Unión Deportiva Almería, usually known simply as Almería, is a Spanish top division football club based in Almería, Province of Almería, South East of Spain . The club played in La Liga as AD Almeria between 1979-1981.
History
The club was founded in 1989 as Almería Club de Futbol (Almería CF), but in 2001 the club was renamed Unión Deportiva Almería.

Primera Division 2007/08
Almeria recorded their first win of the season on the opening day surprising Deportivo 3-0. This was later followed up by a win at rivals Murcia, a draw with Mallorca and two close defeats to title contenders Valencia and Real Madrid.
