Capitalising "the"

@TaerkastUA:: It doesn't matter whether sources capitalise the/The. (In reality, some do and some don't.) We have a policy for this, MOS:NICKNAMETHE, which says: A leading "the" is not capitalized in a nickname, pseudonym, or other alias.

We just had a big RfC about an identical debate at The Weeknd because an editor refused to accept the policy. It ended with 10 to 1 in favour of lowercase. It would be great if we could just skip doing that here. If you disagree with the policy, that's fair, but you need to go and start a discussion about the policy instead of arguing on this page. Popcornfud (talk) 10:56, 3 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A lowercase "the" is absurd in this context, where the subject is so widely and apparently The Rock. InedibleHulk (talk) 00:00, 5 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
InedibleHulk, it isn't though. The Guardian uses lowercase, so does Rolling Stone, so does the New York Times. And on top of MOS:NICKNAMETHE, we have another relevant policy, WP:MOSCAPS, which says to uppercase "the" only when "virtually all reliable sources consistently" capitalise it, and they don't in this case.
As with the Beatles etc, it just comes down to the style guide/preference of the source. Wikipedia style guidance is not to capitalise "the Rock", sorry. Popcornfud (talk) 00:45, 5 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The Guardian and Rolling Stone use "The", too. Can't paste, but check out the Related and Topic links on your pages. How do we know your examples aren't typos? InedibleHulk (talk) 00:58, 5 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
You're grasping at straws. Please just read MOS:NICKNAMETHE if you haven't already. Popcornfud (talk) 01:05, 5 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I'm viewing this in context, and context gives good reason to respectfully ignore that rule. We have precedent coming out of our ears for wrestlers. The Animal, The Ugandan Giant, The Anvil, The Hammer, The Barber, The Butcher, The Disciple. You're making Mr. Johnson look weird in comparison. InedibleHulk (talk) 01:15, 5 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
All those wrestler names should be lowercase too. Popcornfud (talk) 01:22, 5 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Well, they aren't. InedibleHulk (talk) 01:24, 5 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Aren't where? On Wikipedia? So what? That just means someone hasn't fixed them yet to bring them in line with the Wikipedia MoS. WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS.
Perhaps you mean they're not lowercase in reliable sources? Putting your names into a random selection of the usual sources that do not capitalise The in names finds lowercase examples for all of them. Popcornfud (talk) 01:27, 5 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
On Wikipedia, for years, in the style of "The Model" Rick Martel. Your idea of fixing is fringe in this topic area, latecomer. But if you want a revolution, you should start at Wikiproject level, no arbitrary wrestler's TP. InedibleHulk (talk) 01:38, 5 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
No idea what any of that means, sorry. Popcornfud (talk) 01:40, 5 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
If you want wrestlers to use your prefered style, get consensus at Wikiproject Professional Wrestling, don't go piecemeal at one or two talk pages (TP), creates inconsistency. InedibleHulk (talk) 01:44, 5 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I've called a meeting at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Professional wrestling#Nickname style debate, if anyone's interested. InedibleHulk (talk) 22:17, 5 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This is quite possibly the stupidest policy I've seen yet. GhostOfDanGurney (talk) 14:51, 4 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Party Affiliation

Can this part of the article just be removed? It doesn't even seem relevant for an actor's page, and it's confusing. Independent (2017-present) and Republican just (formerly)? And I don't even know how accurate him being formerly registered as a Republican is. I know there's been rumors of him running for office but that's not enough to warrant needing it.

RFC about nationality

Should he be referred to as American or American-Canadian in the lead? JDDJS (talk to mesee what I've done) 16:57, 14 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Citizenship and nationality are both legal statuses. It is not for people to judge whether they perceive him as being one or more. The laws specifically recognize him as both, and it is for that reason, that both must be reflected in the lead. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.82.241.139 (talk) 21:44, 22 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Change

Dwayne johnson net worth is 320 million dollars Xciuutiyruiug (talk) 04:41, 9 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Xciuutiyruiug: Do you have verification from a reliable source for this? Peaceray (talk) 05:24, 9 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

His net worth has two years in brackets which makes it confusing. Also you should delete that section. No other actors "net worth" is displayed on their wiki page. It's tacky. 92.232.158.131 (talk) 18:57, 11 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Question: Is there an alternative to net worth that is displayed somewhere in this article, that makes the 'net worth' unnecrssary, such as as warnings per year, with a reliable source? ― Qwerfjkl  (please use {{reply to|Qwerfjkl}} on reply)Template:Z181 20:57, 11 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Done I removed it, since the sourcing was absolutely horrible. Height

I haven’t changed the height yet but on a YouTube video he said his height was 6ft4? Willjones2020 (talk) 21:17, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Change "Johnson began dating Lauren Hashian, the daughter of Boston drummer Sib Hashian and his wife." to "Johnson began dating Lauren Hashian, the daughter of Boston drummer Sib Hashian."

Under "Personal Life." I know not everyone is born to married parents but that line just feels redundant and doesn't really add anything, especially considering "his wife" isn't notable person with her own page Perekcronal (talk) 04:37, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
