Hello Shadowowl,

First thing first, thanks for the review of the draft concerning TRIAL International. Second, as of now, I am not requesting a re-review, but intend to eventually. I do not contest the qualification you used: I am looking forward to improve the article, so it can be reviewed again. My question goes as follow: If a suppress the vast majority of links that refer to the association's website and the content that is linked to it, do you think it might pass the review? If not, what else could be done?

As stated in my profile, I have a COI. I am working with TRIAL International. But independently of that, I love wikipedia and I do not intent to abuse it, nor to use it as a platform to promote the organisation I am working for today.

Best,

Lukas

@Imbrogliomanifeste: The article contains external links in the article's body. They should be removed and replaced by 1 external link at the bottom. As I am not an expert in seeing what's wrong to an COI-article, I suggest asking it at WP:AFCHD. Regards, -- » Shadowowl | talk 16:29, 5 July 2017 (UTC)

Greetings from Venezuela. Friend, a question, why when I search Felipe Arcuri in Google, this page don't show me as result the page of Felipe Arcuri in Wikipedia. Thanks for your future answer. I tried with deletes of moves but nothing. And please, help me there. Thanks again.--Joe Heavy Metal (talk) 16:50, 5 July 2017 (UTC)

I'm not sure I am doing this correctly, but I made the change that Shadowowl identified by getting rid of the externals links section which was redundant to a large degree. If there is something else I should do I am assuming I will be notified. Is that right? This is my first entry and am enjoying learning about the process. Thank you for the help and guidance. Hday0134.

The external links are still in the article, there is no chance I can accept it now. -- » Shadowowl | talk 18:29, 5 July 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for the quick response. I guess I am confused by external links, I am assuming you are not talking about the footnotes. Maybe I put some into the article itself, I will check that and resubmit in a few minutes. Thanks again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hday0134 (talkcontribs) 18:48, 5 July 2017 (UTC)

Hi Shadowowl. I'm writing in regards to the reason for denial of this page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:18Birdies. You stated that the sources should not be produced by the creator, however all 10 of the sources are from independent top-tier media sources. I have not produced any of them. Also, the writing contains no positive adjectives to convey an endorsement, so I'm not sure why it is being referred to as an advert. Other similar pages have less credible sources listed as well. Please advise.

Thanks

Request on 19:12:01, 8 July 2017 for assistance on AfC submission by Dylanchong91

I have recently submitted a draft article to be reviewed, however it has been rejected as it does not qualify the notability test. From my article, i have inserted newspaper stating all the activities and events that this individual was involved in the past. Moreover, i had also included the website for this particular individual showing position or post he held in a political party.

Why is my article being rejected? must this particular individual be a minister or someone very famous for me to write an article on him?

These are the reasons given for my rejected article

"This submission's references do not adequately show the subject's notability. Wikipedia requires significant coverage (not just mere mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject—see the guidelines on the notability of people, the golden rule and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue. Please improve the submission's referencing (see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners and Help:Introduction to referencing/1), so that the information is verifiable, and there is clear evidence of why the subject is notable and worthy of inclusion in an encyclopedia. If additional reliable sources cannot be found for the subject, then it may not be suitable for Wikipedia at this time."

Kindly enlighthen me on how can i improve my article.

Dylanchong91 (talk) 19:12, 8 July 2017 (UTC)

3 references is simply not enough to estable notability. -- » Shadowowl | talk 19:13, 8 July 2017 (UTC)

You declined LaToya Cantrell with the explanation "This article contains external links. They are not permitted in the article's body. Use references instead." Though what you said is perfectly correct, this is not a reason to decline a draft, and I have reverted your review. It's a matter of style, and can be fixed by normal editing. The article is not yet ready for main space, but see the draft for my statement of the actual reason. DGG ( talk ) 03:07, 9 July 2017 (UTC)

Hi, Shadowowl. You declined the submission of the article "sexspionage," but the only feedback you gave me was that Youtube is not a reliable source. In regard to that, I included Youtube because the Saturday Night Live skit I was discussing was available on Youtube. Alternatively, I tried to find the skit on the Saturday Night Live website, but it did not play. Hence, I would like to keep the Youtube clip cited for the convenience of anyone reading the article. Can you please respond before I resubmit the article for review?

Wally7432 (talk) 03:37, 9 July 2017 (UTC)

@Wally7432: I looked to the video and again to the article, and came to the conclusion that the youtube link is not a primary source. It's fine to have it in the article. Feel free to resubmit, I will probably accept. -- » Shadowowl | talk 08:23, 9 July 2017 (UTC)

Hi Shadowowl, thanks for talking the time to review the draft. I have removed all external links and placed them as references. Sorry, as there was an option for external links in the add links tab I didnt realise having these in the actual article body was against guidelines. I hope the new article now meets the apporpriate standards and have resubmitted it for review. Let me if I need any further edits.

