would you need this?

Within {{Episode list}}, there is an item |EpisodeNumber2=, that can display 13 and 1 in a table column. Like at this page, but on this edit. I didn't had my glasses on and I thought it gave an edit error? But the ip added it back. Then to me, is it optional to have it there? If it does not have any special episode airings? "Where X tv show shown episode 15 on one day. Then the next time it airs, has 15.5?" And it was a re-cap or re-run. Like this; example, at the "13.5 and 0?" Tainted-wingsz (talk) 00:52, 22 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The first episode number is the overall number within the series as a whole, while the second is the number within the particular season. So, if a series first ran in 2017 for 13 episodes the numbers in both columns would be the same. For the return of the series in 2018 the first column would start at 14 while the second would go back to 1. This would indicate that the first episode of the second season was the 14th episode overall. --Khajidha (talk) 01:16, 22 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The 13.5 and 0 are a special notation used for recaps that bring viewers back up to speed on what happened in the previous season. --Khajidha (talk) 01:19, 22 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I can understand that. But if the current tv show does not have those special word set or numbering. I was using the model at this page; List of Bleach episodes, where it doesn't use said item. And it ran without stopping. Then I don't know, if to just leave it alone or take it out. As you may look your doing an edit warring. Tainted-wingsz (talk) 01:34, 22 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
If the page for the show in question does not have per season episode numbers, they can be added by anyone. If they are then removed, it should be discussed on the talk page of that page. There is no requirement that they be there, but I can't see why someone would remove them if they were put there. --Khajidha (talk) 11:52, 22 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Oculus Go hack

Is it true there's a volume button hack? Does it work at all?75.91.94.78 (talk) 22:19, 22 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A search for your query finds YouTube videos demonstrating the "Volume Up + Volume Down hack", note however: "if you alter Oculus Go software. the one year warranty will be voided."
Oculus Support (perhaps) has a solution:

Turn off your Oculus Go. Hold the power and volume (-) button on your headset down simultaneously until the boot screen loads on your headset. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Factory Reset and press the power button. Use the volume buttons on your headset to higlight Yes and press the power button.

Cultural Classics

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classic#Cultural_classics

Hello wikipedia reference desk, I was told by an email that I'd get some good help here with my question I just have one. My question is this in classic article cultural classics section there is a sentence that puzzles me as to what it means. A contemporary work may be hailed as an instant classic, but the criteria for classic status tends to include the test of time. Is this saying that contemporary works are instant classics or exactly what is it saying? Is it saying in order to get a classic it can't be contemporary?

I agree it's poorly written (including the wrong use of "contemporary" for "modern"). I think it's saying that a modern work may be termed a "classic", but [this is seen by many as incorrect and] the criteria for classic status tends to include the test of time.--Shantavira|feed me 09:56, 24 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The term "instant classic" falls into another realm of culture called "Hype. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots12:05, 24 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
This question sounds awfully familiar. Ah, this and this are why. Man, that article really needs help! Well, maybe some of the answers there will help. As for the question about categories, see Wikipedia:Categorization. Matt Deres (talk) 13:25, 24 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The questioner here, and in the previous questions, all seem to be labouring under the same misunderstanding. They all seem to think that the term "classic" is somehow regulated or maintained by an impartial group who vet these things and officially decree whether such-and-such is a classic or modern classic or instant classic or whatever. Nothing could be further than the truth. A reviewer, or more likely in these cases, the publicist, is completely free to say stuff like that whenever they wish. If you want to write a book saying that there are only three classic films: Citizen Kane, The Seven Samurai, and Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles you're completely free to do so. It's an opinion, so we could argue over it, but it still remains your opinion. Matt Deres (talk) 13:14, 25 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It makes a lot of sense what your saying but I'm trying to look at evidence a classic is often things that are old and valued today and when they say old and then they're saying contemporary works may be hailed as an instant classic. My question is when they say old and when they are saying contemporary works may be hailed as an instant classic. Can it not be contemporary?

Again, read the Hype article. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots13:47, 26 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Unknown Film

I once watched a film that appeared on TV about a little boy who, during a trip with his parents to Australia, is accidentally abandoned and forced to fend for himself. He chances upon a man who teaches him how to survive before the same man dies. Does anyone know what this film is called? déhanchements (talk) 22:11, 24 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Walkabout? A brother and sister are stranded in the desert after their father commits suicide. They survive with the help of an Aboriginal boy. Rojomoke (talk) 00:36, 25 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
That was not about parents who were visiting Australia, nor was it about a child being accidentally abandoned. A boy and his elder sister were involved, and the father, a local Australian, suicided and deliberately abandoned his children. But yes, that was the film that came to my mind when I saw the question. I can't think of another that exactly fits the question. -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 17:04, 25 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Is Sophie B. Hawkins Harriet Owen ?

