Section Removed
Removed a poorly written and short section about others thinking Tails was female and false claims of Sega stating it was true during development(had no sources, as there are none). Seems very unimportant to the article, as the only source one could include is the poorly translated version of an American Sonic cartoon in Spanish which mistakenly refers to him as female. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 142.162.32.87 (talk) 17:55, 14 January 2007 (UTC).
If it were true, I might not be suprised. Lesser Shadow 02:38, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
Section name
Arrgh...I spent a good bit of time improving on Tails, only to find this page. Google says that "Miles Prower" gets 12,000 hits to Tails Sonic's 78,000 and Tails Sega's 36,000. And looking at the history, Tails originally had all the info that is here! Was it really necessary to move this article to a name that's less frequently used at a ratio of 7:1 and 3:1? ~ FriedMilk 10:26, 12 Apr 2004 (UTC)
- I also think that the article should be moved back to Tails... the placement of Tails as a plural of tail seems unneccesary, and it would do better to place this article there and have a small disambiguation. Or, better yet, delete the mention of Tails as tail's plural completely, as it's more of a dictionary definition than anything and would be better off in Wiktionary... I'll mull on it for awhile and if no one has any objections I'll move this article back to Tails. - SonicAD 18:41, 15 Jun 2004 (UTC)
- I redirected "Tails" here. This ain't Wiktionary! WhisperToMe 06:02, 8 Jul 2004 (UTC)
Is there any particular reason why Tails is under the "Furry" category? It might be worth explaining in the article for the more innocent among us who don't understand the ways of furries. --Taras 15:09, 4 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Isn't his just being a humanoid animal character enough to classify him as such? Plus, if Sonic can get away with it (although the same guy who removed the category from here hit there too, it got put back), so should Tails; probably moreso since his fur's much more noticable. Shadow Hog 05:29, 5 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Indeed, any and all anthropomorphic animals are classified as furries; that is the definition of a furry! This applies not only to mammals, but also to birds, reptiles, amphibians, insects, and even primitive invertebrates (if anybody even cares to make such a character.) If it's an anthropomorphic animal, it's a furry. It's as simple as that. That concludes Furry Theory 101. If you have any more questions, just look to Furry fandom. For your information, the Sonic series fandom makes up a large segment of the furry fanbase. --Luigifan 21:54, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
No More Pairings
Please, no more pairing rumours unless it's canon in a universe. Currently, the only canon Tails couples to universes are Robo-Fiona, Barby Koala, Fiona, and Cosmo (though the first and third ones aren't exactly reciprocated...) Tails shows no romantic interest in Cream and treats her like a normal friend. If Tails somehow goes on a date with Cream then you can add it, otherwise it's not beneficial to the article because it's only fan speculation. ~foxrh
- Which means that you fangirls can just LEAVE THIS PAGE ALONE, FOR THE SAKE OF EVERYBODY HERE!!!!!!!! --Luigifan 14:40, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
- Calm down. Normally I would have removed a comment like that, it's sort of considered a "personal threat". But since I've talked to you several times on Wiki and you seem alright, I won't. I'll just say be careful and try to calm down. UnDeRsCoRe 15:42, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
Seriously, how come everyone is saying that Cream is going out with Tails? *sigh* People, please, although it was breifly mentioned in Sonic X, that doesn't mean go all haywire. --Glitch Freak
- Let me reply with a quote I found elsewhere on Wikipedia; "Horny gamers will believe anything". I believe this statement applies to TailsXCream shippers, as well. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a shipper myself; I'm just saying that they're likely to ignore anything that doesn't prove their beliefs (and they're likely to do everything in their power to try to debunk anything that would disprove said beliefs.) This sort of thing is actually part of basic human nature, and I've done it myself; see Wikipedia: Lamest edit wars for more examples of this phenomenon. --Luigifan 16:13, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
Lyrics
"Though they may sound different, They have the exact same lyrics."
Not quite true. There are two versions, and the first repeats an 8-line chorus while, I believe, the second divides it into two 4-5 line choruses as seen here (I wanna fly high... I gotta keep going...). The second also has some wording changes to fit the different rhythm. --Al Fox 05:55, 13 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- Actually, I say we remove the thing altogether. Most people are here for information on the character, not his song. Not to mention it's taking up WAY too much space. --Shadow Hog 17:54, 15 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- I've removed Tails' theme song section - not only is it completely unnecessary, but posting full lyrics (even to a silly videogame song!) is a copyright violation.
It's still there, and the full lyrics aren't there. And it isn't silly and some are much better than modern music. Of course, that's just my opinion, and I don't want a heated argument over the silliness of it or anything. --anon
Argh, plz, don't get too tied up with the lyrics. Yes, they are Tails', so just leave them be. --Glitch Freak
Rumors Section
I really really want to nuke the entire rumors section: It's trivial fancruft, doesn't add anything particularly worthwhile to the article, and only seems to attract increasingly bizarre theories cooked up by fans who twist his character as they see fit. But since I'm a nice guy I'm going to state my opinion here and see if I'm the only one who thinks this way.
(side note: Is there a VfD for article sections?) Nifboy 03:21, 6 May 2005 (UTC)
- Personally I'd keep it; though I see your argument, I think that, considering some of these rumors have pretty big followings, they should still be mentioned.
- As for the side note, AFAIK, no. --Shadow Hog 03:42, 6 May 2005 (UTC)
- There aren't any references to any of the 'rumors', which is usually what makes the difference between what's encyclopedic and what isn't. While the 'female' rumor seems well researched, I say the rest should go. --InShaneee 23:29, 12 November 2005 (UTC)
- I did some editing to the last paragraph. I restructured one of the sentences to be more formal, and changed the wording of another so that it sounds less biased. --TheKillerAngel 7:36 PM, 16 November 2005 (EST) Of Course Tails is Smarter than Eggman How do you think he Beat him in both Sonic Adventure games and i knew that BEFore sonic battle
Well, it's probably a good idea to keep the rumors, since throwing them out would violate a neutral point of view. On the other hand, those "increasingly bizzare rumors" are probably vandalism or trolling, and, either way, shouldn't be kept. If people want to put a rumor on the main article, they should put it on the talk page first and wait to see if the rest of Wikipedia likes it. If not, keep it out, because we don't want to be flooded with every Tom, Dick, and Harry's fancruft!!!! --Luigifan 23:27, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
