CoolingLogic
Hi Matthew,
I saw that you declined the new subject of "CoolingLogic". I understand that the company, Johnson Solid State, LLC, and the technology of CoolingLogic are not house-hold names or established like for instance "Pepsi", however, "Cooling Logic" is a registered trademark in the USA, the technology does have an issued patent supporting it, and certified packages have sent out to tons of CEO's both in the industry and in the media since the issuing date of the patent (nine weeks ago).
I very respectfully request that either the article be allowed, or that you would request that one be created. At any rate, I don't see the harm in allowing an article to be created, if it's title is trademarked and odd, like "CoolingLogic" is- it's not like there would be another subject with the same name, and I feel that Wikipedia will have been done a disservice if it's not allowed.
Thank you for your work, time, and consideration and if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to call or write. I very much appreciate your consideration.
Thank you,
David Johnson Johnson Heating and Cooling, LLC Johnson Engineering, Inc. Johnson Solid State, LLC Cellular: 1-586-531-3125 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.80.215.126 (talk) 23:07, 2 December 2016 (UTC)
- Hello @96.80.215.126:, have you read the guideline WP:Notability (companies)? That's the guideline which gives the benchmarks a company article requires. At it's most essential, you must show that experts are talking about the company in serious news media or academia. We can only cite information that we have a clear source for, and we can't just cite the company talking about itself, so having outside experts that have found the company comment-worthy in print is essential. Hi Matthew,
I'm writing you since you are the reviewer of the articles I wrote. I'm not sure if I understand your feedback completely. What should I change to comply with policies? The Wikipedia page about Why But Why blog ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wait_But_Why ) was used as a reference.
Thanks for your time & feedback.
This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. If you still feel that this subject is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, please rewrite your submission to comply with these policies.

Your draft article, Draft:AVS Video Converter
Hello, MatthewVanitas. It has been over six months since you last edited your Articles for Creation draft article submission, "AVS Video Converter".

Draft:Sukuma calendar and Draft:Sukuma calendar (2)
Dear MatthewVanitas,
I agree, there could be issues to resolve before resubmitting the draft. There could be many more sources coming about the Sukuma calendar, I agree too. I think, we should still improve the article as time goes. I am reviewing the draft still but would also appreciate some help.
Thank you (Nghwaya (talk) 13:20, 1 January 2017 (UTC)).
Dear MatthewVanitas,
I have gone half way to comment out the grapjics. I can't be sure if this is the real reason for the demanded improvement. I'll be ready to improve or remove the graphics completely. Just say a word. I don't want to waste more time.
Thank you (Nghwaya (talk) 15:24, 1 January 2017 (UTC)).
- @Nghwaya:, you have two issues to address:
- Right now you're working on both Draft:Sukuma calendar and Draft:Sukuma calendar (2), that's very confusing to editors. Please choose the one you want to keep, and blank (delete all text on) the other one.
- Secondly, your article was deleted in the past because a body of editors were not convinced that such a thing as the "Sukuma calendar" exists. Have you carefully read Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sukuma calendar to see why the previous article was deleted? You must address those concerns before the draft could move forward. MatthewVanitas (talk) 23:27, 2 January 2017 (UTC)
- @MatthewVanitas:, Draft:Sukuma calendar (2) has been blanked.
- @MatthewVanitas:, ancient writing is not an issue in ancient tracking of time or ancient calendrical computation. If a justified issue of ancient counting had arisen, then a point could have been struck. If the ancient Sukuma prove to have kept a the "isolo" game (Makwaia, E. A.: ABC of the Sukuma Calendar, International Journal of Theoretical and Applied Mathematics. Vol. 2, No. 2, 2016, pp. 127-135. doi: 10.11648/j.ijtam.20160202.25) of counting pebbles then the Draft:Sukuma calendar will survive any danger of deletion as of now.
- @MatthewVanitas:, it cannot be justified whatsoever that an ancient folk without capabilities to count had ever existed in the history of mankind.
- @MatthewVanitas:, a need to preempt barren issues does not arise yet.
Speedy deletion nomination of Wuhan Textile University
A tag has been placed on Wuhan Textile University requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from the article namespace to a different namespace except the Category, Template, Wikipedia, Help, or Portal namespaces.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. — JJMC89 (T·C) 03:25, 3 January 2017 (UTC)

