Unión Deportiva Almería, usually known simply as Almería, is a Spanish top division football club based in Almería, Province of Almería, South East of Spain . The club played in La Liga as AD Almeria between 1979-1981.

History

The club was founded in 1989 as Almería Club de Futbol (Almería CF), but in 2001 the club was renamed Unión Deportiva Almería.

Trophies

  • Promoted to the Second Division at the end of the 1994/95 season.
  • Relegated to the Second Division B at the end of the 1996/97 season.
  • Relegated to the Third Division at the end of the 1998/99 season.

Primera Division 2007/08

Almeria recorded their first win of the season on the opening day surprising Deportivo 3-0. This was later followed up by a win at rivals Murcia, a draw with Mallorca and two close defeats to title contenders Valencia and Real Madrid.