I want the rumors back for two reasons.
1. It might give me something to laugh about.
2. IT could help tell how many noobish trolls there are here. Lesser Shadow 02:08, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
Holy image flood, Batman!
Why exactly did we remove every image that WAS on the page and replace them with a ridiculously large amount of images, a lot of which look too similar to each other to be worth having on here? Images are good in moderation, but we've gone a little overboard here, don't ya think? --Shadow Hog 03:25, 3 November 2005 (UTC)
- I agree, this is not an image gallery. We should only have images that show something unique; for example: the original Tails from the Genesis days, Tails in the Cyclone from Sonic Adventure 2, a 3D tails out of the Cyclone (like the image from Shadow the Hedgehog now at the top), a 2D image from the Advance games, and a scan from one of the comics. Except for the comic scan, all of those are there, so I vote to delete the rest and add the scan. -- VederJuda 17:21, 3 November 2005 (UTC)
- I still think that's a lot. --TheKillerAngel
== COm
Uhh, not right.
... Okays, the article says his theme's called "Fly High". Isn't it called "Believe in Myself"? Alexie
- An anon added it. Sometimes, some sources label it as Fly High, but most call it "Believe in Myself". I fixed it. -- RattleMan 23:49, 12 November 2005 (UTC)
Some of these pictures must be deleated. I sugest the one from Sonic Battle and the one from Sonic Adventure DX.
Who the heck posted that last comment? THat has nothing to do with anything. But yeah, the theme's called 'Believe in Myself'. --Glitch Freak
Love Interest
Could somebody add that people thought Cream was created to be Tails's love interest? I don't know much about it, so I can't write it. --anon
---
No, because Cream ISN'T Tails love interest, in fact, he doesn't even see her probably on a monthly basis, so what's the point of putting it?
And can everyone stop adding pairing crap to Tails' wiki page? HE'S AN EIGHT YEAR OLD BOY, for God's sake. Disgusting... - lalala
I know, but I repeat, "Could somebody add that people thought Cream was created to be Tails's love interest? I don't know much about it, so I can't write it." Notice the word thought. And please refrain your language. Anyway, in Sonic X (spoiler, BTW) he likes Cosmo. --anon
It's true he likes Cosmo in Sonic X and in Archie he likes Fiona Fox (first the Robo-Fiona and now the real Fiona). I think the "Love Interest" section should be in Tails wiki page because even though he is very young doesn't mean everybody can say "This is disgusting, why should an 8 year old be in love with girls" because love doesn't have to be restricted to a certain age group, love can happen anytime in your life. So anyone who agrees with me that Tails should have a "Love Interest" section that was once there before, please say so. --Yuri Elite
Yeah, I agree, there should be a "Love Interest" section like before, and it should have Cream as a top rumor for the games.
- This is already handled under "With other characters." There is no need to add more about it. Also, this is an encyclopedia, not a fan page. Rumors and speculation should have no place here, with the exception of mentioning common beliefs that are untrue in order to dispel them. --Darksasami 19:08, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, but there should still be a "Love Interests" subsection... --Luigifan 12:20, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
Can I mention the huge number of fan characters created as love interests for Tails? Just go to Fan Art Central; you should see what I mean... --Luigifan 02:05, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
- That contributes nothing. Fan characters are even more fake than rumours. UnDeRsCoRe 23:54, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
- You know what? I'm positive that you're correct there, UnDeRsCoRe. The reason that I brought it up is that your opinion... try telling the fangirls that, and you'll be ripped to shreds. Ugh, it's out of control... Not nearly as much as it is for Shadow, but still rather scary. >_< Like I said, you should go to Fan Art Central; you're going to see what I mean soon enough. --Luigifan 01:22, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
New fangirl?
Oh, geez... It's gotten worse. A new fangirl's posted her fan character, Angel the Cat, on Wikipedia. No, really, there's an article titled "Angel the Cat" on Wikipedia, and, already several users are questioning its verafiability. The article claims that this character is from Sonic the Comic (or some other Sonic the Hedgehog comic series,) but isn't able to prove it. However, the only reason I'm mentioning it here is that this character likes Tails. And, yes, that's in a romantic sense, which, compared to the questionable verafiability, is making my "fangirl alarms" go off. Now, it might not be a fangirl; in fact, I've created a fan character that's in love with Tails, but you don't hear me harping on and on about her; indeed, I haven't even mentioned this character [on Wikipedia] until now, let alone creating an article! So, the fact that this fan character gets her own article is, again, making my "fangirl alarms" go off. But, what do you guys think? --Luigifan 01:38, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- Ah, ^%*%... As it turns out, Angel the Cat is the creation of a vandal. --Luigifan 23:40, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
Has this 'Angel' been removed? If not, I'll delete it. --Glitch Freak
- Yes, this "Angel" got deleted, a long time ago. You're way too late. --Luigifan 14:38, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
Oops. Heh heh. --Glitch Freak
Birthday
Ideally, he's 8 years of age, and his birthday is October 16th, when he made his video game debut. Well, I'm pretty sure that 1992 plus 8 does NOT equal 2005. 1992 plus 8 equals 2000. He did not debut before Sonic nor did he debut after Knuckles. --ZachKudrna18@yahoo.com
- The characters don't age in real time, as you may have noticed; he's 8, simple as that.
- As for how long he's been around, then yeah, it'd be 13 right about now. But I don't think that's what was being asked...? --Shadow Hog 20:57, 13 December 2005 (UTC)
- werent there originally in the old cartoon episodes and in the original sonic 2 game references that tails was one year younger than sonic? suddenly that concept was dropped off and tails became sonics little groupie. also, if in the comics a 5 year old sonic witnessed tails' brith, then why wouldnt tails be 5 years younger than sonic? clearly his age is not truly specified, as it changes in each story. Also, 8 years old doesnt make much sense figuring how mature he acts in many of his situations. who the hell made tails out to be the weak litlle baby anyways? im sorry but i always thought tails could beat sonic any day. he can fly, swim, and he is mechanically inclined, not to mention as smart (if not smarter) than Dr. Eggman. ~~ A TAILS FAN
On the screen where tails is 'wanted' tail's DoB is unknown.
Tails is 8 years old
We all Know he is 8 (his age is given as 9 in Sonic Yoda) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.176.13.196 (talk) 21:14, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

