Copyright[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions to the Michael Dorf (entrepreneur) article, but for legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text—which means allowing other people to modify it—then you must include on the external site the statement: "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later, and under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribute Share-Alike".

You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question at the Help Desk. You can also leave a message on my talk page. CrowCaw 20:45, 13 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

June 2017[edit]

Copyright problem icon Your addition to Michael Dorf (entrepreneur) has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Wikipedia. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material, including text or images from print publications or from other websites, without an appropriate and verifiable license. All such contributions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of content, such as sentences or images—you must write using your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. CrowCaw 21:25, 13 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I added the phrase to the bottom of the website, Michaeldorf.com. So all the information on the cite is owned by me and so I added it to the wikipedia page. Please stop delteing additions.

  • Thanks, that's all that was needed! Do note, though, that even that copyright is not a concern, that text is not written in the encyclopedic tone we expect, so may very well be heavily edited or removed by others. Thanks for the release and I'll make the appropriate annotation to the page. CrowCaw 21:35, 13 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I will edit it accordingly to make it more encyclopedic, sorry about that.

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, ZacharyDorf. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Michael Dorf (entrepreneur), you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. Jumpytoo Talk 20:15, 15 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Dorf060512.jpg[edit]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Dorf060512.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.

If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.

Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 21:43, 19 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

July 2017[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Whpq. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to Michael Dorf (entrepreneur) seemed less than neutral and has been removed. If you think this was a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 20:31, 20 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
