Thanks for watching

You're beating me to the reversions on my page!!! LOL. I noticed that during vandal fighting, I sometimes get attacked by those vandals. Well, I hope an admin is watching the ANI page. Thanks for helping out. OrangeMarlin Talk• Contributions 06:38, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

Hehe, no problem. When your userpage gets vandalized it is usually a sign that you are doing something right, so keep it up! shoeofdeath (talk) 06:41, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
I also get into wars with POV warriors. But they usually just troll my talk page.  :) OrangeMarlin Talk• Contributions 06:46, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
Yep, trolling on your talk page is another sign you are doing something right. Unfortunately those editors are tougher to deal with...you can't just throw warning templates at them and report them to AIV if they don't stop. If only everything around here was as simple as reverting vandalism... shoeofdeath (talk) 07:01, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

Hi,

Apologies - I thought that secondhand smoke would be a disambig page. My bad. Nmg20 (talk) 01:29, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

Sure, no problem, thanks for the quick reply. I've found sometimes it is much easier to explain things on talk pages than in edit summaries ; ). Happy editing, shoeofdeath (talk) 01:37, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

User:Mcspoosh

Please do not place final warnings on the talkpages of first time vandals, let them have a few chances. Sacharin (talk) 20:33, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

That was not a first time vandal, it was a repeat vandal who had created multiple accounts. shoeofdeath (talk) 20:34, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
In that case, I stand corrected, I will report the account. Sacharin (talk) 20:37, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

I have requested comment on The China Study, an article which you have edited in the last six months. --DieWeisseRose (talk) 02:24, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

Refresh my memory

Perhaps you would be so kind as to inform me to which article it is that I have (according to you) "vandalized". You see, my memory seems to not be as expansive as I had once assumed, so I cannot recall the article that you are referring to.

Thanks in advanced, champ. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.22.162.130 (talk) 23:25, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

Yesterday someone using this IP vandalized several articles, such as Westminster School (Connecticut). If this was not you, you are using a shared IP address. Create an account if you'd like to avoid such warnings in the future. shoeofdeath 02:03, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for the three reverts on my user page. =) -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 22:26, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

Oh, no problem! Looking at your page history it seems you have made one vandal in particular very unhappy. Fear not, I'm sure they'll tire of pointless attacks eventually. ; ) shoeofdeath 22:38, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
Yes, I have a "fan". Lucky me. =) It's all related to Trenton, Ontario. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 00:51, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

Archives

Hello, Shoe. Is there an archive link? I can't seem to find it. Cheers, Dlohcierekim 00:35, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

Hi there! Right, this issue was brought up last time, I don't keep talk page archives. I know that some people like to look at a candidate's user talk interactions during RfAs so I do apologize for this; in fact, I probably should mentioned something about this in my statement. As you have probably seen I don't receive too many messages, archiving is just something I've never done and as sort of a weird habit still don't do. Again I apologize for this, please let me know if there if anything else. shoeofdeath 01:30, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

Hey shoe, just wanted to drop you a real quick line here. It looks like your RfA will close successfully, but it looks like you've got a couple in the neutral section who would swing over if you said you'd start keeping archives. I know that you said above there that it's just a weird habit of yours, but it makes things a ton easier when you or other people are trying to look through your talk page history for a certain thread or comment. I'd certainly rest a bit easier if you'd start doing this. Thanks for your time. :) GlassCobra 04:57, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Ah, yes, I see, thanks for the heads up. I was actually looking through some admin talk pages earlier and have decided I'm almost definitely going to start some sort of archive system. Please rest easy! shoeofdeath 07:27, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
Okay, great. :) If it's easiest on you, the method that you suggested in Q18 on your RfA would be perfectly acceptable. However (and I should have mentioned this sooner), you can actually set up one of our various archive bots (ie. MiszaBot III) so that no work on your part is involved. GlassCobra 11:14, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
Ya, I think I'm going to use the Jiang method. I am in fact aware of the archive bots, but me being lazy (not denying this ; p) actually has nothing to do with my desire not to create separate pages. See the second box on this user's talk page for a partial explanation. shoeofdeath 17:28, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

RfA

Hey, I left you a few questions. Feel free to take your time. Cheers, Tiptoety talk 01:02, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

Yes, I see, thank you. Sorry if it takes me awhile to get to the questions, at the moment I am busy with something. Hopefully I will get to at least some of them tonight, if not by tomorrow for sure. shoeofdeath 01:30, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
Hey dude, good luck on your RfA. Just relax, as Jimbo says "Adminship is not a big deal". SHOE! Dfrg_msc 07:20, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
Thank you! I've found that staying busy off-wiki and only logging in once or twice a day has worked in keeping me from worrying too much. shoeofdeath 01:08, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

*Nudge, nudge*. You have a few unanswered questions on your RfA. =) нмŵוτнτ 08:26, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

Oh! Thank you for letting me know, I must have missed those when I checked last night. I’ll get to them right away. shoeofdeath 18:06, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
No worries. нмŵוτнτ 18:49, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

You are now an administrator

Congratulations, I have just closed your RfA as successful and made you an administrator. Take a look at the administrators' how-to guide and the administrators' reading list if you haven't read those already. Also, the practice exercises at the new admin school may be useful. I am new to Wikipedia. I wrote both Fatherhood Dreams website and Wikipedia stuff. It's my words so please put the site back up. If you need me to do anything, let me know. I have restored the article, but keep in mind it may still be deleted if it is not found to satisfy notability requirements. shoeofdeath 19:30, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

Russell D. Longcore article, deleted 21 Mar 08

Dear Sir:

How dare you delete the article about me? I got no comment from you, no discussion, nothing. I will most certainly make a complaint against you and request arbitration of some other form of redress.

