My ban on Wikipedia

Missionedit it's Kristine. I do have on ban on wikipedia because on my computer my internet protocol shows I have a ban. I'm able to edit wikipedia when I'm on other computers like right now. Can you talk to someone about lifting the ban? Thank you. Venustar84 (talk) 18:44, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

@Venustar84: Kristine, there is no record anywhere that you have been banned from Wikipedia using Wikimedia software. I can't do anything about a ban that isn't being enforced by Wikipedia. Did anyone tell you that you've been banned/why? ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 02:42, 16 June 2015 (UTC)

No I haven't told anyone else because if I do I'm afraid the ban will extend to me using wikipedia on other computers. Venustar84 (talk) 17:39, 22 June 2015 (UTC)

@Venustar84: What do you mean by banned? Is it that you can't log in to Wikipedia on that computer, or you can't click the edit button, or what? ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 19:44, 22 June 2015 (UTC)

I can't click the edit button. Venustar84 (talk) 23:21, 22 June 2015 (UTC)

@Venustar84: What happens when you try to click the edit button? ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 02:28, 23 June 2015 (UTC)

It says I have been blocked and unable to edit Wikipedia. Venustar84 (talk) 04:57, 23 June 2015 (UTC)

@Venustar84: This is when you are logged in? Hmmmm...does it say why you've been blocked? Has any user notified you of this block? ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 18:37, 23 June 2015 (UTC)

I think it's because people on Wikipedia say I plagiarize and vandulize it. So they gave me fair warning and I have been blocked until August of 2019. Venustar84 (talk) 00:35, 24 June 2015 (UTC)

@Venustar84: Ok....I'm having a problem finding a record of this anywhere. Who blocked you and where did they tell you this? ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 15:42, 24 June 2015 (UTC)
I don't know who it was. Talk to the Wikipedia administrators. Venustar84 (talk) 00:40, 25 June 2015 (UTC)
@Venustar84: Try now on the machine you were blocked on and see if you can edit. ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 03:35, 25 June 2015 (UTC)
@Venustar84: I've been talking to some other editors about your block here. ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 18:50, 25 June 2015 (UTC)
Missionedit it's Kristine. You only temporialy lifted the ban but it's back on. By the way what is your real name and are you male or female? Venustar84 (talk) 02:12, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
@Venustar84: You may have some type of autoblock that has nothing to do with your editing on Wikipedia. When does the block expire and does it say why you are blocked? As it says on my user page, I call myself Anastasia and I am female. I don't give out much information about myself in the internet, as there are some creepy people out there :) ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 16:42, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
as I have said before my block will last until August of 2019. Venustar84 (talk) 18:52, 4 July 2015 (UTC)

Userbox

Hi Anastasia I've been looking through some userboxes (as one does just to see what's there although I'm not one for putting much other than wiki-infos up). Anyway I came across this one: This user is Gentile with the heart of a Jew! and as you seem approachable - and knowledgable - I thought to be bold and ask about it as I'm both very interested and a bit puzzled there. So it may have different meanings for each who use it/think that way but then again it could be linked some part of a faith? (I dunno..!) So do I hope its not too intrusive but I am very interested in what's behind it and would much appreciate if you would spare a few minutes for a few lines of your beliefs are. Thank you so much for your time - All the best,Plutonium27 (talk) 01:39, 12 July 2015 (UTC)

@Plutonium27: Hi Plutonium! You are right in asserting that this userbox has to do with my faith. I'm a Christian, and I believe that Jesus Christ died to pay for my sins and the sins of the whole world. I also believe that Jesus is the Jewish Messiah (roughly meaning "Savior"), and that the Jews and I both worship the same God, only that they don't realize their Messiah has already come. As the Bible states in the book of Romans, the Jews are God's chosen people, and Jesus died so that anyone who gives their life to him becomes part of this people. This is why I care very much about the Jews and consider myself to be one of them in my heart. It's hard for many people to understand why I believe what I do, but I have faith in whatever the Bible says, as I consider it to be the Word of God. Thanks for asking :) I hope this helps you understand a bit more where I'm coming from, and feel free to ask me any more about my faith; I enjoy talking about it to other people. ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 18:30, 12 July 2015 (UTC)

Creation of a new page : Grown Diamond

Hello!

Hope you are doing good. Been sometime I submitted a request for a new page on Grown diamonds. I cahceked today and I see no trace of the draft article. Could you please help me find the page? Cactusfigure (talk) 06:12, 20 July 2015 (UTC)

Hi Cactusfigure! Where was your article draft originally located? It may have been deleted for some reason or another. ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 01:18, 21 July 2015 (UTC)

Question about the Jonathan Fanton page

Dear Anatasia/Missionedit, First and foremost, thank you so much for taking the time to review my page about Jonathan Fanton. In case it wasn't totally obvious (smile), I am very new to this and trying to learn the ropes of editing on Wikipedia. Are you the editor who flagged my citations as incorrect? I compared my citations to the Help pages and am having trouble seeing the errors. Is there any way you can help guide me in the correction of one of them, and then I can fix all the rest?

With sincere and continuing thanks, Dnuscher (talk) 14:09, 25 July 2015 (UTC)dnuscher (Dave Nuscher)

Hi Dnuscher, and thanks for all your enthusiastic contributions to Wikipedia! What I meant by tagging Jonathan Fanton is that you just need to add fuller citations, with more information. This is mainly in case one of the urls leading to your sources no longer works, and someone would like to find the source elsewhere. The main things you should include in every citation are 1) the url 2) the title of the source 3) the publisher/work 4) the date you accessed it. The date and author are helpful, too, if can find them. I could have fixed your citations myself instead of tagging the page, but I think I was being a bit lazy that day ;) For instance, these citations:
 • Governance, Benjamin Franklin House
 • "People in the News (4/20/14): Appointments and Promotions". Philanthropy News Digest.
are better off looking like this:
You don't have to use the "cite web" template like I did (although I find it easier), as long as you include the extra info. Thanks again! ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 18:52, 25 July 2015 (UTC)
You...Are awesome! Thank you for the help! Dnuscher (talk) 21:09, 25 July 2015 (UTC)
When you have a second please let me know if I made the citation-related changes correctly. I greatly appreciate the help! All best, Dave Jonathan Fanton
Looks great, Dnuscher! If you could add the authors, too (not all of them have authors) it would be pretty much finished and you could remove the tag. To add an author to the "cite web" template, just add |first=first name |last=last name to the reference. Good luck, and if you have any questions about anything else feel free to contact me. Great work! P.S. - Don't forget to sign you posts with 4 tildes :) ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 17:06, 26 July 2015 (UTC)

Hi, I have a question. I saw some users with custom signatures. How do I get customize my signature with some colors? ThisGuyIsGreat (talk) 14:48, 5 August 2015 (UTC)

