Emraan Hashmi

Hi Dharmadhyaksha! Just wanted to inform you that 3 users (including me) have agreed with your idea to merge the List of awards and nominations received by Emraan Hashmi into his main article. Infobox photo consensus discussion

Hi. Can you offer your opinion on which photo is more appropriate for the Infobox in the Scott Allie article in this discussion? You don't need to know anything about Allie; I'm contacting you because you've worked on Featured Pictures. I tried contacting lots of editors who work on comics-related articles, but every time I do so, we wind up with the sentiments split down the middle, and no clear consensus. I'm thinking perhaps that people who work on matters dealing with photography might be able to offer viewpoints that yield a consensus. Thank you. Nightscream (talk) 15:33, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, From what you have said on your own page perhaps you would rather not get another message but your work on the Rani's article has improved it, especially the new statue picture with the Rani and her son. Since it is in Commons it will be easy to include it in WP articles in other languages.--Felix Folio Secundus (talk) 03:34, 11 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! But the page is still horrible. Will try to clean it sometime. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 09:48, 11 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It has become much better since the version of September 2012; it needs some work by an editor able to consult the most relevant books. However the account by Allen Copsey includes information about the different views of their authors and Michael Edwardes based his book Red Year on both British and Indian sources unlike the earlier British writers on the subject.--Felix Folio Secundus (talk) 22:56, 11 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Well... i wont be getting any of those books. So i will just clean it in general. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 03:21, 12 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Name query

Is Randeva an alternate transliteration of Randhawa? I rather think that it might be. - Sitush (talk) 18:31, 2 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hm. I've just read your collapsed box above. I hope that the query above is (a) suitably brief and (b) 21st- rather than 16th-century in style. <g> Chin up! - Sitush (talk) 18:35, 2 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No problem... i don't mind answering this one.
I think they both refer to same names... just variations in pronunciation as well as spelling both in English/Indian language. If you see Help:IPA for Hindi and Urdu, there are small variations in "n", "ɳ" and "ŋ" and also "d̪", "d̪ʱ", "ɖ" and "ɖʱ". Our word over here hence has many combinations and permutations. We have an article on Karishma Randhawa who i see is quite widely being referred to as Randeva also in many fan forums. But this one case shouldn't make it a rule. There are chances that they are actually different. Its mostly like Chaudhary, Chowdhary, Chaudhari, Chowdhury, etc. where spellings have mostly changed per region or simply personal choice. I don't think one can distinguish these also easily now. Another simpler example would be "Chauhan", which is the way it is used in Norther India, especially Rajasthan. (You must have come across it in your Rajput cleanups.) "Chavan" on the other hand is quite popular surname in Maharashtra. They probably are father and son (not respectively), but you notice that a person not so keen about language or just by habit may interchange these two.
I don't think this has been of any good help... but i guess no one can be in this case. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 03:49, 3 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You have hit the nail on the head there. Someone claiming to be Karishma Randhawa/Randeva has contacted me asking for that article to be renamed. I did some research and while Randeva is used quite a lot in the context of her, Randhawa is much, much more frequently used in English sources on Google. There might still be scope for sidestepping the basic requirements of WP:COMMONNAME (BLP has all sorts of implications, for example) but I really need to understand the motives for requesting the change. I have asked her if she is willing to explain those reasons to me, privately if necessary.

Your explanation has been of immense help, thanks. Aside from elaborating on the general issues of transliteration etc, it eliminates some basic reasons why she might want the title to be changed (eg: because she has legally changed her name). Great stuff, and much appreciated. - Sitush (talk) 16:57, 3 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Oh! I had'nt checked the history of that article. Luckily picked that example. And you are welcome. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 03:26, 4 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Dharmadhyaksha, I want to change the sources (dead links) of the awards sections with links that work but the only link for BJFA awards I find is gomolo. I also don't know where it is a reliable source. Do you know whether it is a reliable source and can be used in the article? Tolly4bolly 19:17, 13 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Gomolo is not considered as the best source. But it has been used many a times for verifying some facts. Depends on what kind of article it is. If its something like Pran's biography (published especially after his win of DPA) then i wouldn't consider that as the best source. There are chances that Wikipedia itself has been their source. You see, until now Yamla Jat was a 1945 film per our article. And thats why it appears so in Times of India's print edition of 13th April. In case the gomolo article is a list of winners of that year, we can have that as a reference for sure. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 04:52, 14 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not attack other editors [2]. Comment on content, not on contributors. Personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Please stay cool and keep this in mind while editing. Thank you. Leaky Caldron 10:10, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

