SF II Glitches

While I am fully aware of how glitches have affected his gameplay (Though "massive influence" is debatable, seeing that SFII was succeeded by newer games relatively quickly), it really has no place in a general wiki. Hi there I have recently been watching that you have deleted my contributions in the smash bros brawl page and that you leave me some messages Im sorry for disturbing you that was not my point the only thing I wanted was to add some GOTY awards the game has won and to let people know about this, you know sometimes it is interesting. I had also saw that you said that it was a obscure site, to be honest actually I thought that was fun, but I think that at least the gamefaqs contribution should be in the page, I know that it is a poll but it is the official poll of the site and is what the people of the site thought, so I think people may find this interesting and also it could help to complement the overall page. There are already plenty of awards listed in the article, enough to make the point that SSBB was a widely, universally praised game. Fan polls or small, obscure sites are generally not the type of sources Wikipedia relies on to provide information, don't prove much information in the first place, and don't carry any distinction. Next time, please check page histories for reasoning for the removal of content you post, because it's mildly frustrating when someone ignores it and adds it back without a word. Re: Q (Street Fighter) - TEDS's now also inserting blatant disinformation, time to do something about it

"Despite appearing only in SFIII, Q was voted most popular out of 85 Street Fighter characters in Capcom's own poll for the 15th anniversary of Street Fighter.[1]" Which is a lie (Chun-Li was first, Q was only 39th). And this "Q is being tracked by the CIA because of his presence in numerous strange disasters." in the reception section is of course incredibly idiotic and either he's just trolling or he's completely disattached from reality.

Also, he's just did it to Mortal Kombat characters and others too. You sound like you have more experience dealing with TEDS than I do, so if you think there should be a move to ban him and his IP, then go ahead. It's only Q, it's many Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat and Tekken characters (used to be even more, but I had several of them done more properly in meantime), also the puppets from the Puppet Masters films and this puppet thing from 9, also really obsessively uploading the same pictures over and over again (deleted every time). You reverted four times. You may not be counting the series of edits ending at 1:45 UTC, but it constituted a revert. You actually removed material added by the other editor (one small piece), but even if you hadn't, you removed other material from the article, and a revert doesn't have to be involve the same material. Akuma reception and promotion

There should be listed all lists in which Akuma appears and on which place. That is supposed to show his success and greatness in fighting video game world. just like for every other character. In their reception every list in which they appear is written. Then why not on Akuma's promotion, too? He's a great and good character, and his reception should be long. To show other gamers and others who see it how badass he is. Everybody needs to know that. And he's my favourite character overall, that's the reason why I always revert that long reception. When I edited that Cheat Code Central placed him 4th in their list (Top 10 hidden characters in video games) i didn't knew it was done by some random user back then. Who can modify or edit the templates?

I have discovered that I can't edit templates that regard mostly semi-protection. Some semi-protected articles have a bit of an error in their descriptions on the templates especially for living people. Administrators are the people who have the power to add/remove protection to articles, with the templates mostly being added/removed/edited by bots based on what the admin has done. Changing the templates doesn't change the type of protection of a page, which is why you shouldn't touch them. Move protection

Some articles are missing their padlock templates when they are move protected. "{{pp-move-indef}}" does not show "This article is move-protected indefinitely in response to an ongoing high risk of vandalism". But Wikipedia is under development with that. See if you can contact Wikipedia if they can fix "{{pp-move-indef}}" so the padlock and description shows anytime in the future for some articles. VGPHD (talk) 15:10, 27 May 2013 (UTC)

Your recent edits

I see you have been removing a lot of content, for example, at Chun-Li. A character being popular and/or effective among players, to the extent where they can continually win international tournaments, would seem to be professional reception (to be considered alongside public reception, critical reception, etc.)

If you think reception is not the right place for it, based on your own preconceptions, then by all means move it, as somebody else has done, to the "Gameplay" section.

If you look up things like Subaru Impreza/Audi A4/Honda Accord/Lotus Esprit, they all have very well developed Motorsports sections, with photos, tables of results, etc, and even lap times. See your talk page. Tournament performance is not reception and doesn't really fit into gameplay either. Also, bringing up those articles = WP:OSE type of example, motosport racing has proven notability anyway. These are not "[my] own preconceptions." This is just how Wikipedia works. OK, so you think it doesn't fit into any of the other sections. Big deal, we just create a new section on Competition. The point is, we already know Capcom make games with tournament play in mind (even if it's not their primary focus). See David Sirlin's involvement with SSF2T-HDR, or their range of official tournament sticks, or whatever. So it makes sense to include these major international events. Note that I'm not attempting to include the monthly Basildon ice-rink under-16's charity fund-raising cup here. So a character can be judged on lots of things: originality/cosmetic appeal, opinions from journalists, mass-market popularity, and the thing they are designed to do- ie win against other characters (and the main data we have for this is tournament results and online league tables)

