== Brennan Reilly is extremely notable. ==

Hello, my name is Paris Hilton and I find Brennan Reilly to be one of the most notable individuals I know. Even more notable than Lindsay Lohan. Well, actually her rack might be more notable than Brennan Reilly, but he's still pretty damn notable. I hope I, Paris Hilton, can be considered a credible 3rd party source.

RFA

No problems. I think you'll make a great admin, sooner rather than later. I only opposed because I think you're still learning and, it seems to me, still tend to judge the importance of articles on your own familiarity with the subject. --Tony Sidaway|Talk 10:22, 3 May 2005 (UTC)

I came here to say the same thing, pretty much. I often find that you've done just what I've have done, it's just the itchiness of your deletion trigger-finger that had me worried. I'd be surprised if you weren't an admin in a month or so, and be as much an asset in that rôle as you are as a non-admin editor. Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 10:37, 3 May 2005 (UTC)
Sorry about the failure of your self-nomination. I think that the self-nomination is inherently more difficult than nomination by another person. Better luck next time; I still have faith in you. Good day. --Merovingian (t) (c) 12:26, May 3, 2005 (UTC)
To quote Mel Etitis, I came here to say the same thing, pretty much. The good thing about failing an RFA is it does give you the opportubnity to assess any perceived weaknesses; use those oppose votes to help you correct any problems. I still think you'll make a good admin at some stage...leave it a couple of months and see whether you feel like testing the waters again. Grutness|hello? 12:43, 3 May 2005 (UTC)
  • Hear, hear. When you do (notice I didn't say "if"), you have my support. - Lucky 6.9 17:46, 3 May 2005 (UTC)
I don't think my late vote would have made any difference anyway, and I'm sorry I didn't pipe in earlier. Anyway, you will have my support the next time you run, provided (of course) that you don't go loopy on us before then. Kelly Martin 20:31, May 3, 2005 (UTC)
  • Eh, I think I supported you - but either way, I'd be happy to support you (again, if I did before... can't you tell I'm lazy?) next time you run, and surely you'd become one of our WikiJanitors(c), unless you started listing featured articles on VfD or something... ahem. :) — ugen64 22:53, 3 May 2005 (UTC)

VFD

Follow up from VFD on Colin Angus Mackay's talk page

Thanks - It looked like the heading in the main VFD page was messed up and there was no way to get to it from the TOC at the top of the page. If it was just a database lag then I'll have to remember that for the future - This was the first time I actually nominated anything for deletion. --Colin Angus Mackay 09:58, 4 May 2005 (UTC)

Management Quantative Analysis

Could anyone please explain why it is better for society to have the market, and not governments, determine prices of the goods we buy. If the government was running the market, how would you see marketing of goods and services differ than if society has the market?

Thanks, Sugar1 2May.05

It might be more appropriate to post this question at Wikipedia:Reference desk since I am not an expert in that subject. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 17:31, 4 May 2005 (UTC)

Sockpuppets and Blockage

I would love to grab up every possible combo of Wikipedia is Anarchism, but this might further trigger the ire of the vigilante known as User:BrokenSegue. He forced me to AOL by blocking my regular IP. Rickyrab | Talk 04:59, 6 May 2005 (UTC)

I did try to grab up the other combos of User:Wikipedia is Anarchism, only to be blocked at User:Wikipedians are Anarchists. Oh well. Rickyrab | Talk 05:15, 6 May 2005 (UTC)

Here's what User:Curps, the blocker of Wikipedians are Anarchists, said about his blockage of that last username:

OK. I'm not sure the strategy of grabbing every variant will work, though, because there's always one more variant (add an exclamation point or two or three or four, vary the capitalization, etc.) -- Curps 05:22, 6 May 2005 (UTC)

Your call. Rickyrab | Talk 05:27, 6 May 2005 (UTC)

Well, there you go. I'm hanging up on this Wikipedia is Anarchism crap. w00t....... and how did this Wikipedia is Communism vandalism start, anyway? Rickyrab | Talk 05:39, 6 May 2005 (UTC)

Impersonations

You admins really get my goat. And the proper term is "impostor" not "impersonation". I saw an impersonation walking in front of me! doesn't sound right, does it? ClockworkSoul 13:57, 6 May 2005 (UTC)

