Blocking

Hi there, just came over a user talk page I could not edit because it is blocked. I could not quite see it from your notes, could you please explain what the user did that was disruptive and why even his talk page had to be blocked? Thank you. Añoranza 14:56, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

I rudely neglected to thank you for you help with Mathematics Formulae, so thanks once again. About archiving one's talk page, I've seen one user erasing his talk page and simply providing a link to the old version (an oldid, before the erasing) - is this such a good idea? Of course, Wikipedia is not running out of space, but I get the feeling there might be some guideline or part of the licence which discourages this. Thanks for the dab info!

You are so right, I was confused! Thanks for clarifying the "(disambiguation) in the title issue" for me. In the case of something like Rap, which is the disambiguation page, of what use is the page titled Rap (disambiguation) that just redirects to Rap? Is that used for something? Does it get "moved" to Rap and then deleted, or is it just to be left as a redirect? Dreadlocke 03:22, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think I just answered my own question, the (disambiguation) title page is for linking in things like Wikipedia:Links_to_(disambiguation)_pages so there's no doubt that it's a disambig page, then it just redirects to the actual disambig page that's not titled disambiguation. Ok. I think I have it now.  :) Dreadlocke 03:25, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Admin assistance

A very minor request: Music Genre is, as expected, a redirect to Music genre; however, for some inscrutable reason, Talk:Music genre is a redirect to Talk:Music Genre. I can't move the talk page due to past edit history; can you please move it so that the Talk page goes with the corresponding article? Thanks! --Russ Blau (talk) 13:27, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

About the {helpme}

I didn't place the helpme you removed from my talkpage back there yesterday, that was another user who decided to unblank the talkpage and leave "you have new messages" for the IP even though I told him that my IP can change next time the router is reset. Is it really so that it's vandalism to remove the comments? They stay in history, right? Sorry for the inconvenience. 85.70.5.66 06:14, 8 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I was trying to make it consistant with category:requests for unblock, I actually created a new template for that same reason, you might want to also ckeck the history tab and the talkpage of {{editprotected}} to find out a bit more background information. Myrtone

Thanks for the clean up and the links for categories!!! Really appreciate it. Hope the winter in Australia is an easier one than the summer in the US! Thanks again. Tint 15:09, 18 July 2006 (UTC)Tint[reply]

Help desk (VFAQ)

Nice work, that was exactly what was needed in my opinion!

I still feel that the intro bit on the RD and HD pages is too long: if I were a new user, I wouldn't bother reading through the long list of guidelines and rules at the top of the page, to post a question. The question is, do you think we can streamline it without loosing the gist of what they need to know?

Again, great work!

Hi Commander Keane. Thanks for your message concerning the deletion of the article, Dennis Allen. Whilst in my opinion this character is indeed noteworthy, I don't have any references to hand at present, in particular several books concerning the topic. One good reference in particular is a biography on his mother, The Matriarch: The Kathy Pettingill Story. As I'm moving house at present, most of my reference material is packed away. I'll have to chase this one up at the other end of my travels and leave it be for now unfortunately. I recently deleted my watchlist (which was growing fast and had reached almost 2000 articles), and missed this deletion. Thanks for your vigilance.. -- Longhair 23:57, 24 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ah yes, I see the issue now. Thanks for your references. It appears the admin who deleted the page did so on the basis the prod notice wasn't removed and perhaps some of the information wasn't cited. I guess it's a case for deletion review. -- Longhair 09:09, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've created a listing at WP:DRV if you wish to have some input. I'd like to see the deletion overturned. Again, thanks for your eyes on the issue. -- Longhair 09:18, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The article has been restored. Great referencing by the way. I try to reference where I can these days. That was one of my earlier attempts at an article :) -- Longhair 09:33, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
About Prod notices: Looks like you added the citations but left the prod notice, and the 5-day deadline was just about to expire. Once a prod notice is placed on an article the deletion happens automatically, regardless of citations added, or changes to the article. There is no review. Anyone may remove a prod notice at any time for any reason (or none at all), so normally you want to do that at the same time you add citations (or even if you're planning to). Fan-1967 13:14, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Realistically, I think often prods get so backed up that admins may not be very meticulous in reviewing them, going by the assumption that if nobody bothered to remove the prod notice, it's probably not worth keeping. The other reason they may not be that careful is that, as in this case, if anyone complains, restoration of the article is automatic, so no harm done. Fan-1967 13:34, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your Comment!