The thing is, does it deserve a new section? So let's say Daigo wins another Evo, big deal for him, it's Evo. But does the fact that he used Ryu/Yun/Ken/Akuma/whatever really a noteworthy detail worth mentioning in an article? It's already hard enough to prove the notability of a top player winning a US major, since not many reliable sources outside of the FGC really covers events like UFGT or Final Round or SCR. Again, you're getting too hung up on the identity of the player. Are you saying it's not notable that a Chun player would win 7 years running? And it's not one player. It's five different players. As for your dismissiveness of results - again, it's what the characters were designed for. It helps to make the character notable (in fact, it could work the other way, with Dan being notable as a "feeble character", per the very first paragraph of his article - it would be notable if somebody won something major with him). All this other crap about the story and who knows who else's dad is the fancruft. Yes, I am saying that it's not notable that Chun won an event for seven years, and I'm also saying that you have yet to provide any sort of proof. You call current articles fancruft. Character bios are not fancruft. It would start getting into fancruft if we opened a section on Ryu's supposed hatred of spiders or the like. In fact, looking at the article on fancruft on here, you could argue that adding tournament results constitutes fancruft: They relate to " a selection of content is of importance only to a small population of enthusiastic fans of the subject in question," the fans in question being fans of the FGC. A bit random, but I happened to see this. It shows how strongly the character's skills have been designed in the games she features in. Being a very popular character, an easy case could be made that this puts her dominance at an even higher level; you just have to write it well. It is relevant to anyone who is interested in this character, certainly as much as a popularity poll or a "top ten favorite <x>" from some video game site, and I don't see how you could argue anything else. I'll copy-and-paste what I told the IP: "[R]esults aren't a good way to show character strength and aren't as objective as they seem. Anomalies show up in results too often to use them as proof for the strength of X character, and can be affected by preferences by players in a certain region to player skill." You didn't have to remove the sources, but it's fine, I've already restored them. It turns out one of the bits in there was unsourced info, so good thing you got that. Next time, though, you don't need to go on my talk page. Please use edit summaries so that people can see your reasoning for making certain edits. Otherwise, it makes you intentions unclear.

Hi, regarding the flags in the EVO Result, I'm aware they do not represent ethnicity as the US ones would be very different if that was the case. Exactly because of that is why the correct flag is Puerto Rico. Widescreen Melee

Did you know that SSBM can be on a 16:9 widescreen version by using the widescreen hack option through dolphin? That one enhances screen, but does cause glitches though. Hi, I couldn't help but notice you keep editing out my contribution to the "Home Media" section of the Cowboy Bebop article. The fact that the "Perfect Sessions" contains 6 DVDs is far from redundant as there is a very common bootleg floating around that contains only 3. Number of discs is already mentioned, and it's not really needed in the table. "Redundant" was mainly referring to the source you added, since it said pretty much the exact same things as the what the source that was already there said. I stand corrected on the source redundancy. I placed the entry in the table because it allows for quick at a glance consumption of the information. I suppose one could argue that the entire entry in the table regarding the "Perfect Sessions" is unnecessary, convenience in general is. Regarding the "slightly unrelated note", I don't use wikipedia as a primary product purchasing source, nor did I say that I did, but had I happened to have read the article and seen that information I and perhaps others would have noted an irregularity to look into. First off, think of it like this. In a movie you have characters. In a video game you have characters. The movie has actors and actresses portraying these characters. In animated movies, you have actors and actresses provided voice towards the characters. This is where the big chunk of equivalence is in place. Video games have always used voice actors voice these characters. They're portraying the character just like they would in a movie. Also, these voice actors aren't "no names". No, you didn't say they were no names. But these voice actors actually are notable. If you check websites like behindthevoiceactors and do some research, you'll clearly see how notable a lot of these voice actors are. For instance, the voice of Zhong Hui in both Dynasty Warriors 7 and Dynasty Warriors 8 is provided by the same person who provided the voice for Timon from Timon and Pumbaa, Axel in Kingdom Hearts, and Reno in Final Fantasy? If you want to include the voice cast, there is absolutely no need to insert a comprehensive list of every one in an article. A bit in the development section explaining their roles or providing other info would be more appropriate, or just making note of them in the character list article (which I'm pretty sure the Dynasty Warriors series has). Just a bare-bones list just doesn't really cut it most of the time. I'm looking at WP:GAMECRUFT again and double checking to make sure I didn't miss anything and I still see nothing that justifies one extremely long list in the game articles. Hi, you undid a bunch of the edits I had made for the National History Bee and Bowl page without giving any good reason why. A good amount of what that page currently had listed was either irrelevant (e.g. the European division is not in fact a part of the National History Bee and Bowl and should not be listed there), inaccurate (various game play rules have changed since the past edit), or not worthy of the consideration they were being given (the broadcast on History gets too much weight in the old version - that was two years ago and History is no longer televising it). If there are formatting errors or style guidelines that need fixing, I can appreciate that. However, the new version of the site is far better than the old. Yes, this is David - thanks for reverting to the adjustments I had made. If there's a better way to rework the site from an aesthetic standpoint, go ahead; it's the content that I was particularly concerned about. I would be fine with somewhat fewer subject headings, for example, although I think having the National Champions listed where the different competitions are discussed works better than having them all listed together at the bottom, since that would get rather long. I'm also potentially open to splitting the article into "National History Bee" "National History Bowl" and "US History Bee" although that might make more sense in a year or two, once there's more to add for the US History Bee. Finally, the US Geography Challenge page needs renaming to US Geography Olympiad, and a redirect should be added to US Geography Challenge so that it points to the site with the name change. USGC was renamed to USGO last April. If you could help with that, that would be great. Square-Enix and Nobuo Uematsu

Hi, you recently deleted my expanded details added to both the Square-Enix page and Nobuo Uematsu.

