You are invited to join the Wikimedia NYC community for our monthly "WikiWednesday" evening salon (7-8pm) and knowledge-sharing workshop. This month, as part of Wikimedia NYC's commitment to the well-being of members, we will hold WikiWednesday online via Zoom videoconferencing! To join the meeting from your computer or smartphone, just visit this link. More information about how to connect is available on the meetup page.

We look forward to seeing local Wikimedians, but would also like to invite folks from the greater New York metropolitan area (and beyond!) who might not typically be able to join us in person!

This month, we'll check in on the global WikiCup race and have as featured speaker our local champion and frontrunner, who is trying to win it by writing as many new New York City articles as possible, as well as other local and global topics.

Is there a project you'd like to share? A question you'd like answered? A Wiki* skill you'd like to learn? Let us know by adding it to the agenda.

7:00pm - 8:00 pm online via Zoom (optional breakout rooms from 8:00-8:30)

We especially encourage folks to add your 3-minute lightning talks to our roster, and otherwise join in the "open space" experience! Newcomers are very welcome! Bring your friends and colleagues!

Louis DeJoy

"Thanks, but that's your subjective call. I took it off his wife's article. Perhaps it's in keeping with the idea that men should have less responsibility towards their kids than women?"

Umm, wut? I'm not sure if you are accusing me of sexism or Wikipedia generally. The policy is that non-notable's names are private unless relevant. "The presumption in favor of privacy is strong". It's not for me or anyone else to make the call that they aren't relevant, that is the assumption, so it's for you to make a strong case and achieve consensus that they are - and to do so before adding (or re-adding) the names. Rather than add their names to this article they should have been removed from the wife's. I have done that now.

Incidentally, I'd rather not go to war with you over mole hills, I appreciate your contributions to the article generally and have just addressed some minor points of contention in the wider interest. Please don't take it personally and knee-jerk revert if tweaks are needed? Keep up the good work! Cheers! Captainllama (talk) 10:00, 1 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Aggro. Get off my talk page.--A21sauce (talk) 10:46, 1 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Seriously? I was disappointed by your reverts and believed you to be mistaken but didn't wish to be thought argumentative so I came here to explain more fully and to say I actually appreciate the work you're doing - and you respond with this crap?? Jeez, get over yourself! Captainllama (talk) 18:58, 1 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on National Black Women's Reproductive Justice Agenda, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Themillofkeytone (talk) 21:28, 19 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I've listed this at Wikipedia:Copyright problems/2020 September 20 for investigation, as not all the text seems to be affected. Are there any other pages where you have copied non-free content from external sources? If so, please list them here so that they too can be cleaned up. This should take precedence over any other projects you may have. Thank you, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 10:09, 20 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on User:A21sauce/sandbox requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/os-xpm-1986-03-02-0200300260-story.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. Chiquet Mawet moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Chiquet Mawet, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. Ways to improve Chiquet Mawet

Hello, A21sauce,

Thank you for creating Chiquet Mawet.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

Page appears to be translated via google or similar directly from fr.wikipedia, as evidenced by references to images and reference numbers carried over. https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chiquet_Mawet

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|CoconutOctopus}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

Hello, I'm writing to make sure you are aware that the Nina Fallenbaum article has been nominated for deletion, because you have been a major contributor. Also, based on the sources I've added to the article, I'm thinking it would be appropriate to change the title of the article to Nina F. The article has cleared AfD, and I changed the article name! And then I was transported to a wikidata page to check... something? And when I tried to correct a field to add her current name, I wasn't logged in, and then somehow managed to lose the page forever. If you know how to fix the wikidata and/or could generally check that I managed make the change without creating a ruckus, that would be appreciated. Otherwise, ideas on where may be best to ask for help would be great. Thank you! Beccaynr (talk) 03:36, 16 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Pat Perry (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G14 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates only one extant Wikipedia page and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic);
  • disambiguates zero extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title; or
  • is an orphaned redirect with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" that does not target a disambiguation page or page that has a disambiguation-like function.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Reverted, dude, with explanation--A21sauce (talk) 19:32, 10 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Notice

The article Pat Perry (disambiguation) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

I tried to nominate for CSD G14, which it meets, but the author of the page removed it. This disambiguation page only links to one existent page.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. βӪᑸᙥӴTalkContribs 19:40, 10 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Recent Edits to Hispanic and Latino conservatism

