AfD nomination of Rolf Bae

I have nominated Rolf Bae, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Rolf Bae. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? -Lilac Soul (talk contribs count) 19:45, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just wanted to encourage you to keep up the good work on the Rolf Bae article. I think you're engaging Wikipedia as it should be engaged. Think of deletion efforts as honest evaluations by other editors, and I'd say your improvements to the article are the appropriate response. Good job! --Quartermaster (talk) 00:04, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

John McCain archiving

Hello. Please don't forget to provide an edit summary, which wasn't included with your recent edit to Talk: John McCain. Thank you. -- Comandante {Talk} 20:55, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. Just making sure protocols and whatnot are being followed. I didn't want the archive thing going away in case one of the users who actively edit the article didn't want to use an auto-archive (I've been a bit wary of them as well, since when I tried to use the same thing for my talk page, it kept taking the most recent comment on it and posting it repeatedly to the same archive). It might be a good idea to bring the archive suggestion up as I don't have the final say. Again, just erring on the side of caution. -- Comandante {Talk} 21:10, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting it into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is considered undesirable because it splits the page history which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other articles that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. Gaza conflict

No need to get personal and throw f-words around. If the bot is not able to keep the page accessible there is no rule preventing editors to create archives. The page is continously getting way too large (>200 kb, once even >500kb). This excludes users with no high speed connection from editing (or even reading). With the highest respect to the sensitive topic, threads become dead horses much earlier on high traffic sites than elsewhere. If you feel a discussion was archived that was not yet dead please extract this one from the archive, but don't do wholesale reverts. The large size already led to a situation where new threads are added on top instead of the bottom with the older stuff stuck in the middle of an unloadable mess. For every category you create, you should specify parent categories to which it belongs. You do this by listing the parents near the bottom of the page, each enclosed in double brackets like so:

[[Category:People from Nord]]
[[Category:Parent2]]

Linking dates

Please read MOS:UNLINKDATES, the one you referred to. It says "Linking: Dates (years, months, day and month, full dates) should not be linked, unless there is a reason to do so." --Skizzik talk 12:16, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That page is about Template:Persondata! Where do you see any rules or guidelines that one should link the birthdate (or any date that do not contribute to the readers' understanding of the topic)??? --Skizzik talk 12:29, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I will revert it a second time now, please provide a link that really support your agenda before adding it again. Thanks. --Skizzik talk 12:50, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes I know that rule and therefore I'll not revert it again after the second one, the only person who has already reverted it 3 times is You. And You have still not provided a link that back up your vision. Where in MoS do you se anything that backup linking birthdate?? How do you interpret "Linking: Dates (years, months, day and month, full dates) should not be linked, unless there is a reason to do so."??? Please answer, and you should have done that before reverting! --Skizzik talk 15:35, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sigh... Why not reconsider your very personal interpretation of "unless there is a reason" before continuing making, I'd say, destructive edits. --Hapsala (talk) 15:44, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I just happened to be here by coincidence, and decided to give my opinion since I have been in this type of fights in the past. Per MOS:UNLINKDATES dates should not be linked "...unless there is a reason to do so...". My personal interpretation of this sentence is "... unless there is also a link back in the respective year and month-day articles ...". So if Carl Lundström is so notable that you can add a link to his article in 1960 and/or April 13 articles respectively, then a link on the dates of in his birth date is justified.
The other valid reason that I can think of is explaining in the article of Carl Lundström why his birthdate is important (for example, "he was born a few days after the United States launches the first weather satellite, TIROS-1.") but obviously there should be a link between this fact and the person. Just my opinion to help to solve the situation.

POTD scheduling

Hi and thanks for your efforts in scheduling the Picture of the day. However, the image you selected, File:Lutheran Cathedral Helsinki.jpg is not a Featured Picture. The Pictures of the day are selected from the existing Featured pictures in a roughly FIFO order. If you are interested in nominating this image for Featured status, please do so at Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates. Proposed new policy

As a recent contributor to Deaths in 2009, you may be able to help decide on a proposed new policy. It is proposed that:

A month should be deleted from the "Deaths in [CURRENT YEAR]" page ONE WEEK after the month ends.

Please opine at Talk:Deaths_in_2009#Proposed new policy. Don't just say

  • Support.

or

  • Oppose.

Also state your reasons and participate in the discussion. Michael Hardy (talk) 16:29, 2 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Admin intervention has been requested

I have requested admin intervention at Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents#Users_continually_re-inserting_LINKVIO_links, in relation to your continued insertion of WP:LINKVIOs at We Don't Wanna Put In. The reasons for their removal was clearly explained on their talk page, and you have ignored this. Your claims of "political" reasons for removal is ridiculous if had read the talk page. Surely you have better things to do than ignore policies such as that, because I sure as hell have better things to do than to request admin intervention because of a user who should know better. Instead of violating policies such as that, there is nothing stopping you from expanding the article, and including the contentious verse of lyrics in the article, as they have received critical commentary in the press, and the inclusion in the article can be justified under fair use. --Russavia Dialogue 07:47, 15 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have noticed your edit history as regards to articles related to Russian government policy, and ask you to think twice before littering my talkpage with rude accusations. Anyway, you are saying that Google owned YouTube has committed a violation the Georgian pop group's right to its own work; but how can you be so sure? The YouTube uploader seems to specialise on this type of video, and Youtube has been used by many copyright owners to promote their material. So, what specific indications support your allegation of copyright infringment is this case? --Hapsala (talk) 14:54, 15 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Why do you keep inserting the links which are clearly against WP:LINKVIO? Offliner (talk) 13:47, 15 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Why are you so sure that this is a case of clear copy-vio? Did you talk to the Georgian proprietor? Or are you just presuming that the external link should go because you don't support the inclusion of the link for other reasons? --Hapsala (talk) 13:54, 15 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