Russell Longcore65.12.169.113 (talk) 14:52, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi Russell, since the article about you was previously deleted in an Articles for Deletion discussion it qualifies for deletion immediately (see the links in the deletion summary). If you wish to appeal the decision you should take it to Wikipedia:Deletion review. I would also encourage you or your publishers to read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and Wikipedia:Autobiography. shoeofdeath 15:35, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

Dan Rosenberg deletion????

How can you delete a page with no warning or notice? Please explain. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.225.202.10 (talk) 19:15, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

The content in the recently created article about him did not differ significantly from the article that was deleted at AfD, which is why it was speedy deleted. I see that you have already brought this to Deletion Review, so we will see what others think on the matter. Remember that simply being an actual person does not qualify someone to have an encyclopedia article about them, and that individuals need to satisfy notability criteria in order to stay on Wikipedia. shoeofdeath 22:21, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

I can't believe it

Special:Contributions/Brachman (edit: and some more). How did you notice? – sgeureka tc 07:34, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

And I see you marked User:PaxJudaeana as a sockpuppet but didn't block him or anything, although he was still editing last week. Were you unsure about your conclusion, or aren't you comfortable with your admin tools yet? (I just want to know whether I can approach you and not necessarily Kusma in such matters from now on.) – sgeureka tc 07:43, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
Hey there, it's been awhile. I was thinking of posting something over at WT:SU about this anyway. So, in addition to Brachman, I stumbled upon Special:Contributions/Maddaey, Special:Contributions/Draghi, Special:Contributions/Voelgyi, and Special:Contributions/PaxJudaeana the other day while looking at some of his old pages (none of which would have been caught on Special:RecentChangesLinked/Wikipedia:SU, maybe that was intentional). I tagged and blocked the last two (what made you think I didn't block PaxJudeana?) because he used those more than once and because they were active relatively recently. My guess is that there are probably more socks I missed, but I'm not sure.
I haven't started cleaning up anything yet, and I haven't decided how much of it to delete per g5. With the surname pages especially, I have no real motivation to start cleaning them up like before. So, if you have some time, maybe you could quickly scan through the contribs pages above and see if there are any articles you want to give the old "cleanup per WP:SU" treatment to : p. Otherwise I will probably get rid of most of the surname pages (now with new bizarre format of putting the template at the top) and fix the bio pages myself. As for your last question, you can definitely come to me with this stuff in the future (although I will probably be inactive over the summer again). Also feel free to ask if you need any sort of admin help, SU-related or not. shoeofdeath 22:01, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
Thank you. what made you think I didn't block PaxJudeana? - I accidently checked whom PaxJudaeana blocked, not who blocked PaxJudaeana. I am pretty sure I'll look over at least the surname pages in the sockpuppets' contributions. – sgeureka tc 20:07, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Other sock contribs to be cleaned up eventually, putting here for convenience: Special:Contributions/Sportsnewly, Special:Contributions/Tolkowski, Special:Contributions/Abfalter. shoeofdeath 16:14, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

Others

I'm really angry towards you!!!! Why did you delete the question about why Nick Rhodes was in South Park movie????

--81.228.158.173 (talk) 13:08, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

You do seem to have annoyed this fellow. Which I suspect was a good thing. Carptrash (talk) 14:35, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
It would seem so. Unfortunately I have absolutely no idea what this person is talking about. The Nick Rhodes article, which I have never edited, does indeed mention that he was in the South Park movie, although I should probably delete this now as uncited trivia. shoeofdeath 17:26, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Wanna try a histmerge?

Hi. I am in the process of cleaning up and rearranging my userspace a little, and I have a request that needs an admin, so I thought I'd bother you. :-) Can you hist-merge User talk:Sgeureka/Carnivàle (yes, only the talkpage) into User:Sgeureka/Sandbox, so that only the real sandbox remains? The way it is done is described at Wikipedia:How to fix cut-and-paste moves#An easy case. I am fully aware what this will mean for the page history, but that's what I want. Take your time (if you're going to do it). – sgeureka tc

Blockage of 70.40.247.172‎

Thanks for the block, I was waiving the 3RR to attempt to stop his edits to my user page. I noticed that you forgot to add the block notice to his talk page, so I just added the generic template. Feel free to edit as you see fit. Just wanted to make sure he is aware of the appeal process. Thanks! --Dbo789 (talk) 06:38, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

Sure, I was working on something else in another window and was about to add the template when you beat me to it. Always remember to subst user templates though (and 3RR doesn't apply to vandalism and especially harassment like that). Keep up the great work reverting vandalism, and never let nonsense like that bother you. shoeofdeath 06:52, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

Name for Capsicum

Hello. I just woke up with burning question for a native speaker, and I thought you would just ask you: What is the everyday name used for the vegetable on the right? It's a very popular vegetable where I live, but I have never heard its official English name "Capsicum" before. Thanks. :-) – sgeureka tc 09:45, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

Haha, well, in the US at least, "capsicum" would never be used in everyday conversation (apparently in the UK/Australia it is used – I personally don't recall ever hearing this word spoken either). In general the vegetables in the picture would be called "bell peppers", but usually people refer to them as "red peppers", "green peppers", or "yellow peppers". Interesting that the German word is Paprika, which in English only refers to the spice. Some say they all taste similar, but I much prefer red peppers to the others. Something to do with color affecting taste, maybe ; ). shoeofdeath 18:28, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
It's a week later and I completely forgot to thank you. So, "thank you". :-) – sgeureka tc 11:40, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
Anytime, and thanks to you for adding some color to my talk page with this picture : p. I think I'll move to the top, actually, kind of like a bell pepper welcome mat. Very distinctive. shoeofdeath 17:56, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