Indeed {{helpme}} should be used for building the encyclopedia. I would like to think however, that clarifying the issue I had requested help for can only benefit me in future edits. Nonetheless, I appreciate and will take into account your concern from now on :)

seeking guidance on editing fonts in Wikipedia

Hi! I'm not sure you are the most appropriate person to ask, but I found you via a relevant link, so: I have noticed on the page of "Tibetan language" in Wikipedia that the Tibetan script does not stack up properly. I have no trouble doing this with various editors (including Word) on either a Mac or Windows platform, but, at least in Windows, one has to use a special Tibetan Unicode font such as "Tibetan Machine Uni" so that the necessary Open Type information is available. It seems that the font used on the Wikipedia page is simply some generic Unicode font such as Arial Unicode MS etc. which does indeed contain the Tibetan letters, but does not know how to assemble them (stack them) into a legible Tibetan word. I also noticed that in the article on Pali language, my office XP system with IE browser was unable to correctly show the fonts there no matter what font I tried to use via the View menu (although if the same material was copied into a Word document, there was no problem), whereas on my XP system at home with the Firefox browser, there was no problem on the same Wikipedia page.

Warsaw Radio Mast photos

Pictures of this building are extremely rare. Extremely. There are people struggling over the net and libraries to find them, including me. There are discussions about this, because it's not a small thing for world heritage and Guinness. It's the world's tallest structure, enfulged in the wave of SSSR mistery. My friend managed to find those images from unknown source, which is a great effort. So, what should I do to make those photos legal on wikipedia? Why there isn't any tag for unknown photos? Not all photos have a known history. I could've uploaded it cropped with notation it's my photo, but I was sincere. Thank you for your answer.

Possible sock puppet

There is a vandal who has recently been adding very inappropriate images to the article 2006 redefinition of planet. It may be deeper than ordinary vandalism, however, because it seems that the same person is creating numerous accounts and using each one once to recreate the image each time it is deleted. Starting up a page

Seeing that you are an administrator on Wikipedia, I was just wondering if you could give me the appropriate instructions on how to set up a page on Wikipedia. I seem to have trouble locating the pages I have set up when I type to title of my page into the Wikipedia "search" URL. Thanks. Canadia

Thanks for your reply. However, with all due respect, I don't think you understand my problem. I have created two pages Military History of Canada during WWI and List of Christian Missionaries. Yet when you put in the title of these two pages into the Wikipedia "Search Engine," it doesn't give you the page I have created. On the other hand, if you type in "Canada" into the search engine, you get a page describing all the things about Canada ([1]) If you could take a look at these two pages and see what's wrong, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks Canadia
Okay thanks a whole bunch. Just one more thing: I created the "Military History of Canada during WWI" page on June 15th. Is it suppose to take this long to show up? I know some guys whose articles have shown up just 2 days after their creation. Is there something wrong that I am doing when I make an article? Please reply. Thanks Canadia

Help with stub tagging on amputation article?

I was referred to you by User:SandyGeorgia who said that you were a great help when she had trouble with vandalism on the Tourette syndrome page. One of the pages that I am watching is the amputation page, as it relates to some of my professional interests. In the past two weeks, the page has been tagged three times as a stub [2]. Normally, this would be a quite reasonable tag in wikipedia (and not something likely to be picked up by bots), and I wouldn't be contacting an admin about it, but in this case there are a number of things that make it seem like vandalism or a joke in poor taste.

  1. The article is not a stub. It is long enough (although it could still be expanded) that it is no longer editable by a novice. It currently includes 7 sections, and although it could use some referencing hits the major points.
  2. Stub when referrring to amputations makes for a very poor-taste joke. Indeed, the first editor who tagged the article with "stub" included "huhuhuhu" as his edit comment.
  3. All three users who have tagged the article are IPs. The first one has only this edit in his or her history. Obviously, this are at best circumstantial details, but I am only using them to add to the above. Especially in the case of the first IP edit.

Again, if the article were a stub, or in the absence of such comments, I wouldn't be contacting you. At this point, my question is, does the 3RR apply to vandalism of this sort? Is there any way to make certain that this article does not get tagged with an inappropriate stub notice? I assume bots aren't smart enough to remove stub tags from specific pages? I have added a polite notice {{subst:test0}} on the user page for User:137.73.22.142. In his or her case, the IP has at least been used several times, so perhaps there will be some response. Please feel free to reply on my talk page if you have any other suggestions. Edhubbard 20:32, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your help with the amputation page, and for the advice about the 3RR. I will continue to revert, and remind users that this might be considered vandalism. The last revert, I also invited the user to discuss this on the talk page, in case there is something that I've missed, but if people continue to tag the article with no explanation, I might ask for semi-protection. It sure doesn't seem bad enough to warrant it yet... It's not the elephant article, after all! Edhubbard 21:13, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A question

Hi again! Thanks for helping out Edhubbard (above). I have a question: I'm past the days of multiple helpme templates, but instruction creep still makes it hard to understand some things on Wiki. I haven't been able to find this answer anywhere.

