The discography of American singer, actress and songwriter, Miley Cyrus consists of two studio albums, one soundtrack, two compilation albums, one live album, two extended plays, ten singles and one DVD under Hollywood Records and Walt Disney Records as both herself and her alter ego, Hannah Montana.

In 2004, Cyrus started auditioning for the role of Lily Truscott on a television series called Hannah Montana. Ultimately Miley Cyrus (born Destiny Hope Cyrus) landed the protagonist role, which included recording eight tracks for the series. With, "The Best of Both Worlds" Cyrus made her first chart entry in the United States at no. 92 in the Billboard Hot 100, meanwhile it reached higher peaks in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany and Portugal.[1] Once Hannah Montana was released, Cyrus became one of the youngest stars to top the Billboard 200 with 281,000 copies in its first week, beating out such artists as John Legend and rock band My Chemical Romance.[2] Plus with seven songs charting in the U.S., simultaneously, Cyrus broke the record for the most songs charting by a female artist in a single week,[3] later Taylor Swift tied with her. Cyrus, as Montana, has sold more than 3 million copies with the album, certifying it triple-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).[4] The album features the top fifty entries, "The Best of Both Worlds" and "If We Were a Movie".

Nine months after the release of Hannah Montana, Cyrus released a follow-up and debut album, Hannah Montana 2/Meet Miley Cyrus. This was done having a a two disc set, one featuring ten songs sang in her Hannah Montana character and the second featuring ten songs credited to herself. This album sold even faster than the first, selling 326,000 copies in its first week.[5] The song, "Nobody's Perfect" earned Cyrus (as Montana), her highest peaking song.[6] Later the record was broken by "Life's What You Make It", also from the album. And in 2009, Cyrus, as Montana, earned her first top ten entry with "He Could Be the One". "G.N.O. (Girl's Night Out)" was Cyrus's debut on the Hot 100 as herself, it was a disappointment (charting at only 91). Later that was broken by Miley Cyrus's first top ten hit, at only 15 years of age, "See You Again".[7] The album has sold more than 3 million copies in the U.S. alone and was certified three times platinum.[8]

After launching other albums to the Hannah Montana franchise, Cyrus finally produced an album without any affiliation to Montana, Breakout. The album also debuted at no. 1 in the United States, this time breaking her record, with 371,000 copies sold in its first week;[9] making it the third-biggest sales week of the year for a female artist, behind Taylor Swift and Mariah Carey.[10] Cyrus's lead single for the album, "7 Things" granted her another top ten and this time having a higher spot.[11] To date the album has sold more than 1 million copies in the U.S., making it platinum.[8]

Hannah Montana: The Movie was her next project, featuring songs by Montana and herself. The album sold less than previous ones with 137,592 copies sold in first week.[12] After a couple of weeks on the charts, Hannah Montana: The Movie claimed the no. 1 spot.[13] The album earned Cyrus, her to date highest peaking song, "The Climb" (no. 4)[14] and another top twenty hit, "Hoedown Throwdown", both credited to herself.[15] "The Climb" is the highest peaking song for any current Disney Channel Star. Miley Cyrus also made chart history by peaking at no. 1 in the Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks with "The Climb" (being the second youngest person to top the chart),[16] by charting at no. 48 Hot Country Songs the same week that Billy Ray Cyrus's "Back to Tennessee" was at. no. 59 (with father-daughter charting separate singles at the same time, it made chart history. That was the first time a father-daughter charted their own singles since Johnny Cash and Rosanne Cash did so in 1990)[17] and making her the youngest person with four no. 1's. After a two months, the Hannah Montana: The Movie went platinum.[18] Then, with Hannah Montana 3 released, Cyrus earned a fourth top ten, this time as Montana, with "He Could Be the One".[19] Meanwhile, the album debuted at no. 2, selling about 137,000 copies in its first week.[20]
