Aurangabad is a city and a municipality in Aurangabad district in the state of Bihar, India. Aurangabad (pop. 79,351[citation needed]) is the district headquarters of the Aurangabad district. It is situated on the Grand Trunk Road. The people of this region primarily speak Magahi. Due to lack of industrialization, people are still mainly dependent upon agriculture and related activities. Rice and wheat are the main crops produced here.

History

Aurangabad name is derived from a small place aurangabad town masjid were auranzeb statyed for some days in mid of the 16th century . Aurangabad district came into existence in 1974 were it was seperated from the Gaya district in Independent India.

In Ancient India this place is denoted by Gaya in Mauyran Period came under the Empire of Magadh.The Magadh region was one of the oldest and strongest empires of the world in the Ancient period and its boundaries (600-250 BC) spread across to parts of the (now present) countries of Burma, Pakistan, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, apart from India. This was the region about which Megasthenes (3rd Century BC), a Greek writer, traveller and scholar wrote with much awe and inspiration about his empire and the people .

After Mauryan this was ruled by chandravanshi Rajput as Mauryan were also Chandravanshi .The royal estate for rule was Umgaa it is situated near by Madanpur Block, Umgaa hills famous for seven surya mandir similar as built in Dev, by the same ruler.the last chandravanshi ruler was Raja Bhairavendra in early of the 16th century(Mughal Period). Later , it was ruled by the sisodia of Mewar region and in 17th century teh umgaa estate was sifted to dev were new Place establised by sisodia king Raja Prabil Singh founded the fort in late 17th century situated near the great ancient sun temple.Dev Estate was founded by Sisodiya ruler,the Saktawat (Bhanawat) clan of Ranavansh Sisodia Rajput. The region was completely ruled by Umgaa Estate of chandrawanshi rajput in early of 16th century. In present it is situated near by Madanpur block situated along with National.Highway-2. the place has it own importance as it is junction point for connecting east india by grant trunck route (G.T.Road NH-2)

The last ruler of Chadravanshi rajpoot of umgaa estate was Raja Bhairwendra singh. Raja Bhairwendra handed all his power of Etate to sisodia rajpoot of in 1620 a.d.As Raja bhairwendra was not having son he was only having daughter,name princess bhasyawati . Actually elder son of Rana Sakti Singh , king Rana Rao Bhan singh son's sahatramal singh came to Umgaa Riyasat at evening for pilgrimage visit at Holy Gaya after and stay outside the premises of umgaa Estate .

Dev Known for greatest divine surya mandir prepared by viswakarma bhagwan is very old known of vedic era. Formerly, dev was under governance of Umga Estate famous for sapta surya mandir(seven temples of surya mandir ) six out of seven fall one is remaining .Earlier, the governance control over the three district Aurangabad , palamu , chatra. Later raja prabil singh shifted capital to dev.The last ruler of Chadravanshi Rajpoot of Umgaa Estate was Raja Bhairwendra singh. Raja Bhairwendra handed all his power of Estate to Sisodia Rajpoot in 1620 A.D. After married her daughter to Sahatramaal Singh son of Rana Rao Bhan Singh ruler of Bainsroregarh northern state of Mewar conquered by Rana Sakti Singh after the battle of Haldighati in the 1577 a.d..

As Raja bhairwendra was not having son he was only having daughter,name princess bhasyawati . Actually, elder son of Rana Sakti Singh , king Rana Rao Bhan singh son's Sahatramal singh came across to Umgaa Riyasat at evening for pilgrimage visit at Holy Gaya and decided to stay outside the premises of Umgaa Estate when Raja bhairwendra known that prince of Royal family had stay nearby his royal palace. He send his personnel’s to invite them to night stay on his palace . As Riyasat Umgaa was surrounded by This decedous forest fear with tiger and fearers animals . there personnel’s requested on behalf of Sahatramal singh to their along brothers and associate “ not to stay outside due to safety reason tiger come at night “.