In spite of a prior mediation (where I ceded to this editor, hoping a show of good faith would help: it didn't), and two RfCs resulting in multiple editors (including admins) telling him his interpretation of BLP is incorrect, another editor has escalated from inappropriate deletions of well-sourced material to what I believe are personal attacks. I have offered him the opportunity to apologize and retract, which he hasn't done. In the discussion, he has added further attacks. There has been a pattern of escalation over two months now, and my concern is that he refuses to listen to consensus or to back down. My question is, am I supposed to leave template npa2 on his page, or is that an admin function only? I can't find any instructions anywhere which explain adequately the use of the template. (I'm not asking you to leave a warning: I'm still hoping he'll back down and de-escalate. I'm trying to find out if the next step is for me to leave the template, or to ask an admin to leave one, or if my discussion on his talk page is sufficient for now.) Thanks for any help you can give, Sandy 16:55, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Update: as he refuses to discuss and back off (calls it a "debate"), I now do want to add a warning template, and need to know if I should add that, or if an admin needs to add it. Thanks, Sandy 17:59, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please delete a page

Sorry to bug you with this... Could you please delete the blank page User:RussBlau/dpl2.js? I can't tag it for speedy deletion because ".js" pages aren't parsed for wiki-syntax, apparently. --Russ Blau (talk) 17:34, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Housekeeping

A bit of old news here (all the way back to April), but since you're an admin I'll mention it. You posted to User talk:Ziggles Metropolitan recommending the {{Citecheck}} template for articles that needed citations. Actually that recommendation ought to be {{Citations missing}}. {{Citecheck}} is specialized for misuse of citations, such as quotations taken out of context. I've had to change templates on a lot of articles that were using the wrong template. Please spread the word about that difference. Cheers, Durova 04:20, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Arsenal images

Hi. I'm looking through all the Arsenal player articles, and they've all recently had the official profile photos uploaded to them. For example take Gilberto Silva, the photo at the top is from http://www.arsenal.com/player.asp?thisNav=first+team&plid=60094&clid=4421&cpid=703

A while ago in my talk you said that this kind of image use wasn't allowed - has this changed? I would love the Gilberto article to be allowed the official Arsenal.com profile pic, but I suspect it is illegal.

Please advise - thanks. -GilbertoSilvaFan 04:16, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I was too fast

Sorry about speedy deleting the page too quickly, I wasn't sure whether any of the content was either salvageable or worth salvaging. Kudos for finding the useful version. Bobo. 05:00, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As far as the db-empty tag I placed on this article is concerned, I did look at the previous edits, and I still felt the tag was justified. All of the movie information is already present in the main Misery article, and the editor gave no indication that he was splitting it off, or why. Instead, he created an infobox, then deleted it. As far as I knew, he would not be completing the article, nor was the article necessary. As I say, I felt the tag was justified. ---Charles 05:59, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah there was a bit of a misunderstanding on my part there. I saw the attempt at an infobox, and fixed it (it was a very tricky problem, where a borken wikilink broke the entire template). Filling out an infobox takes a bit of time and I was disappointed that it was tagged for deletion. I didn't realise that the film is already covered at Misery, but I think the extra information in the infobox not presented in Misery is useful, and that the film should have its own article. But maybe that is something to discuss.--Commander Keane 06:36, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I certainly have no objection to the film having its own article---in fact, I was quite surprised to find it hadn't one already. When I saw the title on the new articles page, though, I assumed this was either a joke article (which I have seen in the past) or someone creating a new article without checking to make sure it did not already exist (an example of which, again involving a film, I saw just the other day). In a sense, the latter is the case. There should probably be some discussion on the talk page for the main Misery article, and a suggestion that the film content be split off into a separate article. I think that would be the best course of action. Thanks for your response and your vigilance. ---Charles 06:42, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
OK I kicked off a discussion at Talk:Misery. Thanks for your help :-) --Commander Keane 06:59, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Russell Peters edits of 65.49.251.20

Hi Commander Keane, I'd just like to seek some advice on a constant pain of an editor; this person (65.49.251.20) keeps reverting the edit or Russell Peters' middle name, which is Dominic (and I also cited a source), and is constantly incivil in his edit summaries, eg (geek - his name as a performer is Russell Peters), or (HE'S NOT PUNJABI DUMBASSES). How Should I Handle This?