Hi! You might not remember me, but I was the one who nominated your article, Jangid, for deletion. I am still keeping watch over it, and I recently reverted some vandalism on it. I also corrected some grammar errors and fixed the wikilink to jāti, which originally, without the line on top of the a, linked to a disambig page. Question about Peacock tag
You flagged a recent article that I wrote with "peacock" tag -- I don't edit wikipedia often, but typically add pages when I'm going to blog about something / someone and thought of linking to some background info and didn't find a page. I don't have any skin in this game, just reading Becky's book and think her background is note-worthy. I was careful that every assertion had a reference. Please let me know what seemed promotional and subjective and I'll edit if I have time, but really do want to know for future reference. It is discouraging to volunteer and have my effort appear self-serving, when that is neither my intent nor the reality in this case. -- also not sure if this is even the right place to ask this question! I did do a bunch of searching and reading before deciding to reach out to you directly. -- Ultrasaurus (talk) 19:04, 22 January 2017 (UTC)

- Hello @Jean Fume: there's no accusation of hoax, it's just that you needed to cite your sources. draft redirects
When you move an article to draft space, could you please add a speedy delete tag (R2). There can't be a redirect to draft space. This will help speed things up in removing it. Currently, it's a four step process and adding the speedy tag would mean a one step process. Bgwhite (talk) 08:25, 27 January 2017 (UTC)
On your edit to Tahrir al-Sham,
Why did you move Tahrir al-Sham to AFC and then instantly decline it because it violated BLP policies.
The article was not a biography of a living person, and it most definitely had citations.
It is a valid article about a rebel group that had citations.
Serafart (talk) (contributions) 22:44, 28 January 2017 (UTC)
- @Serafart: My mistake on the BLP issue, but if you look at History it indeed had no citations when I moved it, though apparently that's because of an edit-war between other editors. MatthewVanitas (talk) 22:46, 28 January 2017 (UTC)
- @Serafart:, the group was also formed today so I think moving it to Draft until the situation is clearer makes sense. MatthewVanitas (talk) 22:48, 28 January 2017 (UTC)

- You provided no sources
- There is no US "M4 sniper rifle", the picture you show is the M40 sniper rifle and we already have an article about that.
- It does not appear that you speak English well enough to edit here; I suggest instead you edit Wikipedia in a language you speak fluently. MatthewVanitas (talk) 05:53, 30 January 2017 (UTC)

01:35:22, 3 February 2017 review of submission by Christinetuttl
Please review
- Couple things:
- You need to hit the Resubmit button so you're back in the queue for review
- Since Tuttle is a living person, you need to cite by footnote the specific facts you claim about here. You can't simply list a bunch of facts, and then give a bunch of links, you need to tie the sources directly to the facts. See WP:REFB for how to make footnotes. New Page Review - newsletter No.2
- A HUGE backlog
We now have 809 New Page Reviewers!
Most of us requested the user right at PERM, expressing a wish to be able to do something about the huge backlog, but the chart on the right does not demonstrate any changes to the pre-user-right levels of October.
The backlog is still steadily growing at a rate of 150 a day or 4,650 a month. Only 20 reviews a day by each reviewer over the next few days would bring the backlog down to a managable level and the daily input can then be processed by each reviewer doing only 2 or 3 reviews a day - that's about 5 minutes work!
It didn't work in time to relax for the Xmas/New Year holidays. Let's see if we can achieve our goal before Easter, otherwise by Thanksgiving it will be closer to 70,000.
- Second set of eyes
Remember that we are the only guardians of quality of new articles, we alone have to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged by non-Reviewer patrollers and that new authors are not being bitten.
- Abuse
This is even more important and extra vigilance is required considering Orangemoody, and
- this very recent case of paid advertising by a Reviewer resulting in a community ban.
- this case in January of paid advertising by a Reviewer, also resulting in a community ban.
- This Reviewer is indefinitely blocked for sockpuppetry.