Hi ThisGuyIsGreat! To customize your signature, go to your preferences page and scroll to the "Signature" section. Colors/fonts in your signature require using CSS coding. Unless you know how to use it, you could tell me what kind of thing you want and I could do it for you (?) I delight to see you are a native English speaker . Could you plz clarify if the use of the term 'Hybrid ' is in relation to a community is within the norms of propriety ? With what little understanding i have , it's offensive and unacceptable to term a race or community ' Hybrid ' , which term is used for animal/plant species . Bother to advise . GODISNOTGREAT 06:33, 4 August 2015 (UTC)

An adminitrator is making insinuations to my caste and communal affiliations . I deem it a personal attack . Plz help.rahila 15:10, 4 August 2015 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chrishitch (talkcontribs)

Hi, Chrishitch! The English word "hybrid" is not really used in a derogatory sense, as far as I am aware. It is a term used in science to describe animals and plants, and since science considers humans to be animals of a sort (we evolved from apes, ect. ect.) this should be an acceptable term to use when describing race of people.
The admin, NeilN, was not insinuating anything. You changed someone else's comment on a talk page, and because this is considered vandalism on Wikipedia, he simply warned you against doing it again. You should follow his advice about adding a link to your user page in your signature; I had a hard time figuring out who you are. Please sign all of your posts. Thanks! ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 18:08, 4 August 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for replying . I was not referring to NeilN at all . It is the administrator 'Sitush ' who has attacked me personally on the talkpage Bhumihar . He was referring to my supposed caste and communal affiliations in context of an objection i took to some relevant discussion ,which i found very disturbing and unbecoming especially coming from an experienced Administartor.

Another thing is the use of the word Hybrid for men . Humans are not genetically so diverse as to be classified into races ( you can crosscheck the assertion with all resources available at your disoposal, if you must) , thus there is no question of racial hybridity . It is used exclusively for animals and plants . You must have the wisdom to understand that animals can have species much like you have horse races and dog breeds but but but , you don't have human breeds or human races ....... humans can have communities and nationalities but not races or breeds .......An African black is the same race as an American white ....they are not distinct races ......neither is the usage acceptable........You cannot call somebody a ' negro ' and when some other person objects , you have the temerity to insinuate that he must also have been a ' negro ' to resist ......shame on such editors ......rahila 05:18, 5 August 2015 (UTC)rahila 05:19, 5 August 2015 (UTC)

Chrishitch, can you link to specifically where Sitush said this to you (e.g. with a diff)? As for your problem with the use of the word hybrid, hybridity can also apply to the mixing of genes with each other. For instance, even though black and white Americans are not two different species, a child with a black father and white mother is still a hybrid of black and white genes. As another point, the reliable source uses the word in this context. Considering both these things, I just don't think the whole thing is worth getting worked up about.
If you put rahila (talk) as your signature, it will show up like rahila (talk), which is much less cluttered than the one you have right now. ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 20:50, 5 August 2015 (UTC)

Hybrid genes is something very different from hybrid boy , hybrid girl or a hybrid community ..........there cannot be a ' negro gene ' either ..if at all there ever was anything called ' usage ' it had some underlying set of rules and propriety ..........anyway i

Here is Sitush 's personal volley against my supposed caste prejudices based on my caste affiliations - I suspect the problem here is actually found in the words preceding that one, ie The Bhumihars themselves dislike these narratives ... You may dislike it but Wikipedia is not censored and sources do speak of these relationships. The term itself is harmless and, indeed, in the context of inter-marriage etc it is a normal scientific/biological word. - Sitush (talk) 14:18, 4 August 2015 (UTC) .

I didn't make such a request (or did I by blanking the page?), it was just a tiny redirect page that should have been 5F-AEB instead of 5F-EMB, fixed that earlier. -- Aethyta (talk) 22:56, 15 August 2015 (UTC)

Hi, my name is Irene Novello, I'm Italian and I'm a very new controbutors of wikipedia. I started to improve the italian page of the composer Andrea Liberovici: I know very well his job, and I notice there where some mistakes and missing on his voice. I started to do the same in english, and I'd like to know if all the citations and the editing I made is enough. I started a conversation with Cullen 328 but I dodn't reply to me. I don't if it's allowd to me to cancel the issues written by wiki, 'cause I don't know if it's enough the job I did. Thank you very very much for you answer. Irene — Preceding unsigned comment added by Irenenovello (talkcontribs) 15:26, 23 August 2015 (UTC)

@Irenenovello: Hi Irene! The citations that you added are good, but they all are considered "primary" sources, meaning that they are written by people closely associated with/hiring Liberovici. If you can find some secondary or tertiary sources, that would be enough to remove the "notability" tag from the top of the page. The page WP:PSTS talks about primary, secondary, and tertiary sources. I removed the problem tags from the top of the page that you have already fixed, and I will put a request to WP:COPYEDITORS to see if they will fix the problem with WP:Neutrality. ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 19:20, 23 August 2015 (UTC)
@Missionedit: Thank you very much for your help. I tryed to find some secondary source, and maybe some tertiary too (if I understood).

I edit a little bit the bio too. Thank you again and if you have the time to let me know if the work I did is correct.....all the best --Irenenovello (talk) 08:34, 26 August 2015 (UTC)

@Irenenovello: Sorry I took so long to respond; I was gone for the part few weeks. User:Marcus1093 from the Guild of Copyeditors has taken up the task of copyediting the article. I think you've added enough sources to fulfill the guidelines, so I removed the source and notability tags from the top of the page. Great job, and thanks for contributing to Wikipedia! ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 20:06, 11 September 2015 (UTC)

@Claire Morgan1: Hi Claire! Sorry it's taken me so long to respond. The administrator who deleted the article Paul Manners actually did give reason for deletion. He (or she) specifically stated that the article was deleted because it didn't meet the requirements of Wikipedia's notability guideline. The guideline states that articles should reference multiple reliable, independent, and secondary sources that have significant coverage of the topic. ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 20:23, 11 September 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for badge, and a question

Thanks for my Teahouse badge. I have displayed it on my userpage. 😊 I have a question for you though. I created and have been doing a lot of work on Black Allan (horse), who was a very famous Tennessee Walking Horse (he was the first one ever, actually) and don't know what to do about his name. In some sources his name is spelled Black Allen, although on his registration papers it is spelled with the two a's, no e. I would like to know if I should make a redirect page to send anyone who searches for "Black Allen" to the article for Black Allan, or just put a note on the page about the spelling so people will know. The thing about famous horse articles is, some of them have strange names or names that look like typos (American Pharoah) but aren't. (Most associations have a 20-character rule for names, and a no-repeat policy, which leads to a lot of weird ones.) I'm just sort of wondering what a non-horse person would expect to see if they were to look it up. Thanks. White Arabian mare (Neigh) 02:05, 12 October 2015 (UTC)