If you examine the contribs from "Taekowndodogoof (Talk | contribs)" you will find that he replaced the image that I uploaded with itself more than once (the actual image published on my website is http://dwightmccann.com/Images/AnaGabriel10192006/AnaGabriel079.JPG) and has made false claims about "Fair Use" and has neither attributed the image nor provided any reference ... he couldn't, of course, because he is fabricating his explanation. This will likely preclude my contributions to the Public Domain of other the PhotoArt which contains its own attribution material. Dwightmccann 01:00, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Attribution of Images

I read the image usage policy quickly and did not see any specifics about attribution in captions. Since it is clearly trivial for someone to replace my images with copies of themselves but without appropriate attribution metadata as was the case with Ana Gabriel, I find the suggestion that attribution should not accompany images in articles unresponsive. In all works, including encyclopedias, in which images are used, photocredit exists ... it is like any art: we do not generally see paintings or sculpture shown anonymously. However, I can see there is considerable stress in this area, which explains why there are so few quality images of Performing Artists available here. My intentions with regard to Wikipedia were to share high quality images of major artists for public use, but not without acknowledgement. This is clearly not an appropriate medium and my contributions were ill considered. I will "Be Bold" via a Google sitemap to my images instead. I apologize for taking up your time. I've made the search engine internally replace "(top)" with "toptop", and added that as a keyword for entry #115, so users should be able to search for "(top)" and get the entry. Thanks for continuing to improve Nubio :) Cheers, Tangotango 14:39, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

GCC

That was months ago! LOL :D Yeah, I was still a noob then. I've figured it out by now. Reported some cut & pase holding pens too. Anyway, thanks for fixin' it. Even I've already forgotten about that edit. :D Btw, although admittedly, there's yet an article named GCC, shouldn't it be GCC (disambiguation) instead of just GCC? (I mean, wouldn't having GCC for disambig instead of GCC (disambiguation) be hogging a space that someone could put an article about GCC into?)

I notice that you deleted this page and move Pedra Branca (disambiguation) there as a "malplaced disambiguation page". Well, the redirect on Pedra Branca was the remnant of a move made by a user without discussion; he moved the original Pedra Branca page to Pedra Branca, Singapore. Then someone changed the redirect to point to the disambiguation page. There is a discussion on Talk:Pedra Branca, Singapore to move it back to Pedra Branca. Ideas for Vote Templates

Hello Commander!

Currently, on Meta, people use templates that users place when voting on whatnot to declare their vote. I have created similar "templates" on one of my user pages, but currently these are not mainstream templates (then again they aren't even templates) because I wanted a few Admins to approve them for use on Votes (such as RfAs and other votes). Please see This page for more info.

I just wanted to let you know, because I have been away for some time, that I have both received your helpful and specific answers to my questions and that I am thankful for them. Bad Idea?

I could use an assist (maybe two). I have a pet peeve, and thought I'd come up with a good concept for making chides to editors who leave incomplete documentation trails by creating sort of a wet diaper award. It seems to be drawing some adverse reactions, and even before I'd spammed a request to some others like this for brainstorming on how to shorten same and evolve it, as I'm not happy with it either. Subsequently, it's already drawn fire (here) before I could ask in help and get suggestions. Can you take a look and comment here. There has to be some way to let people know 'shallow edit actions' that reflect poorly on our pages need a talk note justification, no exceptions, thankyou. Much appreciated // FrankB 22:55, 12 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Sorry, my bad -- thanks for looking in et. al. -- the discussion on the problem and concept of some kind of template set for my 'Rant' continues at User talk:Fabartus/Wet noodle award (also relinked to 2nd 'here' above) where we're canvasing now for concrete inoffensive reminder template suggestions/proposals--I pulled the plug on the tfd myself and left the forwarding link on the tfd assuming those arriving later would see. With the holiday and RL, wikitime is at a premium right now, so sorry I didn't follow up spam a clarification. Sorry. Right now, the idea is to come up with a few that can be added to the Wikipedia:Template_messages/User_talk_namespace#Editing_hints group, and the consensus is to scrap my desire to have some humor in them. Given a week or three of critique and suggestions, expect to take them as a block proposal to Wikipedia talk:Template_messages/User_talk_namespace. We need something to put some concept of 'good documentation practices' into the conscienciousness of the society. Thanks. // FrankB 16:31, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

