Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University(M. J. P. Rohilkhand University) is a public university located in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, India. 154 colleges are affiliated to the university and approximately two lac students enroll every year for examinations. The University has taken an overall perspective of development plan. The university headquarters is located at Bareilly with its territorial jurisdiction extending over the districts of Bareilly, Moradabad, Rampur, Bijnore, Jyotibaphule Nagar, Baduan, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Noida and Sitapur. The administrative block (head-quarter) is situated at outskirt of Bareilly city along side of Pilibhit bypass road.


History

It was established in 1975 as an affiliating University.It was carved out of the then Agra University as there was a dire need to establish a separate university since the region has a lower literacy rate compared to the national average. Its status was upgraded to affiliating cum residential University in 1985 when four teaching departments were established in the campus. In 1987 three more Departments were added. In August 1997, the university was renamed as Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University.

Infrastructure

The University campus is spread over 206-acre (0.83 km2). The Campus possesses administrative building, faculty buildings, Central Library, Multipurpose hall, four hostels for boys & girls, Staff quarters for the Vice-Chancellor and other officers of the University, faculty members and Non-teaching staff; Guest houses, a Sports complex, a medical center and a temple.

The senior faculty members of Humanities, Science and Technology run research projects funded by agencies. 49 projects, funded by UGC, AICTE, DST, CST, ICAR, ICHR, MIF, have been completed. Teachers of the affiliated college are also engaged in research projects funded by the above agencies.

Many of the pass-out students are working with many reputed companies like Infosys, TCS, Wipro, HCL, IBM, Oracle, HP, Cadence, ST Microelectronics, BHEL, Nokia, Siemens, Tata Motors, SBI, Deutsche Bank, ICICI Bank, RBS and ministries of Government of India and many more. They are located all across the country as well as outside the country. Although due to geographical location the campus recruitment is very less, but still alumni have made their place into lots of reputed companies like few mentioned above by giving a commendable tough competition to students from all over the country in off-campus drives.
