You nearly went before but were implored to remain as a historical figure. There are many reasons to leave notwithstanding mindless edit wars instigated by those who should know better especially with regards to NPOV policies. You're not one of them.[[User:Ernstblumberg|Ernstblumberg]] ([[User talk:Ernstblumberg|talk]]) 16:26, 27 March 2017 (UTC)

Revision as of 16:26, 27 March 2017

OK, I've been trolled enough with this account now. I think it's time to move on. Can an adminstrator please delete all of my account pages. I've been thinking of doing this a while because I'm tired of the trolling from the likes of Singora and Collect but I feel like my identity is being threatened through fellow wiki editors threatening to contact writers of anti Wiki articles. I take real life threats to fuel further bad press about myself and wikipedia very seriously. Enough is enough.♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:41, 24 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@NeilN: delete all account pages, I'm out. Threats are becoming dangerous here.♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:42, 24 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Why don't you just request an account rename if you dont want to be the "Dr. Blofeld" who has been referred from several external websites. I should think it would throw many trolls off the scent. 103.6.159.74 (talk) 16:09, 24 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I have too many edits to change my account name and don't see the point in that anyway. I've changed, have different goals and outlook on wikipedia now, and I'm sick of people with old vendettas and trolls.♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:24, 24 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Your editing style is so distinctive that even if you make a new account without publicly identifying it with this one, u could still be easily recognised. 103.6.159.74 (talk) 10:30, 25 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

:-(

Sorry to see you leave and especially because you were haunted to it by fellow "contributors". I hope you reconsider your decision and start fresh avoiding the stalking and obsessive misbehaviours of others here. Wikipedia is large enough to not meddle with others so much. All the best, Dr. Blofeld. Tisquesusa (talk) 15:08, 24 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please e-mail me (thru my user page) if there is anything I can do to help. Whatever you do, please keep contributing. Best wishes. Smallbones(smalltalk) 15:58, 24 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You've got my unreserved support for any ways you'd like to contribute in the future. — JFG talk 18:36, 24 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
You were the one who gave me autopatrolled status years back. You've always been ready with a Thanks. Always striving to improve Wikipedia coverage. You are one of Wikipedia's all-time greats. It would be an enormous loss if you left. I hope you will somehow stay. Declangi (talk) 21:08, 24 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Topic ban

Ernst, the ANI post was a violation of your topic ban and I have taken the rather unusual step of simply removing the entire thread. Saying "he who shall not be named" doesn't mean you didn't point at him, and you were topic-banned from discussing the very topic. GB fan, you accepted the unblock request (on this version of Ernst's talk page); correct me if I'm wrong. Drmies (talk) 16:51, 24 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • I've quit here Drmies. Singora knows exactly what he's doing by bringing it up. How can I not defend myself against what he's claimed? That's a bit unfair don't you think? I'm responding to what I see as a serious real life threat, so anything I may have otherwise promised pales into significance. My last post here, if I'm blocked as a result of this and Singora gets off scott free then that will be the icing on the cake, Goodbye.♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:01, 24 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Goodbye

I'd hate to see you leave, Dr. Blofeld. You've made countless valuable contributions and will be missed. Hopefully things change for the better soon. Best regards, Snuggums (talk / edits) 20:15, 24 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I'd hate to think of you leaving, Dr. Blofeld. You've made countless valuable contributions and you would be missed. Things can change, and hopefully they will. Best regards. Martinevans123 (talk) 20:42, 24 March 2017 (UTC) ... anyone would think you were the Wikipedia Bogey Man: [1] [reply]

Me too

Hate to see you go. You've done a tremendous lot for this place, both alone and in collaboration. It's especially awful that your leaving would be prompted by harassment. I'm going to hope you do indeed resurface under a new name. Yngvadottir (talk) 21:01, 24 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please reconsider leaving, but if you must go...

