Block of Oof^2
Hi. I think you were overly harsh with Oof^2, who test edited the article Eagle Valley High School. He made three test edits in just a few minutes and he got blocked. You didn't exhaust the test warning templates, didn't give him a chance to read the warnings and didn't even welcome him to Wikipedia. From Wikipedia:Please do not bite the newcomers, "Remember Hanlon's Razor. Behavior that appears malicious might be from ignorance of our expectations and rules. Even if you are 100% sure that someone is a worthless, no-good Internet troll, vandal, or worse, conduct yourself as if they are not. Remember that the apparent test editors have the potential to be tomorrow's editors." And from the policy Wikipedia:Vandalism, editing tests by experimenting users are not considered vandalism unless "a user continues to make test edits despite receiving numerous warnings", but, again, the three test warnings series was not even exhausted, so I don't think he received numerous or fair warnings. Give some lov to new editors. Thinker78 (talk) 21:53, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
- Thinker78, I don't see how these three edits Oof^2 has made are "test edits". They are obviously not test edits, and the user also made misleading edit summaries stating that he "changed school website link to the real one", while in reality, just simply changed the already official link to the school website to an image hosted on gamebanana.com, and also "Added School Mascot". I did give him warnings, yet he seemed to refuse to read it and just continued to vandalize the article. As for the "
didn't even welcome him to Wikipedia
" part and the mentioned WP:BITE, that was a guideline, not a policy; this user caused deliberate damage to the article to the point where I ignored WP:BITE, and just flat out give him warnings until I had enough and reported the user to ANV as a vandalism-only account. This user possibly knows too much for an everyday new user, such as vandalism a minute after he migrated to the English Wikipedia. Including the block and the warnings, that wasn't done to bite a user; it was to prevent further disruption to the project itself. Regards, theinstantmatrix (talk) 23:59, 10 November 2017 (UTC)

Oružjem protivu otmičara (1995)
Greetings, Theinstantmatrix!
As I'm not sure whether you'll read a message in Serbian, I shall type this one in English. I'm a newbie to Wikipedia and I wanted to create a page dedicated to the first album by the power-pop band Oružjem protivu otmičara (eng. Oruzjem protivu otmicara). However, it seems that you reported two of the photographs that I added to the page as violating copyright laws. Considering that I do other things in life and can't possibly be bothered with reading zounds of Wikipedia pages regarding copyright, I've come to you, asking "What have I done wrong?". There certainly is a catch as to how one should upload album covers to Wikipedia, and it would mean a lot to me if you were to show me this catch. Please know that it was never my intention to violate any copyright laws, and it most certainly wasn't my intention to take anything away from a band that I so truly admire.
Please get back in touch soon.
Yours faithfully, Apples3.14

Some baklava for you!
Thank you very much.[1] Ber31 (talk) 05:26, 19 November 2017 (UTC) |
- @Ber31: You're welcome! This is part of some kind of long-term abuse where this user uses proxy IPs to revert mostly good-faith contributions and issue bogus warnings. The editors and admins are currently working to rollback the proxy reverts and block those IPs, but he just simply switches to a new IP to evade those blocks. It's getting late in the night here (Eastern Standard Time, at this time of post it's 1:44 AM), so I stopped rollbacking and let another editor do the rest. theinstantmatrix (talk) 06:44, 19 November 2017 (UTC)
- Just a note here, this similar thing also happened back on the very beginning of October. theinstantmatrix (talk) 07:34, 19 November 2017 (UTC)
Infobox settlement - Thank you!
You were reverted, but the intention was to revert IP 114. Thank you! Also to User:Mr. Guye. Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Ounkazi&action=history
There are ca 12 000 articles still calling the uppercase variant and missing the namespace in the comment. 400 000 other calls are OK already. The most recent article using uppercase call is from 2012. But only few after June 2009 (date of infobox renaming) do so, mostly created by User:Dr. Blofeld. 80.171.244.112 (talk) 06:11, 19 November 2017 (UTC)
- See response above. Can't ping IPs... theinstantmatrix (talk) 06:44, 19 November 2017 (UTC)

Hey, why did you delete the user profile I wrote? What was wrong with it?! I thought I was supposed to put some information about myself into the user profile to let people know that I'm someone who's trying to help with constructive input and not just one of those jerk that clog up the internet with their prattle. But maybe I got that wrong, so please let me know what earned this new user such a harsh welcome. My spare time is limited, so I can't keep writing user profiles and other things just for the wastebin. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Stuventiger (talk • contribs) 13:56, 30 November 2017 (UTC)
- Your user page at Commons are not deleted. I have already removed the speedy deletion notice and also here from your pages as a false positive. Sorry about that. Should keep reminding myself that rushing through my job is never going to work. theinstantmatrix (talk) 15:57, 30 November 2017 (UTC)
- It was deleted, but sorry for bothering you with this. Since I saved what I put in there, I'll just put it online again. And thanks for doing your best to protect us from the jerks I was referring to in the above entry. :)
- Ah, and now I got a message about what I'm supposed to do differently. All right. Sorry again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Stuventiger (talk • contribs) 20:59, 30 November 2017 (UTC)