- Sonic Yoda is a Sonic sprite comic, I believe. Never read it, though.
Homosexual rumors added
Recently added was a section on the homosexual rumors which seem rampent for this char. As last i checked wikipedia was not ment to be child friendly and a place for true and useful facts regarding major subjects. I tried to present this in the fairest form possible and wish it edited to show a less biast view. It also may require grammar cleanup as english is not my first langue. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.205.60.111 (talk • contribs) .
- Don't waste your time. Tails is not gay, enough said. Darth Katana X 19:04, 28 February 2006 (UTC)
I agree that Tails is not gay and was never meant to be. Not only is he eight years old, but Sega would never be so stupid as to make a gay character, especially in E rated games, and besides, Tails had a crush on Cosmo in Sonic X. It is a rumour that only turns up in bad (as in "Dear Lord my brain hurts!") fanfiction and equally bad (as in "My eyes are bleeding, make it stop!") fan-art. --Some girl called Harley.
Well, we should put that many put think Tails is gay, but he actually isn't. I put in a fanfiction section, but it's gone. Is it because I wrote, "He is a character most commonly involved in yaoi" or something like that? I didn't say Tails was gay, I'm saying people just make him gay in fanfiction. --anon
You might want to reconsider that. Then tell me, why is he always clinging on to Sonic in the first place?! And this is all because SEGA had to make him a male gender. Oh, but if he was female, then we wouldn't have this problem in the first place. And if he acually was a girl, that that would make more sense why he likes Sonic so much. It could also mean "love", in a way. So, please reconsider that.
Keep in mind Sonic X doesn't exist in the Sonic Series. So, technically, he never loved anyone canonically.-Ovi
Metallic Blade (Gaiaonline) Fox-Blade (deviantART)
Have you ever had a really good friend? I fail to see what is so difficult about understanding this kind of thing. I know I stick to my best friend like glue, but that doesn't mean I like him sexually. Tails and Sonic have a brother/best friend relationship, that's it, there is no sex going on in the background. I will never understand why that is such a difficult concept to people. Flailing Breegull 18:46, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
The whole point isn't whether Tails is gay or not, people will make him that in fandom and they're entitled to that, as there isn't any evidence in the games that Tails is straight and none of them actually think yaoi would happen in a teen game like Sonic, it's that this crap shouldn't be on the page in the first place. Fan couples are fan couples. Fan couples are not official. Tails shows no romantic interest to anyone in the games, regardless of gender, because he is a child. Neither has he done anything romantic with Sonic. So, in addition, it shouldn't be added because it is NOT official and only fan-opinion. But Tails x Cosmo is official to Sonic X because it's apparent Tails harbours feelings for her, just as Tails x Robo-Fiona (and, later, Tails x the real Fiona) is to Archie. ~foxrh
I see this is happening here like it happened with the Spongebob series. Drop the pathetic puritan witchhunt, it's a kid's cartoon/game, they're all a-sexual. -Anon
Agreed, besides, he dated Cosmo, so that section is irrevelant. Karrmann 12:24, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
Will people stop putting "TAILS IS A FAGGOT BUT SONIC DOESN'T MIND" he's not gay he's just young. He probabaly doesn't know what gay means, anyway. (Plainnym 19:09, 23 May 2006 (UTC))
To not mention even the possibility of Tails' homosexuality is a flagrant breach of NPOV and I have tagged it as such. -Anon.
- I don't know whats worse: The fact that this discussion exists, or the fact that its being linked to blogs consisting of bitching about the people participating.--Claude 07:51, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
I cannot believe that anyone is actually having this discussion. This is a sad day for Wikipedia.
Indeed, it's a bit dumb to argue about whether or not Tails is gay, when it is quite clear to anybody who actually pays attention to the established canon that he is not a homosexual. *Sigh* Some people will never learn... --Luigifan 00:09, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
- Well, the only reason we are discussing this is because people just won't stop adding the "gay" (gay, I never liked that word in it's slang from. It's offensive to homosexuals and heterosexuals) rumours. UnDeRsCoRe 00:24, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
Tails has been rumored to have many different ages. One says 13, one says 8, one says 5 or 6. I belive Tails is not homosexual in anyway, shape, or form. When Tails and sonic met, Tails was drowning in quicksand (Archie comics) and Sonic believed that 2 foxes were drowning since he could only see the Tails. He had only time to grab one tail and pulled Tails out of the quicksand. Afterwards Miles "Tails" Prower, joined sonic in his adventure to stop eggman blah blah blah. At the time Tails was only 8 but a prodigy. Then in Sonic Adventure he was in the area of 11-12. Now in the upcoming sonic series which is to be released in 2007 or late 2006, he is at least 13 or 14. When Tails first met sonic he admired him. To Tails, Sonic was his hero and you get the jig (When i grow up i want to be just like you! Your my hero!!) and all that other stuff.. Then in Sonic Adventure, he began taking his life more seriously, and made a few choices of his own. Then in Sonic Adventure 2, For some reason he was reduced back to Sonic's sidekick. In Sonic heroes he had the appearence of his 12 year old form but acted as if he were back to his Sonic Fandom. Sega hasn't exactly given Miles an age. In the new series however, Sega declares he is 13 or 14. This should nullify all rumors of homosexuality, and his age as well. If not then oh well. - Kaizen (Sam)
Somebody blanked the Relationships page with "He's gay. What else is there to say?", but then reverted himself. What that was supposed to mean, I have no clue. Maybe he recieved a warning. --Luigifan 11:14, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
- I saw that. Well, lots of people do that. They vandalize, then revert. Who knows, maybe a way of tricking people into thinking they reverted vandalism, mistake, change of heart? We may never know. 14:27, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
HE'S 8 YEARS OLD!!! He's a little kid with a best friend! It's not a love interest, it's just that Sonic befriended Tails and they have more of a brotherly relationship. --Emerald__Storm 21:51, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
No, he's isn't in love w/ Sonic --Glitch Freak
HE IS NOT GAY, for 1, the Sonic the hedgehog series is child frendly enough not to put homosexual theams,...and arn't there roumers that he likes cream, and like others said he is only 8, sonic is just his friend/adopted brother,...so face it,...CASE CLOSED= Tails is NOT gay!--Sonicobbsessed-The Self-Proclamed Ultamate Sonic Fan 00:45, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