Great question, White Arabian mare! I think you should do a combination of the things you've suggested. Redirect the page "Black Allen" to Black Allan (horse), and put a note in the lead about the spelling difference (eg. Black Allan, also spelled Black Allen, is a racehorse...). It might also be useful to put a link to the disambiguation page or other pages that might be called "Black Allen" with a template like Template:For, which displays like this:
Any of these things will work by themselves, but all of them together is even better. That's my opinion, but tell me how it works out. Good luck! ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk)

For right now I'm just using the for template. I will probably make the redirect later, though. Thanks for your help. White Arabian mare (Neigh) 15:29, 12 October 2015 (UTC)White Arabian mare

General Advice

So I am an admitted Wikipedia nut and I feel like I should stop just consuming and start contributing but it seems so overwhelming. I mean some stuff everything is really well done and if you try to change anything someone yells at you and other pages half the external resources are 404ing. Any general advice on how to approach being an "editor". Also this is super nerdy of me to admit but I really have always wanted to be respected on Wikipedia. How do I do to gain street cred on here? How do I search for vandalism or broken links? Is there certain contributions that are more valued over others? Bhanks (talk) 22:24, 8 October 2015 (UTC)

Hi Bhanks! I'm so glad you want to contribute to Wikipedia and become a respected editor here :) These are some really good questions. I totally know you you feel; when you first start out editing, sometimes it seems like there is nothing you can do help out. But in actuality, there is a ton of things you can do that will help with your reputation. The thing is, it's not necessarily how many edits you have (although having more mainspace edits can help you seem more reputable), but more how helpful your edits are to Wikipedia. Time and consistency are really the keys to people trusting you on Wikipedia; you have to show editors that you will contribute helpfully and consistently. What kind of stuff have found that you like doing on here so far? ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 15:00, 9 October 2015 (UTC)
Honestly, the thing I could do all day is watch Shakespeare and correct plot points. I only did that once. My thought is to do boring stuff that no one else wants to do. Maybe get a proverbial high five from maintaining pages that no one else wants to mess with. As a consumer of Wikipedia I like to pursue topics that I want to learn more about. Can't really contribute to Wikipedia subjects where I am learning about them on Wikipedia. ;). Might be good to force me to find authoritative sources about a subject outside of Wikipedia. Is there anything of subject hierarchy that I can search like you would do at a library? Bhanks (talk) 20:46, 11 October 2015 (UTC)
@Bhanks: You may want to consider joining Wikipedia:WikiProject Shakespeare and helping them out, then. FYI, you don't have don't have just like editing certain subjects (eg. animals, film, Shakespeare) on Wikipedia. You can also like to do a specific kind of work, such as general maintenance, writing articles, reviewing articles, participating in deletion discussions, ect. I'm not the type who likes to write articles (that's too much work for me :) ) but I really enjoy working in article reviewing and maintenance, as well as mentoring people in how to use Wikipedia. I'm not sure exactly what you're talking about with a searchable subject hierarchy, but maybe Wikipedia:Portal/Directory might be able to help you. Here is some stuff:
 • Maintenance - this can involve many things, including reformatting references, fixing dead links, copyediting, adding infoboxes to articles, and so on.
Where would be the best place to find the most needed places for revision? Is such a thing of just going around and letting people know there is an issue and then other people fix those issues? Portal/Directory does seem promising. I would just like to be able to see the "file structure" so to speak of all the articles and look for orphans, etc. Bhanks (talk) 04:43, 20 October 2015 (UTC)
Oh yeah. Taxonomy. Say no more ;) Bhanks (talk) 04:43, 20 October 2015 (UTC)

philosophical riddle

Hi Anastasia Yesterday I tried to create and article with the following text:

Green Movement
"The Green movement" is a term for a social movement that feeds Green politics.

Like any other movement (e.g., feminism), the Green movement has the following features: - participants join by self-identification: saying you're a Green makes you one - it influences social behaviour, e.g. association, consumption, education, politics, religion - it is founded on philosophy, i.e., discussion and reflection

The Green movement exists because members idealize their role as agents for the preservation of humankind in symbiotic harmony with the ecological systems of Earth, which they view as threatened by non-Greens to such an extent that it may become uninhabitable for our species.

Non-Greens may thus be defined as people who live as though human behaviour will not lead to the extinction of our species. An extreme example would be those who believe that very small numbers of people could survive on Earth if technological means were found to create localized conditions that sustain human life--e.g. domed cities.

(end of text for the new article)

Your colleague, GrammarFascist, recommended adding citations. That doesn't seem too daunting. If I tinker in my Sandbox, will someone get back to me?

I welcome your encouragement or advice.

(talk page stalker) Hello again, jme. You can certainly use your user sandbox to draft articles or sections of articles. Then, when you feel you're ready for feedback, you can visit Wikipedia:Teahouse again. (Other editors wouldn't necessarily know to go check out your sandbox otherwise.) Or, if you believe there is enough unique content to justify Green movement having its own article separate from Green politics, you could create a draft at Wikipedia:Articles for creation and submit it when you think it's ready; submitting drafts there leads to a thorough review by an experienced editor, though the turnaround time between submitting a draft and the draft being reviewed is often a week or more due to backlog. Don't hesitate to return to the Teahouse if you have any further questions. —GrammarFascist contribstalk 15:56, 2 November 2015 (UTC)

Thank you GrammarFascist! jme Mccullochker (talk) 17:14, 2 November 2015 (UTC)

@Mccullochker: I agree with GrammarFascist :) Another thing you can do to make your article better is to remove the informal and biased tone. Really long sentences, phrases such as "like any other movement", and "Non-Greens may thus be defined", make the article seem unprofessional and are not going to help it pass review. ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 18:56, 2 November 2015 (UTC)

@Patrick bartram 1: Some references you could add to make the article more reliable would be newspaper or magazine articles (online or in print) mentioning him or about him. Books can also be cited on Wikipedia; all of these kinds of sources will help show that Cowell is notable and worthy of a Wikipedia article. ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 20:59, 4 November 2015 (UTC)

Help in creating new articles

Hi Anastasia,

Marcus here, and I would like to seek some help from you. Recently, I stumbled upon the articles 'Clet Abraham' and 'So You Want to Write a Fugue?' in Wikipedia but sadly, there are no English versions to it. I wish to create an English page for both but I had never create an article before. I have read Wikipedia:Your first article but I still need your help to monitor my progress and to give me some advice. I'll probably start work on 'So You Want to Write a Fugue?' first.

