Ruthless Organization Against Citizen Heroes

[edit]

I don't understand why in the world you deleted the page twice. It's a new page, and we're still gathering resources to post up in the information. My sources were quoted clearly and there was no promotion intended. I would really appreciate it if you contacted me on this. This is childish and I'd like to resolve it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Smeagol92055 (talkcontribs) 18:20, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

2008 Sichuan Earthquake

[edit]

Mate I'm not trying to make a political statement, I'm just trying remain neutral. The page previous to edit was far from neutral. Taiwan's status is "staus quo." Not an independent nation nor part of China. Is that alright?Jackchen123 (talk) 01:02, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I was not aware of this policy. Whilst I do not agree with it I will accept it, and will revert my changes (if not already done so.) Thank you for your advice. Jackchen123 (talk) 09:41, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a page with the code for the notices to say like its being discussed for removal

Hello, Sasquatch. You have new messages at CWii's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

Hello there.

I heard that you are a nice man. Would you be interested in mentoring an autistic user that likes to write articles? Thanks, JeanLatore (talk) 20:34, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The FA-Team

[edit]

Hi. There has been some discussion of how to improve the FA-Team's functioning. It's be grand if you could comment on the new suggested structure, and perhaps also look at our current proposals. Thanks. --jbmurray (talkcontribs) 18:39, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for suspending me, I appreciate it

You said blocked users to email you, duh, i cant even create email, since you people blocked that option.

Is this wrong, do you just look at a person i am protecting, just because of that or some ranting i deserve to be blocked, you could have at least reverted privacy violation then block me, shame on you forever, this certainly will be remembered pal...so nice of you, thank you! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.107.219.187 (talk) 20:06, 31 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi

[edit]

thank you for contacting me on my talk page. where do i begin? i like working on wikipedia, and have had account since early apirl 2008. i like writing articles, and you can see on my user page the ones that i wrote, although i think the "Lo-Ji Sales" one is the best one so far. How to get article to "featured article" status? I wrote Handlebars (song) and that could go FA mayhaps. JeanLatore (talk) 00:21, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi how are you doing? I have a few questions. JeanLatore (talk) 02:07, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

why yes

[edit]

Actually, I just joined "wiki project US supreme ct. articles." I understand what you mean, i'm trying to play it cool w/ other editors on talk space and focus more on article writing. Did you see some of my shit? JeanLatore (talk) 20:53, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You know, I'm starting to get fed up. All i really want to do is write articles on law related topics (and I think I've done a good job for a new editor) but even this seems to draw all kinds of criticism and everytime I interact with any users they jump all over me and accuse me of being "uncivil," "sexist," "obscene," etc. Is it appropriate just to write articles only and have no interaction with other users via talk pages (except for talk messages soley about improvement of the articles)? It seems like everytime I respond to any message on my talk page things fly off the handle... JeanLatore (talk) 04:47, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

thanks

[edit]

Thanks for the heads up on the Florida v. J.L. article. I actually meant to remove the entire link though and not just the disambiguation. The other editor was blatantly overlinking. He/she also wasn't building much good faith by going around adding thinks like this to articles that I had previously removed. A user that refers to women by sexist endearments and uses obscenities on talk pages, as JeanLatore does, stretches good faith to its limits.

For what it's worth, I also have a slight WP:COI fear with JeanLatore. It's probably just a coincidence, but JeanLatore's initials are J.L., as in Florida v. J.L. The user also authored a page about Parole in Florida, something the real J.L. would probably be familiar with. Several other things on JeanLatore's user page would also fit the profile of J.L., but it's a connection that I would say is possible but not probable. Chicken Wing (talk) 01:14, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

(to above comment) Hmmm.... Interesting! Furthermore, I would like to say thanks for the tip on my talk page, Sasquatch... good idea...not responding to messages unless I absolutely have to! I honestly hadn't even thought of that but I am going to apply it from now on. Thanks, JeanLatore (talk) 01:27, 11 June 2008 (UTC).[reply]

Interested in cleaning up an old bridge?

