Glad you're here

I just wanted to echo the welcome of others. Librarians are some of our fiercest allies and it's really exciting to have you on board. Let me know if you have any questions. I'd also love to hear your feedback on a project called The Wikipedia Library, a way for Wikipedia editors to access paywalled sources for free. Welcome to Wikipedia! Ocaasi t | c 16:19, 4 March 2013 (UTC)

Hi, Ocaasi. Thanks so much for the warm welcome - I really appreciate it! The Wikipedia Library sounds like an interesting project! I know how frustrating it can be for researchers unaffiliated with a university and without access at their local library to try and access content behind pay walls. I like the idea of giving dedicated editors a 1-year account. Like you write on the project page - getting access to these resources can only help improve the quality of Wikipedia articles and citations. I look forward to seeing the project develop! rchopman 19:15, 4 March 2013 (UTC)
You also might be very interested in a few projects we have. One is called WikiProject Resource exchange, where editors provide sources for eachother. It's at WP:RX. Another project is our GLAM initiative. This is an organized effort for Wikipedians to partner with Galleries, Libraries, Archives, and Museums to imrove our coverage of their content, add their collections to Wikipedia when the licenses match, and otherwise advance our common missions. You can read more about it at Wikipedia:GLAM and http://outreach.wikimedia.org/wiki/GLAM. Cheers! Ocaasi t | c 19:48, 4 March 2013 (UTC)
WikiProject Resource looks like a great way to help each other out! I'll definitely have to spend some more time poking around there. I do know a little about the GLAM initiative - we have a few local groups that I haven't had a chance to meet up with yet. I hope to get involved with them soon. I'm glad to know there are so many communities and projects I can get involved in here on Wikipedia! rchopman 13:19, 5 March 2013 (UTC)

Another WP:TWL opporunity

Hey Rchopman, I saw your social media presence, and thought that you might be interested in the new resource page I created for library interns. We are looking to create a group of interns across the U.S. that can use the resource to follow up on all the best practices. Do you all at the Glass museum have an intern program that this would support well?

Also, FYI, if you are going to be signing with User:Rchopman make sure to create the account in that name, so that no one can impersonate you. The best way to do this would be to create a Wikipedia:Doppleganger_account and label it as such. Cheers, Sadads (talk) 16:24, 14 July 2014 (UTC)

Hey Sadads, thanks for the info. We do have a library intern program. Right now their responsibilities don't include any wiki activity, but I'm hoping to change that. If so, I will definitely add our internship to the list, and have future interns join the intern class page. Thanks to you all at The Wikipedia Library for continuing to develop these resources and programs!
About Rchopman - I actually changed my username a month or two ago to Extabulis. Should I go back and change my signature on past notes? Or would a Wikipedia:Doppleganger_account be my best bet? I don't intend to use User:Rchopman as a signature anymore (but I also don't want anyone impersonating me). Thanks! extabulis (talk) 16:00, 15 July 2014 (UTC)
Great to have you on board for the interns! If you could get one or two on the class page for the fall that would be great! We are trying to create a class of interns to test the resource (my goal, eventually, is to have a fairly large and dynamic group that can do activities together at some point). A group of 10, maybe even 15, across the U.S. would be awesome.
Also, I saw that you worked at Maryland at one point. Do you have any connections there or other libraries/archives that might be interested in the internship idea? If so, it would be great if you emailed me.
I would just create the account. You don't have to change the old signatures, the redirect on it should do a fine job sending people from the links to your user page. But you need to make sure that no one else tries to squat on that name :P Cheers! Sadads (talk) 16:11, 15 July 2014 (UTC)
I will definitely do so if we have interns in the fall (not a guarantee - we accept interns throughout the year, so it depends on when they apply and are able to work). I'll email you about UMD. Thanks! extabulis (talk) 17:48, 15 July 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Edward M. Yerger

Hello Extabulis,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Edward M. Yerger for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Asdklf; (talk) 22:04, 18 August 2014 (UTC)

Ways to improve List of works by Dale Chihuly

Hi, I'm Libby norman. Extabulis, thanks for creating List of works by Dale Chihuly!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Hi, thanks for this article. Could you take another look at the references – there are a lot of dead links at present.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse. Libby norman (talk) 11:30, 23 October 2014 (UTC)

Hi Libby norman. Thanks for your message! There are indeed a ton of dead links - both in the Dale Chihuly article and List of works by Dale Chihuly, which I split off from the former. Fixing the refs on both pages is my first priority. extabulis (talk) 13:23, 23 October 2014 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Disambiguation link notification for December 18

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Steuben Glass Works, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page James Carpenter. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