Many Thanks! ~ Marcus1093 (talk) 13:26, 11 October 2015 (UTC)

@Marcus1093: Great! I'll definitely keep an eye on you and help out if you need anything :) Good luck! ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 19:27, 11 October 2015 (UTC)
Well, my article is done and you can take a look at it at my Sandbox here. If you think it's ok, I'll upload it. ~ Marcus1093 (talk) 12:36, 16 October 2015 (UTC)
@Marcus1093: Have you checked the copyright status of the lyrics? ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 23:13, 16 October 2015 (UTC)
The lyrics is found in the German version, so I assume it's usable. ~ Marcus1093 (talk) 14:46, 17 October 2015 (UTC)
@Marcus1093: Assuming stuff about copyright is always shaky ground; you should do some more research in that area. Other than that your article looks good to go. Nice job! ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 22:12, 19 October 2015 (UTC)
Meanwhile as the article is being reviewed, is it possible to use my sandbox? ~ Marcus1093 (talk) 09:22, 22 October 2015 (UTC)
@Marcus1093: I don't understand exactly what you mean, but the preferred location for AfC submissions is draft userspace; I see someone from the reviewing team has already moved it there. ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 15:05, 22 October 2015 (UTC)
After being rejected twice for addition, I feel that I should let you do some vetting before I submit my article. ~ Marcus1093 (talk) 11:17, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
@Marcus1093: Basically, the article needs to cite some more good sources to show that it is well covered in the media, and therefore notable. ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 20:50, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
There's not much for me to add and the article looks complete to me. I'll submit it once you think it's ready. ~ Marcus1093 (talk) 06:43, 6 November 2015 (UTC)
@Marcus1093: The only other source you've added to the article so far is the music itself. This is not enough to fulfill the WP:Golden rule and if you submit it now, it will just be rejected again for the same reason as before. If there are no more sources you can add, I'm just going to tell you straight up: this music is not yet notable enough for its own article. If this is the case, my advice to you is to move on to creating another article on which sources can be more easily found. ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 16:08, 6 November 2015 (UTC)

Thank you!

Thank you so much for the kind welcome you left on my page! Not So Dumb Blond (talk) 19:11, 8 November 2015 (UTC)

Textual Comment Speedy Deletion

I am user bmars12 & I'd like to know more on why my articles is up for speedy deletion. I'm not understanding. Bmars12 (talk) 02:48, 10 November 2015 (UTC)bmars12

Hi Anastasia. Back in September, I attempted to post an entry on Crepy Clyde, a scary movie tv host, actor and musician in metro Detroit. Yes, Clyde (real name Keith Brown) is my brother. But I am a journalist, and thought it would be right to see if he could gain a Wikipedia listing. Clyde plays all around town, has done a great job as a featured actor at Jeff Daniels' Purple Rose Theater in nearby Chelsea, Mich., and has appeared on TV in various capacities as Creepy Clyde. He is a frequent public performer, as a solo singer-guitarist-keyboardist and with his band. He is quite unique. Could you be specific at what you need me to do to make Creepy Clyde's submission acceptance-worthy? Here is a link to the earlier response to my first submission: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Creepy_Clyde

Also--in the third paragraph, last complete line of the paragraph, there is a stray "f" character after the comma--that can come out.

Thanks for taking a minute! Please let me know you've received this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.56.145.120 (talk) 18:11, 21 November 2015 (UTC)

@68.56.145.120: Hi again! First things first, it is not generally a good idea to create articles on Wikipedia about people you are attached to; lots of problems can arise with bias. But aside from that, for your article to be worthy of Wikipedia, you must cite several reputable sources about Clyde showing that he is notable enough to be included. If you can't find any sources, that means that Clyde isn't quite notable for his own article yet, and you may have to wait until he gains more coverage in the media to create his article.

independent verifications

Apparently I need some sort of outside source to verify any changes I make on a page on Wikipedia. This specifically refers to a group called true that contemporary Christian music group that was involved with in 1972 and 1973. There are numerous names missing in the members section of those previously appearing with that group. If there needs to be independent verification and someone is asking for a newspaper article or something of that sort, even if I can obtain such information, where would it be mailed? Secondly, the director of that group, Roger Breland who was the founder of the group from beginning to end. Would he qualify ad an independent verifiable source? Because if the founder and director's word cannot be taken as fact, there really is no place to go. Finally how were the members who ARE listed on that page appear? What was the source? If I have that available I could go back to that source and make the necessary changes.

Thank you,

George V Richards

PS All members appear on any recordings they did. That should count as a source. I'm really quite confused about all of this. In addition I appear to have 2 accountswith Wikipedia undef the same username. I have only used my current one so this too is confusing. It should be as noted germanized11 Gernanized11 (talk) 16:19, 8 January 2016 (UTC)

@Gernanized11: Hi George! While you do need to cite outside sources when you add information to Wikipedia articles, but there is no need to send the physical source (eg. a newspaper or magazine article) anywhere to be verified. If you can provide a link to the source online, that's great, but if you can't because the source is in print, that's OK as well. A citation with information about the source (eg. title, author, date, publisher, ect.) is sufficient for Wikipedia articles. The page WP:Citing sources goes into more detail on how to format citations. I assume you are talking about the article Truth (American band).
Because Roger Breland is the founder of the band, he is not considered an "independent" source, but he is considered a reliable one. If you conduct an interview with him and publish it in some form, or find an article that he wrote, you can cite that as a source. The source has to be published; a citation cannot just consist of "Roger Breland told me so last week" :) You can also cite audio recordings and album covers, if they contain the names of the band members.
However, independent sources (eg. newspaper/magazine articles, music reviews, all written by someone not related to/paid by the band) are also important, because they show that the band is notable enough for Wikipedia. After all, any person can be in a band and produce recordings, but unless there is at least some media coverage of the band, the band is not considered notable.
It looks like people who knew band members added those names to Truth (American band) without using any source. The problem with this is that we have no way of knowing whether someone put false information in there or not. If you could find some sources to verify the names of the band members, that would be extremely helpful and appreciated.
I'm confused as to what you mean by having "2 accounts with Wikipedia under the same username". You are currently editing as User:Gernanized11, and User:Germanized11 is not a registered user name. Perhaps you can clarify? I hope this has been of some help to you. ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 18:34, 8 January 2016 (UTC)

Help & Advice

Hi Anastasia,

Thanks for welcoming me.

I need help. There is a note on my Userpage like the page I created a page titled "HVUT" which is re-directed to as "Draft:HVUT". I have added some reliable references to the Draft on 17th February 2016. I don't know how to proceed further. Should I wait for the page to be approved/should I expand it. If I search on Search engines for "HVUT", why it directs to my Userpage ?? Kindly Advise and Help

Thank You Ifabi2016 (talk) 10:57, 18 February 2016 (UTC)

Hi Ifabi2016! I fixed a few minor formatting issues with your draft. It appears that you have directly copied some of the article text from http://www.tax2290.com/hvut/federal-use-tax.aspx. This is copyright violation and plagerism, both of which are not tolerated on Wikipedia (se Wikipedia:Copyright violations for more info). Please remove these sections immediately, and expand the draft using your own original content, while still citing reliable sources. Some suggestions for how to proceed after that: more sources are always helpful, so find some more if you can. Also, check your grammar to make sure the draft flows well. When you think the draft is ready, you can submit it to WP:Articles for Creation by placing the code at the top of the page.
I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "HVUT" redirecting to your userpage. It didn't do that when I searching it. ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 20:21, 18 February 2016 (UTC)

