Stubs

You are welcome to mark such articles as stubs. However, the entire content of those articles was an external link. This adds nothing, in my opinion, to this encyclopedia, and only encourages the use of Wikipedia as a link farm. Those were probably schools which deserve an article, however I prefer stubs which are actually stubs, meaning that they say something substantial about the subject in at least three sentences. Karla Finnegan

Hi, and sorry but no to the undeletion. If I'm reading the article correctly, it seems to be about an entirely non-notable person and was rightly tagged for deletion. TV credits are non-notable, romance nn, achievements nn, news coverage nn and the rest is waffle and an email address. Far outwith the parameters of WP:BIO which lists the general standards expected of living persons biographies on the English Wikipedia. If there are some truly notable aspects about her that were not originally mentioned, the best thing to be would start from scratch.

Fair warning that recreating the article in its current state would likely lead to a listing on WP:AFD, where the chances are you'd not only have to deal with the article being redeleted, you'd have a fair number of comments highlighting the individuals notability (or lack thereof) to read as well. AFD can be a harsh place and I really wouldn't recommend it. Seems from your contributions that you're finding a number of notable articles to work on, I'd love to see you leave Karla until she meets :BIO and concentrate on other areas for now. Happy editing, Deizio talk 23:51, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

After re-reading your post on my talk, and thinking about the geographical situation here, it appears that you're not asserting she is notable or interested in recreating the article, 2 more reasons to move on. Nice one, Deizio talk 23:58, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

Susan Jill Warchaizer

The article about Warchaizer, Susan Jill (M.D.) and then subsequently copied by you to Susan Jill Warchaizer is a definite delete. IMO, the article and this person does not meet any item in the general WP:N, WP:BIO, or WP:VAIN guidelines. Please add references soon. --Shuki 19:30, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

Hi, thank you for your response to my questioning the notability of this subject. My main issue is that I'm a bit dubious about the notability of FAST - Fighting Antisemitism Together, so including someone's biography in Wikipedia solely on the basis of having been one of the founders is even more awkward to me. F. Anthony Comper, on the other hand, has a certain notability outside being a founder of that organisation. - Motor (talk) 07:12, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

Hola, you suggested adding this deleted article's text to the Spanish wikipedia article on Viana but it has also been deleted. [1].--Dakota ~ 04:36, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

This article was created 22:50, 14 February 2006 and was deleted 18:44, 26 March 2006. The person who placed the speedy read it as I did. It is a first person account about the interview of the brother Hermano Vázquez Viaña of the article subject Humberto Vázquez Viaña. It has been deleted quite awhile and it fails notability guidelines. If you insist I will restore send it to translation and then it will go up on afd if it remains untranslated for two weeks. If it isn't improved it will still go on afd. What do you wish done I can gice you the text of it if you wish to take it the Spanish wikipedia.--Dakota ~ 05:13, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

Hello from Louisiana and thanks for suggesting I contribute articles about Cajun musicians in French. My French is pretty rusty, but I do have some pre-existing biographical sketches of Cajun musicians that I wrote for an academic source, if you wish to translate them into French. I can send you scanned images of these short, one-page sketches, if you wish. Let me know. . . .

FAST article

FAST gets less than 800 hits on Google, and that does satisfy non-notability. Sorry. SushiGeek 08:37, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

Google hits are not the be all and end all of notability (but when they are low, it's usually a sign the article isn't notable). If you have other evidence of notability (such as reporting in reputable mainstream news media), use that. In any case Articles for deletion is not the right place to put this. Try Wikipedia:Deletion review. On the other hand you can recreate the article, but please make sure that it is notable and make it clear (if you just recreate it, it should be significantly different from the original i.e. more references, more claims to notability, etc). CaptainJ (t | c | e) 11:26, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
  • I see you added the template to the talk page for FAST - Fighting Antisemitism Together to show it survived AfD. I see you're also the editor who created the article. I'm happy to see that the article was kept (especially compared to some of the other things that survive AfD), but I think this article needs some serious work so as to satisfy the concerns of those who don't think it's all that notable. You may have noticed that the closing administrator originally deleted it, but had second thoughts[2][3]. It might be helpful if you can use what you know to improve this article so that it doesn't have to go through the AfD process again. I've got this article on my list of things I'd like to get to, but I suspect you might know more about this topic than I do. Agent 86 01:52, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

Hi Truthbringer.