What part of it was attack? §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 12:29, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
All of it, against me and the other editor. You are implying bias on our part against editors from a particular location. Such wholly unfounded accusations are covered by the first section of WP:WIAPA. Leaky Caldron 12:37, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
@Leaky_caldron Calling the comments of other editors as utter crap was very decent[3]. --sarvajna (talk) 17:56, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
And it wasn't me who at first linked editors with their country wise editing preferences. (Also note that i did not imply you were biased against editors of a particular location. That's quite different than what i said.) §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 03:28, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I have made no association between editors and their country of origin. My single reference to nationality was "The entire subject is notable and you being in the huff because your article about the death of an Indian politician being deleted plays no part in the decision on the title of this subject." An editor had asked about "a recent politician in India whose funeral was one of the biggest in recent history, Mumbai a city of ten million and the state of Maharashtra (100 million) ground to a halt while the body lay in repose, yet Wikipedia considered that the event wasn't notable enough for a separate article. I was wondering why the death of Thatcher and the funeral is notable to have an article of its own? The article was created and the Afd decided that it be deleted. Oh a seven km long cortege isn't notable?" I answered that the manner in which the WP:GNG policy applied to the Thatcher article was appropriate. You said "Well.... your dear friend Leaky Caldron has already made it sufficiently clear above that the inflow of India-related editors is because of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Death of Bal Thackeray. By saying it again and again are your propaganda techniques based on Big Lie? And is it that you don't wish India-related editors or any non-Britain-related editors to voice their opinion here?" That is a clear accusation of nationality-based bias. I suggest you examine your inaccurate, fact twisting denial above and admit that you have made wholly unsubstantiated and bad faith claims. Leaky Caldron 10:52, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I never said that you associated editors with countries. I have said, "it wasn't me who at first linked editors with their country". §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 11:15, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
So what does "Well.... your dear friend Leaky Caldron has already made it sufficiently clear above that the inflow of India-related editors is because of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Death of Bal Thackeray.". Liar. Leaky Caldron 11:47, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Read it again, he said I never said that you associated editors with countries. I have said, "it wasn't me who at first linked editors with their country".--sarvajna (talk) 12:24, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not interested in YOUR interpretation. I want him to explain the discrepancy between his denial and the statement that I have copied above. I suggest you keep out of it. Leaky Caldron 12:28, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
LC, Sarvajna is right in highlighting the key points of my statements. I still stand by my statement that "it wasn't me who at first linked editors with their country". §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 14:42, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Nor was it me. Your dishonest misrepresentation of your own statement, which I have highlighted above, is reprehensible. You are an editor to avoid. I am minded to refer your behaviour for Admin. consideration and will sleep on it. I suggest you reflect on your words and clarify exactly who you are aiming your false accusation at. Leaky Caldron 15:44, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Well calling the comment of other editors as crap and threatening me by saying I suggest you keep out of it is all you have got? I am sure you can do better. Even a child can see that you are the first person to make comments about nationality(I am not saying that there anything wrong with your comment) The entire subject is notable and you being in the huff because your article about the death of an Indian politician being deleted plays no part in the decision on the title of this subject. Leaky Caldron 15:01, 19 April 2013 (UTC)(emphasis added) and Dharmadhyaksha just stated what you said also it would be dishonest to miss the comments that were made by other editors before Dharmadhyaksha's comment. An editor said I did not explicitly say so above. Note that User:Yogesh Khandke appears to have been canvassing opinion, including requesting a fellow editor AfD this article to which DD replied Note the dates. That discussion was a few days before the day this move was requested. If deletion was intentions, which logically can not be achieved with a move request, a move request would never have been made. Putting such irrelevant notes is playing foul..There was again a comment from the other editor It strikes me as odd the amount of people who are coming here to !vote whose main interest is in Indian subjects(emphasis added) to which DD replied Well.... your dear friend Leaky Caldron has already made it sufficiently clear above that the inflow of India-related editors is because of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Death of Bal Thackeray. By saying it again and again are your propaganda techniques based on Big Lie? And is it that you don't wish India-related editors or any non-Britain-related editors to voice their opinion here?. I hope you have read those comments and you deliberately did not miss them. --sarvajna (talk) 17:03, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I made an accurate comment about the nationality of a dead Indian politician who's article was deleted. That in no way amounts to making a reference about the nationality of particular editors or the "inflow of India-related editors" to the Thatcher article. I have made no such inference, insinuation or statement. You've picked on the wrong editor to make false claims of racist behaviour I'm afraid. Again, I suggest YOU keep out of it since my dispute is with the talk page user and your constant interference is as annoying as it is unhelpful. Leaky Caldron 17:17, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict)If you feel that i should be avoided then please do that. I am not overly delighted to converse with you either. Sarvajna; thanks; has now put down all points in front of you. If you still fail to comprehend any substance from them, i don't think me talking more on it will help you. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 17:22, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
AGAIN!!! I never accused YOU of any racist behaviour. Its you who assumed that the comment was meant for you. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 17:31, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You have completely failed to justify this remark: "Well.... your dear friend Leaky Caldron has already made it sufficiently clear above that the inflow of India-related editors is because of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Death of Bal Thackeray.". Unfortunately the discussion about moving the Thatcher article has been closed otherwise I would have struck your disgraceful remark using (Personal attack removed). Your friend is as bad as you, dishonest and evasive. Leaky Caldron 17:34, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