- Hello @Originzhao:, the draft must hit a certain level of quality before it can be published, though you're welcome to send people links to the Draft itself. Also, note that Baidu is not a usable source, since like Wikipedia it is also user-generated. Instead you must cite news articles, books, etc (in any language) that discuss this piece of artwork and its significance. MatthewVanitas (talk) 18:09, 7 February 2017 (UTC)

New article not linking
Hi. Thank you for approving my article. The article isn't linking when I create links to it in other articles. They redirect to this article List of numbered roads in Peel Region or show as the page not existing. Example: Airport Road (Ontario) and Airport Road Transportfan70 (talk) 01:10, 11 February 2017 (UTC)
- @Transportfan70: The link has to be exactly as shown, like Airport Road (Ontario). If you want it to appear differently you code it like this:
[[Airport Road (Ontario)|Airport Road]]
with a "|" between the real title and the display title. What's the exact name that's taking you to the Peel Region article? We can change that Redirect. MatthewVanitas (talk) 02:16, 11 February 2017 (UTC)

Hi Matthew, I was wondering why this page was declined in its current form? Of the nine sandbelt clubs in Victoria, Peninsula Kingswood is the only one that does not have a Wikipedia page. I have viewed some of the other clubs' wiki pages and can't see why this page lacks anything compared to theirs. Obviously I am missing something. Happy to discuss. Thank you
- Hello @Steve31204: thanks for checking in. Regarding other articles which might have poor sourcing, the WP usual answer is WP:Other stuff exists, that is, the existence of bad articles is no reason to lower the bar for new articles that aren't up to snuff. Our core requirement for articles getting published is WP:Notability, meaning "reliable sources are substantively discussing this topic".
- Right now you just have the GolfAustralia cite, which doesn't establish anything about the club other than that two certain matches happened there. What would be proper justification for an article is if, say Golf Digest had an article on "Three Amazing New Courses in the Southern Hemisphere" and spent a paragraph dicussing Peninsula, and perhaps the Melbourne Times had a good article explaining the controversy the local council about zoning issues when the course was developed, and History of Southern Golf spent a paragraph explaining what inspired the creator to open the club. Fundamentally, you need to show that the club is talked about in a serious substantive way by uninvolved experts. Basically, we need "facts uninvolved people find important about the subject", or else we have nothing to have an article about.
- If you're displeased about other poor golf course articles, feel free to point them out to me and I can have them deleted if they're egregiously weak. But for your draft, the whole purpose of AFC is that we volunteers help you develop an ironclad article that won't be deleted, so I'd be doing you a disservice to let a lightly-sourced article slide. Makes sense? MatthewVanitas (talk) 02:00, 13 February 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks Matthew, understood. I'll keep wprking on it...

Explaination please. (help too)
I created a profile that fits correctly the information of the person. The drafts is named "Gjorgj Kushi". He is a football player and I don's see the reason why it should not be accepted as a wiki profile while all the data are correct and the reference I used, are web url page based. I'm aware that the person is not as famous as the wikipedia company expects to be to fulfill the minimum of the criteria, BUT isn't the main concept of wikipedia to make a person or something known to the world? I mean, the person concerned could really use a little (big) help to be promoted as a player by the biggest information company in the world. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.107.233.193 (talk) 17:39, 21 February 2017 (UTC)
- @95.107.233.193:, Kushi qualifies as Notable since he's played in professional leagues, but you have to footnote your sources, not just list them at the end. Please see WP:Referencing for beginners for how to footnote. You must footnote the specific facts with the specific sources that document them (sources can be in any language). My article got deleted as soon as I created
Hi Matthew,
Would you please guide me what all needed to survive an article on Wikipedia? Since you only reviewed my recent article and decided to delete, kindly let me know what is the gap. Any sample would help to adjust the article and to meet Wikipedia standard. Appreciate your guidance.
Thanks Mohammad Shahanshah Ansari Chicago, USA — Preceding unsigned comment added by Msansari.786 (talk • contribs) 00:59, 22 February 2017 (UTC)
- Hello @Msansari.786:, your article is not "deleted", but it has been moved to Draft space so that it will not be deleted while you work to improve it. Your draft is at: Draft:Haji Ahmed Ali.
- Regarding why I declined it: it is not at all written like a Wikipedia article. Have you ever seen one single article on Wikipedia that started with anything like "AN UNSUNG AND FORGOTTEN HERO!"? Never, that's not how an encyclopedia speaks. Here are the main things you need to do:
- Remove any opinion/praise/subjectivity from the article and focus on facts, see WP:NPOV
- Your article lacks a clear introduction explaining what he is famous for. I should not have to read half the article to get any idea why he is worth having an article about. At the very beginning, you should have three or four sentences that give the basics who-what-when-where-why of your subject, and only then begin to explain the details. See WP:Lead section for guidance. And take a look at pretty much any biography of a famous person on Wikipedia to see how an intro is written.
- You do not cite any sources whatsoever, so a reader does not know where to verify these facts. For any facts you claim, you must cite a specific source. Not Facebook, not Tumblr, not a blog, but an actual reliable source like news articles, mentions in a book, etc. Sources can be in any language, but English-language sources are preferred when available.
- I hope this helps answer your question; your draft will not be deleted unless you add copyrighted materials (not allowed) or leave it unedited for over three months, so you have time to work to improve your article, and click Submit when you think it is ready for next review. MatthewVanitas (talk) 01:10, 22 February 2017 (UTC)
Thanks, @MatthewVanitas: for explanation. I got what I need to do now. Will work on this article and re-submit when it is ready to post. Thank you!
Help incorporating a picture to some work you reviewed today.
Hi, Thanks for reviewing the work on buses earlier today. I did have a question about how to add an image from another source but I'm under control now. http://www.slv.vic.gov.au/pictoria/gid/slv-pic-aab70904
I've just heard back direct from the State Library of Victoria and they advised its out of copyright so it can be used with appropriate attribution to them.