Regarding the James Stanton Mooney article, it really does need to be deleted. It is not notable, and contains unverifible information.

Actually, I wrote it as a joke for the benefit of my friends: I didn't know that I couldn't delete it once the joke was said. I know, I know, this is very very very bad Wikipedia practice.

Guild for Exceptional Children

Hi - I don't doubt that the Guild for Exceptional Children is notable (I would have prod'd or AfD'd it if I thought it was non-notable). My issue was really just 2 things; the original opening paragraph, which quoted it's claim of being a "leading provider of...", and the listing of services. I have since taken "leading" out of the quote, so I think that's OK now. However I feel that the list of services is a bit over the top. I think it should be pared down a bit - most of the headlines should be removed, and the services perhaps summarized in shorter more general clips - perhaps just a short bulleted list. I'm thinking it could be made to look similar to the United Way article?

I think that's about all the work it needs right now; I think that otherwise you wrote the article quite well --AbsolutDan (talk) 11:00, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

Re: John-Hedley Desmond Lucy McConnell

First off, speedy deletion does not require consensus. If an article meets a speedy deletion criterion (and this one met two, A7 and G4) then speedy deletion can and should be performed whether the article has all "Keep" votes or all "Speedy delete" votes. While perhaps the Canary Islands are underrepresented on the English Wikipedia, the article was nonetheless about a tour guide who feel from a cliff and died. People die every day, and each person who has died should not be included on Wikipedia (Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information). Similarly, being a tour guide does not make him notable, nor does running a minor company that ran (runs?) tours in the Canary Islands. I welcome you to bring up the matter at deletion review, but it will not succeed. —Cuiviénen 19:08, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

Penn State alumni

OK, I took care of it. Category:Pennsylvania State University alumni now redirects to Category:Penn State University alumni. However, we should probably just rename the category, since most people don't say Penn State University (it's either just "Penn State" or "Pennsylvania State University"). --Spangineer[es] (háblame) 12:33, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

No Sprites For You page

Hi, you told Staxringold that he should've made the article I created, No Sprites For You, a stub or placed an expand tag on the page and you asked him to recreate the page. He never did, so could I create it? This probably sounds like a stupid question, but I'm just making sure so I don't get banned. GhostBoy66 17:12, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for suggestions

Thanks for dropping a note on my Talkpage. Since the only article I've ever put a prod tag on is Tony Grove I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that you were referencing that article. I ran a Google search on the author but got no relevant hits except for our own brief mention of him on WP. While I strongly favor improving articles rather than deleting them, I just couldn't see how in this case. I asked an Admin for advice and since the subject appears non-notable and it seemed unlikely that I could add any more info, I went ahead with the prod. If I've missed a possibility or you think I can do more, please let me know. I'm eager to improve Wikipedia, and I know that the best way to do that is to improve my own skills. Any advice or comments you have will be greatly appreciated :) --Doc Tropics 18:34, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

I got your reply and wanted to thank you for putting that much effort into it. I'm glad that you concur about the prod. Since I'm still new here I'm always happy to get input from more experienced users. Thanks again and happy editing :) --Doc Tropics 19:19, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