What the hell is racist about that? Your failure to comprehend simple statements has left me nothing much to say here. Dishonest, crap, evasive. Grand show of civility --sarvajna (talk) 17:44, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Exactly! The discussion is closed and let me remind you that you want to avoid me. So please do that. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 17:48, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Well, you got it wrong about Bal Thackeray, you got it wrong about whether the Thatcher article was needed and you got it wrong about renaming it so making wrong assertions about editors with whom you disagree is hardly a surprise I suppose. Leaky Caldron 18:25, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Don Bosco High School, Matunga

You seem to have inserted an infobox for Don Bosco High School, Matunga. I think the name has been changed from Don Bosco High School, Matunga to Cardinal Gracias High School in the infobox.

Any special reason for changing the name in the infobox?

Anant (talk) 09:34, 24 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ohhhh! No special reason. I copied the template from there and seems to have forgotten to change it. Thanks for correction. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 09:42, 24 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

GAR

I must say that I am very disappointed by your GAR which indicates that you have no desire to work with the article writer but against him. I can't help but think you're doing this out of spite for what this editor has said to Gleek Vampire which is very childish indeed. It seems to me you saw Prashant's attack on Gleek's work so you've decided to return the attack on his out of spite, the timing is clearly not a coincidence and I see you've also put 7 Khoon Maaf up for GAR. I'm sick and tired of the ill feeling between you all. You've let the Indian cinema work group down, all of you by your refusal to work together to improve things and self support each other. You could have quite easily mentioned the points for improvement on the talk page without taking it to GAR.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 16:01, 29 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I also agree, it is quite tiring. That was not my fault that Gleek passed that GA. I don't know. If you can reasses then, make a particular Criteria for Reviewers and tell them that only experienced editors should grab articles to review. It was not my fault that he chose to review my article. He also passed Freida Pinto, I'm sure that article is also, was easily passed but, why you didn't reassessed that one. Why not Imran Khan? Its is tiring....i worked day and night on the article. I don't want to listen any excuse. Comments on Imran Khan, not reassesment. But, on my article you reassesed all, why not you came on talk page. This shows your biasness and hypocrisy. No. Please delete all reassesments for god sake.Prashant talk 17:42, 29 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict)Oh please... i don't follow these guys talk pages at all. I am sincerely of the opinion that GA quality of this project is degrading day by day. 2 weeks back i posted similar comments on Imran Khan (actor)'s talk page post its GA. After Kareena Kapoor became FA, some non-INCINE editors posted a huge list of changes on it's talk page. The article did not even mention that she has a wax statue; countable few Bollywood people fall in that class and our "FA" didn't mention it. I don't care who nominates these articles and who reviews it. I don't care if they team up together and clear each other's articles or team up against each others and trash it. And i also don't consider my comments as something against the project but more inclining to the betterment of it. If you think my points in GAR are wrong, you may point them out there and i am always open to consider your counter opinions. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 17:33, 29 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Who are you to consider our question. I'm not interested in any GAR. This shows your hypocrisy and I know who or how many told you do this. If you posted comments on IMRan Then why not on their talk page? Because you want to show your supremacy. You biased user, smell the coffee and look at the mirror. If you can't work on any Indian article , you don't have any right to do this. First, you should work on a stub, then you would know what hard work means. Huh..Prashant talk 17:42, 29 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict)@Blofeld and Prashant: I don't like using templated warning related to Wikipedia:No personal attacks and thats why i won't be adding those on your talk pages. Also, you two, and probably others who plan to come charging on my talk page, should comment only on the content of the articles. No personal attacks, on me or on nominator or on reviewer are going to be helpful here. GAR stays open for many users to comment on. If majority of editors feel that this is the best we can make of these articles, it will remain so. If not, we will just have to wait for what they comment. Till then, keep calm, especially Prashant. This isn't the first event where you are turning violent. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 17:51, 29 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You are calling me violent. What should I call you. Biased person or what ? Please fail it right now. Also, you yourself know why you did this. Huh. I'm not here to join reassements but to work. Why you left Parineeti Chopra and Barfi!? Reassses them too. It will be cherry on cake. This show you don't have with any article but, the editor. That is me. Do what you want.Prashant talk 17:56, 29 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Forgot to mention before. I am not responding to any of your comments on me or anyone. Comment on article and then you have some chance of dialogue. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 18:00, 29 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

O Really! Then, I'm going to respond to your frivolous questions and comments. Keep dreaming. Hahaha.Prashant talk 18:05, 29 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