That's quite enough. --Jayron32 12:45, 26 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The following discussion has been closed. Please do not modify it.

Hello Sophie B. Hawkins is indeed the same person as Harriet Owen proof:

  • Both Owen and Hawkins were born on the exact same day
  • Both Owen and Hawkins have the exact same voice
  • Both Owen and Hawkins are masters at accent impersonation
  • Both Owen and Hawkins have children named Dashiell and Esther (born in the same years)

What proof does Wikipedia have that these are two different people? If it was just the November 1, 1964 birth date then I'd give it a pass, but it's more than just that. Oh did I mention that Harriet Owen was born in Manhattan? I cannot find proof that Harriet's a different person, or at least, not the Harriet Owen from this movie I mean it's just a stretch to say that it's just coincidence. I have tried so hard to find something taking these two appart, but appart from a totally unrelated person named Harriet Owen that lives in North Brewham that has never been in a Disney movie, I can't find any proofs that Harriet Owen from the Pete rPan sequal is not Hawkins. Again, both born on november 1 of 1964, both having the same voice, both having children of the same names born in the same years. It leaves one asking, what's going on? I mean, Damn, somebody must be way out there, and either there is or is not proof that I am dead wrong. So I guess in this rambling zig-zaggy post, I'm asking, Where's the Proof? 199.101.61.34 (talk) 17:32, 25 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You're engaging in a significant quantity of WP:OR. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots21:12, 25 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
None of your statements about Harriet Owen are backed up with sourced info in her article so it is hard to understand where your comparisons are coming from. MarnetteD|Talk 21:30, 25 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The fact that they're the same age means nothing. Thousands of people are born every day. You're totally engaging in personal speculation, i.e. original research. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots00:20, 26 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
[Edit Conflict with Bugs above] Sophie B. Hawkins was, according to the OP and her own article, born November 1, 1964 and is aged 54.
According to Harriet Owen's own article, "As a teenager, she voiced the part of Wendy's daughter Jane in the (February-released) 2002 Disney animated film Return to Never Land [in which she also voiced young Wendy]. If a teenager in 2001 (when she would have recorded the part), she cannot be older than 2019 – 2001 + 19 = 37.
I also would like to know where the OP claims to be finding these biographical details for Owen; they're not in her IMDb entry, for example (and would not be reliable if they were, since it's a user-generated site). {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 90.200.138.194 (talk) 00:11, 26 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The OP claims to be blind and a Yemeni, although the IP geolocates to Canada. In any case, the OP fancies himself an expert in the sounds of voices, which is fine for himself, but it's not suitable as a citation in Wikipedia. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots00:38, 26 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Please note that I did a Google search on Harriet Owen birth and I got 1993, not 1964, as her birth date. Georgia guy (talk) 01:23, 26 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The Harriet Owen born in 1993 is a different person. Also to our little wabbit friend here, being born on two different continents didn't stop a bunch of wankers from saying that Annice Moriarty and Kether Donohue are the same person. Look on a bunch of anime fansites. They are only just starting to take that stuff off. The Peter Pan voice actress was born on november 1 1964 and I never said I lived in Yemen I said I am originally form Yemen, so therefore you might want to review things before your massive exposé on the guy who refuses to read long-winded wiki policies. So if we get to have Wikipedia for the longest time equating Annice Moariarty to being the same person as Kether Donohue, despite them being not only born on different continents but opposite sides of the equator too, then why not draw the parallel between Hawkins and Owen? I used the same sandards of proof that those people used for Annice Moariarty vs. Kether Donohue. Harriet Owen is a pseudonym of Sophie B. Hawkins. The Harriet Owen from 1993 did not voice anybody in Peter Pan she's way too young and the wrong individual. Hey, just using the same sandards that the people making the claim about Kether Donohue used. Why is it good for them but bad for me? In th emean time, don't tell me to stop 199.101.61.34 (talk) 06:40, 26 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You have not presented a shred of proof for your assertion that they are the same person. Between your poor command of English and you iffy typing skills WP:CIR is on full display. BTW ref desks are not a place for debate and that is what you have decided to do with both threads that you have opened. If this kind of behavior continues it can be seen as trolling which can lead to a topic ban and removal of future threads. MarnetteD|Talk 06:49, 26 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Quit linking these wiki policies. Unless they are goung to have a nutshell section added to them, nobody's going to read them. The kim esty thing above is a genuine concern. Also if you read the post about Sophie Harriet Owen B. Hawkins then you would know that I asked for proof of the existance of this totally parallel person. I said I looked all over, and yes I did see the 1993 year, not believable. I'm trying to find where to find this different individual and you are being unhelpful much like a lot of our red, white and blue friends that can't, as Cindy Mizelle says, read between the lines 199.101.61.34 (talk) 07:03, 26 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Once last time you have provided no evidence of an alternate HO. Until you do there is nothing wrong with the articles as they stand. I suggest that this thread be a) ignored or b) closed. MarnetteD|Talk 07:10, 26 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Once again my American friend, make like Cindy Mizelle and read Between the Lions, because I'm trying to ask where I can find this individual. Hence why I asked before, Where's the beef? Tell me where to go and I'll go there, If you were British then you'd probably know more about this woman if she exists, I never heard anything during my time in the UK, and I lived near wher Owen supposedly lives for 9 years after I first went to the UK. I want to find sources, I need a link, I want to find out more. As some Swedish friends of mine say, gimme gimme gimme Sorry that I'm not willing to ask where to find it in a boring manner like Richard would, but I'm asking where can I find something that shows me that I am wrong? 199.101.61.34 (talk) 07:18, 26 March 2019 (UTC) I want to see some pages about Harriet Owen, not some long-winded wiki policy. 199.101.61.34 (talk) 07:37, 26 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I'm closing this down. The limits of good faith have been reached with the person who started this thread, and earlier ones like it. Please stop. Wikipedia is a serious venture, and we aren't here to play these little games you want to play. Instead, take it to some other website. We'll have no more of your silliness here. verifying voice actor pseudonyms