I hate that these Trolls are doing this. attention trolls: Just because you think something does not make it true, so let's make a list of notable trolls, (at least) semi protect this article until the Troll epidemic is done, and do what must be done to resolve the Homosexual rumors and the gender issues. Super Tails or Hyper Tails?
I smell a possible edit war brewing. Right now the article has both Super Tails and Hyper Tails mentioned, and doesn't stick to one or the other. In looking about I see it listed as both by some official sources, so I'm not comfortable changing everything to one or the other. I do think this needs to be resolved though. Does anyone have a more reliable source than I about which his form really was called?
If it is changed to mentioned in the article that he has been called both, which so far as I understand it he has been called both, a decision still needs to be reached about which should be the more commonly used. Flailing Breegull 16:02, 13 March 2006 (UTC)
In S3&K,
- when you get all chaos emeralds, the game says,"TAILS GOT ALL CHAOS EMERALDS", and you don't get any powerup.
- after collecting all super emeralds, it says "TAILS GOT ALL SUPER EMERALDS"..."NOW TAILS CAN BE SUPER TAILS".
The game makes it quite obvious that Super Tails is the offical name. --DavidHOzAu 00:32, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
I always throught it was Turbo Tails, or at least that is in the comic.-- Cami!! 8/05/06
It's known as Turbo Tails in the comics, and Super Tails in S3&K. The comics are known to not be canon to the games. 67.23.84.125 13:00, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
Turbo Tails is the form equivalent to Super Sonic, Super Knuckles, Super Shadow, and Burning Blaze. Super Tails is the form equivalent to Hyper Sonic and Hyper Knuckles, because it uses the Super Emeralds. Tails couldn't use the Chaos Emerals to go super in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, so it wouldn't make sense for him to suddenly be able to do so in Sonic 3 & Knuckles; however, Sega wanted to let him have a form like Super Sonic for that game, so they made Super Tails, which powered up with the Super Emeralds like Hyper Sonic and Hyper Knuckles. However, these forms have only made any further appearances in the Archie Comics (with the absolutely ludicrous number of Chaos Emeralds in existance.) --Luigifan 02:15, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
Turbo tails is from the archie comics...it has nothing to do with the games. Tails does not have a hyper form, mainly because he needed 14 emeralds just to transform, unlike Sonic and Knuckles who transformed with only 7. Within the game itself it is called "Super Tails" and therefore cannot be regarded as a hyper form, whether he used 14 emeralds or not. There was no preceeding form before this, and therefore can only be viewed as Tails needing more Emeralds in order to HAVE a super form. 12:35 Nov. 19
Needs new (grouped? nested?) layout
This article goes all over the place. I'm going to be bold and fix it. --DavidHOzAu 01:53, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
- It is done, and in my opinion looks much better for it. However the article still needs some text to be added. (Relationships needs much more input... he isn't just friends with Sonic, is he?) --DavidHOzAu 02:57, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
- What do you mean by that?!? For crying out loud, Tails is NOT a girl!!!! And he's not gay, either!!!! --Luigifan 22:55, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
- The article isn't completely fixed though. (I wanted to avoid being accussed of vandalism, even though I haven't deleted anything, just rearranged it.) I suggest that a good nested layout model to follow for this article is Sonic's article, and that we follow the ideas in Amy's article for cleaner content. For example, Tail's phyiscal abilities really should come first, with his mechanical abilities being a specialised subset of them. See the abilities section in Sonic's article to see what I'm talking about. --DavidHOzAu 02:57, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
"Triple Threat"
Can someone give an official source for this name? As far as I can see it's just fandom showing through. 86.142.179.66 11:37, 21 March 2006 (UTC)
- There is a Sonic Game Gear game Triple Trouble where this might have stemmed from. -anon
- The Sonic Heroes Vocal Trax was the first to specifically dub them the triple threat. It is official enough for me, and it probably deserves a mention anyway. --DavidHOzAu 01:45, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
Since Sonic Heroes, it's now called Team Sonic. --Luigifan 02:17, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
Age edit war
So recently Tails's age has been changed from 8 to 11 at least three times. I thought putting a link to a page that shows his age RIGHT NEXT to the age statement would be enough, but no, apparently not. We seem to have an edit war going on. Do we need to put in a request to get the page protected? --Darksasami 23:39, 4 May 2006 (UTC)

