I think it's time to get into some userscripts, How about you?WikiZorrosign 00:58, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
- Userscripts are tools used to make tedious tasks easy! For example TW gives you a rollback as vandalism link on the newest diff in the history of a page. Then, It automatically brings up the talk page of the vandal, with a tab at the top of the screen that says "warn", where you can warn them on different levels. It's pretty cool. Old AFDs
There's no need to weigh in on closed AFD discussions (particularly those that are months old). Instead, it's fine to go ahead and remove the AFD template from the article and add the {{oldafdfull}} note to the talk page. Re:GA
I just skimmed through the article and there are lot's of problems with the article. 1) The article has templates (look at the two at the top) around it. It would quickly fail WP:GAN if there are templates added to it. 2) The lead is way too short. Try expanding that. 3) You need much more references for the article. Most GANs on average range to 30 - 50 references. Try adding to that. I would be glad to help you with these problems. And yes, the work you did to the article was great. I think you should work on finding more refs. That's a good start. I'll do some expanding and copyediting. Comments? --RyRy5 (talk) 00:08, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
- Nice to hear your working on articles. :) I guess I will do some copyediting now. --RyRy5 (talk) 03:50, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
LAAAF, I wanted to bring our guidelines on Wikipedia:Canvassing to your attention based on these recent edits. Per the guidelines, these messages are not neutral (and possibly not nonpartisan, though that's a murkier standard here). Particularly since the users in question found WWS after it was already nominated for deletion, they're aware of the topic anyway -- thus, there's no need to push the boundaries here. Of perhaps more concern, though, is your continued misunderstanding of "voting" at Wikipedia. To quote the relevant section:
- Because the point of these processes is to form consensus, it is preferable that people explain their reasonings, respond to others and possibly compromise, rather than signing a one-word opinion and not looking back. Attempting to "vote stack" such processes are ineffective and potentially disruptive, and "votes" without reasoning may carry no weight in the final interpretation.
Similarly, encouraging people to fling "keeps" with reasons that boil down to WP:ILIKEIT is a similarly unimpressive practice. — Lomn 18:00, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

WikiProject Baseball Newsletter
The Baseball WikiProject Newsletter Issue I – July 2008 | |
This month's newsletter was designed and written by Wizardman, jj137, and Blackngold29. If you would like to contribute to future newsletters, please contact the Baseball WP outreach dept. |
Baseball has a history unlike any other sport. It has been played in countless countries throughout the decades, and it will undoubtedly continue play for many more. On this eve, some the finest players the sport has to offer will take the field at the Yankee Stadium. Four popes spoke there, Pelé scored goals there, "The Greatest [football] Game Ever Played" was battled out there, John Philip Sousa lead a band there, George Costanza worked there; but what do all these events have in common? They fail to reach the level of greatness that the baseball that was played there did. In 1923, a man named Babe Ruth decided to build a new house, and over the years, that house was a home to some of the greatest baseball ever played. If I were to list out all of these great moments, it would be longer than the bill for the New Yankee Stadium. So I'll sum it up by saying that we can remember these great moments by adding them to this place we've gathered at for future generations to read about, to learn about, to dream about; but more importantly we can watch tonight and we can remember how baseball is unlike anything else that we will encounter in our lives. — Blackngold29 |

Cy Young protection?
Hi. Did you mean a different article when you requested protection? I only see two vandalism edits to Cy Young in the last six weeks. —Wknight94 (talk) 17:32, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
- Okay. Protection is only done in cases where the article is currently under attack - as in the last few hours or maybe days. We don't protect in advance because someone is doing heavy editing on it. However, I will add it to my watchlist! :) Also, if you want any assistance, I'll be happy to lend a hand, time permitting. I'm trying to put some finishing touches on the Harmon Killebrew article. Baseball articles in general are one of my areas of interest. —Wknight94 (talk) 17:39, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
- BTW, food for thought - I haven't found BaseballAlmanac to be the most reliable source. It's all hand-done and prone to mistakes. I just found an example yesterday on their 1963 All-Star Game page. Their notes at the bottom include "Did you know that Harmon Killebrew tied the record for singles hit during an All-Star Game with three?" Only Killebrew didn't hit three singles in the 1963 All-Star Game. He hit three singles in the 1964 All-Star Game! See Retrosheet's page here. In the 1963 All-Star Game, Killebrew only had one pinch-hit AB where he struck out. In general, I try to stick to Retrosheet and Baseball-Reference.com (the latter's box score info comes from the former's data). —Wknight94 (talk) 19:48, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
- FYI, I cross-posted this to WT:WPBB#BaseballAlmanac reliability? —Wknight94 (talk) 20:46, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

Unless you can get a definitive community support soon then this FLC will be archived. Of course, you're more than welcome to start the process once again once you've ensured you've dealt with reviewer's concerns. I'd suggest contacting the major reviewers. The Rambling Man (talk) 20:01, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
- Cool. I understand how frustrating it can be. Believe me that if I archive it tomorrow there's no problem with you starting the whole FLC 10-day thing again immediately, but I'll probably spend some time tomorrow (it's 9pm where I am) checking the article over and will promote as long as there aren't loads of issues outstanding. Last Warning reply
Hello. I wanted to talk to you about my warnings. As you may have noticed my three previous warnings were issued by the same user, as we have some different points of view on a particularly tough issue. But if you had read the whole section you would have understood that we reached an agreement and none of our views were totally wrong so I wouldn't call them disruptive. I have made and am still making many edits on the subject, and 3 mistakes are of no significance. I would also like to point out that these three complaints were months ago. We haven't had any trouble since.
About your complaint, it is partially my fault. I forgot to write in the edit summary that i was moving it to List of major earthquakes in Iran. I assumed that the latter title would be more appropriate and couldn't imagine anyone opposing the change.
I also wish to remove all my warnings as I don't think any of them have any value but I will officially ask you if I can. Can I remove all or some (please specify which ones) of my warnings? so there. That's all I have to say.
P.S. Please forgive me if my comment may have sounded rude, insulting or aggressive as I occasionally get carried away or my comment is misinterpreted!Ardeshire Babakan (talk) 20:21, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
Thankyou for retracting your warning and I understand and accept that you can't retract the other warnings. Thankyou for the tip!

I have stiken my objection at the FLC but left a question. I will review again soon to gauge whether I'm comfortable supporting but it won't be for a couple hours (~6-12 hours). By the way, I noticed you were adding {{expand}} templates on some stubs [1]. The template is intended for specific requests for expansion and should be followed up with an explanation on the talk page or at Wikipedia:Requests for expansion where it states "the use of the {{expand}} tag on stubs should always be accompanied by a detailed explanation of what needs to be done." It is kind of redundant with the stub tag, anyway. :) maclean 23:43, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
