This is an old revision of this page, as edited by 66.27.94.61 (talk) at 00:17, 5 April 2021 (The section about her time at Ohio State is terrible. It should be about what she accomplished during her time there, not about how many fans went to one single game.). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

Spelling of name

To the best of my knowledge, her last name is spelled VanDerveer, with a capitalized D in the middle. See http://gostanford.cstv.com/sports/w-baskbl/mtt/vanderveer_tara00.html (on the Stanford University athletics web site). Richwales 07:32, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject class rating

This article was automatically assessed because at least one WikiProject had rated the article as stub, and the rating on other projects was brought up to Stub class. BetacommandBot 08:20, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is it really true that ...

... before Sphilbrick got to work, this article on a coach of the stature of VanDerveer was the next thing to a stub?? And now, the DYK aside, it's GA-level at least? Very well done. Ravenswing 01:57, 15 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I hadn't seen your comment, just the article via DYK, where it struck me that this wasn't a Stub article. I may very well be C or even B, perhaps GAC. I didn't look into it in any more detail than to determine that it was definitely higher than Stub-Class. -- Nczempin (talk) 06:36, 15 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

1981-82 season

The 1981-82 season is listed in the info box as a Big Ten Championship. This seemed to conflict with the media guide which referred to 1982-83 as the first year of the Big ten (for women). I wrote to someone at the Big Ten, who confirmed "The 1981-82 season is a Big Ten Championship for Ohio State, which will also be reflected in our 2012-13 media guide." I'll add a ref when it comes out, and update the coaching box then. I won't bother changing the info box, just to change it back.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 13:44, 31 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The Media guide has been released, and it now reflects the 1981–82 results. I updated the coaching box, as noted, the info box does not need changing.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 16:08, 9 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Victory totals

The infobox, the inline text, and the tables all have completely different numbers for her total number of career coaching wins. I can't, for the life of me, figure out what's accurate, since things are all over the place. Given that Geno Auriemma has a shot at tying Pat Summitt on the win list on Thursday, it'd be ideal if that can be straightened out before then. The information is available in easily found reliable resources if it is important to you. --John (User:Jwy/talk) 03:08, 6 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah... and if it was that simple, I'd have just fixed it myself. But I'm getting contradictory information from said sources. It looks really strange to have two different numbers in the infobox and the table in the article, and I don't know college sports well enough to get into the weeds of which one is correct (win totals can get weirdly complicated, with e.g. teams retroactively forfeiting wins due to misconduct, teams changing division and conference). So I figured someone who knew this better than me could take a look so we can get it right in the article too; I don't know how it'd be possible for her to simultaneously have 1,088 and 1,103 wins. Keeping the details stats up to date on a wiki page for an active sportsperson is a lot of work. It's probably better to get it from the news sites or espn.com. But we should keep the page up to date. And even your news above is out-of-date. Thursday's game has been cancelled. --John (User:Jwy/talk) 07:27, 6 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, that'll have to wait until Saturday. If I can't figure this out I'm sure some WikiProject will be able to take another look. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 12:57, 6 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