Requesting advice and improvements on a new article

Hello! I have submitted an article for creation review. Editors replied back that I needed to improve the sources, which I believe I did. I would welcome other editors to improve the article. Is this something I can request while the article is in the queue to be reviewed, and if so, is this the way to do so? (by contacting hosts in the tearoom). Thanks for your input. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Parables_TVLG Brichetto (talk)

Hi LG Brichetto! Yes, you can contact Teahouse hosts personally if you would like their help, whether or not the draft has been approved yet. Usually if you would like help with something, the best way to do it is to ask the editor(s) on their talk page. I've happy to be of service-- I have a few suggestions. I'm not sure a list of the movies Parables TV provides is conducive to an encyclopedia article. Rather, it seems like an advertisment for the films it provides. Maybe some of these titles could be listed in prose under the general "Programming" section while remove the rest (eg. Parables TV offers on-demand Christian movies, such as Son of God, Saving God, and [ect.] ). Also, all movie and TV show titles should be italicized. ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 21:17, 18 February 2016 (UTC)
Also, why is it necessary to list Parables TV's competitors? This gives off a promotional vibe. ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 21:26, 18 February 2016 (UTC)

Thanks so much. I will make your suggested changes. Primarily, I was trying to establish notability, but I do see your point. Thank you. 166.173.185.23 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 21:41, 18 February 2016 (UTC)

Jim M. Baker

So I'm very frustrated and disappointed that my admission of "Jim M. Baker" was not accepted by Wiki. They say it's because my subject lacked "notability", which in all due respect I find to be a rather subjective judgement. To me and to many who had followed his outstanding career way back in those days of the 1950s & 1960s he was very notable, though certainly not on the world stage, but he was recognized regionally and nationally. Several of the people on the alum page he would join if accepted are far less notable IMO. If you have any suggestions for what I can do to get Mr. Baker admitted I'd b most grateful ? I'm kinda operating at a handicap here because I don't know Jim M. Baker, and have no idea where he resides, actually I don't know if the man is alive today ? So thanks for any help or suggestions you might have for what I could do, I would be very grateful and appreciative. Thank you: Dondwiki440 (Don Derington). Dondwiki440 (talk) 15:59, 13 February 2016 (UTC)

Hello Dondwiki440 :) When the reviewer of your article declined it due to lack of notability, this means that it did not meet the notability guidelines listed at Wikipedia:Notability (people). While Baker may actually be a notable subject, the article lacks enough sources that show he is notable. WP:Golden rule states that articles generally require significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. The few sources you have cited confirm Baker's running times, but that is not enough media coverage to show he is notable. If you can find some more sources, showing that he was recognized both "regionally and nationally" as you have mentioned, that would help solve the problem. Cheers! ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 16:07, 14 February 2016 (UTC)

I found something else about Jim M. Baker from an article in Sports Illustrated about his competition in the 1961 NCAA 440 final in Pilly, PA. I think this is perhaps what you are saying they are looking for in coverage about Baker ? I think you are saying even though he may be worthy of a page, I just need to provide more coverage or publicity for him ? So you know this goes back to the 1950s & early 1960s and the subject and myself are in our 70s now, so there's not tons and gobs of stuff out there that far back. He was prominent, but we aren't talking about a world figure here. I'm going to keep plugging away. Thanks frind. Dondwiki440, Don Derington Dondwiki440 (talk) 20:59, 14 February 2016 (UTC)

I'm trying o accumulate some more info about Jim M. Baker, but think I will wait awhile before I resubmit him for consideration in your exclusive little club.

I was stupid for submitting him with a Userid under his name so maybe next time the acceptors will be less suspicious when he's initially submitted under Dondwiki440. Old Jim is going o be 76 next month and I'd like to get him accepted while he's still alive, assuming he's not already dead which I don't know ? So thank you for your help friend: sincerely Dondwiki440/Don Derington. Dondwiki440 (talk) 14:30, 29 February 2016 (UTC)

Seeking an Update To Steve Rannazzisi Bio

I've been directed to the Tea House but my question doesn't appear to be showing up, so I'm reaching out to you.

I would like to update the page of American comedian/actor Steve Rannazzisi[1]. A major aspect of his public persona is omitted from the introduction and the entry is incomplete as a result.

Rannazzisi built his career saying he escaped the South Tower of the World Trade Center on 9/11. He didn't.[2] This is something that defines his public persona and should not be buried in the text as it is now.

Rannazzisi's career is inexorably linked to his 9/11 story. He began telling it to comedians immediately after moving to Los Angeles days after the attack[3]. He began telling elaborate versions of the lie publicly starting in 2009.[4]He shared detailed accounts on multiple comedy podcasts[5] and interviews[6]. The New York Times was going to out his false narrative in September 2015, but Rannazzisi admitted it publicly hours before the story ran. [7]

Typing "Steve Rannazzisi" into google returns 172,000 hits, with mulitple mentions of the lie on the first page[8]. "Steve Rannazzisi 9/11" returns nearly 60,000 hits on google[9]. So more than a third of his presence on the internet is tied to the falsehood. Type in "Steve Rannazzisi" and click the "News" feed in google and you'll see scores of articles on the subject.[10]

It is absolutely integral that his connection to a lie he told for 14 years be mentioned prominently in his bio. It belongs in the first paragraph, if not part of the first sentence. 187Journalist (talk) 21:35, 4 April 2016 (UTC)

Ref question

Hello Missionedit, I've gone over how to make multiple refs to one book but still am not able to piece it together . . . have you seen any step-by-step description for this?

A particularly puzzling thing is when I went to delete an error I'd made in the References section, (there are currently ten) all I got for choices were (and spaces had to be inserted here so you could see the list that I saw):

Let me try this again . . .

Hello Missionedit, I've gone over how to make multiple refs to one book but still am not able to piece it together . . . have you seen any step-by-step description for this?

A particularly puzzling thing is when I went to delete an error I'd made in the References section, (there are currently ten) all I got for choices were (and in order for you to able to see the list that I saw I had to strip-out all the coding):

References
reflist

I wanted to name a footnote I refer to multiple times but I couldn't find it in the editing window? . . . where's the reference I need to delete?

ArtistDirection3 (talk) 02:46, 15 April 2016 (UTC)

Hi ArtistDirection3 :) I fixed the reflist error you were having on the page Pat O'Day. The ". For example:
Markup Renders as
This is page content.

References
reflist

This is page content.[1]

To use a named ref for repeatedly citing the same source, follow these instuctions:
1. Replace the This is more content.