You don't have to revert my personal messages. They don't count as vandalism or trolling. ClockworkSoul 13:59, 6 May 2005 (UTC)
Excuse me, that was a very legitimate sentence I posted up there. And true, to tell the truth. Put it back or I will! ClockworkSoul 14:07, 6 May 2005 (UTC)
Yes, yes, everybody can tell that. Stressing the obvious is something you're good at, ain't it? ClockworkSoul 14:45, 6 May 2005 (UTC)
  • please refrain from personal attacks. If you believe your edits are legitimate, then show your sources on the talk pages or they will continue to be reverted.--Silversmith 14:58, 6 May 2005 (UTC)
  • FYI: The note was intended for me for archival purposes. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 15:15, 6 May 2005 (UTC)

I gladly blocked ClockworkSoui indefinitely. – Quadell (talk) (sleuth) 15:18, May 6, 2005 (UTC)

What?! I don't know what you're talking about, but my edit in Pope Benedict is legitimate. I saw that phrase this morning while reading TIME, I saw it last week on cnn.com, and I found it on one of his transcribed speechs on vatican.va. How can you say this is illegit? It may have been an impostor who ddi it, but will you revert all his edits even the good ones just because hes an impostor? That is purely illogical. I'm putting it back right now and you do all your editing and stuff but don't take it down. What note are you talking about? Temporary 15:22, 6 May 2005 (UTC)
Note that User:Temporary is just ClockwordSouI back and avoiding the block.--Silversmith 15:27, 6 May 2005 (UTC)
Um, no, the quote ("I guess he didn't listen to me") is a farce. It's not real. – Quadell (talk) (sleuth) 15:24, May 6, 2005 (UTC)
Any search on Google for the words "He didn't listen to me" + Benedict will turn up a surprisingly large number of "farce" quotations of Ratzinger saying this after his election. Temporary 15:49, 6 May 2005 (UTC)
My mistake. – Quadell (talk) (sleuth) 16:03, May 6, 2005 (UTC)

Double Redirects

Thanks. I must be going crazy; I forgot the title of First Past the Post electoral system ended in "electoral system" for some reason.

BTW, I think double redirects should work (but, probably, from the UA's PoV, they should only redirect once), because they make logical, semantic sense edit-side (for the future) in some cases where you actually have a target-most-side redirect going between potentially slightly different concepts—not in this case; obviously, we don't want circular ones though, and there probably has to be some limit.

--Joe Llywelyn Griffith Blakesley talk contrib 12:35, 2005 May 7 (UTC)

Continuing the aside, that is why I was proposing that double redirects look like single redirects public-side (except when one edits them), or, at least, don't actually redirect twice; then there shouldn't be a strain on the server.
--Joe Llywelyn Griffith Blakesley talk contrib 12:45, 2005 May 7 (UTC)

Disco Dog featuring Charlie

Would many people think of a cartoon series that exists on Google or others? Well, I think you said it does not exist.

See the talk page at Disco Dog featuring Charlie for this.

4.1xx.xxx.xxx 11:34 A.M.

  • First of all, there is no point in hiding your IP address since it is automatically listed in the page history [4]. Secondly, none of the articles listed on Talk:Disco Dog featuring Charlie currently mention Disco Dog or the show. Finally and most importantly, you have never cited credible third party sources to back up your claims. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 16:46, 7 May 2005 (UTC)

Pup Named Scooby Doo is close enough to the "bogus" cartoon series, but PNSD is a 1988-1991 cartoon series for about four years, but in only the last eposides, they just suddenly dropped music groups, but then it was gone. 4.1xx.xxx.xxx 11:00 PM

  • I don't see how it is going to do you any good to keep posting messages on my talk page. Once I put it on VFD, and three other users voted to delete the article, it is now out of my hands and in the hands of the administrators of this site. What do you hope to accomplish by only communicating with me directly??? If you think I am an admin, you are wrong -- I am not one yet. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 05:13, 8 May 2005 (UTC)

"Impersonater Vandal"

If this is the vandal who keeps impersonating everybody, I think a more catchy name would be the "Doppelganger" or "Imitator." "Impersonator Vandal" is simply too boring. JM*Bell° 01:23, 8 May 2005 (UTC) (legit account; didn't want to logout and login anymore so I figured I'd post you under this name)

Let's ask if he'd like to rename it, shall we? Although there is no immediate need, a catchy name would surely benefit our cause. -JM*Bell° 01:28, 8 May 2005 (UTC)

Come back!

