The cast of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. at the 2013 San Diego Comic-Con International (L-R: Gregg, Wen, Dalton, Bennet, Caestecker)

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., or simply Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., is an American television series created for ABC by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon, and Maurissa Tancharoen, based on the Marvel Comics organization S.H.I.E.L.D. (Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division). The series stars Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen, Brett Dalton, Chloe Bennet, Iain De Caestecker, and Elizabeth Henstridge, and revolves around the character of Phil Coulson, who assembles a team of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents to investigate superhuman occurrences. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and features a number of actors who have reprised their roles from the films and One-Shots within the franchise including: Gregg, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Maximiliano Hernández, Titus Welliver, and Jaimie Alexander.

Phil Coulson Clark Gregg A S.H.I.E.L.D. agent who oversees many of the division's field operations.[1] In "Beginning of the End", Nick Fury makes Coulson the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., and tasks him with rebuilding the agency "the right way".
Melinda May Ming-Na Wen A S.H.I.E.L.D. ace pilot and weapons expert whose nickname is "the Cavalry".[2]
Grant Ward Brett Dalton A S.H.I.E.L.D. black ops specialist.[3] Ward is revealed to be a Hydra agent in "Turn, Turn, Turn".[4] He was recruited by John Garrett to Hydra as a teenager in a flashback in "Ragtag". He was arrested in "Beginning of the End".
Skye Chloe Bennet A civilian recruit who is a computer hacker and member of the hacktivist group called "the Rising Tide."[5] She becomes a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent in "End of the Beginning". In "Ragtag", Raina revealed that Skye was a child of some unidentified monsters that attacked a village that she was extracted from.
Leo Fitz Iain De Caestecker An agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. who specializes in engineering, especially weapons technology.[5][6]
Jemma Simmons Elizabeth Henstridge An agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. who specializes in life sciences (both human and alien).[5][6]

He is killed by Coulson in "Beginning of the End".
Victoria Hand Saffron Burrows 107 – "The Hub" 4 A high-ranking agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. who runs the S.H.I.E.L.D. base called "the Hub."[9] She is later killed by Grant Ward in "Turn, Turn, Turn".
Mike Peterson / Deathlok J. August Richards 101 – "Pilot" 8 An ordinary man that was artificially enhanced with the Extremis-containing Centipede serum by Project Centipede,[10] Peterson later joins S.H.I.E.L.D.[11] and falls under the control of the "Clairvoyant" after losing his right leg,[12] which was replaced with a bionic prosthetic as part of "Project Deathlok".[13] In "Beginning of the End", he rebels against Garrett with Skye's help and leaves to seek redemption for his crimes as Deathlok.
Ian Quinn David Conrad 103 – "The Asset" 7 A wealthy mining philanthropist and the CEO of Quinn Worldwide,[14][15] with connections to the "Clairvoyant" and Project Centipede.[16]
Raina Ruth Negga 105 – "Girl in the Flower Dress" 6 An elite member of Project Centipede, serving as its recruiter.[17] She was arrested by S.H.I.E.L.D. in "The Magical Place" and later sprung from prison by Grant Ward in "Providence".
Antoine Triplett B. J. Britt 114 – "T.A.H.I.T.I." 8 A S.H.I.E.L.D. agent working under Garrett who specializes in combat/weapons.[7][18] Triplett joins Coulson's team after Garrett is exposed as a Hydra agent.

Marcus Daniels Patrick Brennan 118 – "Providence" 2 Daniels has the ability to drain the energy out of anything around him,[22] following an experiment with the Darkforce. He was incarcerated in the Fridge until he was freed during John Garrett's raid. He exploded when Coulson and Triplett shined their pure light devices on him in "The Only Light in the Darkness".
Debbie Shannon Lucio 101 – "Pilot" 2 A scientist that works for Project Centipede.[10] She was later incinerated by Scorch in the "Girl in the Flower Dress".[21]
Seth Dormer Daniel Zovatto 112 – "Seeds" 1 A cadet at the S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy of Science and Technology who helped Donnie Gill create a weather device and has a father that works as a lawyer at Quinn Worldwide. He went into cardiac arrest after an incident with the device.[16]
Tobias Ford Robert Baker 109 – "Repairs" 1 A technician who worked on the Particle Acceleration Complex at StatiCorp and was responsible for the explosion there.[23]

Thomas Nash Brad Dourif 116 - "End of the Beginning" 1 A vegetative man who was used to make Coulson's team think he was the Clairvoyant. He was killed by Grant Ward.[31]

Luca Russo Carlo Rota 113 – "T.R.A.C.K.S." 1 A member of the Italian Police who sold out Coulson's mission to the Cybertek Inc. security team. He is later killed by Melinda May.[13]
Agent Shaw Charles Halford 107 - "The Hub" 2 A S.H.I.E.L.D. agent that works at the "Hub." In "Turn, Turn, Turn", Agent Shaw is among the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents working with Victoria Hand to find the Hydra infiltrators.
Sif Jaimie Alexander 115 – "Yes Men" 1 An Asgardian warrior and Thor's childhood friend, based on the mythological deity of the same name. Alexander reprises her role from Thor and Thor: The Dark World.[30]