    Malplaced Disambiguation Pages

I don't know if this answers your question, but here's how I did each entry:

    1. Opened the two pages (Example: Foo and Foo (disamiguation))
    2. Examined if both origin and destination had a talk page.
      1. If yes, deleted destination talk page (Talk:Foo) with edit summary "merging page histories"
    3. Delete destination with summary "merging page histories"
    4. Move origin to destination using move tool, with summary "Wikipedia:WikiProject Disambiguation/Malplaced disambiguation pages"
    5. Clicked on destination's history (Revision history of Foo)
    6. Clicked on "View or restore ... edits?"
    7. Restored edits with edit summary "merging page histories"
    8. Clicked on destination's history
    9. Performed hard refresh (CTRL + SHIFT + F5 in Firefox)
    10. Repeat for talk page, if applicable.

I didn't worry too much about ensuring that everything in both talk pages showed up on the final talk page, though perhaps I should have. However, if anyone wants to consult previous discussion, they could look in the page history. Although, to be honest, most talk messages were short, and discussed whether or not the page should be disambiguated.

And, if you're curious on what page moves and deletions I performed, you can check using the following links: (IanManka (talk · contribs · blocks · protects · deletions · moves)).

If that still hasn't answered your question, don't hesitate to ask. If you have any questions, please contact me at my talk page. Ian Manka 07:02, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

May I ask why you made KBS into a disambiguation page, when the vast majority of links to KBS went to Korean Broadcasting System? I have spent about an hour moving almost a hundred pages from KBS to Korean Broadcasting System. I know you're an admin and stuff, so perhaps I shouldn't be talking, but if an acronym is most used for a certain ... "thing", shouldn't it link directly there? The link to the disambiguation page was at the top of Korean Broadcasting System anyway. SKS2K6 18:26, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

    The question or ...

The question of questions... (re: your post on Fabartus I don't think it's any big deal, but the issue was raised that revising the CFD proposal as I did this afternoon perhaps ought be cause for restarting the discussion. Trouble is I don't know that I have any authority to unilaterally say delete it and start a discussion under the new modified proposal which effectively adds one category leaving the subject cat alone save for clarification editting. That would be fine except since posting, a half-a dozen others have agreed with my original (less informed) thinking. OTOH, we're sort of switching horses mid-stream if left alone. Either way, unless there is a procedural precedent to close the current discussion, someone could get their nose out of joint. Hence the alert and question on AN. If that's not clear on either WP:AN or my talk, I don't know how to make the point better. Examining the linked CFD should clarify it upon inspection. I guess I'll post this to AN as well. Hi CK, I noticed you redid this page with references. The list of television shows and dates are wrong - The Chaser Decides was an election special (2004 only). CNNNN was 2002 and 2003 (I don't think CNNNN Live was a separate show). I can't access the reference you have as it isn't available online, but can you double check the source? If not, I can find another source with the correct dates. -- Chuq

War of the Worlds disambiguation advice

I consulted you on a few disambiguation matters a while back and was looking for some input on a few issues arising from The War of the Worlds. Someone decided to move everything around by cutting and pasting entries and shuffling them around on a scheme known only to them. We've been working to put everything back the way it was (although we will need an admin for the last few moves) but we wanted a bit of input on the naming of two of the 2005 films which is enough to keep them apart but still a cause for concern. You can see the discussion of the problem and our working to put things back here and the final moves are indicated in the list - the troublesome filmes 2005 haven't been moved back to their original resting places: "H.G. Wells' The War of the Worlds (2005 film)" and "H.G. Wells' War of the Worlds (2005 film)" and we basically wanted to see if there was a better way to name them to put more distance between them (some suggestions are included in the discussion). Thanks in advance for any help you can provide - feel free to leave any replies/comments on the WotW talk page (instead of mine). (Emperor 04:25, 16 January 2007 (UTC))[reply]

OK no worries. It wasn't awfully important. We'll put them back where they were and if someone decides that the two films names:
aren't sufficiently different then we can move them later (it just seemed neater to resolve it before doing the last move required to fix things). Thanks for looking it over. (Emperor 23:39, 18 January 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Believe It or Not is back!

