Qualification
The Tankard consists of 11 teams. The defending provincial champions get the first berth. Then, eight of the teams qualify through regional playdowns (2 from each region) and the remaining 2 come from a challenge round.[1] Each regional playdown themselves consist of eight teams, two from each zone of which each region has four of. Zone playdowns can have an unlimited number of teams.
During the Tankard, each team plays each other team once. The top four teams make the playoffs, in which the page playoff system is used.
