Revision in "List of Mobile Phone Makers by Country"

Hello Biker Biker,

Good job for removing those companies that are already inactive in making phone.

I have already gotten those info from Wikipedia article(s). What else do you want?

I highly suggest that before you delete my revision, read first the article then verify them in the source link. You're one the custodians of Wikipedia right? Then why can't you update the article of the companies in this site? Examples: Thomson, AEG, and Modu are already defunct, but when I checked their official websites, they're still alive and kicking. Another thing is Fujitsu and Siemens made a joint venture just like Sony Ericsson and the headquarters is in Munich Germany while Thomson came back as a brand of Technicolor SA and resumed making the same products including mobile phones. Thomson, AEG, Telefunken, Grundig, and other big companies that I posted here are manufacturers of mobile phones just check their websites. Cartier manufactures luxury phones unlike Louis Vuitton, Versace, Gucci, Tag Heuer, etc. that work with ModeLabs Group to make phones under their brand names. Please, don't rely too much on the article here, but also check their official websites.

Valentino Rossi

There are several sources about my three edits that you reverted, including Wikipedia. Anyway, most of such sources are in Italian, as Valentino is. Unfortunately, I don't know how to add references, so I'll list them here.

By the way, there are three [citation needed] in that same section, you could have added the same to my three edits instead of deleting them. --Abacos (talk) 17:57, 8 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I won against my laziness and added some of the links above. --Abacos (talk) 18:10, 8 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

What you added was trivia that has no relation to the subject in question. Would you post on every single article for someone called Smith that "actually Smith is the most common name in England"? The article is about a motorcyclist. Etymology and orthography belong elsewhere because they have absolutely nothing to do with him or his profession. --Biker Biker (talk) 19:36, 8 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm seeing original research here too. The quoted sources don't directly state the conclusions written into the article. The conclusion was supplied by the Wikipedia editor via deduction. And even then, the the underlying logic is in error. Rossi could be both the most common doctor's name in Italy, and the most common name overall, or the reverse could be true. The two facts are orthogonal and that's probably why no source says "however Rossi is the most common Italian name" in response to his joke about doctors. In addition to all that, citing an open Wiki like it.wikipedia doesn't work, and even if it did, the cited page doesn't argue that the list of Italian names is comprehensive, so no conclusion can be drawn from the number of Rossis on the list.

Finally, please see Wikipedia:Citation needed: "Controversial, poorly-sourced claims in biographies of living people should be deleted immediately." Merely tagging with {{tl:Citation needed}} is insufficient. The other uncited statements should be deleted, not compounded with more poorly sourced claims. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 19:52, 8 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for all the trouble, I didn't see your explanations until now. Now I understand, I see your points and agree with it. I'll stop. I was in good faith, I thought that I was adding details. Thanks again for the explanations. Cheers. --Abacos (talk) 20:29, 11 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, if you can help me avoiding original research in the future, can you explain me one thing? I understood that my edits were out of place, but I'm still not sure how I did an original research: the Gens website lists the ten most common surnames in Italy after an analysis of all the surnames, although it is all in Italian. Where is my error? Because, since you labeled this website (or the reference to it) as "original research", there must be an error somewhere. I'm just trying to learn. Thanks in advance. --Abacos (talk) 20:43, 11 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ducati 1198 Slipper Clutch revision

Hi Biker Biker,

I own a Ducati 1198 S and I know it doesnt come with a slipper clutch. Only the 1198 R and the later model 1198 SP comes with the slipper clutch. The old wikipedia page showed incorrectly that the 1198 S comes with the slipper clutch, therefore I updated it, only to see that you undid my correction, stating that there is no reference provided. I am new to wikipedia and I dont know how to add a reference however I am hoping that you can do it for me.

http://www.moto123.com/motorcycle-reviews/article,2009-ducati-1198-preview.spy?artid=103408 ie second last paragrph states... "the only non standard item that should be standard, a slipper clutch, will set you back another couple of grand."

Bandung Majalengka International Airport

Well, thanks for your feedback. I'm deleting one sections of Bandung Majalengka International Airport (Airlines and Destination) because it is really nonsense. How can that an airport that even haven't been built (0% progress) has already "airlines and destination" thing? To be honest, as an Indonesian people who sometimes travel to Bandung, that airport just still on the "plan". Please delete the section because I saw you rollback my editing. RaymondSutanto (talk) 12:30, 18 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If you had explained that in your edit summary instead of saying "nonsense" it would have saved a lot of trouble. Feel free to remove the section with a proper edit summary. Thanks. --Biker Biker (talk) 12:34, 18 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Nah, now you can re-remove the section because 1) You are the one who rollback it, and 2) I don't know how to shortened my explanation above... RaymondSutanto (talk) 16:04, 18 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Calm down

Thank you for patrolling and reverting all my edits, but your vigilancy is not needed. I'm a very seasoned editor (many YEARS older than you) able to correct all my little mistakes by myself). In fact, I always return to my previous edits with improvements. Cheers, 93.72.146.196 (talk) 17:02, 18 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Kiddo, you're about to be reported for stalking and revert warring(. Please calm down. 93.72.146.196 (talk) 17:13, 18 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
This is the problem with Google Translate. I pasted in "many YEARS older than you" and it said "I'm 12 years old." Can that be right? --Dennis Bratland (talk) 17:36, 18 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Clarification