Hi TruthbringerToronto. I looked at the article and still don't think they're notable. Have a look at the criteria at Wikipedia:Notability (music) if you'd like to make a case for them. Let me know if you'd like the article's previous content. --Fang Aili talk 19:03, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

re: Minor league players

I apologize if it seemed like I was stepping on your toes. The user who created these articles has now been banned twice as per Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#User: AFD Waiting to Happen and I was in haste to get his articles {{db}}ed when I overwrote yours. As you can see by my (recent) contributions, I have made sure to tag all articles that others haven't because of comments at both Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kinston Indians and the above discussion at the Administrators' noticeboard. If you have any questions about my actions, feel free to ask. Again, sorry for my haste. Cheers! -- MOE.RON talk | done | doing 00:23, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

Thank you fo the heads up about the article, I did minor edits on the article to fix spelling errors etc. I feel it is notable enough to keep and hope to add more to help it stay, but for right now I feel I have to go to bed as it is almost 2 AM here. Any more questions can be sent to my talk page. --WillMak050389 05:47, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

Raquel Evita Saraswati

You removed the speedy deletion tag on this page. I have decided to send the article to AFD because that prevents endless reverting of the page. But you are not a wikipedia admin, so you should not be deleting speedy tags. In the future, please utilise the {{hangon}} process if you feel a page does not deserve deletion. It is up to an administrator to decide if a speedy deletion tag is unwarranted. Thank you. --NMChico24 08:21, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

I have to concur with NMChico24 here. I've had a couple of speedy tags removed from you in the last day or so and I just assumed it was an admin decision, but now I see it's not. Can you explain why you think that changing something from {{db-bio}} to something like {{subst:prod|nn-model}} is necessary? How is nn-model different than "non-notable biography / vanity about a person or persons that does not assert the notability of the subject" which db-bio is? Metros232 14:13, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

Spam bully

G'day TruthbringerToronto,

thanks for your note. Any editor is more than welcome to create good articles on Wikipedia :-). In the case of Spam Bully, it was speediable because it was crap, not because Mark Has Declared We Cannot Have An Article On That Subject. As such, there's nothing wrong with writing a decent treatment of the subject (as you're attempting now), and I applaud the effort. Happy editing, fuddlemark (befuddle me!) 09:24, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

Hello, may I ask why do a hangon on this article? It is a copy vio which I instantly recognized knowing a bit about him though it be from another. Just asking. Can we cleanup and keep copyvio's?--John Lake 18:56, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

I agree that Professor Naghdi was very notable. It is my understanding of copyvio that the copyvio section has to go and cannot remain in history. Would it not be best to completely rewrite the article not leaving the copyvio section in history which would make you the orginal author. I could be wrong.--John Lake 19:07, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

Userfying biographies

When you userfy a biography like you did with User:Brutalforcekhamelion and User:Biggiea, please move the page rather than simply copying and pasting the article. Moving it preserves the history of the article which is necessary under the GFDL. By copying and pasting it, it loses the history and list of contributors--on their pages it appears as if you're the only contributor to that biography.

Also, when doing this, make sure there's a reasonable belief that the user is the subject of the biography. For example, why did you move Frank Garvey to User:Erin steel? I was the one that tagged that for speedy deletion and I don't remember anything in particular that suggested Erin steel is Frank Garvey. Metros232 01:07, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

Yes, this makes sense, except that sometimes it's not obvious that a potential speedy deletion will in fact be deleted, and moving rather than copying might cause more confusing.
I think that User:Erin steel created Frank Garvey, and where the names don't match I am careful to say "copying (or moving) biography page to userpage" rather than using the term "autobiography". If I got mixed up and User:Erin steel was not the creator of Frank Garvey, then that userpage should probably be deleted or be edited down to the userpage tag to avoid confusing the user. TruthbringerToronto (Talk | contribs) 01:22, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
Okay, if an article is going to stay in the project space it doesn't need to exist in the user space like that. If it does wind up getting deleted, then the user who the article was about could request to have it restored and put into their user page.
The same goes for the article about Frank Garvey. If User:Erin steel wanted the page restored, s/he could have requested it. It's really odd to move an article like that if the article isn't about the user. Users always have the option of WP:Deletion Review or they could talk to an administrator about it. You don't need to copy and paste articles that are bound for deletion in order to preserve them. The closing administrator on the speedy deletion will make the decision if it should be userfied or not. (And they generally do a good job with that, I've notice a few cases of ones I tagged that were userfied in cases I didn't realize were vanity). Metros232 01:39, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