I think we need an anon block on this page, because this page is getting frequently vandalized by fans adding fancruft, or anons blanking the page or replacing text with stuff like "Tails is a fagot!" Disgusting Vandalism
I was going through history one day and saw all the vandalism. There were pictures of a mutated rat thing and of all the pictures they posted, they posted a disturbing picture of an aroused um...wee-wee and it was totally DISGUSTING!!!! --Plainnym 19:26, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
Oh, dear... what an excellent example of the inescapable fact that the human race is becoming evil to the core. If you ask me, the only way to really stop such disgusting behavior is to enlighten these lost souls, so that they realize that God is the only true road to happiness. Just one thing; try to actually follow Christ's example. There's already enough distrust of Christianity in the world, and another attempt at forceful conversion is only going to make things worse. --Luigifan 02:25, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
- Wow. And you think you're going to win people over by calling them depraved? You know, 85% of the US population is Christian, including such moral luminaries as Ted Haggard, or the child-molesting priests of Catholicism. I'm truly puzzled why, as an atheist, I've yet to go on meth binges with gay hookers, or vandalized Wikipedia, for that matter. I guess my good behavior proves nothing, nor do Haggard and the aforementioned priests. Anecdotally gathered experience of Good Christian Folks, however, are a sure sign of the wondrous power of Our Lord and Savior, and any evildoer is automatically assumed to be a faithless heathen. Great. Unigolyn 03:26, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
- Ha! I laugh at that. You think that the world will suddenly become all happy if people start going to church and "following" Jesus? That's the most stupidest thing I've ever heard. Now, I'm not saying "God" is real or not. I'm just going to point out that not everyone believes in "God", "Jesus" or "Mary". So, before you start blabbing on about how people should follow God, Jesus, etc. stop and think if people actual believe in it first. Oh ya, and another thing, just because someone puts disgusting vadalism, dosen't mean their evil. In fact, it's far from it. Evil is something purely bad. So some stupid vandalism on an online encyclopedia dosen't make you evil. Just rude. UnDeRsCoRe 02:54, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
- Actually, it doesn't matter if you "believe" or not. It is historical fact that Jesus existed and taught tolerance and love for thy neighbor. William Corkery
someone has got to find some info on this guy! By the way, did he really voice Tails in Sonic Battle? 'Cause the William Corkery made him sound, indeed, like an eight year old, but he sounded a bit more mature than that in Sonic Battle (which sounded perfect, by the way), and a little different, so if someone could search for it, that would help; i'll look too, though.
Well, I looked him up on IMDb and didn't find much. Is he an adult or younger than that? I do like the Tails voice he does though...oh, and do Bill Corkery (Vector) and Emily Corkery (Charmy) bear any relation to him? Just some food for thought. TMNT Donatello 07:43, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
He was 8 when he first voiced Tails.
I believe that he's 2/3 years younger than me. I was about 11 when Sonic Heroes came out, and according to Ryan Drummond (Sonic's pre-4Kids VA) William Corkery was about 8/9 when he voiced Tails in SH. So...if you do the math... ChromeWulf ZX 04:14, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