Hi Dr. Blofeld. We haven't interacted a lot but I have seen you around and your reputation as an editor is top notch. I hope you will take some time to think about this. But that said, if you are resolved to go my suggestion is to blank any user pages other than maybe your main one and post a CSD G7 request on them. I'd leave your main user page up and just post the RETIRED template. Please remember that you can always come back and anything deleted can be brought back on request. Best regards... -Ad Orientem (talk) 21:07, 24 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hell and damnation

I'm sorry that it has come to this. You've done a hell of a lot to improve this place; you were the person who showed me what it had the potential to become, way back when, and there was a lot I did in those galley years that I modeled on your work. I still think that you and I share many of the same values, and I hope that it can someday become the kind of encyclopedia that you and I think it has the potential to be. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 21:33, 24 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

No!!!

So gutted to see you take this decision to leave. But if you wish to take a long wikibreak, no one deserves it more. Please do reconsider your decision to leave (if it is that) and come back. The website will definitely be a lot lot lot lot lot less bright without you.  — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 07:51, 25 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Since i too am going to do the same sooner or later, i don't think i am supposed to judge such actions. I wish you the best wherever you are, in solace with yourself and the guitar too. Goodbye! PS: Ssven2, your wit to post a video here too makes me amused enough of your creativity. Pavanjandhyala 14:54, 25 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

What

What kind of world do we live in when there won't be any more edits from user:Dr. Blofeld because of off-wiki real life threats? For everyone involved in the troubles which led to this decision, shame on you. --Rosiestep (talk) 19:26, 25 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

My support

We never worked together much on articles, if at all, but your worth to the project is unquestioned. I sympathize with your serious concern, and I hope that, not only can you return to editing, but can feel secure doing it. Best of luck to you.TheGracefulSlick (talk) 20:32, 25 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

:-(

May I belatedly join in the chorus of people who hope you will return. I can't remember how many GAs we've worked on together, but the slog through Claudia Cardinale was one of the more pleasant ones, if I recall. Don't be a stranger. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 12:03, 26 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

come on

You are respected and appreciated here, your contributions are awesome, also, from my position, you are a neutral editor which I respect soooo much. Thank you so very much Blofeld. Welcome back - Govindaharihari (talk) 15:58, 26 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you

Thank you for everything you have done to improve Wikipedia. I have always found you to be encouraging and kind. Your commitment to improving coverage of women in particular has inspired me. As much as I selfishly would like to see you stay, I understand that you have to do what is best for you. I hope you are able to return here someday. Take care. Knope7 (talk) 16:25, 26 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

trolled? when? where? how?

You make a specific attack about me. All I ask is that you show any such "trolling" by me directed at you. Thank you. [2] shows what appears to be, if anything, your deliberate post to "shame" me, which is rather the inverse of me trolling you. Collect (talk) 18:03, 26 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

See you back here

I think you and I at least once had a big row over something. Did we? I don't much care.

How were you so resilient? I mean, I've just now, for the first time, looked at the GAR for "Cary Grant". It reminds me of why I'm never tempted to aspire to either a GA or an FA. I lacked the stamina to read all of it; of what I did read, my favourite comment is that on

his last film of the year was the romantic comedy The Philadelphia Story, where he played the ex-husband of Hepburn's character

viz

A film isn't a place, so 'where' isn't appropriate.

To which I first muttered "WTF?" but quickly remembered: Wikipedia editors know better than do mere writers of books; "The Yorkshire Tragedy, a play erroneously ascribed to Shakspeare, where a Baker ... throws his wife down stairs" (Scott, Kenilworth, 1831); "To be in loue; where scorne is bought with grones" (Two Gentlemen of Verona, i.i.29); etc etc -- this may be acceptable in the vulgar language of the past and present, but WP aims for a language cleansed of anything that [however fictionally] is held to be a solecism.

Looking forward to seeing you back here. -- Hoary (talk) 06:59, 27 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