I'm glad that you are willing to save the article. When I had seen it, all it said was:

dHCCI means:

That's not really enough for an article. The whole article was just a red-link, without actually explaining anything. Hopefully you can expand it enough to save it. Good luck and happy editing! Amalas =^_^= 18:29, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

Adaptive Path

I do not know if it meets CORP. I interpret CORP more strictly than you do, for sure, so don't mind me and do your thing. You may freely recreate the article because there has been no AfD and therefore no consensus that this is NN. Last deletion was in 2005, and in any event, just put on the talk page that the new version has nothing to do with the old ones. I suggest you round up some 'independent sources' before you create. As a general rule, there are a lot of missing articles on WP, whose importance is unquestioned. Capisce? ;) - CrazyRussian talk/email 03:07, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

AeroPress

The author, or yourself, is more than welcome to recreate the article, add something more somewhat more substantial than "cool coffee machine," and run with that. I won't delete it reflexively again, but as it stood, it was not even stubworthy. The links I checked that came out of the Aerobie article about Alan Adler made no referene to the AeroPress, which also added to my decision. I don't think an undeletion is called for, but recreation with valid content is certainly an option. Hope that helps. -- Avi 12:05, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

Some new evidence has surfaced at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Puget Custom Computers. You might want to take a look at it. Because I knew the article Matteo Rosselli which was written by Kpirouz was likely to be deleted, I copied the text from the article to the page User:Kpirouz so that the user would have access to the text. I do not think that this text should be deleted by anyone other than Kpirouz. TruthbringerToronto (Talk | contribs) 06:53, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

Some notes:
1) User pages are not a Wikipedia form of MySpace.
2) Cutting-and-pasting violates the GFDL.
3) If you "knew the article Matteo Rosselli which was written by Kpirouz was likely to be deleted", then you're well aware that you're attempting an end-run around speedy-deletion criteria and basic bio standards -- and so is anyone else seeing what you're doing. --Calton | Talk 07:04, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
  • There's also a longstanding policy that Wikipedia is not a free webhost. Allowing vanity articles to remain in the userspace when the user in question has no other contributions makes it look like self-promotion is acceptable in the userspace when it's not. Instead of userfying you could also simply post a friendly message to the user who created the article. Result, we've got rid of the article and the user doesn't feel bitten as much. - Mgm|(talk) 07:45, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
  • Oh and if you move something, please use the "move button" at the top of the page , so the edit history of the article stays intact. If you don't have this button yet, just wait a few days until you can, or go to Wikipedia:Requested moves. - Mgm|(talk) 07:51, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

  • 1) Userfying pages that do not meet Wikipedia criteria for encyclopedia articles is a long-established option No, userfying pages that are mistaken attempts at making user pages are a long-established practice. Userfying pages as an end-run around article criteria? Not so much.
  • 2) In general, I wish that people would not delete articles for speedy-deletion quite so quickly so that the writer gets a chance to post a hangon message. And I wish for a pony, but I'm likely to get that, either. In any case, it's not your problem -- but if you want it to be your problem, take some responsibility and put in the hangon message yourself, like you're actually supposed to. And, more to the point, moving by cutting-and-pasting violates the GFDL.
  • 3) Could I ask, though, that if you see an autobiographical article that doesn't belong in the encyclopedia, that you consider moving it to the author's user page rather than speedy-deleting it outright? No. This isn't MySpace. If it's an obvious mistake, sure, but the ones you've been pulling this stunt with aren't even close. --Calton | Talk 07:53, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

Railways

I fixed the railway signalling entry, which was obviously written by a Brit and had nothing about North American ABS and CTC systems and very little about train order systems (which were just on the way out at CP when I started). Maybe we can get a shot of the all-Canada CTC system set up in Calgary just before I left. When I get time, I'll write about the difference between CTC in double-track and multi-track systems (i.e. in the transcontinental vs. the Corridor in Canada).

