Request for a citation[edit]

Dear WikiProject Yoruba - I've been cleaning up the section on Yoruba theatre in the history of theatre article. The section had remained in a vandalised state for a while. It's looking much better now, but there's one small point that remains to be taken care of. There is a quotation from Wole Soyinka for which I can't find the exact source. Here is the sentence from the article: In his essay "The Fourth Stage" (1973), Soyinka argues that "no matter how strongly African authors call for an indigenous tragic art form, they smuggle into their dramas, through the back door of formalistic and ideological predilections, typically conventional Western notions and practices of rendering historical events into tragedy." The book in which his essay appears (The Morality of Art) is previewable on Google Books, but when I search for this quotation, nothing is found. Reading through the pages that are available on the preview yields nothing either. I don't have access to the physical book. If someone has the book, or has access to it, could you please add the page number on which the quotation appears to the article? It might also be worthwhile exporting the section, or a summary of it, to Yoruba literature. Many thanks,  • DP •  {huh?} 13:00, 22 April 2011 (UTC)

Hi, Otele! By talk page, do you mean this talk page (Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Yoruba on the English Wikipedia)?

If so, there is the list of articles needing versions in Yoruba:

Thank you WhisperToMe (talk) 02:30, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

Yes,Whisper! i meant here, Wiki Yoruba is quite different to WikiProject Yoruba as the former is the platform of Wikipedia in the Yoruba Language while the later is a project created to organise all relative contents on the English Wikipedia.
I cant promise anything but will get in contact with the Administrators and Contributers on the Yoruba Wikipedia with the list of articles you have suggested.
Frankly, the names would probably become alien to the english language thereafter e.g yo:Suya; yo:Air Nigeria should probably read something like : Suya; Ilé-iṣẹ́ Ojúòfurufú Orílẹ̀-èdè Nàìjíríà respectively e.t.c

Thank you for your help!
I posted at the Yoruba project of the English Wikipedia since I figured that some people here may also be familiar with the Yoruba Wikipedia

User:Dr. Blofeld has created Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/Contests. The idea is to run a series of contests/editathons focusing on each region of Africa. He has spoken to Wikimedia about it and $1000-1500 is possible for prize money. Would anybody here be interested in contributing to one or assisting draw up core article/missing article lists? He says he's thinking of North Africa for an inaugural one in October. If interested please sign up in the participants section of the Contest page, thanks.♦ --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 20:03, 20 July 2016 (UTC)

Comment on the WikiProject X proposal[edit]

Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! (Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej (talk) 22:47, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

WikiProject X is live![edit]

WikiProject X icon.svg

Hello everyone!

You may have received a message from me earlier asking you to comment on my WikiProject X proposal. The good news is that WikiProject X is now live! In our first phase, we are focusing on research. At this time, we are looking for people to share their experiences with WikiProjects: good, bad, or neutral. We are also looking for WikiProjects that may be interested in trying out new tools and layouts that will make participating easier and projects easier to maintain. If you or your WikiProject are interested, check us out! Note that this is an opt-in program; no WikiProject will be required to change anything against its wishes. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

Note: To receive additional notifications about WikiProject X on this talk page, please add this page to Wikipedia:WikiProject X/Newsletter. Otherwise, this will be the last notification sent about WikiProject X.

Proposed merger[edit]

FYI, I proposed merging Iru (food) into Sumbala based on the idea that these two, along with dawadawa, netetu, ojji, etc. are much the same (even though there are slight variations across West Africa). Since there is no English name for this product, the question is which loanword to use. "Sumbala" seems relatively common. If of interest, please see merge discussion. --A12n (talk) 11:06, 15 May 2016 (UTC)