Thanks for your additional note, I mised one. All external links have either been removed or converted to references. thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jamesrawson79 (talkcontribs) 01:44, 10 July 2017 (UTC)

Ways to improve NGC 5011A

Hi, I'm Boleyn. Shadowowl, thanks for creating NGC 5011A!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Please add WP:INLINECITE references. at the moment, it is unclear if the external links were actually used as sources or not. Without inline citations (which it is hard for anyone but the writer to add in), it can't reach Good Article status.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

Boleyn (talk) 12:18, 10 July 2017 (UTC)

10:17, 11 July 2017 review of submission for Coke Smyth

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Coke_Smyth

Hello, Can you please provide more feedback as to why these are unreliable sources? I am not sure how much more scholarly you can get than published works and scholarly articles from the reputable Journal of Canadian Art History. The latter even provides an English summary on the last page. As a librarian, I am generally quite versed in the proper citation and use of sources and also the compiling of bibliographic material, so I am slightly confused as to why this second draft has been rejected.

Cheers. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ouvrard (talkcontribs) 14:27, 11 July 2017 (UTC)

Chackoge (talk) 11:25, 13 July 2017 (UTC)

Shadowowl, that is not one of the acceptable reason for declined an AfC. AfCs are accepted as long as they are likely to pass a deletion debate. Details of citation and link style are irrelevant--they are matters to be fixed b7 normal editing. DGG ( talk ) 05:22, 15 July 2017 (UTC)
@DGG:Please view Wikipedia:ELPOINTS#2 before you complain. I am correct at that point. Quite some users remove them and resubmit after I mentioned that there are external links. I am not making my own high standards, they are defined by policy. Are drafts rare exceptions? I don't think so. » Shadowowl | talk 16:24, 15 July 2017 (UTC)

Hey, I had a very confused helpee re: your decline in the above referenced draft. Could you explain what the decline reason was? CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 19:48, 15 July 2017 (UTC)

This was very much not a valid decline reason. I have reversed the decline. Primefac (talk) 23:03, 15 July 2017 (UTC)
In fact, I have just reversed several declines you have recently performed. "Having external links" is not a reason for declining. The stock reasons for declining should cover 99.9% of all declines, and "custom" should only be used if either more than one decline reason fits, or it's something complicated that doesn't quite fit one of the boilerplate responses. Please do not decline any more drafts for inconsequential reasons such as MOS or ELINK violations. Primefac (talk) 23:08, 15 July 2017 (UTC)

Your signature

Hi! I noticed that your signature is currently a transclusion of {{User:Shadowowl/Sig}}. That usually isn't a good idea, since a vandal could come along and change that page, which'll change all of your signatures. There's more information at WP:SIG#NT. If you still want to use that code, you could substitute it (in your preferences, instead of {{User:Shadowl/Sig}}, use {{User:Shadowl/Sig}}), although it would be better to just write the original code in your preferences. Thanks! Enterprisey (talk!) 15:56, 19 July 2017 (UTC)

Hello Enterprisey. I took a look at my sig when substituted, and I decided to take the risk of a vandal vandalising it. A template causes no code overkill. If I substitute my sig, it will produce more text than my average posting. But thanks for informing me! -- » Shadowowl | talk 17:31, 19 July 2017 (UTC)
@Enterprisey: Please take a look at this draft, where my sig ruined the comment. revision -- » Shadowowl Marcos Rodriguez | t | SPI | AIV | Sandbox | Helpdesk » 18:13, 19 July 2017 (UTC)
That happened because your signature contains a pipe character, |, which causes issues when it appears in templates. Try using the template {{!}} to escape it, which renders as |. Thanks for changing your signature to use substitution! As another note, it looks like your signature is about 657 characters in length, but the maximum is 255. Do you think you could maybe remove the last four links from your signature, since editors already know where they are and it would make your signature only 380 characters in length? The CSS classes and span elements aren't necessary either, since I don't think they change the rendering of anything. Having a long signature sometimes makes it harder for others to edit. (Case in point: right now, as I have this section open, half of the edit window is taken up by your signature.) Enterprisey (talk!) 19:21, 19 July 2017 (UTC)

I'm grateful for your thoughtful review of my proposed Maxine Feibelman article for Wikipedia, and so I've been working on correcting the article by removing all peacock terms, editing toward a neutral point of view, polishing the text for a formal encyclopedic tone, and ensuring that citatations are to independent published sources. Before I re-submit the article, may I impose on you for further advice on how to make the article acceptable for Wikipedia? Thanks!

Thanks for having a look at this draft for a former cardiology professor at UCLA. I accept that it still had a hint of the peacock about it - I had already reduced this from the original draft (prepared by others), but given your views have reduced it even further. I note that over the last 6 months there have been some anonymous editors who have put unreferenced comments up regarding his importance in the Vaughan Williams classification, many of which I have reversed! So, I do think some of the claims about him are over-stated, but nevertheless believe that a Wikipedia page is warranted. The subject seem to meet WP:PROF, particularly through his academic post and role in founding a scientific journal. References include a newspaper obituary and a scientic obituary in a peer-reviewed scientific journal; admittedly the one he helped to found (!), but its impact factor reflects its good standing in the field.

Any other suggestions you can make might be helpful; I know the field reasonably well, and have access to a decent library should that be needed. Nevertheless, I think that the current references are sufficient for at least a stub (if not a start). Klbrain (talk) 16:46, 22 July 2017 (UTC)
