"Hoedown Throwdown"
Song

"Hoedown Throwdown" is a song performed by American singer, actress and author, Miley Cyrus (sometimes incorrectly credited to her character, Hannah Montana), and is the fifth single from the Hannah Montana: The Movie motion picture soundtrack. The single was premiered on Radio Disney on February 13, 2009 and released to iTunes as a Radio Disney Exclusive single on March 10, 2009. The dance-track includes a dance that was described by director of Hannah Montana: The Movie, Peter Cholsom, as a "Macarena for 2009".

The song peaked at #18 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking Cyrus's fourth top 20 hit.

Promotion

Miley Cyrus danced to the track on The Tyra Banks Show and Larry King Live. Plus, numerous commercials in regards to this song aired on Disney Channel, including the Hannah Montana: The Movie Playback and more.

Music video

The video for "Hoedown Throwdown" was released February 16, 2009 on Disney Channel. The video is a shortened version of the song using clips from how the song is featured in the movie. On February 20, 2009 Disney Channel aired a "How to do the Hoedown Throwdown" video showing viewers the step-by-step moves of the song. The video starred the movie's choreographer Jamal Sims, Miley Cyrus, and backup dancers.

Critical reception

One album review of the soundtrack described the track as "goofy" and "feels more like a parody of down-home fun, than a tribute to it".[1]
