Edit Wars on Marsh & McLennan companies

Please stop moving large portions of Oliver Wyman history to other Marsh & McLennan pages without contributing to talk pages. As far as I understand, the content on the "Marsh & McLennan" page is about their primary business, insurance broking; the content on "Mercer" is about their primary business, human resources consulting; and the content on Oliver Wyman is about their primary business, management consulting. MMC has a long and well-documented history of confusing name changes, "[t]he history entails so many reorganizations and changing of org charts that the archives would confuse even the most intelligent consultants" as noted by Managemement Consulted, and reliable sources should be added before reorganizing the Wikipedia pages. Guild of Copy Editors June 2019 Newsletter Hello and welcome to the June newsletter, a brief update of Guild activities since March 2019. You can unsubscribe from our mailings at any time; see below. Election time: Nomination of candidates in our mid-year Election of Coordinators opened on 1 June, and voting will take place from 16 June. Coordinators normally serve a six-month term and are elected on an approval basis. Self-nominations are welcome. If you've thought of helping out at the Guild, or know of another editor who would make a good coordinator, please consider standing for election or nominating them here. June Blitz: Our June blitz will soon be upon us; it will begin at 00:01 on 16 June (UTC) and will close at 23:59 on 22 June (UTC). The themes are "nature and the environment" and all requests. March Drive: Thanks to everyone for their work in March's Backlog Elimination Drive. We removed copyedit tags from 182 of the articles tagged in our original target months October and November 2018, and the month finished with 64 target articles remaining from November and 811 in the backlog. GOCE copyeditors also completed 22 requests for copyedit in March; the month ended with 34 requests pending. Of the 32 people who signed up for this drive, 24 copyedited at least one article. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here. April Blitz: Thanks to everyone who participated in the April Blitz; the blitz ran from 14 to 20 April (UTC) inclusive and the themes were Sports and Entertainment. @Nfitz: he seems to be more transparent now about getting his information correct. I'd rather he explain his reasoning about what's incorrect, and allow us to find corroborating sources. Turn a blind eye to Arbcom rulings and recently blocked sockpuppets? The most recent disciplinary action was about 10 weeks ago, and this has been going on since February 2006. Meanwhile they are allowed to make make false claims about other editors? Surely someone with a 13-year history of this, has wasted enough time and resources, that they shouldn't be mollycoddled while they continue to break the rules. I just saw the latest, after my comment above. Instead of working co-operatively, he has accused me of smears and retaliation (even though the text that seems to offend him is unchanged since my first edit of the page!). That is not acting in good faith, nor being transparent. This is why he was blocked in 2006. He behaves as if everything is a personal attack, even edits that are trying to improve the article, and make it lessmore neutral. Or at least make it look like it wasn't total self-written puffery. June Blitz: From 16 to 22 June, we copy edited articles on the themes of nature and the environment along with requests. 12 participating editors completed 35 copy edits. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here. July Drive: The year's fourth backlog-elimination drive was a great success, clearing all articles tagged in January and February, and bringing the copy-editing backlog to a low of five months and a record low of 585 articles while also completing 48 requests. Of the 30 people who signed up, 29 copyedited at least one article, a participation level last matched in May 2015. Final results and awards are listed here. August Blitz: From 18 to 24 August, we copy edited articles tagged in March 2019 and requests. 12 participating editors completed 26 copy edits on the blitz. Category:Schedule II banks in Canada

Hi Tim,

You said I made some good points re: Category:Schedule II banks in Canada, but you haven't followed up with my reply whereby I requested you re-evaluate your vote. In light of recent AfDs of Schedule II (foreign-owned) banks that have now closed with either delete, merge, or redirect, might you take a second look at the number of redirects in that category and consider that this now amounts to WP:SMALLCAT, WP:NARROWCAT, and possibly WP:TRIVIALCAT? In short, it's no longer needed as a category.

To your point about noting in the articles their Schedule II bank status, that doesn't change with this.

