Eurasian Category

[edit]

The category "Eurasian" was removed from this article. I believe it should be re-added. The discussion is here. Tweisbach (talk) 15:42, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Basically I need this category to conform to our core policy WP:V. In the absence of verifiable and reliable information that the subject of this article belongs in this category, we may not have it. Ethnic categories are widely misused on Wikipedia at present and I am having a cleanup. In about 90% of cases the category has merely been added by assertion, as here. If verifiable sources can be found stating that the subject's ethnicity is significant to her notability, I have no problem with re-adding the category. --John (talk) 16:39, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've added additional references which verify her ethnicity, which is quite significant to her life story. Tweisbach (talk) 16:58, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It might not (yet) be so in Japanese, or in Japan, but the categorisation, that of a person as an "Eurasian" – the same as the now unfortunate term "half-caste" – is now considered controversial and politically-incorrect, if not also racist or offensive, in many parts of the English-speaking World, as well as in the English Wikipedia, so much so that the relevant categories have all now been deleted (CfD 2008 April 20; CfD 008 July 21; CfD 2009 March 15). The use of such terms are now contrary to the prevailing common and general consensus current in the English Wikipedia, even if truthfully applied, and with sources as proof, or possibly even in cases of self-identification. -- KC9TV 22:07, 12 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

COI

[edit]

The major contributor to this article, Egg1234 (talk · contribs), appears to be Yukawa's management; see [1] (file uploaded by Egg1234 with statement asserting that photo authored by "Diana Yukawa Management" is "own work"). Most of the edits from this editor are fluff. We need to keep an eye on these edits to keep this from becoming even more of a puff-piece than it already is.
