Article subtitles and other points

Welcome back. Hopefully we can work better together.

This [1] guideline mentions the subtitles that should usually be used and the order they should be used in. This is to give consistency to medical related articles. Thus causes should be used instead of etiology.

Image sizing

It is recommended that we usually leave image sizes at default. This is because registered users are able to set what size they wish default images to be displayed at (under My preferences -> Appearance ). Hello. You recently added a citation to a book from the "Webster's Quotations, Facts and Phrases" series published by Icon Group International to this article. Unfortunately, Icon Group International is not a reliable source - their books are computer-generated, with most of the text copied from Wikipedia (most entries have [WP] by them to indicate this, see e.g. [5]). I've only removed the reference, not the text it was referencing. I'm removing a lot of similar references as they are circular references; many other editors have also been duped by these sources. Despite giving an appearance of reliability, the name "Webster's" has been public domain since the late 19th century. Another publisher to be wary of as they reuse Wikipedia articles is Alphascript Publishing.

Black tables in New York City

Hi, Mike, I'm not sure what caused your tables to turn black; as the original creator of those tables, it certainly wasn't my intention! I was trying to shorten code in this over-long article, but I guess your browser or system won't properly render things like "bgcolor=afa|" . And if yours don't, then of course some other Wikipedia readers will see the same thing.

In the five-borough table, I was trying to match colors with those in the map, which are incompatible with those of the template that User:Mynameinc created from my original table, which in turn followed the convention I started (for other considerations) in New York City mayoral elections. Were the background colors too dark to show the borough names (in which case they could be lightened)? Or was everything black? While it was a pain (and added 2.5 - 3 MB kB I didn't want to add) to recreate the pre-template table with 2009 numbers, at least a white background won't positively confuse readers, so it's probably worth the effort. It's not easy, baby, when your whole world is black. I found a map which uses names rather than colors for the boroughs, and thus simplifies a number of things for the reader and editor, as well as allowing me to use the regular NYC boroughs template, which in turn reduces the article's size by about 3 kB. Just so I can see for myself when I'm unintentionally creating black boxes, what browser and system are you using? I usually use Google Chrome on my Windows Vista (Compaq) desktop computer, but I also have Internet Explorer 8, Mozilla Firefox 3.6, and the last version of the obsolete Netscape Navigator 9. Copy And Paste Moves

When you want to rename a page, do not copy-and-paste the content -- move the page instead (or if yuo cannot move the page because the target already exists, use WP:RM). This keeps the edit history with the article.

I have fixed Police brutality in the United States and changed it to a proper move. In the case of List of cases of police brutality in the United States, that's the standard naming convention of lists so there seems no reason to rename it. However, if you wish to have it renamed, you can ask for that to be done via WP:RM.

If I didn't redirect the page properly you can fix it without being pompous. Copy-and-paste moves are not allowed as they loose the attribution history which is required by our copyright licensing. When you copy-and-pasted the text, you made it seem like you had written all that text and you did not. Wikipedia takes its copyright responsibilities seriously.

With respect to Police brutality in the United States, it looks like I missed a step when fixing that. I forget to restore the edits I had to delete in order to move the page. I have restored those edits. I believe I pulled your last version, but if I didn't, they are all available in the edit history and you can select the right version.

With respect to List of cases of police brutality in the United States, I have gone back and consolidated the edit histories. Your changes should now be reflected. If not, like the other one, they are all available in the edit history and you can select the right version. As for the naming conventions, you can look around the site or check the manual of style. I don't really care what it is named, but it probably should have some community involvement on the name change which is why WP:RM would be appropriate. The Copy-and-paste move was because I'm a dumb ass and don't know how to do it properly. As far as community involvement on the name change, it seemed that nobody really gave a crap about the subject because the same lame verbose information was repeated in two articles. If somebody wanted to read about police brutality in the United States they wouldn't type in List of police brutality cases in the United States more than likely it would be Police brutality United States or Police brutality United States. I personally think brevity in a title works best.

Thanks, I tend to overreact so I apologize. I would like to change the name of List of cases of police brutality in the United States back to Police brutality cases (United States), I think it's more succinct and to the point, if you look on the talk page on that article there is only one comment about a different matter. So there doesn't seem to be too much interest at this point. It's an important topic and I think the name change would be beneficial. As far as naming conventions they're not set in stone.

Depression (differential diagnoses): I wrote that because...nobody else did. The mental health field is for the most part a self-serving industry and most of the people in it don't know their asses from their elbows, they for the most part pull diagnoses out of their asses and as a consequence people suffer.

Hippocampal formation: Do you think it warrants a stand alone article? I'm not an expert but considering that some of those who are include other structures adjacent to the hippocamus I would say yes.

I've been thinking about the person who searches for "depression" on Wikipedia. I'm concerned about the percentage who suffer from it or have a loved one who does. I'd like them to find the best information as easily as possible. So I did this to the disambiguation page and this to Depression (mood), so it just describes the emotional/physical state thoroughly and briefly, and directs them to the 4 articles that might help. It looks fine to me, although the article on Depression (mood) could probably be expanded a bit. It is a pure fact that most people diagnosed with psychiatric conditions have little or no medical work-up, not even the common sense procedure of taking a medical history is done. It's incredulous that an alleged college educated mental health expert can make a diagnosis of anything without the benefit of medical testing, not even a basic physical.

The fact that at least 15-20% of the human population have pituitary tumors, and 30% are seropositive for Toxoplasma gondii, which is known to alter human behavior is amazing. I put it in Depression (differential diagnoses) and Anorexia nervosa it's not my say-so it's from experts like Richard Hall M.D., a thorough work up should be done for any disorder, nobody has a crystal ball, the excuse about monetary cost isn't a valid argument either especially for younger people. Misdiagnoses and missed diagnoses cost far more in lost productivity and lost lives.

It's incredibly asinine and irresponsible for someone to have someone sit in "therapy" talking about the puppy they wanted when they were 5 and how their mommy didn't love them when they actually have a brain tumor or and endocrine disorder.

As far as Depression (mood) you're probably right sometimes less is more, the philosophical nonsense like, according to Joe Blow depression may be environmentally adaptive is uninformative and useless. Maybe a redirect from Depression (mood) to Depression (differential diagnoses) and add some of the general aspects of depression to the lead with links to major depressive disorder and dysthimia. If you merge Depression (differential diagnoses)]] to Depression (mood)]] it's basically tacking a full article onto a title. Page titles

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give Dutch Colonial architecture (New Amsterdam) a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Dutch Colonial architecture (New Netherland). This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. So in this instance there was no history. I thought putting #REDIRECT Dutch Colonial architecture (New Netherland) was the way to do it. Guess I was wrong.
