The Murjan City Tallest Tower is a supertall skyscraper planned to be built in Bahrain. The project owner is a Swedish company, with Henning Larsens Tegnestue A/S, Denmark, as the architect. The tallest tower is currently planned to be 1,022m high, which is significantly higher than any skyscraper standing today, including the Burj Dubai. However, a planned completion date of the project has not yet been set. This 9.3 million square metre edifice aims to be "the most luxurious ever built", and is also intended to contain what the developer considers the world's largest shopping mall.
Competition for the World's Tallest Title
The Murjan Tower is competing with several other nearby mega projects, including:
- Burj Dubai, located in Dubai, UAE, which is, as of September 2007, under construction and taller than the CN Tower.
- Al Burj, Dubai, UAE, which is located 50 km away from Burj Dubai.
