Suspected sockpuppets

WP:DUCK per sock naming convention and editing behavior. User:Ljlas20 was first seen editing the List of programs previously broadcast by Radio Philippines Network article and keeps on adding shows that did not even aired in this network. Once those shows are removed or his edits were reverted, he uses one of the listed sockpuppets to re-add his edits. The user account Zoebryce had been globally locked, I checked on the CA records, this user was blocked at ceb.wikipedia as "sockpuppet of LTA 2toy mora" summary, the other account 2toy mora was also blocked at ceb.wikipedia as "sockpuppet of LTA 2toy mora/Bertrand101" summary. Suspected sockpuppets

Several IPs in a similar range were blocked last November. They had a pattern of doing work related to television/radio stations and sports announcers, including a habit of adding (unsourced) announcers to the infoboxes of National Basketball Association team season articles. Examples of the previous IPs' work can be seen here, here, here, and here. These IPs have jumped in over the past couple of days, making edits like this, this, this, and this. New sock has the same naming convention on other recently blocked socks of Ljlas20 (adding -CN at the end of the username that usually is a show in Cartoon Network). Also, I have listed the IP address 49.146.37.33 for sockpuppetry. The IP keeps on adding the category "Radio Philippines Network personalities" on the Julie Ann San Jose article, even if the said artist did not become part of the network. Suspected sockpuppets

IP was seen editing the same articles that the sockpuppets have been editing (Radio Philippines Network related articles). The new sock account reverted back the IP's edits. Also, the new account has the similar naming pattern compared with previously blocked sock accounts which are named after Grand Theft Auto series characters and the game in the series that the character appeared (samples: User:De Santa GTA V, User:Lazlow GTA III and User:Sonny GTA VC). - WayKurat (talk) 01:37, 3 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  2. At least one diff per suspected sockpuppet, showing the suspected sockpuppet emulating the behaviour of the sockmaster given in the first diff.
  3. In situations where it is not immediately obvious from the diffs what the characteristic behaviour is, a short explanation must be provided. Around one sentence is enough for this.

  • @Ctrlwiki: While normally one should not revert a sock's edits before they've been blocked, sometimes people (myself included) do do it if it's particularly obvious. It seems from Sean's filing that he feels that this case is obvious, so I'm going to assume good faith that he's just failed to supply the needed diffs. If we wind up determining that Liberty1982 isn't a sock, then we'll review things.
    More broadly, I see that you're coming into conflict with Sean in a lot of places. Showing up at an SPI like this to complain about him could be seen as WP:HOUNDING.   • @SeanJ 2007: You've already pinged WayKurat once. Since they've continued to edit, I think it's safe to assume that they're either already preparing a reply, or not interested in replying. There's no need to ping them again. (If you're worried that they didn't get your first ping, turn on "Failed mention" and "successful mention" in Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-echo.)
    I'm going to leave this open a few more days, for you to gether more evidence, and for WayKurat to show up if they'd like to. (They're under no obligation.) In the future, please keep in mind the header at WP:SPI: Evidence is required. When you open the investigation, you must immediately provide evidence that the suspected sock puppets are connected. The evidence will need to include diffs of edits that suggest the accounts are connected.     @WayKurat: Thank you for your comments clarifying what happened, and for acknowledging responsibility for your mistake. If you want to apologize, though, it's better that you apologize to Liberty than apologize here. Just so you know, only clerks and admins should really be tagging users as sox. The documentation at {{sock}} is rather out-of-date on this, and some other clerks/CUs and I have been working on overhauling that series of templates to make it clearer that that's not how they're meant to be used, so it's not your fault; but just for future reference.
    @SeanJ 2007: In the future, please do not file SPIs if you don't have evidence of sockpuppetry. Also, please do not try to intimidate people by pointing to the existence of an SPI, after it's already been established that you don't have any evidence. You may consider this an informal warning (more for the intimidation than the filing). Now please go revert all of your reverts of their edits—or, if you stand by the revert for another reason, make a dummy edit explaining the reason. WP:DUCK per behavioral evidence and username. Recreated an article that was previously made by several IP socks as a redirect (see edit history of News Update (RPN) and its public log. Both sock accounts were also caught editing the List of programs previously broadcast by Radio Philippines Network article, the other sock even moved it to a new title.
