See Planck time and Orders of magnitude (time); you can easily see from the protection logs that they've been protected for one week (11218573000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 Pt) and two weeks (22437146000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 Pts). Yes, ok, that's fine. But it'd be a real help at least if you'd just note that on the RFPP so more people don't ask you the same thing, especially ones who don't know how to view the protection log.  BarkingFish  23:30, 13 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi BarkingFish- The school admins dictate certain rules, I tried to suggest other ideas, but generally intend to work around regulations and not get bogged down. I understand your logic. Most all seems okay for now, just that the school seems to operate with only one IP address, currently frozen. Class starts Friday, April 20 at 15:30 UTC so hope all will have access. Wikipedia Stories Project

Hi!

My name is Victor and I'm a storyteller with the Wikimedia Foundation, the non-profit organization that supports Wikipedia. I'm chronicling the inspiring stories of the Wikipedia community around the world, including those from readers, editors, and donors. Stories are absolutely essential for any non-profit to persuade people to support the cause, and we know the vast network of people who make and use Wikipedia have so much to share.

I'm curious about your work on medical topics on Wikipedia

I'd very much like the opportunity to interview you to tell your story, with the possibility of using it in our materials, on our community websites, or as part of this year’s fundraiser to encourage others to support Wikipedia. Please let me know if you're inclined to take part in the Wikipedia Stories Project.

Thank you for your time,

Speedy deletion

Hi. I appreciate that you are doing your best for Wikipedia by nominating a number of articles for speedy deletion, but you should be aware that I have declined a number of these (Gorou Ibuki, Jen Gould, Mikiho Niwa and Rich Aron) because they are not candidates for speedy deletion.

The requirements for speedy deletion under notability are very strict. If they do not assert credible notability then they are potentially candidates for speedy deletion. However if they do make a credible claim, and please note that they do not even need to provide references, then they will NOT be deleted by speedy deletion.

Take Jen Gould for example. The claims are that she won a music award, and a leading lady in a theatrical play for 4 seasons. Either are sufficiently credible to mean this article won't be speedy deleted. What's more, there is a reference made to back up the claim of the music award.

If you still think an article should be deleted, then I would recommend WP:PROD or WP:AFD/

I would recommend re-reading the policy on speedy deletion and candidates for A7, as this would help make sure you choose the correct deletion template for an article. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Stephen! Coming... 21:06, 30 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, BarkingFish. I'm not even sure if this'll work.. First time I try to contact a Wikipedia member. I just wanted to know, was it you who uploaded the fake numbers station example? Hi Guyome, yes I do still have a copy of it - although after it was removed from the Numbers station article here, I had it taken down from Commons as "no longer in use". If you are looking for a copy, please let me know.  BarkingFish  13:08, 14 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Fish Bread

Hi, I noticed that you de-prodded the article Fish Bread and requested to have it transwikid to Wikibooks Cookbooks. I think that article may, in fact, be a hoax and thus not appropriate for transwiki-ing. The creator of that article has done nothing with their account except make various hoax pages (included other so-called recipes), all of which have been deleted already. I would be a little suspicious to believe that he happened to make one, non-hoax article in the midst of all of the more obvious hoaxes. In addition, looking around, I found only one actual hit for a recipe for something called "fish bread" and the recipe is in no way similar to the one presented here, nor is any of the supposed history presented verifiable. I'm certainly no expert on cooking, so I may be wrong about this, but I thought I should at least bring this to your attention. Rorshacma (talk) 22:39, 6 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your contact, Rorshacma - Fish bread actually does exist, and there are plenty of different recipes for it - including the best known one, which happens to be French - see this link - it bears little resemblance to the recipe posted here, but I can vouch that it is authentic. Cloak application

Cloak request completed. FishBarking? 00:35, 10 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Whatever...

Hi! Nice to meet you.