[edit]

Hi Sasquatch. I am planning to nominate Niagara Falls Suspension Bridge for Featured Article, and have greatly expanded it. It is an interesting (I hope) piece on the old suspension bridge hanging near the Niagara Falls. The structure was the first working railway suspension bridge and would not have been started if not for the efforts of William Hamilton Merritt. As you can see from its peer review at Wikipedia:Peer review/Niagara Falls Suspension Bridge/archive1, the contents and layout are generally approved. Comments have pointed out that the article could benefit from another pair of eyes who can correct grammatical mistakes and improve the language. Do you have the time to spare to copyedit this article? Thank you. Jappalang (talk) 22:20, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oil shale extraction

[edit]

Hi, Saquatch. As you are a member of the FA-Team, I would like to ask you assistance. The Oil shale extraction was a FAC, but was not promoted, mostly because of the prose. A-Class review

[edit]

Hey Sasquatch, I was wondering if you could review the Spokane, Washington article for the editors. After you read the article, I believe all you need to do is apply the A-Class criteria to the article and put whether you believe it is worthy of being A-class. Also, in addition to that, it would be helpful if you could include some points for improvement. If you are up to review it, notify me so I can stop looking for reviewers. Thanks! Speedy deletion of Treirut

[edit]

Please see the discussion I started prior to your speedy deletion of this article about a nonnotable recently made up drinking game, at Wikipedia talk:Criteria for speedy deletion#Any CSD category for a newly made up drinking game? I believe that there should be a criterion for speedy deletion of things WP:MADEUP, but the A7 you used does not seem to apply, since the drinking game is not "a real person, an organization (e.g. band, club, company, etc., except schools), or web content." It looks like leaving the PROD in place was the proper move under present policies and guidelines, and that AFD would be the next step if someone removed the PROD. Your comments at the Speedy talk page are welcome. The remedy would be to restore the article and the PROD. Thanks for your efforts to improve the encyclopedia. Deletion of Janusz Brzozowski (Computer Science)

[edit]

I saw that you deleted the article about Janusz Brzozowski (Computer Science) per "A7: No indication that the article may meet guidelines for inclusion". The article stated that Brzozowski is known for his important scientific contributions to computer science, and that he has received several awards. IMHO this indicates at least that the article *may* meet guidelines for inclusion. Indeed, I suppose that google scholar search shows a pass of WP:PROF #1. In any case, I think that a further discussion about whether the article should be kept is in order. Feel free to propose the article for deletion, but let's discuss that point first. Hermel (talk) 08:49, 15 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for restoring the page. I have added a few more infos and references that hopefully provide more evidence of notability.Hermel (talk) 07:44, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Sasquatch! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to this article, it would greatly help us with the current 317 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. Shawn Desman - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Nobel Prize

[edit]

Hello! I found you on the FA team page. You description caught my eye, since you seem interested in science which the Nobel Prize is quite related to. I've been working on the Nobel Prize article now for a while and have managed to get it somewhere between GA and FA status. My goal is to bring it to FA status. However, the article would need some more copy editing/grammar check/general prose improvements and I am not the right person for that. Would you like to help? Cheers Esuzu (talkcontribs) 20:09, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

feem

[edit]

I was reading the discussion about the deletion of the entry feem, and one of the justifications was that nobody would ever look it up. Well, I did - since it was deleted, I was trying to find an archived version (do those disappear when the article itself is deleted? I'm mostly a lurker here) and read the discussion to try to get some sense of what the word meant. Perhaps it should be more of a Wiktionary thing, but it is a *thing* - I found it when I was reading Terry Pratchett's The Last Hero and it came up as a body part on a swamp dragon, but I couldn't tell which part, so I went a-searching. I get the impression that it's a word that's supposed to mean whatever you want it to mean, a little bit like "doohickey" or "doodad", in which case perhaps "feem" could redirect to Placeholder name... though I'm not sure that captures the sense of it either. Could it be an in-joke, as was repeatedly brought up in the deletion discussion? A notable in-joke, though, because it's been taken up in a widely-read series of books. Blue william (talk) 04:29, 1 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • While I have no doubt the subject may fall within the bounds of verifiability, it was written as a dictionary entry. I would suggest that if you want to remake it with verifiable content about its usage and notability (it was not evident in the original article), go ahead and do so. Also note that this article was deleted about 6 years ago... You, by no means, need permission from the deleting admin to recreate articles of any age, especially if they're that old. I hope that helps! Sasquatch t|c 17:24, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

MSU Interview

[edit]

Dear Sasquatch,

My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the communityHERE, where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.

So a few things about the interviews:

  • Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
  • Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
  • All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
  • All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
  • The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.

Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at obar@msu.edu (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your nameHERE instead.

If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at obar@msu.edu. I will be more than happy to speak with you.

Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.

Sincerely,

Jonathan Obar --Jaobar (talk) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 35.9.34.167 (talk) 20:57, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
