Notability?

Hey, Epicgenius - you're famous! [26] Congratulations on the recognition. You probably don't qualify for your own article quite yet, but you could add this template to your userpage if you want.... 0;-D --MelanieN (talk) 21:26, 27 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@MelanieN: Thanks for the link. I guess I'll look at it later, but right now I apparently have to research about Chinese drug trafficking. (Homework assignment.) epicgenius - (talk) 21:40, 27 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Well, you're at the right place. There's this thing called the Internet... --MelanieN (talk) 21:51, 27 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Ooh, I found it, Illegal drug trade in China. Yeah. Interesting. Sounds more like a background you'd see in a Model United Nations conference. But anyway... epicgenius - (talk) 21:57, 27 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Just remember the writer's golden rule: if you copy from one source, it's plagiarism. If you copy from several sources, it's research. 0;-D That's also the secret of success in mathematics. --MelanieN (talk) 22:18, 27 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah. Don't mention this to anybody, but I once "plagiarized" myself. Yes, that's a thing, and yes, I copied from myself (without official permission) by unofficially giving permission to myself. Weird, but things happen. epicgenius - (talk) 23:57, 27 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Your secret is safe with me. And the 163 people who watchlist your talk page. --MelanieN (talk) 01:33, 28 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Oh no... 163 people? What— Now I'm probably wiki-famous. epicgenius - (talk) 02:45, 28 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
You have 4.7 centijimbos. Not bad. --MelanieN (talk) 17:45, 28 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
How many is a jimbo, anyway? Wait, let me guess... 3,469? epicgenius - (talk) 18:22, 28 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

There's more coverage of you, Ryan (if I can call you that): [27] [28] They seem to be just rehashings of the Washington Post story, so they don't count as independent sources towards your notability. Still, congratulations! Everymorning (talk) 04:20, 29 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Everymorning: Oh no... Well, thanks anyway. epicgenius - (talk) 04:21, 29 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
(By the way, I meant "Oh no" as "Oh no, I'm famous!" You can call me Ryan, but I think going by my username would reduce confusion elsewhere on wiki.) epicgenius - (talk) 04:30, 29 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) you plagiarized someone on Wikipedia?! scandalous Jc86035 (talk) Use {{re|Jc86035}}

06:50, 29 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, no! I may need to undergo a CCI. Once they figure I plagiarized myself, I'll be indeffed! epicgenius - (talk) 12:58, 29 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Some baklava for you!

Thanks for speaking up in "The most challenging job of the 2016 race: Editing the candidates’ Wikipedia pages". Blue Rasberry (talk) 12:29, 28 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Bluerasberry: Thanks for the baklava! I really appreciate it. epicgenius - (talk) 12:31, 28 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

DYK review

Hello, I was wondering if you would be interested in doing a review for me for Template:Did you know nominations/Paul Nahaolelua for the TBD review for your nomination. Usually I don't ask other users to review my nominations but I'm interested in getting it ready before November in time for the main page on Election Day. Thanks! --KAVEBEAR (talk) 16:32, 28 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@KAVEBEAR: Sure. I guess I'll review it if someone isn't on this already. I don't know about co-reviews, but I think it's possible. epicgenius - (talk) 17:09, 28 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Just a minor nitpick: could you use the c*1 syntax for adding platform numbers instead of the [better source needed] icons (see {{Routemap}} documentation)? The num icons tend to be rendered badly at the RDT-size resolution. Jc86035 (talk) Use {{re|Jc86035}}

[reply]

Yeah, sure. Sorry, I didn't know about this c*number syntax. epicgenius - (talk) 14:38, 31 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It's fine – given that I basically made it up and stuck it into Module:Routemap two months ago without putting it in WP:RDT, I'd actually be a bit surprised if someone else were using it. (To clarify, parameters like align=l/r/t/b/combination can be added after __ for overlays and !_ for cells without overlays or at the end of a stack of overlays.) Jc86035 (talk) Use {{re|Jc86035}}

Question from reporter

Archiving, as it contains the reporter's personal information. epicgenius - (talk) 18:04, 31 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Ryan, I'm a reporter with NY Post. I'd love to have a quick chat about your work on Wikipedia. It's amazing that you've done so many edits, considering your age! Can you give me a call? Or shoot me an e-mail ? Thanks, Natalie O'Neill (Redacted) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Inkonthepad (talkcontribs) 15:38, 31 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Inkonthepad: Hi Natalie. I'll have to check my schedule, but I may be able to schedule a little time for a short e-mail chat. Regards, epicgenius - (talk) 15:40, 31 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

1000 challenge

Producing some great articles! Can I interest you in contributing to the new Wikipedia:WikiProject United States/The 50,000 Challenge? Will start a 1000 Challenge for New York if there is the interest. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:10, 1 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Dr. Blofeld: Sure. I'll be happy to participate in this. epicgenius - (talk) 12:26, 1 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

That's great. Would be good to get a contest running for the US in the new year. Something like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon would work for US and Canadian states/provinces.♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:29, 1 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Cool. Maybe I'll join it, if I have free time. epicgenius - (talk) 12:30, 1 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

S-line

@Sameboat: Is there really a need to have two Kwun Tong Line S-line rows for most of the stations in the middle of the Kwun Tong Line (Mong Kok/Yau Ma Tei to Kwun Tong)? Except Yau Ma Tei, all the adjacent stations are the same. Jc86035 (talk) Use {{re|Jc86035}}
to reply to me
09:32, 3 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Jc86035: I don't even thing Yau Ma Tei needs it either. The "former service" S-line entries as I see in most UK stations articles are only added when that former service was not simply extended to form another existing service but has a large pprtion of the alignment changed. In this case, It's acceptable to denote the Eastern Habour Tunnel realignment of Kwun Ting Line in the S-line templates in Lam Tin, Quarry Bay and North Point stations (c.f. Holborn tube station) but not the other stations. Modified Initial System is another story in which I am neutral whether we add the former service S-line entry or not. -- Sameboat - 同舟 (talk · contri.) 10:30, 3 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Sameboat and Jc86035: The reason I added these extra s-lines is because neither of the terminals are the same. The old line is from Yau Ma Tei to North Point. The new line is from Whampoa to Tiu Keng Leng, which is an almost completely different alignment at the east end and an extension of service at the west end (compared to the pre-2002 line). -- epicgenius - (talk) 13:53, 3 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Updated Timetables

The new W train timetable is up [29], and it explicitly mentions the trains to and from 86th Street. The new R train timetable is also up [30]. No Q yet. I don't know how to fix the NYCT CONST template.--Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 22:21, 3 November 2016 (UTC) They just literally updated the Q.[reply]

@Kew Gardens 613: I fixed it. Also, the N will be updated soon if it hasn't already, so I fixed that too. epicgenius - (talk) 00:06, 4 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know about the W timetable. It still lists the Q train as a possible transfer in 49th Street, and still shows the R train as only running part-time to Whitehall St. epicgenius - (talk) 00:08, 4 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

R train late nights

I am not going to undo everything you just did, but it starts on November 5.--Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 18:05, 4 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Oops. Well, then, I don't think we need to undo it, because we'll have to un-undo it within a day. If we make too many edits to the pages, it will overload the Wikipedia server. So I think we should leave it for now. epicgenius - (talk) 18:23, 4 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It is ok. We might as well do all of them now. I was about to change the List of the NYC Subway services page.--Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 20:01, 4 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I finished updating everything. All of the articles, except New York City Subway (and {{New York City Subway}}) have been updated, are or in the process of doing so. epicgenius - (talk) 20:17, 4 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