- I don't buy that for a second. There's far too much conflicting information Grandmastergalvatron 19:17, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
- I could buy that, since the Super Emeralds have also seemingly been removed from the series (and of course they were required to assume Super Tails form). Also, the "Super Tails" in Heroes is clearly not Super Tails; indeed, it appears Super Sonic simply enveloped Tails and Knuckles in round shields of some sort, not to mention Super Tails's defining bird quartet is missing in action. --Guess Who 06:01, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, people think that the filenames st_anm.one and sk_anm.one in Sonic Heroes refer to Super Tails and Super Knuckles, when in fact they more likely refer to Shield Tails and Shield Knuckles. Only Sonic was seen using the emeralds and going Super; Tails and Knuckles had shields.--DavidHOzAu 07:35, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

- Or it could be even refering to which team they belong seeing as it is Team Super Sonic.Czin 13:43, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
- Negative on all counts. The team identifier is within the animation files themselves (they are archives). The "shields" are named "Character Ball" in both model name and texture. As for the birds, considering that all of the characters are missing moves, I wouldn't be concerned of that. Tails doesn't even have them in his final pose in Sonic 3 and Knuckles!. If they did mean "Shield" then it would have to apply to Sonic as well. You must remember that only Sonic has ever received the full on impact of the chaos Emeralds. Not even Shadow was affected as much as Sonic was. Color Change /= super. The very fact that they have all the abilities of a Super form should be enough to seal the deal. Especially since Knuckles and Tails never changed color in the first place! Grandmastergalvatron 15:54, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

- Both Tails and Knuckles aren't faster, a characteristic of a Super form since the beginning of it existence, Tails didn't have any power during the boss fight that he hadn't during the entire game. And Sonic always did a Light Attack, but that isn't influenced by Tails, but because in his Super Form he has the power to do it alone without the team blast "reset". "Not even Shadow was affected as much as Sonic was." «-- when?Czin 21:06, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
- (Oy this is getting odd with all these colons) Speed should not be counted in Sonic heroes. As from the looks of it, no one's faster. It's impossible to tell if there's an increase due to the battlefield, and since speed shoes didn't even increase speed, I doubt a super form would. Actually, Super forms have been getting slower in the games. Look at Super Shadow in his own game, you can't go anywhere without jump dashing. As for Tails, look at when he uses thunder shoot. The homing attack auras now appear. That didn't even happen at level 3 in the regular stages. Also, the thunder shoot can actually break the battle ships (but like it you do it with Sonic, you will take damage).
- As for Shadow, If you've ever noticed, only Sonic gets the full effect of the chaos emeralds. it is he alone who gets a color change, eye color change, hair change, aura, metallic texture, and stars all in one package. Shadow at the most gets a color change, aura, and texture change but that's all. Super Sonic has always been the most spectacular looking, even in the Genesis days. He was the only one to go the whole nine yards as Knuckles and Tails didn't even change color and all Metal did was change color. (as in turn to a completely different hue. Knuckles and Tails just glow)Grandmastergalvatron 16:54, 13 September 2006 (UTC)

There's a reason why Tails' age is being edited
Tails is stated as being 12 years old in the Sonic Adventure series... and he DOES age in real time until Sonic Adventure 2. Notice how his speech, self-confidence and smarts grow more and more adult from Sonic 2(Stupid sidekick) through Sonic Adventure(older boy with self-cofidence issues) to Sonic Adventure 2(Independent teenager). After that they made him more and more childish and reverted his age to 8. --Takfloyd

Why not list his different ages?
Whilst I am very much a Wikipedia newbie, and not particularly familiar with Sonic, I thought I might offer a suggestion. The above states that people are constantly editing what this article lists as being Tails' age because it is, supposedly different in some of the games, right? If so, why not alleviate the problem by creating a small list so as to educate people who have been confused by all the different ages. Something along the lines of 'Tails' age has varied throughout the games and elsewhere', then simply listing his different ages and stating which canon they came from. It's probably too minor a thing to consider, but if his age has been causing this article trouble, well... ?Vor'Cha 9:17, 18 December 2006 (EST)
Popularity?
Sorry, new to the editing side of Wikipedia, but isn't the line that's in at the minute about Tails being "the third most popular charcter [sic] of the series, behind Sonic and Shadow" a bit biased? I just wanted to point it out, or at least know I'm doing the right thing before I edit it out. 82.19.17.88 00:52, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

Secular usually means "not pertaining to or connected with religion." Anyway, in my opinion "secular" is not a good fit and introduces confusion. -BoyliciousDarian 15:24, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

- not specifically religious
- not bound by the vows of a monastic order
- secular clergy (term used in Catholicism)
- temporal; something that is worldly or otherwise not based on something timeless
- happening from age to age, as the secular games of ancient Rome
- short-term (term used in finance)