Ignoring that this editor is almost definitely a sock of User:Comet Egypt, they are making the ridiculous assertion that someone else who is blind used the same IP just a few days ago to make silly arguments about whether someone was Canadian based on their accent and how bad Americans are. Nil Einne (talk) 05:16, 28 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The following discussion has been closed. Please do not modify it.

What are Wikipedia's standards in terms of verifying pseudonyms of voice actors? fore example, while indeed references to Annice Moriarty are removed on Kether Donohue, several rolls linked to Moriarty are still present on Donohue's page. What types of sources should I use to help remove the rolls from the Kether Dnohue page that are listed under Annice Moriarty on other websites? I know IMDB id somewhat questionable. thanks 199.101.61.34 (talk) 13:14, 26 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Generally, the standard at Wikipedia is shown at Wikipedia:Reliable sources which discusses ways in which reliable sources are identified in general. The best thing is to find a good, general purpose reliable source, like something published in or broadcast by a major, well-respected news organization (the BBC, the New York Times, that sort of thing) where the fact you want to include is there. Reliable sources are those with a reputation for fact checking and editorial control, and consistent effort to publish true things. IMDB is a problem because much of it is unsourced user commentary and user additions. Literally, anyone on IMDB can just change anything, and because of that it is generally not a great source. If there's any other questions you have, please let us know. If you have a specific question about a specific source, Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard is a good place to ask it. --Jayron32 13:21, 26 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ok thank you, I plan on removing some items from Kether Donohue, the rolls that are listed under Annice Moriarty on several TV shows. I really don't want edit wars. thanks friend. 199.101.61.34 (talk) 13:24, 26 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

They are not based on oppinions. and don't close discussions just like that. They are based on a lack of sources linking the two, something I believe you guys have gone after me for above. again, don't close because you don't understand. 199.101.61.34 (talk) 14:07, 26 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

What changes are you intending to make to that article? ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots14:09, 26 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I guess where I am coming from is an agreement of the above statements about IMDB, which appears to be the source that other websites use to link Annice Moriarty to Kether Donohue. I wish to remove some of the rolls from Kether Donohue that are actually credited to Annice Moriarty until somebody can find a reliable source stating that Donohue did the rolls and not Moriarty. That is where I am coming from this time around. 199.101.61.34 (talk) 14:12, 26 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Just give me amoment and I will list them below, to help explain. 199.101.61.34 (talk) 14:14, 26 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The following credits are credit to Annice Moriarty:

  • Skuld from Ah My Goddess
  • Candice
  • Chomp on Dinosaur King
  • Angela Rains from Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's