I had already fixed the entry on CP some months ago but it still needs serious work. I did some fixes on the history this weekend. Right now, my major problems with it lie in the repetition of quite a bit of material, especially about passenger trains, though the entry. How technical should this be? Should there be material re: the switch from steam to diesel? Modern innovations like CTC traffic control, the switch to continuous welded rail? You can start the article again yourself. It is not protected. Previous content was:

Robert Neuman is a professor of art history at Florida State University. {{academic-bio-stub}} {{art-stub}} {{US-historian-stub}} {{Florida-bio-stub}}

I don't think one book on its own will be enough to justify the article, unless it is a particularly significant work.

Alaska libraries

Excellent suggestion on the Anchor Point Public Library et al. I will keep my eye out for foreign/Native language materials collections. I'm going to have to call a couple of the smaller libraries, though, as many of them don't have websites or otherwise readily available info on their contents. Deirdre 19:11, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Ellen Perry Berkeley

The criteria I see in WP:BIO says:

Published authors, editors and photographers who received multiple independent reviews of or awards for their work

So while it probably doesn't qualify for a speedy anymore... All I can see in the article is that she's an author. Valrith 23:43, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Please do not take deletion tags off of page if an editor thinks that the article needs to be deleted. Bearly541 23:25, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
You're thinking of the AfD process, where the AfD notice should not be removed before the end of the AfD discussion. Proposed deletions are different, and I was behaving properly when I removed the proposed deletion notice. Here are the instructions relating to proposed deletions, as they appear at the top of Category:Proposed deletion as of 9 August 2006.
Anyone can remove the prod template at any time if they disagree with the deletion to stop the process. Only uncontroversial articles may be deleted using proposed deletion. Do not re-list an article if someone have removed the prod template, instead list it on WP:AFD and seek a consensus to delete it.
I hope this explains the difference. Could you please revert the article to my version, and make whatever improvements to that version which you think would be appropriate? TruthbringerToronto (Talk | contribs) 23:33, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
Sure, but please be sure to expand.Bearly541 00:37, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

userfication

Looks like Calton is watching you as well. By all means carry on userfying but please use move not copy and paste. Eg. move Elaine Hoekstra to User:Biggiea. This provides the vital audit trail of what article it was created at and by whom. (In the case of this example I had to hunt around to find where the article had originated, if you had used "move", all would have been clear.)

The move will create a redirect at Elaine Hoekstra which needs to be deleted - use {{db|now userfied}} or simply {{db-author}} - the redirect has your name on it, so the db-author rules apply without question!

Another reason for using "move" is that the article remains in the original author's contributions record, so that in theory they can find where it has gone. But not all newbies know about "my contributions" so it is a courtesy to leave a note on user talk:Biggiea. (I created {{userfied}} and {{userfied a}} for this purpose.) -- RHaworth 09:10, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

Salisbury Mall

Even if this was only a stub, it needs to show some notability. The article did not and did not seem likely to. You can recreate the article when you think you have a enough material to show that it is notable. Be aware that most malls will be deleted in AfD since they are not notable. I may be wrong, but can't an entry be tagged for both speedy deletion and proposed deletion? In the case of Blackstar Records, it's a clear vanity entry created by its owner, which I think an admin should delete on sight. Wyatt Riot 09:36, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

I appreciate your removal of the CSD, but could use some guidance on what re-writing you feel is necessary. I used Symantec and Microsoft articles as guides, kept the text factual, and replaced links to the corporate Web site with links to Wikipedia articles, many of which I still need to write.

