Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is an American animated series in the franchise of the same name, set to premiere on September 29, 2012[1] on Nickelodeon.

Production

The video hints at some changes, namely the two Turtles who traditionally carry blunt weapons have had their weapons changed to similar bladed versions. Donatello uses a naginata instead of a bo, and Michelangelo uses a kusarigama instead of nunchaku. But the trailer revealed that both turtles have their original weapons.[2]

At the Nickelodeon Upfront Conference,[citation needed] it was announced that actor Jason Biggs will voice Leonardo and Rob Paulsen, who voiced Raphael in the 1987 series, will now voice Donatello in the upcoming series. In June 2011, it was confirmed that Sean Astin would voice Raphael and Greg Cipes would voice Michelangelo.[3] On August 8, 2011, it was revealed that Mae Whitman will be the voice for April O'Neil. In July 2011, it was revealed that Hoon Lee will be the voice of Master Splinter.[citation needed] In October 2011, it was revealed that Kevin Michael Richardson will be the voice of the Shredder.[citation needed] In April 2012, actors Phil LaMarr and Nolan North revealed they will be playing the roles of Baxter Stockman and the Kraang respectively.[4][5] Actress Kelly Hu confirmed her role as Karai in May 2012.[6]

Production art for the show was made available on the official website before it was mysteriously taken down. The images showed the designs of all four Turtles, Shredder, Splinter, a teenage April O'Neil and the Kraang, an alien race that combines elements of both Krang and the Utroms. [7]

A trailer for the series was released on June 21, 2012 on Nickelodeon USA.[2].
