The Tarkhan is a kin-based group commonly found in the Punjab regions of India and Pakistan. They are traditionally carpenters by occupation and by their caste.In Punjab , the term is usually refers to the Ramgharia Community . Ramgarhia is associated mainly with the Tarkhan tribe because of its later famous Misldhar, Jassa Singh Ramgarhia, who was a Tarkhan.
The Tarkhan is categorized as the Vishwakarma caste.[1]