New page notice of having been reviewed, but tag not removed
Dear MatthewVanitas, You are clearly very busy, but I wanted to bring a matter to your attention. I created the article Spanish American Enlightenment and received a notice that it had been reviewed. However, the tag of unreviewed article still remains. When you have a chance, could you rectify that? Thanks so much, Amuseclio (talk) 19:15, 23 February 2017 (UTC)Amuseclio

@MatthewVanitas: Could you please take a look at the article again and let me know if I am on the right track to improving it and/or if it is sufficiently improved to be accepted? Thanks! --TheSandDoctor (talk) 17:47, 22 February 2017 (UTC)

female graffiti artist
- Hi Matthew
- I am having trouble trying to link my wiki to graffiti, can you help a little. THank you Dennie2me (talk) 01:33, 23 February 2017 (UTC)
- Hi Matthew
- Hello @Dennie2me:, what specifically are you trying to do? MatthewVanitas (talk) 00:08, 24 February 2017 (UTC)
- my instructor wants me to link it to a bigger wiki space such as graffiti, but this is beyond my brillance haha. Dennie2me (talk) 19:40, 24 February 2017 (UTC)
@Dennie2me: Okay, I think I see what they mean. I think they want you to show that other Wikipedia pages lead in to your page. The page that covers this aspect is WP:Orphan, but that said if you click the "what links here" button in the left margin of the screen when you're on the Female graffiti artists page, it'll show you specifically which articles have links leading to your page, which should help show how linked-in to the rest of WP you are.
To deal with the "essay" tag, I recommend you drop into WP:Teahouse and ask the volunteers there for some advice on how to fine-tune your phrasing. They're great people, they just hang out and help newbies all day so that's their whole thing. Good work so far, and remember that a Wikipedia article is always a work in progress. Request on 20:31:48, 1 March 2017 for assistance on AfC submission by AbsconditumEtIncognitum
Hey, Sorry about the Fifteen-ball pool page being incomplete.
I probably should have moved it to my sandbox because I wasn't intending to leave it in the state that it was in, I just had other things to do and had to stop working on it (newbie mistake).
It shouldn't be a problem if I try to submit an actually finished draft at a later time, will it?
Thanks
AbsconditumEtIncognitum (talk) 20:31, 1 March 2017 (UTC)
Thank you
Dear Matthew,
thanks for your notes. I will edit the article and submit it again. Greetings from Austria and thanks again

