Template:FixBunching Template:FixBunching Total Drama Action is the second season of the Canadian animated television series Total Drama Island. The show premiered in Teletoon Canada at 6:30 et/pt[2] on January 11, 2009. This series was also created by the makers of 6teen, another Teletoon program.

Plot

Like its predecessor, Total Drama Island, this season's series is an "animated reality show" starring fifteen teenagers. This series still parodies other reality competition TV shows, like Fear Factor and The Real World. The original twenty-two "campers" were cut down to fifteen "castmates" after the reunion special's dramatic ending between these seasons. Both host and assistant Chris McClean and Chef Hatchet will return as the castmates' supervisors and challenge distributors. The theme of this series is "Cinematography". These fifteen castmates have found out that they will be staying in an abandoned movie studio lot in Toronto, Ontario. Since the theme is all about movies, the competitors are treated as real actors. They stay in small, unaccommodating actors' trailers competing against each other and themselves. Challenges come back for this season, as well. Unlike the random TDI challenges, TDA challenges will be based upon which movie genre the castmates will portray. The "mess hall" of TDI will also be replaced this season with the Craft Services tent, which will also be catered by Chef Hatchet once again. The "outhouse/confession can" of TDI was used to let the audience at home know what the campers were really thinking about. In TDA, this was replaced with the "Make-Up Confessional", a room full of make-up and body enhancements. If the castmates were able to make it past Chris, the daily challenge(s), and themselves, their fate would, then, have to be decided. TDI also used the outhouse/confession can to cast votes as to who they would like voted off. Cast-mates of TDA now used "voting devices" placed under their seats to vote someone off. The elimination bonfire ceremony was replaced with an "awards ceremony", where all but one person would receive a Gilded Chris Statuette (which took the place of the marshmallows). The losers of Total Drama Island had to walk down the Dock of Shame, board the Boat of Losers, and leave the campsite (to go to La Playa De Losers); however, the Total Drama Action losers must walk down the Red Carpet Walk of Shame, get into the Lame-O-Sine, and leave the film lot for good (it is unknown to the viewing world where the losers go). This process is supposed to continue until one castmate is left on the film lot.

TDA Aftermath

The TDA Aftermath show is hosted by Geoff and Bridgette and so far, 18 people out of the original 22 contestants are commentators and/or hosts (Ezekiel, Eva, Katie, Tyler, Cody, Sadie, Geoff, Bridgette, Izzy (a.k.a. E-Scope/ Explosivo), Trent, Gwen, DJ, Owen, Heather, Harold, Justin, Lindsay, and LeShawna) and have been eliminated from TDI/ TDA. So far, they have 4 episodes (3 aired, 1 temporarily unaired), interviewing 2 (once 3) recently eliminated contestants.

Note: Courtney was originally eliminated unfairly from TDI and an Aftermath commentator, but she managed to win a lawsuit and return to the competition, thus making her no longer an Aftermath commentator.

Characters

The Total Drama Action cast consists of Chris McClean (the host), Chef Hatchet (the caterer and assistant), and the fourteen teens that make up the castmates. These cast-mates were divided into teams of six: The "Screaming Gaffers" and The "Killer Grips". Geoff and Bridgette, two of the fourteen castmates were eliminated before Episode 3, "Riot On Set", when the teams were decided. Gwen and Trent won the challenge of that same episode and got the privilege of choosing the teams for the rest of the season. Courtney, a "camper" who did not qualify for Total Drama Action, later rejoined the remaining cast-mates due to a technicality with the last season, and she was placed on the Killer Grips team.

Production

Like Total Drama Island, Total Drama Action was developed and produced by Fresh TV, targeting an age group of 10 to 15 year olds.

Various voice actors from 6Teen come back as the same actors for the same people of this season. Christian Potenza as Chris McClean, Julia Chantrey as Eva; Drew Nelson as Duncan; Megan Fahlenbock as Gwen; Adam Reid as Justin; Stephanie Anne Mills as Katie and Lindsay; Rachel Wilson as Heather; Emilie-Claire Barlow as Courtney; Lauren Lipson as Sadie; and Peter Oldring as Cody and Tyler.

Notes

1 Izzy returned using her real name (but later made a new alter-ego, Explosivo) because she was first voted off as her first name, E-Scope.

2 Geoff and Bridgette were voted off before the teams were formed.

3 Episodes 1, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, and 22 had no Gilded Chris Ceremonies. There was an elimination ceremony only in every other episode from 3 and on.

4 In episode 2, 2 people were voted off instead of 1.

5 DJ quit the game because he felt guilty of making an illegal alliance with Chef Hatchet and for cheating.

6 Courtney sued Total Drama Action because she originally did not qualify, and in the episode she made her debut in, she was immune from being voted off, even though everyone voted for Courtney (except for herself) at the Gilded Chris Ceremony.

7 On episode 16, the teams were merged.

8 Lindsay was the actual winner of this challenge.

9 Owen did not participate in the challenge.