Thanks for the message. I actually do want to follow the rules. I know the subject of this article as I am interested in the custom motorcycle shops in Los Angeles. I am not affiliated with the subjects or any shop, although I vaguely know most of the shop owners around time. I read all the custom mags and surf the net. I've noticed some pages on the subjects that miss information or state mis information. How would you suggest I edit this article or any other I become interested in, without getting into these issues? I'd appreciate your thoughts, you clearly have much more experience than I do. The last part of the message you sent me sounded like a threat - do you mean I shouldn't edit that page? I'd like to, my interest hasn't waned. But I'd like to do it in a way that you and the other editors can respect. I'd appreciate it if you could please explain to me what specifically you would like to see me do differently so that you don't undo every change I make. Clean intentions from this direction. Thanks. HaeckelLight (talk) 00:06, 19 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Definitely not a threat if there is no conflict of interest. But right now that's what it looks like. I appreciate the clarification. --Biker Biker (talk) 07:52, 19 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Image Vespa 946

Hi, thi image "Vespa 946" in Vespa 946 is not a copyright violation, I have the permission of User "DJ Wolf" from vespaforum.de. You can look here, where DJ Wolf says "gladly done" http://www.vespaforum.de/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=20408 to my "Thanks to DJ Wolf for his spontaneous help with images!" - I have the permission to use DJ Wolfs images in the Wikipedia. Could you please undo your action. --Zylinderkopf (talk) 21:06, 19 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

See the section "Granting us permission to copy material already online" at WP:DCP. DJ Wolf will need to irrevocably grant permission using the OTRS system. --Biker Biker (talk) 21:12, 19 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The other option is to get him to put a post in the forum thread where the image is displayed - in German is fine - stating something like "I give permission for this image to be used under xxx licence", where xxx is something like CC-BY-SA or another licence he is happy to use. Then you simply link to that forum post. --Biker Biker (talk) 05:18, 20 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, here is my permission: http://www.vespaforum.de/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=20401 What is my next step? Should I go to commons.wikimedia.org and request undeletion? --Zylinderkopf (talk) 21:39, 20 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
If you weren't able to follow the instructions suggested in the link above, Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials, I'd not worry about it. Just let it go. It's a lot of effort to go to for one very poor quality Wikipedia photo. When the model takes up as much of the frame as the bike, it's not a very useful illustration. There are a round of bike shows that tour the US in December after big events like EICMA, so in only a few weeks we will have our pick of many, many photos of the new bikes. But if you're really motivated, click on Biker Biker's links and read the instructions. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 22:24, 20 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I hope that someone will take photos from the 946 for Wikipedia. --Zylinderkopf (talk) 13:08, 28 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
yes, hopefully they will. It's a good looking bike. --Biker Biker (talk) 13:34, 28 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

List of wikis

It's a possibility that the edits to the list of wikis are being made by a stalker of mine, not necessarily because the account gives a crap about the article names. Equally possible is it's a coincidence and I'm really narcissistic. I agree it's a dumb edit war, but I don't know how much good faith to give the account. November 2012

Hi Biker Biker,

the resource link is from Notify Corp. and it´s an internal link. where did you get it? Are you allowed to use it in wiki?

we are a big company and many colleagues in my department say your "Mobile Device Management" edit in wiki distorts competition.

Gartner write: A leading vendor is not a default choice for all buyers, and clients are warned not to assume that they should buy only from the Leaders quadrant. -Page 23 from Gartner Research-

Furthermore, there are several research results worldwide from various research firms.

Please, Biker Biker list all of MDM Companies or none.

Best Regards

sgates05 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sgates05 (talkcontribs) 21:05, 25 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

So you have both a conflict of interest and professional jealousy? Is that why you are editing using two different accounts? Feel free to add properly sourced, third party analysis which shows who leading vendors are, but Wikipedia is not a directory WP:NOTDIR, nor is it an indiscriminate collection of information WP:IINFO, so please don't list every single vendor. If a reputable source like Gartner says these are notable companies then they are OK to be listed. --Biker Biker (talk) 21:16, 25 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

McLaren MP4-12C

Hi,

Nice to meet with you and I would like to mention about my correction on McLaren MP4-12C's engine information. After the recent revision on ECU, the engine now produces 625 HP or 460 KW (616 BHP) according to their official website and this information is confirmed by their London dealer.

I revised the information and it was amended by you. I know one HP does not sound that much but I would like to correct a minor mistake. And I know on everywhere it was mentioned 626 HP, sounds a bit contradiction however people I know from McLaren also confirmed the horsepower.

Best — Preceding unsigned comment added by Can.kilic1981 (talkcontribs) 15:05, 28 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have noticed that my change is ignored again :( Did you have chance to check McLaren's website? 02:55, 29 November 2012 (UTC)

Secondary sources (e.g. reputable trade press) are preferred to primary sources (e.g. the manufacturer's own website). The fact that there is a 1hp difference is neither here nor there. --Biker Biker (talk) 07:30, 29 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the explanation :) However, these results are provided by the manufacturer therefore I changed the number. I know 1 HP is nothing but I wanted to keep the information accurate. Also, I agree with you with reputable trade press but Autocar did not put the MP4-12C into dynometre to measure the HP, therefore it is not totally correct.Can.kilic1981 (talk) 14:55, 3 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Three cylinder engines in tractors

Well do YOU have a specific "reliable source" on that two cylinder engines are very common in motorcycles?