This is my first Wikipedia article, so any specific guidance you can provide would be appreciated.

OK, you're right on a technicality. But this really lowers the bar. If she's notable enough, then I know at least 100 people personally who are even more notable - they run bigger, older, more established and widespread non-profits, and do so for longer. I don't want to sound disrespectful to you, but if you'd worked in non-profits as long as I have, you'd recognize what small potatoes she is. I even know half a dozen Canadians more notable and with wider impact than she has. Bruxism 23:39, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads up, and I know about the WP:3RR rule, however, the article is a joke. No one by that name plays for the English soccer (football) squad, and England defeated Greece 4-0 on the 16th, making it impossible for the person in question to do what he did. Wildthing61476 14:22, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

Just to make it clear...

I'm not in the GNAA anymore. I left them some months ago and I don't look forward to rejoin the organization in the near future. Since the GNAA was dying for real when I left, I don't think I'll have any opportunity to rejoin even if I wanted to, before they disappear. My recent edits in the "War on Blogs" page are just a little troll at their address and nothing else. I know for sure the that "War on Blogs" will never resume. A certain peruvian psycho may be part of the reason.

In short, my little "War on Biodiesel" is not a troll and I didn't troll on wikipedia in ages anyway, so don't bother stalking me to try to get a clue about what the GNAA may be up to. I'm not with them anymore.

That said I would like to invite you and other wikipedians to crack down more effectively on "free energy" or "near free energy" claims, as such things do not exist. Science says so and people that says otherwise are scammers. Wikipedia is already full of fringe statements injected into many pages by people with a clear political/religious agenda, like the claims that circumcised males can't get HIV and many others alike.

Lately I requested the deletion of some poorly written, short or about a non notable subject pages because they contain the word "biodiesel" and I did that in an effort to reduce spam. In some cases I removed some out of context citations. Check this out and see on how many pages that particular word is still spammed on.

I'm an uneducated bum and I know my english skills are poor, but I hope you understand my reasons.

Hi TruthbringerToronto, I know we keep crossing paths on AFD (I'm starting to think I'm a deletionist) I have to admire your tenactiy as an inclusionist and I have to admit that your stance is many, many times harder than mine to maintain.

I've just noticed you think Patricia Telesco is worth saving, so I would like to ask you to review some of the other biographies Rosencomet has created recently. Rosencomet is a director of the new age Starwood Festival [5] and most of the people she has written about are guest speakers at the festival, so I'm a bit concerned about impartiality in the biographies and being able to verify their notability. More details are Rose's talk page and mine. If you have time, could you please also go through the rest of them and see if you can improve them while I deal with real-life over the next 24 hrs. Thanks,  Netsnipe  (Talk)  21:23, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

the reason i tagged Patricia Telesco as a speedy, was because User:Rosencomet was using it to promote his/her own festival. Look at the history edit of the Association for Consciousness Exploration and User:Rosencomet's contribution and talk page. You'll see that s/he was given a warning yesterday. Thanks :) Project2501a 05:34, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

I GIVE UP!

Despite the support it received, the Orkney Portal has been deleted.

I have tried to contribute articles on topics about which I have knowledge, such as Orkney, but the articles have been subjected to constant destructive editing, and I have been subjected to repeated harassment, mainly by Mais oui!, that I see no point in continuing.

I have now joined the ever-growing category of disillusioned Wikipedians. Mallimak 01:12, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

AfD for Bascon

I appreciate your effort in searching for sources for this article; however, I still do not feel it is notable enough. From all I could derive from the sources, they seem like blog-type entries, which don't pass muster under WP:RS. In addition, the low number of attendees is not promising. Crystallina 02:51, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

I don't know how to respond to your message about this article. I listed it for deletion because it's spam. I don't think an unofficial name for a city is hardly encyclopedic. Besides the article was created solely for promotion of a non-notable organization. They already tried the article Leaders of East Orlando. When that was deleted, this page was created. Thanks! Stubbleboy 06:26, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

  • Please read the Wikipedia policy WP:RS regarding this. Thanks! Stubbleboy 12:35, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

Project Syndicate improved, but notable enough for Wikipedia?

