Famous for its large green areas, parks, monuments, prestigious department stores, boutiques, K-fe's, Holiday Chocolate, exclusive restaurants, etc. Referral required from the south. Sub-center serves as the main town of the city and its area of influence covers almost all of the Benito Juárez. Colonia del Valle means the perimeter between the streets of north Viaducto Miguel Alemán, Cuauhtémoc and Universidad Avenue to the east, Circuito Interior Rio Mixcoac south and Insurgentes Avenue in the west.

Origin and development

Buildings of the Colonia del Valle

The beginning of the 20th century initiated the splitting of the ranches cultivated with alfalfa and fruit trees, giving rise to the area, named as Colonia Americana. These farms were the most popular and loved, Tlacoquemécatl (where is located the Chapel of the Good Lord Firm and its famous and beautiful park), Santa Anita and San Borja. Some neighborhood streets are named after these ranchos and its fruit trees, as well as Mexican philanthropists.

While working as a streetcar route from the Mexico City to Coyoacán, it had slow development until 1920, when it expanded and the Avenida de los Insurgentes was paved. It started huge home and mansion construction. That marked the development of the area, to which was added monument construction and green areas. One is the current Park Sunk {Parque Hundido}.

In the 1960's the area was fully developed as many other neighborhoods of equal purchasing power laying on its borders. It was inevitable to have commercial development. They included two major events, the opening of Liverpool Insurgentes in 1962 and the first shopping center in the country, University Plaza, in 1969.

In 1978, the decision to build the road axes transformed the neighborhood radically and permanently from once quiet streets, to the river of asphalt, shafts (ejes) 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 south crossing from east to west and 1, 2 and 3 do west from south to north. This resulted in many families looking for quieter places to live and began the inexorable process of redeveloping the land. Where there were mansions built, apartment buildings, or in their absence offices or schools.

Architecture

Among the architectural style that developed in the colony is large mansions in style Colonial California Art Deco (and to a lesser extent)), surviving examples of Porfiriato. At the end of the decade of the 60's start a fiber construction of small skyscrapers, both trade and departments, which cause the area is one of the most densely populated of the Mexico City as well as housing complexes, such as the Assembly President Miguel Urbano German.

Currently, the diversity of architectural styles and the amount of population still developing, they converge in the project to recover household spaces and family activities in the colony, since the large amount of construction four-storey building on land originally was a bedroom houses have been of some interest to the building despite the economic crisis facing the country.

The religious architecture found in the Del Valle includes The parish of the Most Pure Heart of Mary, at the corner of Gabriel Mancera number 415, between North Division and Light Saviñon next to the park Mariscal Sucre whose construction was carried out during the first half of the 20th century, and it was filmed in 1996, several scenes of the film Romeo and Juliet starring Leonardo Di Caprio, also said that in this parish was baptized Mexican singer Luis Miguel The Good Lord Parish Office, located in the Park Tlacoquemécatl on the street corner pillars Adolfo Prieto, same as his first buildings date from the 16th century, Temple Santo Tomás Actipan located at the confluence of the streets of Buffalo and Tiger, their construction is the year of 1897, the Temple of San Lorenzo Xochimanca that is located in the park of the same name and its construction dates from the 16th century, Temple of Santa Monica, which is located at No. 126 Strawberry Street, opposite the park of San Lorenzo and its construction began in 1962 and the Parish of Divine Providence that is located in Street Adolfo Prieto number 1559 with the street corner of Parish and its construction took place from 1968 to 1974.