Tah-dah! It's that simple. Now, here's the error you were having before:
Cite error: The named reference :0 was invoked but never defined (see the help page).
The problem was that you placed (or "invoked") <ref name=":0"> after the reflist at the bottom of the page, so the software was looking to find the full citation after the reflist. Of course, it couldn't "define" any citation because there isn't one! So if you don't put tags after the reflist anymore, you won't have that problem. I hope I've helped clear this up for you :) Happy editing! ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 15:46, 15 April 2016 (UTC)

Adoption

Hi, I would love to be adopted by you! I am usually active during the morning and early afternoon on weekdays, but I am mostly not available from 3:00 pm to 7:00 am due to classes and then my sleep. On Sundays I will not be on Wikipedia, and Saturdays are questionable. Is this all OK? I know I am not very active, but I guess that's just real life for me! Anyway, I do accept your adoption offer and am very eager to start learning with you! Elsa Enchanted (talk) 17:24, 25 April 2016 (UTC)

@Elsa Enchanted:That's great, Elsa! I'm so glad to have you as my adoptee! Whatever time you are available is fine with me, I understand what it's like to be busy. I'm online most days, and if you need to get a hold of me just leave me a message on my talk page. If I leave for longer than a few days I'll make sure to put a notification on this page, my talk page, and my adoption homepage. The FAQ for my adoption course is located here.
I see that you've done a pretty good job getting around by yourself so far and you've been leaving Teahouse welcomes for the newcomers :) I usually take care of that, but I was not as active last month so I'm so glad you could help out. Don't feel like I'm taking over your job, though: keep it up!
I've set up your adoption "classroom", or page, at User:Missionedit/Adoption/Elsa Enchanted. I would suggest you put the page on your watchlist so you know when I edit it. To do this, you go to the page and click the little blue star near the top. To access your watchlist, you can either go to Special:Watchlist or click the "Watchlist" button in the top right-hand corner of the page. I have some questions waiting for you at your classroom to get us started. ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 18:10, 25 April 2016 (UTC)

Fantastic! I'll be right there! Elsa Enchanted (talk) 18:23, 26 April 2016 (UTC)

Help

Hi, I read on your page that you can make userbox for anyone. Please can you make me a beautiful one like you. Wseef (talk)

Will you make a bookworm userbox? And if you make it, where can I find it to put it on my userpage? Elsa Enchanted 21:17, 28 April 2016 (UTC)
P.S. Did you see I used the threading trick? ;) Elsa Enchanted 21:18, 28 April 2016 (UTC)
@Elsa Enchanted: Nice :D What do want the userbox to say? Something like "This user is a bookworm"? I can put it on a subpage of my user page and tell you where to find it, or I can just put it directly onto your user page if you want. ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 19:40, 29 April 2016 (UTC)

Hi Bivek bhattarai :) I'm so sorry to tell you that I am not currently accepting adoptees because I am so busy in real life. I'm also not really involved with the Counter-Vandalism Unit, so I'm afraid I can't help you there either. It is so great that you want to learn how to help Wikipedia! I just feel as if I took you on as an adoptee I wouldn't have the time to give you the education you deserve. The list of available Adopt-a-user adopters is located at Wikipedia:Adopt-a-user/Adoptee's Area/Adopters. Good luck in your search! ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 21:48, 6 May 2016 (UTC)

Hello, Brifans! It appears that your article was deleted months ago based on the community discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Briana Roy. Your AfC draft, Draft:Briana Roy, was deleted 2 weeks ago because you had not edited it in more than 5 months. I had nothing to do with it, if that is your question. ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 19:25, 21 June 2016 (UTC)

Hoping to come back! :-)

Hello Anastasia,

After a VERY long and ridiculous year of health issues, I am hoping to return to Wikipedia as your Adoptee (if you'll have me). I see that you posted that you are not as active right now, I hope everything with you is ok. Please let me know if you still have room for a "stray" to adopt. I am looking forward to getting busy! Thank you so much! Ask Molly (talk) 20:02, 30 June 2016 (UTC)

@Molly's Mind: Hi Molly! Of course I have room for you. You can start by taking a look at the last lesson I posted. I'm fine, just busy in real life and suffering from a lack of Wiki-motivation. I'm so glad you're back :) ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 04:04, 1 July 2016 (UTC)

Seeking advice

Hello Anastasia, you kindly welcomed me when I signed up with the Teahouse a couple years ago. I've continued to edit and have learned a lot. Of all the pages I've edited on, some of the most controversial seem to be the alt-med topics. In particular the tone on the Rolfing article has gone from a workable truce between strongly opposing sides, to a much more hostile situation. I believe this is partly because one of the strong voices on the "Skeptic" side, who valued good logic and politeness, dropped off and now there is more of an outright power battle. Over the past 5 months, the article content has swayed strongly to the Skeptic viewpoint. There's been hot discussion on the Talk page, including a Request for Comments, which has resulted in a wide mix of opinions and no clear consensus for how to move forward. Since I'm the only semi-experienced editor on the other side of things, I'm having trouble holding ground. I believe we may be at a point of needing to escalate to some sort of arbitration, because yesterday one editor largely rewrote the article without anything resembling consensus. I've reverted to the last version but I suspect this is just the beginning. Can you offer any guidance as to the next steps? Thanks. --Karinpower (talk) 15:34, 13 July 2016 (UTC)

@Karinpower: Wow, this whole thing looks like a big, gooey mess :) I have very little experience in the medical side of Wikipedia, so advice offered in that area might be better given by someone else. How is the dispute going? ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 16:59, 18 July 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for the reply! There is now Arbitration happening on the page, and I don't know much about that process. I understand it means that editors need to tread lightly, so I've actually been staying off the page completely for the moment. Do you know anything about that process, or where I can go to get guidance? I asked at the Teahouse, but got accused of canvassing (unfairly I think). This is the second time where I've gotten reprimanded for asking for help with figuring out how to deal with this situation - it's really hard as a newer editor to figure out how to get help with a contentious situation. Not sure if there is anywhere that you can point me for help, but if so, that would be great. Thanks!--Karinpower (talk) 04:14, 19 July 2016 (UTC)

The NPP backlog now stands at 13,158 total unreviewed pages.

Just to recap:

 • 13 July 2016: 7,000
 • 1 August 2016: 9,000
 • 7 August 2016: 10,472
 • 16 August 2016: 11,500

You naturally don't have to feel obliged, but if there's anything you can do it would be most appreciated. I've spent 40 hours on it this week but it's only a drop in the ocean.--Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 16:57, 28 August 2016 (UTC)

Hi, Anastasia, I'm sorry that I have not been taking the lessons. I have had to take the summer off, and something came up so I will not be able participate in Wikipedia as much. Fixed WP Adopt Profile Issue

@Missionedit: Hello Stasia. It appears that I have fixed the issue where your Adopter profile on the list shows you to be currently accepting adoptees instead of not currently accepting adoptees. I have also removed myself from the Adoptees list since I have graduated :) Cheers, FiendYT 05:23, 21 September 2016 (UTC)

@FiendYT: I appreciate it :) No matter how many times I switch the available parameter to "no", it autocorrects itself to "yes" whenever the page updates. It's very frustrating. ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 15:43, 21 September 2016 (UTC)

Your submission at Articles for creation: ASRA (September 29)

Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed! Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by Abdullah Alam was: This submission's references do not adequately show the subject's notability. Wikipedia requires significant coverage about the subject in reliable sources that are independent of the subject—see the guidelines on the notability of websites and the golden rule. Please improve the submission's referencing (see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners), so that the information is verifiable, and there is clear evidence of why the subject is notable and worthy of inclusion in an encyclopedia. If additional reliable sources cannot be found for the subject, then it may not be suitable for Wikipedia at this time.

