Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express

Guwahati/Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express is one of the premier train in the exclusive fleet of Rajdhani Expresses of Indian Railways. Currently there are three set of Rajdhani Express which connects New Delhi (Capital of India) with Guwahati and Dibrugarh.

Trains

The three set of Guwahati/Dibrugarh Town Rajdhani Express are:

12423/12424 Guwahati/Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express

runs six days a week on Monday,Tuesday,Wednesday,Thursday,Friday,Saturday (New Delhi-Guwahati/Dibrugarh 12424 down) and Sunday,Monday,Wednesday,Thursday,Friday,Saturday (Guwahati/Dibrugarh-New Delhi 12423 up). [Departs on Saturday,Sunday,Tuesday,Wednesday,Thursday and Friday from Dibrugarh]

This train takes 37 hours and 55 mins to travel 2443 km from Dibrugarh(DBRT) to New-Delhi(NDLS) and 27 hours 5 mins to travel 1879 km from Guwahati(GHY) to New Delhi and vice versa.The train runs at an average speed of around 70 km/h. The train belongs to Northern Railways division of the Indian Railways.

The train is composed of following coaches:

1A - 1(H-1,NDLS-DBRT and vice versa): 2A - 3(A-1/A-2,NDLS-GHY;A-3,NDLS-DBRT and vice versa): 3A - 10(B-1 to B-8,NDLS-GHY;B-9 and B-10,NDLS-DBRT and vice versa): PC - 2(PC-1,NDLS-GHY;PC-2,NDLS-DBRT and vice versa): GEN Van - 2. Total length: 18 coaches. This is considered to be the best Rajdhani amongst the three and takes the minimum time possible to cover the distance.It runs through Kanpur, Allahabad, Mughal Sarai, Patna, Barauni, Katihar, Kishanganj, New Jalpaiguri, Coochbehar, Kokrajhar, New Bongaigaon, Guwahati, Lumding, Diphu, Dimapur, Mariani, New Tinsukia to Dibrugarh. Departure from New Delhi for 2424 down is 14:00 hr and reaches Guwahati at 17:20 hr. Stoppage at Guwahati is for 45 min.

On the return journey 2423 departs Dibrugarh at 20:15 and reaches Guwahati at 6:15 next morning and after a 50 min halt, it leaves for New Delhi at 7:05 to reach New Delhi at 10:10 next day stopping at the above mentioned stoppages.

The Locomotives used for this train are:

New Delhi-Barauni: WAP-4 from Ghaziabad/Kanpur/Mugal Sarai/Howrah electric loco shed. Barauni-Guwahati: WDP-4 from Silliguri Diesel Loco Shed. Guwahati-Dibrugarh: WDM-2A from New Guwahati Diesel Loco Shed.

Same combination for the return journey. This train has a reversal at Barauni Junction.This train is the most preferred Rajdhani of the three and demand is very high for this train.The best train between NDLS-GHY route. Food provided at good if not best.The Train runs on new LHB rakes.

2435/2436 Guwahati/Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express

2435/2436 runs bi-weekly on Sunday and Thursday(New Delhi-Guwahati/Dibrugarh 2436 down) and on Tuesday and Saturday(Guwahati/Dibrugarh - New Delhi 2435 up) [ Departs Monday and Friday from Dibrugarh] This train takes 44 hours and 55 mins to travel 2463 km from New Delhi to Dibrugarh and it takes 33 hours and 30 mins to travel 1899 km from New Delhi to Guwahati and vice versa. This train runs at an average speed of 59 km/h. This train belongs to Northern Railways division of the Indian Railway.

The train is composed of following coaches:

1A - 1(H-1,NDLS-DBRT and vice versa): 2A - 3(A-1/A-2,NDLS-GHY;A-3,NDLS-DBRT and vice versa): 3A - 10(B-1 to B-8,NDLS-GHY;B-9 and B-10,NDLS-DBRT and vice versa): PC - 2(PC-1,NDLS-GHY;PC-2,NDLS-DBRT and vice versa): GEN Van - 2. Total length: 18 coaches.

This is not that much preferable train as it takes 6 more hours then 2423/2424. The train doesn't run on high speed tracks as compared to its counter part 2423/2424 and it also takes more time then Purvottar Sampark Kranti Express. But what so ever being in the category of Rajdhani Express, this train gets the importance. It runs via Moradabad,Bareilly,Lucknow,Varanasi,Chhapra,Hajipur,Barauni,Katihar,Kishenganj,New Jalpaiguri,Coochbehar,New Alipuduar,Kokrajhar,New Bongaigaon,Guwahati,Lumding,Diphu,Dimapur,Mariani,New Tinisukia to Dibrugarh. Departure from New Delhi for 2436 is 9:30(Sunday & Thursday) and reaches Guwahati on 19:00 next day. After 45 min halt at Guwahati it leaves for Dibrugarh at 19:45 with five coaches and arrives at 6:25 next morning.

On the return journey 2435 departs Dibrugarh at 19:00(Monday and Friday) and arrives Guwahati at 5:05 next morning and departs for New Delhi at 5:55 after attaching the remaining 13 coaches(Tuesday and Saturday) and with the above mentioned stoppages arrives New Delhi at 13:45 next day.

The locos used for this train are:

New Delhi-Barauni: WDM-3A from Tughlakabad Diesel Loco Shed; Barauni-Guwahati: WDP-4 from Silliguri Diesel Loco Shed; Guwahati-Dibrugarh: WDM-2A from New Guwahati Loco Shed.

Same combination for the return journey. This train is uni-directional and there is no reversal. Being a Rajdhani the train has its demands as on Tuesday this is the only rajdhani running. This runs on latest LHB coaches.

2235/2236 Guwahati/Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express

2235/2236 is the latest introduced Rajdhani Express which runs on every Wednesday 9:30 from New Delhi and reaches Guwahati on Thursday 19:00(2236) and on return journey it departs from Guwahati on Friday at 5:55 to reach New Delhi on Saturday at 13:45. This train belongs to Northern Railways of Indian Railways and it runs on new LHB Rakes. This train starts and terminates at Guwahati but talks are there to extend it to Dibrugarh.