You know...there are lots of useful things you can do on Wikipedia that don't entail the dramatics of people that bother you. I hope you decide to come back someday - you don't have to be involved in anything you don't want to, but you're a good editor, with useful knowledge. Kingturtle 07:00, 9 May 2005 (UTC)

  • I agree, wikipedia does have it's share of powertrippers and what not. But you shouldn't let other people's shortcomings get you down. I think you are an awesome person. If you had posted my usert talk page I would have voted for you.Klonimus 09:20, 9 May 2005 (UTC)
  • I recently started noticing what you are referring to on Wikipedia - the power trippers as ‘klonimus’ puts it and the very-unnecessary-delays in resolving issues and the unnecessary edits to expanded topics. I personally feel that any topic that contains sufficient and detailed amount of information should no longer be open for editing except for updates, in order to minimize the mercilessly edits – at what point do we classify a topic as complete? I hope you decide to return to Wikipedia and see your great contributions again. --NEWUSER 16:53, 10 May 2005 (UTC)

My friend -- I am sorry. If it was me that was the last straw -- I am truely sorry. This was/is an ambitious and difficult project. Ben Franklin said it wasd very difficuly to get 13 clocks to chime in unison. Imagine the dificuly of getting 6000000000!

I am sorry. Please come back. Robeykr 23:07, 11 May 2005 (UTC)

Good to have you back

Welcome back Zzyzx11! I read through the post you made on your page regarding your new approach to dealing with Wikipedia and I think it’s fair, since you are setting up a guideline, it should help keep your stress level way down (or for your sake, hope it will). I did not get a chance to reply before, as I lost my password and I can’t seem to be able to recall it or find a developer to help me! So this post is made from my office. Welcome Back

It's good to have you back. Howabout1 03:03, 21 May 2005 (UTC)

Just wanted to add my own "welcome back" as well. It's hard to find a balance between Wikipedia and real life. I've had to place restrictions on my own editing time as well, and I think I want to move away from policy discussions and such and more back to direct article improvement. — Knowledge Seeker 04:41, 21 May 2005 (UTC)

Little help

Hi, I noticed you labelled an image I uploaded questioning the "information on its source" or something to that effect. I created the image (Bulkley Valley-Stikine 2001.png) using a shapefile freely available here and data freely available here (pdf). I used ESRI ArcExplorer 2.0 to insert the data into the base map. So I don't think there is a licensing problem, but for future reference, how do I indicate this when I upload? maclean25 07:01, 21 May 2005 (UTC)

Pythagorean Theorum

Fair enough, I just didn't see "Theorum" as a common misspelling. Algebraist 16:53, 23 May 2005 (UTC)

It does in English accents too, actually, I'd just never thought of spelling it that way. But then I'm a mathematician :-) - Algebraist 17:02, 23 May 2005 (UTC)

Yeah

I feel pretty bad about the whole thing. I thought that it was just a funny joke, considering the subject matter. I guess we all make mistakes, mine just caused an almighty problem. Oh well, no admin status means more time to work on articles. That said, care to check out WP:FAC on my Windows 2000 article? - Ta bu shi da yu 00:22, 24 May 2005 (UTC)

Palpatine -- again.

  • Important: Recently, someone removed information from the Palpatine article.

The person responsible noted that "this is not an article on hitler, not is it an article comparing the two, this is an article on palpatine please stick to Star Wars material."

Someone then restored it and again it was removed from the article. This is a situation I believe requires discussion.

Because of this, I have listed this issue on Wikipedia:Requests for comment#Article content disputes.

Thought you should know. Robeykr 05:20, 24 May 2005 (UTC)

Since the Hitler matter appears to have been settled, I removed my message. Another matter has come up concerning our dear beloved megalomaniac who needs no introduction. Friendly Chat

I've never had the pleasure of writing nor of interacting with you. When I saw your User name I became curious and I checked your user page which is amazing. The thing that caught my attention was your failed adminship atempt on May 3. You have all the qualifications to be a great administrator yet, some people were a little too hard on you. If your nomination comes up again, let me know because you are an asset to Wikipedia and I would be honored to vote for you. Take care, Tony the Marine

hallo Zzyzx - my students exercised as oceanographers, taking code from my space preparing for a German demonstration project on virtual university, the idea of Erik Moeller (user:eloquence) of the Wikiversity for online e-teaching and e-research and I offered my cooperation as teacher and my interactive virtual microscope for a course in Meeresbiologie and Biologie der Antarktis - for that project it is important to have reproducible credentials for the teachers. We also plan to move educational content from expensive university servers to the free project (in Germany we don't even have tuition in the University) - help us - or not - I really don't care if I am sysop or not, I have that all behind me - we try to help the NeXT generation - best greetings - keep up with your fine work Uwe Kils PS we are searching for cooperators with real names 68.46.71.104 17:54, 27 May 2005 (UTC)