Now this isn’t to say that Donohue didn’t appear in any of those shows, in Kappa Mikey, a google books result I sourced links her to the roll of Ethel, not Lily, which again is an Annice Moriarty roll. Hope this helps. Thanks. 199.101.61.34 (talk) 14:32, 26 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Also the source I get for Donohue voicing Ethel on KM is The Encyclopedia of American Animated Television page 332, which is viewable on google books. 199.101.61.34 (talk) 14:34, 26 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Have you checked the actual movie credits? ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots16:16, 26 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Pokemon I know is Annice Moriarty because years ago somebody looked at the credits for me. how am I suppose dto see all credits if I am blind? same reason why I can't use the captcha systemto do inline citation.

199.101.61.34 (talk) 16:53, 26 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Then recruit someone to read the credits for you. Or maybe there's a version with closed-captioning which includes the credits? (Though I wouldn't bet on it.) ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots18:12, 26 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I know the Pokemon one for sure because the credits were read to me years ago, for the roll of Candice going to Annice Moriarty not Kether Donohue. She appears multiple times in the 12th season so it's not just one episode, and all of them were the same voice, Annice Moriarty (according to the credits) 199.101.61.34 (talk) 09:12, 27 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Apart from all the Wikipedia arguments, are AM and KD two people or one person with a pseudonym? AM redirects to KD. The top few google searches for AM seem to say AM is a pseudonym for KD. Confused. -- SGBailey (talk) 17:15, 27 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The links between Moriarty and Donohue are simply voices. Nothing exists online that verifies that Moriarty is a pesudonym of Donohue's. This is leaving asside the flack Donohue, a Cuacasian woman would get for appropriating the African name of Annice. (which is pronounced as Ann-ni-say) I wish I could find you guys the baby book that we found that in. Either way I looked hard, in a lot of the time I had off from my trips, and could not find anything that links Moriarty to Donohue other than they have been in some of the same shows, and they have similar voices. You know how above I basically parodied this with the Harriet Owen thing? My basis of their voies being so much alike is the exact same basis (by the looks of it) that linked Donohue to Moriarty. Also I'm sure that Donohue would be aware of this, given the culturally sensitive times we are in, and given that she is from New York city, but do you really think if she dared use the name Annice, that the African-American community wouldn't go after her for appropriating that name? Now true, my basis of the origins of Annice are an old baby book I found and the fact that Annice Moriarty went to a few gaming convensions years ago (not as a special guest but as a guest). As for how I deduced Donohue's race, I thkn my sighted friends back in the UK for that. There' smore than just voice that needs to be factored in. It is would Donohue get black for using an African name? What official source links Donohue to Moriarty? I understand Wikipedia can only go by the official source tha tlinks the two, and I'm simply saying where is this source, because a lot of these anime sites use IMDB as their proof, but IMDB is unreliable. I can get Harriet to create a page for me, and say that I used the pseudonym of Andrew Nichols for acting in a movie, when in reality I didn't. Fabricating things on IMDB is really easy, because they mass-aprove things due to volume.

