Section on North America

[edit]

This reads just like an advert for a franchise operation! I've removed a heavily POV section which contrasts "authentic" Irish pubs with "inauthentic" other "theme concepts". This was not appropriate for a factual article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.166.41.87 (talk) 15:21, 11 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Change title to Irish pub (now a redirect)

[edit]

The current title Public houses in Ireland implies that it will list or explain bars currently in Ireland. In actuality, the article addresses the concept which is widespread throughout the world. I recommend it be moved to Irish pub, and that Category:Drinking establishments be added, to show that this is a certain style of drinking-place regardless of location. Please state any objections, and barring those I'd like to move this article by mid-January 2010. MatthewVanitas (talk) 04:47, 4 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Live music

[edit]

It may be worthwhile to mention the fact that some pubs host traditional music seissiuns where instrumentalists gather to play (mostly) dance tunes. However, I am not sure where to slip it into the current article. The Irish pubs and tourism section seems the most likely place, except for the paragraph that begins with "The sentimental image of Ireland held by many tourists..." which discusses singing pubs, and characterizes as a myth fostered by "...the Irish tourist industry" "The notion that there is more live music in an Irish pub..." Since I am sure of neither the language nor the location, I though it best to leave my idea here, and the rest to the community. --96.251.7.96 (talk) 19:30, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Grace Neill's

[edit]

It looks like the cited source is wrong, and this pub is actually called Grace Neills or maybe Grace Neill's. Kendall-K1 (talk) 17:26, 4 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I've been trying to figure out which it was, several sources I saw listed it as Grace O'Neill's but it seems like you are right, so feel free to change it. Thanks for catching that! Ksheeran13 (talk) 17:59, 4 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The pub itself uses two different spellings on its web site, with and without apostrophe, but always without the "O'". The sign on the front of the building says "Grace Neill's" so I'm going to go with that. Kendall-K1 (talk) 18:15, 4 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