Thanks for your note. Well that is certainly an improvement. Can you tell me how it meets WP:CORP or other criteria?. I'm still not sure it meets inclusion criteria. Cheers,  :) Dlohcierekim 09:52, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

Hi TbT! Not as the article stood, no. As it stood it was CSD-A1, A3 and A7: No context, no content and no assertion of notability.

Articles on Wikipedia must assert notability for their subject. In other words, an article could be about the most famour person in the world, but if it didn't say why, out the door it goes.

This article consisted of the guy's name, his year of birth and the fact he had a brother. A1, 3 and 7 encapsulated.

But by all means create an article about the guy! I haven't salted the earth against it or anything (and G4 doesn't really apply to speedy deletes). Just don't create the one that was there - it wasn't an article.

Thanks! ЯEDVERS 09:57, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

Rewrites

How quickly can you respond to a request for a rewrite? Sometimes people just paste an article in without regard for the copyright infringement. If the creator won't fix it, we have to rewrite it or delete it. If you can fix the copyright problem as you did with Project Syndicate we gain anarticle and lose a problem. Cheers,  :) Dlohcierekim 22:27, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

Regarding the removal of the {{prod}} tag on Intervac, isn't it considered more appropriate to add {{hangon}}?

Gideon Dreyfuss

I don't generally agree that simply being a professor is an assertion of notability, any more than being a waitress makes someone notable. The external links you found do indicate a measure of notability. IMO, his publications need to be references within the WP article... Valrith 20:35, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

    • Being a professor is an assertion of notability, not a proof of it. I recognize that some professors cannot be shown to be notable. My point is that speedying them is almost always unwise. TruthbringerToronto (Talk | contribs) 20:42, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

Checking speedies

Got your note. Will do.

In the meantime, you seem to have a great talent for rescuing articles. Would you take a look at Yves Triantafyllos. It was speedied by User:KRBN. Granted, it seems an A7 candidate on the surface. But, from what little a quick search gave me, I believe he is a notable player.

Thanks. — ERcheck (talk) 22:22, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

  • Checking back... it isn't as straightforward as I thought. If an article has been deleted, it won't show up in the user's contribution list. I'm inquiring on the admin board to see if there is a way to do this other than manually checking every deletion in the log (which isn't really a viable choice). — ERcheck (talk) 22:54, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
    • Yves Triantafyllos is fixed. It's more difficult to pull together an article about a player from the 1970s. There are probably some reference books available that have the details missing from the article. TruthbringerToronto (Talk | contribs) 23:03, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
I've received some guidance and have a tool to look at the edits. I've got some RL things to do, but here is one:
  • George Sideris. Only pertinent info in the entry: "A leading goalscorer for Olympiakos in the '60s."

I'll review more later. — ERcheck (talk) 23:43, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

OK, I've reviewed them all. There are only two deletes — both from the same Olympiakos team. Both articles were reasonable speedy candidates as notability was not clear from the articles, though both subjects might be notable.

  • Alexandros Daras - there is a little more on this one. born 1987, had not yet made an appearance on the first team... If you want to work on this, let me know. I'll undelete at that time — it might get speedied in its last state.
  • George Sideris (above)

James M. Bennett High School

Yes, I agree with you, all high schools are notable, but the way the article was written, and what it said, in my opinion, deserved a Speedy Deletion. If you remove all the, sorry for the expression, crap, you have a line about the administration and the fact that there's no air conditionning. Sorry but if you want to create an article on Wikipedia, you have to do a little more search than that like, for exemple, how much students are there in the school, etc etc... --Deenoe 11:43, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