SO I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT IS WRONG WITH ARTICLE. GAVE EVERY POSSIBLE INFO I GOT FROM THE INTERNET AND BAND ITSELF, PUT LINKS AS SOURCES. But they rejected it why;/ help. They also deleted my photo which is to be downloaded from google search and band approved it to use *they are Japanese and i helped them.

ASRA アスラ is a Heavy Metal/Pop Japanese band from Sendai Miyagi prefecture created in 2009 year & composed from の 夢華さん(Vo)と Tatsunoriさん(Ba)からコメント。4 people: 2 guitarists, 1 bassist drummer (not featured in any video) & female vocalist . Its creation was based purely on Oriental studded ethnic approach, where each of musicians is dressed in unique costumes. Their music is well known in Asia & their works are often shown at HMV related events. ASRA cooperated with FATE GEAR band in the past giving a live performance in『ROCK of AGES Vol.1』, 2015.12.11 (金) 17:00 by HMV Japan. So far we received MAXI SINGLE『SAMSARA』, 1st ALBUM 『AHURA MASTER -Marga-』, 2nd ALBUM『Maha Pari NIRVANA』& 3rd Full Album called『Sifartin Akashic』was recently released (22 January 2016). Their most famous tracks are Ray-line-raga and Asymmetry Hanuman. ASRA tours mostly around Tokyo, Osaka & Nagoya with no future plans for international trip yet. 民族的アプローチを随所に鏤めたHR/HMを主軸に、 オリエンタルなサウンドと、キャッチーなメロディを融合させた 独自の世界観を構築する。 References

@Keroroslayer: Hi Keroroslayer, and welcome to Wikipedia :) Your article was declined because, as stated by the reviewer, the sources you cited did not show the band to be notable enough to include on Wikipedia. The official website, facebook, and twitter are not independent sources, that is, the band created them. Any group of people can create a website; that does not in itself make them notable enough for Wikipedia. The only other source you provided (HMV) is also not completely independent (it is advertising the concert event, more or less). If you can find some better sources, then you can resubmit the article. If not, now is probably not the time to create an Wikipedia article about ASRA.
As for the photo which was deleted, Wikipedia has very strict copyright policies on what photos you can upload. Basically, the photo has to have been taken by yourself, or, in rare circumstances, a photo taken of something that can't be found anywhere else. If you want to ask more specific questions about this, I would advise you to go to the media copyright questions board and ask there.
Best of luck! ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 03:45, 22 October 2016 (UTC)

@Missionedit hi, dunno if it reaches you but Wikipedia standard is bullsh.it then. I asked the band about the info, got a permission for the photo of theirs (as it is hard to go to Japan for their concert...). About "any group of people can create a website+official website etc band created them" WTF how it isnt a reliable source from a band itself which article is about?!?! ofc any person can create a website but it was them to do so. Or is it me that live on the different planet? How am i supposed to get any other independent source? -do I have to make up words about them -lie? those are every information that could be provided from the internet and the band itself taken into one article. I DONT GET IT...notable enough ugh they were happy that someone decided to write about them on wikipiedia but now i dunno what to do..I WONDER WHAT IS MORE IMPORTANT FOR WIKIPEDIA: THE INFO STRIGHT FROM THE BAND OR INDEPENDENT SOURCES WHICH CAN WRITE LIES ABOUT THEM LOL.

@Keroroslayer: Let me try to clarify: just because a band has an official website does not mean it is notable enough for its own Wikipedia article. Information from band websites can be very helpful in writing an article, but these alone are not enough. Wikipedia is not a place to advertise or write an article based on your own experience and research. It is only a collection of information based on mainly secondary sources. If there are only primary sources, such as band pages and Facebook, this does not mean you should make up stuff about the band. On the contrary, we ask you to wait until the band becomes more prominent of its own accord. You may want to look at the policy page Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not to understand more about this concept.
Don't forget to sign all your posts on talk pages with 4 tildes (~~~~). This leaves your username and the date. ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 04:27, 26 October 2016 (UTC)

91.235.25.1 (talk) 15:49, 27 October 2016 (UTC)Anastasia [Missionedit] @Missionedit but you are aware that it is stupid? The most accurate and real info comes from THE BAND and OFFICIAL site. That's what I did: asked band about them, googled every possible info. How else it can be proved worthy to be published...The way you write about it, wikipedia is a source for noticeable random articles of users only -which can be easily made up...I hate wikipedia and scre.w this article.

New deal for page patrollers

Hi Missionedit,

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC)

New page reviewer granted

Hello Missionedit. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group, allowing you to review new pages and mark them as mark pages as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or in some cases, tag them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is a vital function for policing the quality of the encylopedia, if you have not already done so, you must read the new tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the various deletion criteria. If you need more help or wish to discuss the process, please join or start a thread at page reviewer talk.

 • Be nice to new users - they are often not aware of doing anything wrong.
 • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted - be formal and polite in your approach to them too, even if they are not.
 • Don't review a page if you are not sure what to do. Just leave it for another reviewer.
 • Remember that quality is quintessential to good patrolling. Take your time to patrol each article, there is no rush. Use the message feature and offer basic advice.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In case of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, the right can be revoked at any time by an administrator. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 12:26, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

New Page Review needs your help

Hi Missionedit,

As an AfC reviewer you're probably aware that a new user right has been created for patrolling new pages (you might even have been granted the right already, and admins have it automatically).

Since July there has been a very serious backlog at Special:NewPagesFeed of over 14,000 pages, by far the worst since 2011, and we need an all out drive to get this back down to just a few hundred that can be easily maintained in the future. Unlike AfC, these pages are already in mainspace, and the thought of what might be there is quite scary. There are also many good faith article creators who need a simple, gentle push to the Tea House or their pages converted to Draft rather than being deleted.

Although New Page Reviewing can occasionally be somewhat more challenging than AfC, the criteria for obtaining the right are roughly the same. The Page Curation tool is even easier to use than the Helper Script, so it's likely that most AfC reviewers already have more than enough knowledge for the task of New Page Review.

It is hoped that AfC reviewers will apply for this right at WP:PERM and lend a hand. You'll need to have read the page at WP:NPR and the new tutorial.

Maliibu N Helene

Hello,

I am not sure how to use Wiki- I would like to create a page for both Malibu N Helene and also Helene Britany. I am a music fan. I saw pages for other groups like Clique Girls and School Gyrls and wondered why there was no wiki for Malibu N Helene. They are verified on Facebook, and they have songs on iTunes that I have purchased. I also saw a video of them that Island Records put out. Can you please advise or assist? Maliibu is spelled with two letter I.