They refused the proposal of king Bairawendra singh and remain outside . Luckily, Tiger came at knight and attacked on them they killed them bravely with their safety sords and put as pillow and bed take a good sleep till next morning.When the royal guard came early in the early in the morning to look after them the see the dead tiger below their head as a pillow . the guard reported all the knight event to Raja Bhairvendra . the raja without and delay came to meet the brave persons. He asked about them. They introduced as the son of Rana Rao Bhan singh and grand son of Rana Sakti Singh, king of bainsroregard jagir of the Udaipur region of Mewar .their bravery inspired the king bhairvendra . the king invited rana bhanji to married his son sahatramaal singh with her daughter Bhasyavati (pani grahan sanskar). After married he handed over all the power and declared as the king of umga . The king who ruled the Estate Umga late shifted to dev the divine sura temple khown for the chatth puja were sisodiya after last King Bhairavendra handed to son in law Rana Sahatramaal singh.

Aurangabad is called as the Chittore of Bihar .As the region is highly populated by the Rajpoots. This is the land of Rajpoots who have struggle the odds of Mughals, Brithishers , Naxalites.60% of the population is of Rajpoot. The Rajput clan are Chouhans,Chandarvanshi (somwanshi) ,Sishodia(Ranavansh) , Rathore, Parmar, Bais (shirmour), Ahirwar. Out of them the chouhans are densely populated, Sishodia are in Second Desly Populated. As Dev Riyasat was govrned by Sisodia and respected among all Rajpoot because of being Mewari . Local People called sisodia as mariyadi. The villages of Sisodia Rajpoots are-Dev, Umgaa ,Riyasat Ghatrain, Rankappi, Bania, Mahuawaan,Aajan ,Pemaa, Baarah,dadhpa,Panchokhar,Berhni,khargdiha, katayia,ketaki, basdihaa, bahuaraa,sadkaar,.It is also the birth place of premier leader Satyendra Narayan Singh affectionately called Chhote Saheb, who was also a participant in the Indian independence movement,and a former Chief Minister of Bihar.

Aurangabad got its name from one of the kings of the Mughal dynasty, Aurangzeb. The blocks; Daudnagar, Dev and Kutumba are great historical places. There is a need to explore these places in a broader way. While Daudnagar is surrounded by Qila's (Forts) of mughal era, Dev has a historical temple of Lord Sun which attracts a lot of devotees from all over India and Kutumba is related with one of king who's kingdom was not expanded its ruling area in more broader way. The fort of Sher Shah Suri, the Mughal king, near Sasaram attracts lot of historians and visitors. Famous Grand Trunk Road (NH - 2), starting from Kabul in Afghanistan and ends at Calcutta in West Bengal, built by Sher Shah Suri crosses through Aurangabad.It is a clean and peaceful city,Situated on the bank of river Adari, having 2 cinema halls, 1 Town Hall, and some good market complexes. Some old colonies in the Aurangabad town are Club road, Nawadih road, Block, Police line, Ahari.The roads condition is always optimal. The railway station is 10 km away from the city and the name of the railway station is Anugrah Narayan Road. It has a large government hospital in a good position with a capacity of hundreds of people. The city has TV Station, Mobile, Landline and Internet connectivity. There are a lots of school and colleges in the city and the district.However, the famous Gate school holds the same grand reputation as ever. This school was built at the time of British government and is now called Anugrah Inter College in the memory of great nationalist Bihar Vibhuti Dr Anugrah Narayan Sinha;the first Deputy Chief Minister & Finance Minister Of Bihar.

Geography

Aurangabad is located at 24°45′N 84°22′E / 24.75°N 84.37°E / 24.75; 84.37.[1] It has an average elevation of 108 metres (354 feet).

In EastBodh Gaya is Situated . Bodh Gaya is an International Place which has Its Own Importance for tourism. Aurangabad is 70 K.M from Bodh Gaya. Tn South teur is border of Bihar and Jharkhand Estate seperated by Umgaa Hills , Sherrgahati, Katta range Mountain and forest.

Aurangabad has an average literacy rate of 72.77%, lower than the national average of 74.04%; with 82.52% of the males and 62.05% of females literate. 17.44% of the population is under 6 years of