Timtempleton, Okay, but I can't delete the category. It works on consensus, so if the admins see your oppose vote, it'll probably get closed as no consensus, which favours keeping. @Georgiamarlins: No problem - I'm here to help. You want to indent the comment so people can see the replies. To do that, you put in a ":" at the front. Here's more info Wikipedia:Indentation. When I click on the tab on top of your talk page where it says new section, it creates a new section. I'm automatically notified whenever anyone posts on my talk page. When I reply to you on my talk page, and want to notify you, I put in a reply template {{re|Georgiamarlins}}. That pings you. Here's more info Template:Reply to. When someone posts on someone else's talk page, they usually add that page to their watch list so they can see the response without that talk page's "owner" having to ping them. @Georgiamarlins: Each reply is indented with an additional colon, for readability. I recommend you read this first Help:Your first article. It's very hard to write good articles, and it takes a long time for them to be reviewed, so you don't want to spend a lot of time unless you know you are getting it right. You will also have come challenges with the English - Wikipedia is very hard for non-native speakers. I wouldn't worry about reviewing other articles yet - I think that's a long ways away. I'd just focus on learning how to edit other articles for now. By the way - what made you decide to start numeric text to articles that already had numbers? It seems an odd way to contribute. @Timtempleton: Well its not a decision i woke up to and say hey i need to start numeric text to articles lol ,i guess my english lectures motivated me to do that , there is a say in literature that if you are writing a sentence make sure all your numbers are in words or text ,so i sort of wanted to use that concept because i thought it was the right thing to do at that moment.True creating a good article is not that easy ,but i believe i have done justice to my first article now because i have corrected errors ,it now just need a reviewer to check it out and because there are many pending articles i suppose i will have to be patient.Are you a reviewer yourself? Requesting an additional opinion

Hello Timtempleton! I'm reaching out to you because you commented on the talk page of Draft:Diego Tryno. Now, over the past few weeks, I have been working with the primary editor of the article over on my user talk page (here: User talk:Utopes#Requesting for reconsideration) about whether the subject meets the notability criteria. We decided that the article just passes criterion 1, as we established that the subject was covered by two reliable, independent sources. It'd probably be best to go through the conversation that we had. To summarize, I felt that the sources weren't reliable at the start, as they read rather gossip-y and didn't seem to be a reliable source of information. It was brought to my attention that this is standard for Zimbabwean media, and that the sources were widely respected. I plan on approving of the article, but I wanted to let you know, so that you can check and see if I'm in the wrong at all for doing so. Regardless, cheers! @Utopes: I took another look and did a little more clean up. I agree that the sourcing seems a bit week, and it's hard to tell if the poor English is the norm or perhaps a bad translation. If this was an afd, at this point I'd just barely veer from weak delete to weak keep territory. The Bulawayo 24 source [[1]] says his new album was supposed to drop yesterday, but I haven't seen any mention of it. If there is eventually more coverage, that could bolster the notability argument. Guild of Copy Editors December 2019 Newsletter Hello and welcome to the December 2019 GOCE newsletter, an update of Guild happenings since the September edition. Our Annual Report should be ready in late January. Election time: Nominations for the election of a new tranche of Guild coordinators to serve for the first half of 2020 will be open from 1 to 15 December. Voting will then take place and the election will close on 31 December at 23:59 UTC. Positions for Guild coordinators, who perform the important behind-the-scenes tasks that keep our project running smoothly, are open to all Wikipedians in good standing. We welcome self-nominations so please consider nominating yourself if you've ever thought about helping out; it's your Guild and it doesn't run itself! September Drive: Of the thirty-two editors who signed up, twenty-three editors copy edited at least one article; they completed 39 requests and removed 138 articles from the backlog, bringing the backlog to a low of 519 articles. October Blitz: This event ran from 13 to 19 October, with themes of science, technology and transport articles tagged for copy edit, and Requests. Sixteen editors helped remove 29 articles from the backlog and completed 23 requests. November Drive: Of the twenty-eight editors who signed up for this event, twenty editors completed at least one copy edit; they completed 29 requests and removed 133 articles from the backlog. Our December Blitz will run from 15 to 21 December. Sign up now! Progress report: From September to November 2019, GOCE copy editors processed 154 requests. Over the same period, the backlog of articles tagged for copy editing was reduced by 41% to an all-time low of 479 articles. Request archiving: The archiving of completed requests has now been automated. Thanks to Zhuyifei1999 and Bobbychan193, YiFeiBot is now archiving the Requests page. Archiving occurs around 24 hours after a user's signature and one of the templates {{Done}}, {{Withdrawn}} or {{Declined}} are placed below the request. The bot uses the Guild's standard "purpose codes" to determine the way it should archive each request so it's important to use the correct codes and templates.