@Sarahmelanie9688: Hi Sarah! I'm glad you are looking to contribute to Wikipedia. If you want to create an article about Maliibu N Helene, you're going to need to find some more sources than you have now. According to Wikipedia's golden rule, we need some significant coverage of the duo in sources that are reliable and independent (meaning they are not run/paid by Maliibu N Helene). Out of the sources you found, only a few are independent, and not many are reliable. All together, these sources do not really provide what Wikipedians call "significant coverage". See if you can find some better sources about them, eg. major news outlets, town newspapers, reviews/high chart ratings. If there aren't any, it is probably not the time to create a Wikipedia article about Maliibu N Helene.
Both the Clique Girls and School Gyrls article are supported by mainstream sources, such as the New York Times and the Los Angeles Times and smaller news sources, like Metro Boston. ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 04:49, 26 October 2016 (UTC)

@Missionefit Hi. Thanks for the advise but I am alittle comfused. They are verified on Twitter and Facebook- with the Official Island Records label putting out videos on Vimeo with their trademark on it, Maliibu is on her own Wiki, and they are officially mentioned on Wiki under DJ Muster song Figure 8 that he produced?? If you google them two pages of stuff comesnup by legitimate sources- and lastly look at Island records artist Bishop Briggs who has a Wikipedia but Ive never heard of her and nothing comes up when you google her?? Sarahmelanie9688 (talk) 09:51, 28 October 2016 (UTC)

If they are signed artists to a record label, on Apple Itunes, on Spotify and Vimeo, they obviously didnt put themselves on there, and I dont understand your ststem of how you pick and choose Sarahmelanie9688 (talk) 09:54, 28 October 2016 (UTC)

@Sarahmelanie9688: Hi Sarah, sorry it took me so long to get back to you :) I'll try to clarify: Even if a band/music group has a verified Facebook or Twitter page, these pages by themselves do not make the band notable enough for its own Wikipedia article. I'm not questioning if the band is real, or if it has a record label. According to iTunes, they do. I'm saying that 'just because the group has a record label does not mean it should have its own Wikipedia article. You might want to read WP:MUSICBIO; it is the guideline for how we "pick and choose", as you say, whether a music group worthy of its own article. Bishop Briggs meets notability criteria #2 on that page: her song "River" made the top of U.S. music charts earlier this year. ~ Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 21:46, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

I created a new article and need help

I created a new article about myself at this link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Gangadhar_Panday I need help in organizing it in a way that is acceptable for wiki standards and need inputs on how to improve the article. I am facing the following issues: 1. Even though there was lot of coverage in the media [print and electronic] the same could not be quoted here as the links are not available in archives as they are old. 2. I have photos [ for example: of Awards, Certificates, news articles etc.,] If I want to provide them for verification what is the way. 3. Do I add a heading filmography 4. How to format the content so that it looks like a regular wiki page Any guidance is much appreciated. best wishes - ganga gangactor (talk) 11:51, 18 November 2016 (UTC)

This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

New Page Review - newsletter

Hello Missionedit,
Breaking the back of the backlog
We now have 806 New Page Reviewers! Most of you requested the user right to be able to do something about the huge backlog. Now it's time for action.
Mid July to 01 Oct 2016

If each reviewer does only 10 reviews a day over five days, the backlog will be down to zero and the daily input can then be processed by each reviewer doing only 2 or 3 reviews a day - that's about 5 minutes work!
Let's get that over and done with in time to relax for the holidays.

Second set of eyes

Not only are New Page Reviewers the guardians of quality of new articles, they are also in a position to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged for deletion and maintenance and that new authors are not being bitten. This is an important feature of your work. Read about it at the new Monitoring the system section in the tutorial.

Getting the tools we need - 2016 WMF Wishlist Survey: Please vote

With some tweaks to their look, and some additional features, Page Curation and New Pages Feed could easily be the best tools for patrollers and reviewers. We've listed most of what what we need at the 2016 WMF Wishlist Survey. Voting starts on 28 November - please turn out to make our bid the Foundation's top priority. Please help also by improving or commenting on our Wishlist entry at the Community Wishlist Survey. Many other important user suggestions are listed at at Page Curation.

Please help !

Hi Friend ...

Desperately need help from a Christian friend to "fix" my first attempt to correct some errors on a wikipedia page that someone else created about a publication that my firm published for a non-profit organization: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_New_Authorized_Version

I am overwhelmed with confusion about how to do wikipedia, specifically, how to get rid of this: "This article needs additional citations for verification. Please help improve this article by adding citations to reliable sources. Unsourced material may be challenged and removed. (September 2014) (Learn how and when to remove this template message)"

And how to protect this page from future errors or misrepresentations.

Blessings, grace, and peace.

New Page Review - newsletter No.2

Hello Missionedit,
A HUGE backlog

We now have 806 New Page Reviewers!
Most of us requested the user right at PERM, expressing a wish to be able to do something about the huge backlog, but the chart on the right does not demonstrate any changes to the pre-user-right levels of October.

Hitting 17,000 soon

The backlog is still steadily growing at a rate of 150 a day or 4,650 a month. Only 20 reviews a day by each reviewer over the next few days would bring the backlog down to a managable level and the daily input can then be processed by each reviewer doing only 2 or 3 reviews a day - that's about 5 minutes work!
It didn't work in time to relax for the Xmas/New Year holidays. Let's see if we can achieve our goal before Easter, otherwise by Thanksgiving it will be closer to 70,000.

Second set of eyes

Remember that we are the only guardians of quality of new articles, we alone have to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged by non-Reviewer patrollers and that new authors are not being bitten.

Abuse

This is even more important and extra vigilance is required considering Orangemoody, and

 1. this very recent case of paid advertising by a Reviewer resulting in a community ban.
 2. this case in January of paid advertising by a Reviewer, also resulting in a community ban.
 3. This Reviewer is indefinitely blocked for sockpuppetry.

Coordinator election

Kudpung is stepping down after 6 years as unofficial coordinator of New Page Patrolling/Reviewing. There is enough work for two people and two coords are now required. Details are at NPR Coordinators; nominate someone or nominate yourself. Date for the actual suffrage will be published later.

New Page Review-Patrolling: Coordinator elections

Your last chance to nominate yourself or any New Page Reviewer, See Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Coordination. Elections begin Monday 20 February 23:59 UTC. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 08:17, 19 February 2017 (UTC)

New Page Review - newsletter No.3

Hello Missionedit,

Voting for coordinators has now begun HERE and will continue through/to 23:59 UTC Monday 06 March. Please be sure to vote. Any registered, confirmed editor can vote. Nominations are now closed.

Still a MASSIVE backlog

We now have 806 New Page Reviewers but despite numerous appeals for help, the backlog has NOT been significantly reduced.
If you asked for the New Page Reviewer right, please consider investing a bit of time - every little helps preventing spam and trash entering the mainspace and Google when the 'NO_INDEX' tags expire.