- That is an incorrect assumption. In order for it to be made in the first place, it had to go through Sega's licensing. The company who owns the characters must be notified that the artist is interesting in selling that manga of Sonic, and grant permission to do so. Otherwise, it would be illegal. So technically, it is official. Japan is just far more lenient about such things. Diesir 16:51, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry, that's an unofficial hentai doujinshi. -- RattleMan 16:47, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
- That's ridiculous. Even if SEGA did give them the permission to do so (which I doubt), SEGA didn't write it themselves; it's an unofficial venture into a different universe, per se. I probably won't respond to your rebuttal, if any. -- RattleMan 17:04, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
- You don't seem to understand, so let me reiterate - It would be ILLEGAL if they didn't have Sega's permission before publishing it with their characters. It would simply be risking too much trouble if they went ahead and used Sega's characters (or their likeness) without notifying them beforehand and seeing if they object. Therefore, they had to get Sega's licensing for this special case, and in that sense, it is official. For a very good example of this, check out the Mugen Senshi Valis series. Valis X: Another Destiny is a hentai game, which is a complete departure from the rest of the series, but it is recognized by the creators as an official installment / spinoff, and was very clearly allowed by Telenet due to the visible copyright. But, I see what you mean by separate universes, since the Sonic series has so many of those. In that case, it should still be mentioned in the article somewhere, for Tails in other media. If I recall correctly, several dubs of the Sonic cartoons into other languages referred to Tails as female, at least before Sonic X, so there should be a section about gender confusion and instances where Tails is not a boy in certain versions of the Sonic continuities. 208.101.130.232 18:11, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

- Actually you are quite wrong Diesir this hentai doujinshi along with all there other aren't official nor did the authors demand permission from Sega. Do you really think Sega would accept this crap? Any one who draw hentai can sell it in the big japanese hentai convention, that how this came into existence.
- There a law in japan that permit to sell homemade hentai doujinshi even if it has lisenced character but you can only sell it in those convention who happen rarely, so its legal but Sega doesn't even know his existence because its unofficial and i don't see why Sega would let Sonic and co. get a bad image, stop being delusional. --HolyNightmare 18:21, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
- "Do you really think Sega would accept this crap?" Well, they are certainly capable of accepting it, but never mind that. Regardless, I now see that the laws of Japan are different. I apologize for making those unnecessary revisions, since they appear to be unofficial after all. I still think there must be a small gender confusion section since I brought up the perfectly valid point of Tails officially known as a girl in certain dubs of the Sonic cartoons, at least the Spanish dub of Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, I'm sure. (And BTW, Valis X is still a good example of one that is known by its creators, and no matter what you say I know that is official and licensed by Telenet Japan, but I digress.)
- Here's some additional info I quickly looked up that I think should be integrated into Wikipedia: "Some people, such as the SatAM crowd, claim that Tails could be female, aka "Tailsko". In the Spanish dub of some of the TV shows (including Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog), Colitas (Tails) was referred to as ella (she), and she called herself zorra (vixen). This comes from many things, such as that the Spanish language has masculine and feminine words, and cola, the word for tail, is feminine, and the fact Tails seems to have a big attraction to Sonic. If this was true, this would also wipe away allegations that Tails was bisexual or homosexual and help explain why Tails hangs around with Sonic. However, his real name Miles is not a female name, so technically, the theory only evolves in fanfiction, where the "Tails is a girl" idea is popular, along with the Sonic yaoi theory. Later, in the Spanish dub of Sonic X, Miles' name was translated as Colas, but its male gender was maintained." (http://info.sonicretro.org/Miles_Prower) 208.101.130.232 18:28, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