Hi, I saw your somewhat recent changes to the Hispanic and Latino conservatism page and I noticed your changes were mostly centered around changing the word Latino to be ostensibly more inclusive by using either Latino/Latina, Latino and Latina, or Latinx. As far as I was aware Latino was an inclusive term of all genders. Since the article is titled Hispanic and Latino conservatism, and from what I could find Latino is the status quo for referring to people of Latin American origin who live in the U.S. I thought about reverting it to Latino. However, there might be something I'm missing and I want to get your input on it before I change anything. Thank you. Ericfood (talk) 22:39, 25 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks so much for your sensitivity on the matter. While I too rely on Merriam-Webster online for many things, in this instance, consider conservative New York Times columnist Ross Douthat's piece from a year and a half ago in which he writes "in our world, the phrase 'Latinx' is increasingly commonplace." Maybe we could leave it up to some editors of Latinx/Hispanic descent?--A21sauce (talk) 13:47, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the reply, I read the article and it considers how although the term Latinx is becoming more common, it isn't wholly accepted by Latinos. Later in the piece, Douthat quotes a poll “Despite its usage by academics and cultural influencers, 98 percent of Latinos prefer other terms to describe their ethnicity. Only 2 percent of our respondents said the label accurately describes them, making it the least popular ethnic label among Latinos.” I myself am Hispanic/Latino and prefer to be called Hispanic or Latino over Latinx, which is one of the reasons I didn't want to go back on your changes without inquiring you due to wariness of violating WP:NPOV. I also didn't want to create a conflict by immediately reverting since it's not a massive concern to me what specific words are used as long as they are accepted. I'm just more concerned with uniformity across the page and other Wikipedia pages that have to do with Hispanics/Latinos, and the readability of the page, currently Hispanic/Latino/Latina over just Hispanic/Latino or Latinx. In conclusion, I think it'd be best to revert the terms used in the article to just Hispanic/Latino. If you prefer, for the sake of uniformity I think it'd also be acceptable to change instances of Latino/Latina to Latinx. However, I do see it as a less accepted term. April 21, 7pm: ONLINE WikiWednesday Salon NYC with Environmental focus
Welcome to Wikimedia New York City!

You are invited to join the Wikimedia NYC community for our monthly "WikiWednesday" evening salon (7-8pm) and knowledge-sharing workshop. To join the meeting from your computer or smartphone, just visit this link. More information about how to connect is available on the meetup page.

We look forward to seeing local Wikimedians, but would also like to invite folks from the greater New York metropolitan area (and beyond!) who might not typically be able to join us in person!

As this WikiWednesday is just the day before Earth Day, we will have an environmental focus.

If there's a project you'd like to share or a question you'd like answered, just let us know by adding it to the agenda or the talk page.

7:00pm - 8:00 pm online via Zoom (optional breakout rooms from 8:00-8:30)

(You can subscribe/unsubscribe from future notifications for NYC-area events by adding or removing your name from this list.)

Nope. Did you even look at the sources? Amazed.--A21sauce (talk) 15:11, 2 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on TolumiDE requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/TolumiDE. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. I had zero chance to address this before it was deleted! Left reason on article talk page and contacting deleting editor!--A21sauce (talk) 12:56, 4 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm C.Fred. I noticed that you made a comment on the page Talk:Dianne Morales that didn't seem very civil, so it may have been removed. Wikipedia is built on collaboration, so it's one of our core principles to interact with one another in a polite and respectful manner. If you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Your accusations of misogyny toward other editors are unacceptable.C.Fred (talk) 20:57, 9 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 72 hours for edit warring. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  —C.Fred (talk) 21:06, 9 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

Blocking editor biased against 3RR reporter (me), and miscounted the number of times the second editor I tried to report reverted A21sauce (talk) 21:09, 9 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

You were blocked for edit warring; it is your actions that you need to address in an appeal. Your personal attack here was itself block-worthy and your unproven allegations that the blocking admin is somehow biased is just doubling down on the personal attacks. Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 21:15, 9 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. —C.Fred (talk) 21:14, 9 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, C.Fred, cuz you were clearly on my side all along!--A21sauce (talk) 21:24, 9 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Looking at Special:Diff/1027761368, your message and the appeal text above, this block no longer has an automatic expiration date. You probably don't consider this to be necessary, but I'm afraid that the only way for you to continue editing is to take the time to read WP:GAB, even if you did so in the past, and to prove that you understand the concerns that led to the block and its extension. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 21:52, 9 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Are you embarrassed that you're all men? No, I don't get it. The other two who were edit warring with me weren't punished at all, and they were men, deciding that Dianne's membership in something was trivial. How do you explain this, ~ ToBeFree and C.Fred? You know as well as I, ~ ToBeFree, that I am not "frei" as much as you are, so I don't understand why you're moaning about "Being free" because you already fricking are--A21sauce (talk) 04:12, 10 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
WP:NOTTHEM. Again, reading WP:GAB is recommendable. Talk page access may be revoked without further warning if you continue to make personal attacks. Attacking as many users as possible, perhaps with WP:INVOLVED in mind, won't work here; I won't hesitate to take further action if you continue the behavior that led to the uninvolved decision to block you. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 05:58, 10 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You are really going above and beyond ~ ToBeFree and not in a good way. It doesn't feel great, I imagine, to be called out on one's sexism, but not to see that this is a situation of four men against one person on a woman's article, you have your own blinders that you refuse to acknowledge that are super problematic as a Wikipedia editor.--A21sauce (talk) 14:16, 11 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