When I edited the article, there was no CSD tag on it. When I saw the article history, I saw that the creator was (probably) struggling with properly structuring the article, and was repeatedly removing and adding content. So, I helped him with initiating the structure of the article. Afterward, I see he has been expanding the article nicely (so may be my guess that he was simply struggling due to technical issue may be true).

Rather than going by rules only, I did use some history search, and the result is not too bad, what say? I was careful in this case, that is why checked the article history, and tried to fathom the problem rather than following the rule blindly.

What you did was probably not check the content properly, and tried to tag it for CSD. Content-wise, the article does not qualify for CSD. So, you tried to follow the rule, which is very good. I added something on top of rule, that is being careful :) Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 22:44, 17 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

What I did was seeing that the only author on the work had blanked the page, which is an express right under G7, I tagged it for speedy deletion under the G7 criteria. When the csd saved, I noticed that there had been data restored to the article while I was applying the csd tag, which you had done - G7 is an express wish for deletion by the only author of the work, so obliging their wishes, I tagged it as such. I removed that tag immediately, upon noticing the restored data. At the time I applied the tag, the history clearly shows (Blanked the Page) - which is a clear wish for deletion under G7, saving and leaving the article with no content. FishBarking? 22:52, 17 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
You are not reading CSD G7 properly. It reads, "If the sole author blanks a page other than a userspace page or category page, this can be taken as a deletion request. ". So, blanking by the sole author can be taken as a request, not must be.
In this particular case, if you had looked at the content the author was trying to add, perhaps you could have understood that it is more likely that the author is not requesting deletion. I looked at the content, guessed that probably the author is facing technical (wikifying) difficulties in creating the article. So, I helped him initiate the article. Then, he expanded it. He did not blank it anymore, which goes to subtantiate my guess that he, in the first place, did not intend to delete it.
You told in my talk page, "Since you have now re-added that work, the author's wishes can no longer be complied with". To the contrary, what I did actually helped the author in realizing his wish! CSD was not his wish. So, let me copy-paste from your message in my talk page, "Please be careful about what you edit and how :)". Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 23:52, 17 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Open proxy catch: Not sure if this is correct or not

Hi guys. I am not sure entirely what is going on right now, I am staying with a friend of mine overnight in Nuremberg, and I've tried to log in both here and on freenode, and the system is screaming at me that this is an open proxy. I have no idea what an open proxy is, but unless something is wrong with my buddy's internet connection, this can't be right. Can someone please tell me what the hell is going on? IP block exempt

I have granted your account an exemption from IP blocking. This will allow you to edit through full blocks affecting your IP address when you are logged in.

Please read the page Wikipedia:IP block exemption carefully, especially the section on IP block exemption conditions.

Note in particular that you are not permitted to use this newly-granted right to edit Wikipedia via anonymous proxies, or disruptively. If you do, or there is a serious concern of abuse, then the right may be removed by any administrator.

Appropriate usage and compliance with the policy may be checked periodically, due to the nature of block exemption, and block exemption will be removed when no longer needed (for example, when the block it is related to expires).

I hope this will enhance your editing, and allow you to edit successfully and without disruption. James F. (talk) 23:55, 27 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Lantern transparent.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Happy New Year

Best wishes for the New Year!
Here's wishing you and yours a joyous, healthful, and productive 2013!

Please accept a belated thank you for the well wishes upon my retirement as FAC delegate this year, and apologies for the false alarm of my first—and hopefully last—retirement; the well wishes extended me were most kind, but I decided to return, re-committed, when another blocked sock was revealed as one of the factors aggravating the FA pages this year.

Maintaining standards in featured content requires vigilance, dedication and knowledge of people like you, who are needed; reviews are always welcome at FAC, FAR and TFA requests. Somehow, somehow we never ever seem to do nothin' completely nice and easy, but here's hoping that 2013 will see a peaceful road ahead and a return to the quality and comaraderie that defines the FA process, thanks to many dedicated Wikipedians!