    Hello Commander Keane,

I was wondering if you could possibly restore the Believe It or Not (film) article, given the fact that Paramount has ressurected it and have hired a new screenwriter to rewrite the script. Tim and Jim are still attached, and it will still be released in 2009. If you don't believe me, just look at this article: http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117955948.html?categoryid=13&cs=1

    help request

I apologize it was not about archiving a page. I am being bullied about article names on level of support for evolution. ScienceApologist is acting like it is some crisis at this moment and I have violated some cardinal rule which no one seems to agree with. He just is unilaterially dictating and in a huge rush to push me and the other editors around. Can I do anything?--Filll 05:52, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the suggestion. I am not sure of its value unfortunately. We had an RfC style discussion of the name and 25 others disagreed with this editor. He dismissed that with the claim that the other editors were deranged and is becoming increasingly belligerent. He does not want to listen to other suggestions. He appears not to believe in concensus. I do not know what to do.--Filll 06:03, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Normally there is an admin or two that have helped protect me from his attacks. Unfortunately, they are not online tonight and tonight he has decided the house is burning down and he is frantic to move immediately. I wonder if he is inebriated or otherwise under the influence. This is very erratic. He claims I have not been cooperative but I have suggested about 20 alternate names. Others have suggested about another 30 alternate names. He either rejects them summarily, with claims they violate WP rules (which I see no evidence of) or claims we have not given him any alternatives and are being reticent and unresponsive. Before he moved it unliterally about 10 times on his own and the admins moved it back. He really wants to dictate what he believes is the appropriate name (he has suggested maybe 3 which are intentionally awkward and clumsy in the extreme, I believe). If he could get his way, he would delete the article entirely since he thinks that the entire controversy should not be mentioned on WP since creationists are stupid in his eyes and acknowledging the controversy is playing into their hands (I know this sounds sort of nuts, but that is his reasoning as I understand it). This has erupted tonight because both of my guardian admins are not on right now I guess so he sees his chance to be a bully.--Filll 06:16, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

    Yo, Commander Gleam!

Could I possibly bother you with a minor task once again? Could you please move to Commons and fix the link in Sotho language? When I uploaded it almost two weeks ago I didn't have the time or knowledge to do this myself and now that I'm back to Opera Mini I fear that it may be too difficult to do it myself (which is precisely why I explicitly asked my fellow "contributors" to do it for me). Beleive it or Not, again

This article, Believe It or Not (film), should be deleted. I have seen 2009 films deleted all over the place. re:helpme

{helpme} I have a question regarding honorific titles, such as "His Excellency". Would it be redundant or unnecessary to put these titles on List of delegates to the Millennium Summit? Personally, I think that since the list is entirely consisting of world leaders, these titles should be dropped. On the other hand, that is how these people are referred to in the United Nations.--Ed ¿Cómo estás?Reviews? 03:06, 7 February 2007 (UTC)I'[reply]

If there was Wikipedia guideline about this, you might find it at Wikipedia:Manual of Style. But I think it would be ok to try and establish consensus on the article's talk page (Talk:List of delegates to the Millennium Summit), if no one objects to your proposal there then you can implement it. You might also drop a note at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject United Nations to get ideas from more people.--Commander Keane 03:26, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The problem with that is that I'm the only editor who worked on that list, and WP:WPUN seems inactive, since discussion is scarce over there. Nonetheless, I'll see if I can get a response.--Ed ¿Cómo estás?Reviews? 03:29, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

    Hacking Wikimedia!

    Hello there!

Is the anyway to link to named anchors within an article without creating a section?

What I mean is, you know that if you create a section "Historical usage" within the article "Looney Bin" you can link straight to it by using "Looney Bin#Historical_usage", right? Now, is there a way to create such a linkable anchor without creating a section?

The Wiki software does not leave the HTML <a name = "Historical_usage" /> (for creating a named anchor) alone in the rendered page! Should I just create more and more sections, or is there a way around this?

Could you possibly also point me to anywhere detailing how to load and link audio files (I'm thinking of making recordings of myself for the Sesotho article, assuming I manage to survive this flu)?

    Funcle

Commander Keene, I have to respectfully disagree with your deletion of "Funcle". There are numerous other slang terms used to describe sexual acts on Wikipedia. The very nature of these slang terms makes the "references" used to substantiate the terms questionable at best. I'm inquiring as how the decision was made to publish the terms: Dirty Sanchez, Cleveland Steamer, etc... Although the Funcle has not achieved the cult status that these other terms have, it is indeed a sexual practice with a growing following.