To Determine the Central Force for a Particular Orbit and Revolving Orbits
Hi
I submitted the above recently. I thought it was a worthwhile piece of work. It was meant to complement:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newton%27s_theorem_of_revolving_orbits [sic]
which I thought was abysmal.
Anyway, mine was rejected, unsurprisingly as I am a complete ignoramus in the ways of Wikipedia. It was lacking a 'topic' among other things. Searching on 'topic' took me to
Manual of Style/Lead Section, and it might as well have been written in a foreign language, for all I could understand it. Hatnote, Copy Edit, Infobox?
Of the 4 Categories of People who
1)create good articles and can get them included
2)create bad articles but can get them included
3)create good articles but can't get them included
4)create bad articles and can't get them included
I hope I'm in 3), but may never know.
Am I alone in being overawed by the complexity of it all?
Mikerollem (talk) 15:04, 4 March 2017 (UTC)
- @Mikerollem: totally understand, it's always tough figuring out a new format and style. All you need to do is just take your time, look at existing established articles for precedent, and ask questions of our many friendly volunteers. So far as your draft at User:Mikerollem/sandbox which you appear to be titling To Determine the Central Force for a Particular Orbit and Revolving Orbits.
- If this is purely a "how to" article, be advised we don't do those here, though WikiHow specializes in "how to" articles. For an encyclopedia a topic needs to be a discrete concept. That's part of what I was getting at with saying you need a "lead section". I'm not a physics guy, but to make a fake example, it'd be something like:
Bob Chancy's Theorem is a physics formula used to explain apparent irregularities in the speed of light; it was first posited by Chancy, then a senior lecturer at Oxford University, in 1938, in order to deal with fringe situations not addressed by the then-prominent Hutzky's Theorem.
- A lede is a basic "who-what-why-when-where" of the topic, all the basic info right up front.
- So far as asking advice, for asking general advice, WP:Teahouse is the place where a ton of extra-friendly volunteers hang out and enjoy giving basic advice to beginners. If you're looking to talk to other specialists, find the "WikiProject" for your concept and post on its talk page, like WT:WikiProject Physics or WT:WikiProject Mathematics.
Starting a new article is often way harder than improving existing ones, so you might want to (for the moment) try practicing your chops on improving an existing weak article, by improving its content, layout, and formatting. If you're concerned about Newton's theorem of revolving orbits, first thing to do would be to post a short/clear explanation of your concerns at Talk:Newton's theorem of revolving orbits and likely post a quick thread at WT:WikiProject Physics saying "hey guys I want to make XYZ fixes to this article, what do you think?" and that way you can be working in collaboration with more experienced editors.
Hope that makes some sense, give me a shout on this Talk page if you have further questions. In the meantime, just be patient, gradually build your familiarity, and don't get dissuaded if you get something wrong and have to take a step back to figure things out. It's all a process. Hello, I'm TheBD2000. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Gavin McInnes, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. 1/3 - 1/2 of the content on wikipedia is not referenced. start reversing and deleting all the sentence-para and pages with no reference, that would be a great accomplishement for those who think nothing is better than something, and will dissaude further unreferenced input. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Triphala (talk • contribs) 06:23, 5 March 2017 (UTC)
- @Triphala: There's actually a policy covering that: WP:Other stuff exists. It is *not* appropriate to say "other articles are poorly sourced, so I myself will make poorly-sourced edits. Again, you don't seem to understand that being a native Hindi speaker does not qualify you to just assume what you think the etymology of a word is. I'm a native English speaker, and I could "assume" that the word forehead comes from "fore" and "head", but that's actually not where the word comes from at all. So in the same way, just because you see two Hindi words inside another word, that does not necessarily mean that such is the etymology of the word. MatthewVanitas (talk) 00:19, 6 March 2017 (UTC)
The Hindi things was already gone, I was responding to a comment that i redid a page but should put references - not all material can be referenced. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Triphala (talk • contribs) 23:39, 6 March 2017 (UTC)
Text badly copied
Hello MatthewVanitas,
please excuse my low level of English.
Being well accustomed to French Wikipedia I tried to help Moamoa17 (User talk:Moamoa17), who is the author, apparently awkwardly, copying his text that he had deposited here. Hopefully this will help.
Cordially. --6PO (talk) 23:14, 6 March 2017 (UTC)
- Hello @6PO:, you need to ask Moamoa17 where they copied the text from, since they lost all the formatting when they copied. If you just copy the text in "Reading mode", you don't capture the coding, so you must be in "Edit mode" to capture the coding. If they can show us where they copied the text from, that would help. MatthewVanitas (talk) 23:47, 6 March 2017 (UTC)
- Hello MatthewVanitas,
- you're right. I well copy the text in "Edit mode" but before (how?) it was in "Reading mode". We must ask (and wait) Moamoa17.
- Thank you. --6PO (talk) 00:08, 7 March 2017 (UTC)