So until an official source can be found to link Donohue to Moriarty, we have to assume they are different people. That is illiminating the racial issues of a Caucasian using an African name like Annice. (moriarty's not African but Annice is). I brought that up because remember, multiple factors come into play here, with the main one being lack of sources appart from IMDB That appears to be the trunk of the tree, and a bad trunk. So until either I or somebody else can find an official reliable non-IMDB source that says Kether Donohue used the name Annice Moriarty, we must assume that Kether Donohue and Annice Moriarty are two different people who just happen to have similar voices. If I am supposed to assume that Harriet Owen and Sophie B. Hawkins are two different people even though their voices are similar enough, then why not do the same? What if what I saw on a page is correct (granted it is a wiki) that Annice Moriarty was born in SOutheastern Africa and moved to NY as a kid? We don't know, we just assumed that her and Kether Donohue were the same person due to voice, and because IMDB said it sites saw it as the truth, i guess? 199.101.61.34 (talk) 20:53, 27 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I think we have established that IMDB is way more reliable than you are. 2600:8800:1880:FC:5604:A6FF:FE38:4B26 (talk) 21:06, 27 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia can't use IMDB for pseudonym verification no more than it can use my anecdotes. Wikipedia can't use IMDB to say Annice Moriarty was used by Kether Donohue, it can say that Annice Moriarty was in this show under thsi roll, not that Annice Moriarty is really Kether Donohue. What's next, is youtube a reliable source? I never said my anecdotes are reliable, far from it. I am saying that IMDB is not reliable enough for that type of info. 199.101.61.34 (talk) 22:03, 27 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It's worth mentioning that this has happened with 4kids voice actors before, where two voice actors were previously believed to be one, Matthew Charles and Christopher Kromer. For a bit it was thought that one was a pseudonym of the other until something happened. also Another example is ow it turned out that Allyson Johnson (Agatha in Pokemon) and Kathleen Delaney (Rouge the Bat from Sonic 4kids era) turned out not to be Caren Lyn Tackett like was previously believed? I'm not sure how those got disproven but they did. Guess who listed Caren Lyn Tackett in those rolls that she turned out not to have done? It was IMDB. Only after the reveal that they aren't the same people did IMDB change it. wow, how strange. That is why I question the Annice Moriarty Kether Donohue thing. 199.101.61.34 (talk) 22:22, 27 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I can see a similar range with a lot of them being the 199 range, but did you mess u pwith this 23 IP address? I mean yeah, only thing that guy appears to have in common with me is the blindness factor. As for the 199 guy, he's just anti American. I'll talk with Americans I'll do what not with them, but I can't speak to that guy. So please on my talkpage, I will get a section ready for this, explain where this is coming from. there you can do a huge exposé of sourts on me, and bring me in as som sort of troll, i guess? alright. 199.101.61.34 (talk) 01:31, 28 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I request this discussion be closed on the grounds of it not being the place for a massive exposé theory on my supposed past actions, even though I have no idea about said past actions from these other I pusers. Again we do have some things in common b(23 and I are blind, and i guess the 199 ones don't like Americans though I don't know what their reasoning is, they just appear anti-American). so can somebody please close it? thanks It's gotten way out of hand and is supposed to be how to verify pseudonyms of voice actors such as Kether Donohue whom nobody still has given me how they plan on verifying with Annice Moriarty 199.101.61.34 (talk) 02:25, 28 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If you have valid sourced info, you could do it yourself. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots16:54, 27 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

how would I source liner notes

Hello I found a few albums on Wikipedia that are missing some info that I plan on editing later today, but would like to know if I can cite album liner notes if they don't exist on sites like allmusic or amazon. I'm thinking of addind some credits like background vocals and guitars to albums such as albums like this and songs like this. Fore example, (thanks to a friend for reading this for me), Claudia Fontaine provided background vocals for the Maxi Priest song, whcih is tracks 1 and 15. Discogs says that the background vocals were only done by Brian And Tony Gold while my album liner notes lists Claudia Fontaine as well as Brian And Tony Gold. Is there a way to cite the album notes if one owns the album or do we have to go on sites like discogs or almusic for album credits. thanks 199.101.61.34 (talk) 09:12, 28 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

See WP:A/S. Short answer, Allmusic can be used but discogs can't, album notes can and should be cited using Template:Cite AV media notes but good luck to you understanding that last page as reading it gave me a headache. Best thing is to find an album article that is well cited, copy the basic template to the article you're working on and fill in the details from your album notes. --Viennese Waltz 09:28, 28 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Ok thank you. Yes the last page is hectic, what with people accusing me of being who I am not and all. Why does the Wikipedia environment have to be so damn hostile? Anyway, thanks for your help, you are awesome. 199.101.61.34 (talk) 09:58, 28 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

College basketball

Have there been any college basketball players at the NCAA Division I level that have transferred from, then back to, a basketball program? 147.126.10.74 (talk) 02:50, 29 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think that's even normally possible; under NCAA transfer rules, an athlete who transfers between programs generally loses a year of eligibility in the transfer. If they played as a freshman at university A, and transferred to university B, they would have to wait until they were a junior to play at university B. If they then transferred again, they would lose a second year of eligibility (their senior year), and now can't play anymore. There are exemptions built into the transfer rule, so there may be some quirks that make it possible, but it would be difficult under the standard rules to do so. Under the basic transfer regulations, you must spend an academic year in residence at the school to which you are transferring. If you transfer from a four-year college to an NCAA school, you must complete one academic year in residence at the new school before you can play for or receive travel expenses from the new school, unless you qualify for a transfer exception or waiver. --Jayron32 10:59, 29 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

"Oh, oh, oh ..."

There's a song on a drug commercial: "Oh, oh, oh Ozempic" -- the tune is very familiar, from 70s (I believe). I can't place the song, and its driving me nuts. Anybody? —2606:A000:1126:28D:84A8:1E5E:5535:59A2 (talk) 14:49, 29 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
