ONE is a new free-to-air Australian television channel, set to commence broadcast on March 26, 2009. [2] The channel, which is owned by Network Ten, will reportedly feature 24 hour a day sporting content including live sport and sporting documentaries. .[3]
Upon its launch, ONE will broadcast in high definition on Digital Channel 1, Channel 11 and standard definition on Digital Channel 12 .[4] One SD began broadcasting Febuary 11 under the banner of Ten SD 2 repeating content from 10HD.
Sport
The channel is said to feature the following sports upon implementation:[4]
- Australian Football League (AFL) (includes the NAB Cup, home and away season, finals, and grand final)
- Netball (including the ANZ Championship, and all Test matches featuring the Australian Diamonds)
- 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi
- Indian Premier League cricket (IPL)
- Formula 1 (includes every round of the F1 World Championship)
- Moto GP (includes extensive coverage of every round of the Moto GP World Championship)
- NASCAR (includes live coverage of the Daytona 500, Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series)
- Australian Rally Championship (includes coverage of every round)
- National Football League (NFL) (includes three live games per week, flagship Sunday and Monday night games, the playoffs, and the Super Bowl)
- Major League Baseball (MLB) (includes five live games per week, the playoffs, and the World Series)
- National Basketball Association (NBA) (includes three live games per week)
- Golf (includes U.S. Masters, U.S. Open, World Golf Championships, and 15 additional international and domestic events)
- U.S. College Sports (includes American football and basketball)
- Tennis (includes approximately 11 ATP and WTA tournaments in 2009)
- Swimming (includes the Aus. Swimming Champs, Pan Pacific Champs, Aus. Short Course Champs, FINA World Short Course Champs, and Swimmer of the Year)
Also:
- Weekly review & preview shows for the majority of sports telecasted on One.
- A brand new live AFL program, shown on Monday nights.
- Two expanded editions of Sports Tonight shown every weeknight, with one broadcast during prime-time at 7pm.