As detailed in the former, that business strategy was part of their strategy in the beginning of their formation and should be detailed as such as it clearly made up their development output. The information is taken straight from Square-Enix's own presentation taken from their official website circa July 2003 - so it is in fact a legitimate and useful resource. If there's a a better way to convey that information whether through written words or placement on the page, let me know as I see it as essential to the foundation of the company.

As for Nobuo Uematsu, should it not be fully detailed as to why he left the company? He explains in that interview that the location moving wasn't the only reason, that it included the company culture overhaul and his own dissatisfaction with his role through that. For Uematsu, the source listed says nothing about a "fortune teller" making SE move offices, quote is unnecessary and badly inserted into the page. No need to quote so much when the details are already sufficiently summarized. I have similar complaints about the addition to the SE page. You just plopped your stuff there, and it didn't fit very well. I don't think it fits in very well in "business strategies", and would probably fit better elsewhere in a better-summarized form. Actually the source directly cites the fortune teller story with this quote:

So yes, it is part of the reason according to Nobuo Uematsu himself. I similarly find your revisions on the expanded details odd seeing as how a move in location was not the only reason for his leaving and leaving it as such gives the wrong impression as stated by the man himself. As for Yoichi Wada's authorship, he was the president of the company at that time and he decided what the business strategies would be. Regardless, it's representative of the company at large seeing as how that slide presentation is taken from their official website. Huh, I missed the fortune teller part when looking over the Uematsu interview. My bad, sorry! I still believe that no quote or a shorter/shortened quote would be more appropriate in the article. A quote box at the side of the page would also be better. Really long quotes just does not make for good prose.

I understand the Wikipedia policy and reasoning behind preserving older posts, and I thank you for being part of the solution in upholding the quality and integrity of posts on this site; however, the post in question (in the Street Fighter Alpha 2 page) mentions my exact name (including middle initial) and the state in which I currently reside. These comments from ten years ago reflect on me personally in a negative light. Unfortunately, these statements of "my" illiteracy and incompetence is one of the first results on Google when someone searches my name. I have recently finished my master's degree and am seeking employment with several major corporations that do thorough research on potential employees, and I fear these comments may become a hindrance to me when HR representatives search my name for potential employment. The changes I have made in the discussion forum have little-to-no effect on anyone else whatsoever. On the other hand, leaving those comments may potentially lead to me being negatively affected a great deal. I would really appreciate your consideration on this matter. Thank you! I really appreciate the changes. As far as the link you included is concerned, it directs you to the original article that they were referring to in the discussion page mentioning my name (the earliest posting in this article's history page). Earlier this afternoon I found the original posting to which they were referring, and I attempted to remove the name and state from the end of the post. I then left the comment (now showing above) that states why I was making the change. Regardless, I quickly received an automatic message from Wikipedia's "Cluebot" stating that my changes had been automatically undone (therefore the name and state still show). I was unaware of some of the editing policies on this site prior to attempting the changes. This is my first time using the back-office of Wikipedia, and I created this account today merely in hopes of removing my name from the post. Hopefully this clarifies any confusion on the matter. You've not only deleted my contributions, you dare call them vandalism? And how's that?

I pointed out on the page of actress/comedianne Andrea Savage that her character on the rather wretched "Sweet Valley High" TV series, her Renata Vargas was hot for Todd Wilkins. He, to use my own quote " ...WAS HER DREAMBOAT." She starts to fall in love with him when he gives her a driving lesson. And when Todd's girlfriend (Elizabeth) has an affair with Devon Whitelaw, she responds by having an affair with Todd. She calls him "her soulmate." Everything I write is scientific fact! Well most of the time--except in the event of those slight mistakes.

One more thing--I would put on the "Ed Wood, Jr." page after the line his then-wife announced to the world, "The world has lost a great writer." I contributed the finishing line--"And there were some who snickered at that."

Now... that's not a disruptive edit. That's not "vandalism." If you read the book "The Golden Turkey Awards," that's all actually written there. It's true. The man was said to have a tin-cauliflower ear for dialouge. And it's not as if there were people who believed he could at least construct a good plot or memorable characters. And as a director, the man was like Helen Keller if she was just blind, deaf, dumb and dead--and never worked a miracle in her life. Still... his novels on his true passion (transvestism) are said to be classics--by others in the field who share his "philosophy of life."

Well... take that any way you see fit.