- Everything you posted is pure speculation and fancrufts the only thing true here is that Tails is a feminine word in spanish,my point is they made a huge error on Aosth. There no point in adding an article because Tails is male on all continuity minus that dub error,Sega created Tails has a male for the sidekick contest,so its stays that way.Like the article you posted say this theory only evolves in fanfiction.--HolyNightmare 18:44, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
- TAILS IS NOT A GIRL!!!!!!!! Would Tails REALLY be an engineer if he was a girl? That stuff is really for boys. Besides, if he WAS a girl, Sega would draw him with eyelashes, just like every other female character in the series. Have you ever seen Amy, Cream, Rouge or Blaze w/o eyelashes? Spottedstripe 20:18, 1 July 2007 (UTC)
- If you still need more evidence, all of Tails's official love interests are girls. The Sonic series is supposed to be marketable towards kids, so SEGA is [quite sensibly] refusing to allow any traces of homosexuality to mar their characters. I realize that Tails does not have any official love interests in the games (despite what the TailsXCream shippers try to say,) and I wasn't referring to that continuity; I was referring to the Archie Comics and Sonic X continuities. In Archie Comics, Tails develops a crush on a robot named Fiona, who is based on a genuine vixen. After the robot rusts, Tails (still heartbroken) heads to the Downunda a short time later, to battle Crocbot and Octobot. While he's there, Barby Koala, a member of the Downunda Freedom Fighters, develops a crush on him, although Tails is oblivious. A long time passes after those adventures, and the actual, organic Fiona Fox shows up to join the Freedom Fighters. This immediately activates the memory of the Fiona robot, and Tails develops a crush on Fiona. Unfortunately, this crush is not reciprocated, as Fiona is far older than Tails and prefers boys around her age; she dates Sonic for a short time, before revealing that she is truly in love with Scourge the Hedgehog. Fiona slaps Tails before departing, and poor Tails is left heartbroken all over again. Finally, in the 25 Years Later series, Tails is shown to be married to Mina Mongoose. As I have already stated, SEGA would not create lesbian characters, so this means that Tails has to be male. In addition, Tails and Mina have children, and reproduction could only occur between two opposite-gender individuals. As for Sonic X, Tails falls in love with Cosmo, who is clearly established to be female; the feeling is mutual, and, remember, neither SEGA nor 4Kids would be stupid enough to allow them to be quagmired in a lesbian controversy. This means that both characters are heterosexual, and therefore, Tails must be a male. And, before I forget, the Sonic Adventure 2: Battle describes Tails as "a friendly boy fox with two tails", and Eggman calls him "fox boy" on more than a few occasions throughout the game. If this doesn't prove that Tails is a boy, I don't know what will. --Luigifan 15:50, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
If Tails were a girl that'd make Cosmo homosexual as well, take that trolls. Lesser Shadow 02:11, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
- I have a very clear reccolection of reading about Tails in one of the Sonic manuals (I think Sonic 2). I remember distinctly the words "she" and "her" in those manuals refering to tails. I also remember being confused by this since "Miles" was a boy's name. Still, I think this might be where people are getting the whole "Tails is a girl" thing. It seems to me that Tails' gender has been depicted diferently in some places than in others. It's not that surprising since due to Tails' age (since Tails has universally been depicted as younger than the main characters) the character would have an androgenous appearence either way. 216.165.132.250 16:34, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
Alright, can you give us a scan? Lesser Shadow 08:10, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
- If he gave you a scan you would not understand it anyway as its written in japanese, however I have this site that translated the Sonic 2 manual into English.
- The Japanese manual refer Tails as a "he" and a "Young fox", so he's a guy end of story and stop spready that lie crap already(Directed to the user who didn't sign his name).
- Not to mention in every freaking official artwork he look like a young boy.HolyNightmare 09:01, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
I've looked around trying to find scans of the manual, but have been unable to do so. (The manual I originally read belonged to my uncle, who has since disposed of his old Genesis paraphenalia.) While the site you've linked does indeed use "he", I must point out that that site is not a scan of the manual packaged with the game, thus isn't what we're looking for.
Incidentally, I take exception to your insinuation about me. "spready that lie crap". I recognise that my reccolections are fallable, but this insinuation that I'm being deliberately deceptive is insulting and uncalled for. I didn't go through the article adding lines consistent with my reccolection. Rather, I posted those reccolections on this talk page in an effort to clear up amongst people where I believed this debate to have originated. I was hopeful that the manuals might be consulted either confirming my reccolection or demonstrating that my reccolections were incorrect. I was hoping to point this conversation/arguement in a more productive direction. If I had the manuals on hand, I could consult them directly rather than rely on reccolections from years ago, but I don't, so all I can provide is a clue to where the information might be (if I remember correctly) and hope that someone has the source needed to confirm or deny my reccolection.
Oh, and I followed the directions regarding signing. It says 4 tildes, so I put 4 tildes. I don't have an account here, so the IP address shows. 97.87.61.174 07:13, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

What happened to the image?!?
What the? Who deleted the image of Tails? That's the most recent image of Tails we have; there wasn't any reason for it to be deleted! Now we're stuck staring at infoboxes with no image at the top! Could somebody please undelete or replace the image? --Luigifan 12:40, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
- Hey luigifan,a mod deleted it(Daniel Case) it because there was no rational...weird because alot of image on Knuckles,Sonic,Amy etc doesn't have any rational either.
- I temporary put the Sonic Rival 2 Tails, its bad quality(I extracted it from the banner)but i am waiting till they officialy release it.
- Since mods keep deleting all those pictures on this article i added rational to almost all of them so it doesn't happen again.HolyNightmare 23:25, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
Videogame Origins
This is interesting, but this part of the article is way too small. Is is really useful?i think it should be deleted or at least it should be improved further,i could help by adding pictures. If we are going by the japan continuity which i believe is the true canon,it should just say Tails'Adventure is the prequel to Sonic the hedgehog, since its take place before Tails meet Sonic,so its not only in the japanese back story.HolyNightmare 07:01, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
- I removed it. It was too small, didn't add much, and Tails Adventure also never said that he is "from" the island, just that he lives there. Gurko 15:43, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
Fan Speculation Section?
Maybe we could make one of those, I mean there's enough fan speculation. Lesser Shadow 21:30, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

Concerning Tails in Sonic Rush Adventure
Now that the game is out(I don't have the game yet),it would be nice if someone added some info concerning the vehicles Tails built or his relashionship with Marine and also i believe its possible to improve the Subsequent appearances section concerning Tails apparence in Sonic Rush Adventure.HolyNightmare 20:47, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
- You are the same HolyNightmare from the GameFAQs boards, right? --Luigifan 11:34, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
Yeah...i thought you already knew that, anyway it would be fun if we could add Tails'vehicles in the creation section. I'll do it if no one does, its just that my grammar is weak.HolyNightmare 16:31, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
Ok, here's a draft sentence "Tails, along with Sonic get bugged to death by a stereotypical Aussie-ocker squirrel thing. You know, the 'relationships' that Sonic had with everyone was removed because it became very tedious - blame Sega for all their throwaway characters...Sten28 (talk) 03:54, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
- LOL, true that. Still though, the vehicle thing Holy Nightmare brought up was a good point. Sorry, I still need some cash to but the game, so someone else will have to contribute. Spottedstripe(Talk2Me) 15:57, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
