    Eritoran

Hi Ed! The reference you added to the lead of Eritoran seems to be invalid (#4, see refs section). Could you please fix it? Thanks, ἀνυπόδητος (talk) 15:41, 3 May 2013 (UTC)

Too new for the DOI to be active yet, I guess. I have filled in the details manually. Thanks for catching it. Regards, -- Ed (Edgar181) 17:03, 3 May 2013 (UTC)

    Move a page please

Could you please move acyl chloride to acyl halide? It seems like acyl chlorides are more important than all the others and no reason is given why. As an IP editor once wrote:

"I know, right? The article claims this specific class of compound to be more important than any other, then doesn't bother to explain why. I think the distinction is silly. " 2602:304:CE23:C319:F8EB:899B:C5C1:3F53 (talk) 22:11, 3 May 2013 (UTC)

The article currently titled "acyl chloride" cannot be moved to the title "acyl halide" because there is already a separate article using that title. Merging the content of the two articles is reasonable, but not really necessary, in my opinion. -- Ed (Edgar181) 11:37, 4 May 2013 (UTC)

    Taxadiene

Hey thanks for your work on Taxadiene. How did you get a chem diagram for that one? Also I need some help if you are able. I tried to start some other pages (on my profile page) but some user deleted them all. Seems unjustified, as they all had pubchem and chemspider pages linked. If you could help me generate images for these pages, or revert their deletions, or help somehow, it would be awesome. ThanksJatlas (talk) 21:31, 6 May 2013 (UTC)

Hi Jatlas. Welcome to Wikipedia. I was happy to help out with taxadiene and I can understand your frustration. Wikipedia's way of doing things and its rules can be quite hard to figure out for newcomers. The pages you created were problematic because they contained so little content. As an encyclopedia, all the articles in Wikipedia need to have a bare minimum of information. Several of the articles you created fell below that minimum because they contained no text at all - and without any content, a reader only sees a box with some numbers in it and it's not meaningful. That's why a couple of the articles were deleted (see WP:CSD#A3 for details about the deletion criteria). The other articles were moved to a different location - into your "user space" from "article space" as RHaworth noted above (see Wikipedia:User pages for details). You can work on the article where they are now, and then move them back to the regular titles when they are ready. Specifically, they should contain a minimum amount of information so that any reader could at least determine what the article is about. Articles, including those about chemical compounds, must also meet the general notability criteria to be included. So you should include some information that indicates why they are notable chemical compounds. Basing the information on cited references is helpful too. I'd be glad to help out in any way, including answering any other questions you have. You may also find others willing to help out at Wikipedia:WikiProject Chemistry and Wikipedia:WikiProject Chemicals where Wikipedia's chemists discuss issues related to chemistry articles. I hope this helps, -- Ed (Edgar181) 10:42, 7 May 2013 (UTC)
Ok thanks for checking back with me guys. I figured all the "stubs" were going to expand eventually. For the majority of these compounds I can get their pubchem/spiderchem IDs and write a few sentences based on scientific papers. I figured notability wouldn't be a problem since the compounds are related by origin, and chemically related to docetaxel, 10-deacetylbaccatin, paclitaxel, baccatin III. Would a few sentences be enough to legitimize the pages? I also would like to generate images for the compounds but do not know how (although I was successful in creating one for baccatin III). ~ thanks again ~ Jatlas (talk) 14:17, 7 May 2013 (UTC)
Yes, I think a few sentences would be enough provided the compounds are notable in some way (such as some scientific study beyond the mere isolation and identification). For images, there are instructions at Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Chemistry/Structure drawing. But if you just leave the structure out of the chembox template, someone will almost certainly create an image and fill it in fairly quickly. -- Ed (Edgar181) 16:08, 7 May 2013 (UTC)

    Sean W.

Who has requested deletion? What was the argument? Has it been discussed? --Avoided (talk) 13:51, 7 May 2013 (UTC)

I'm sorry, I don't understand what you are asking. What is the exact title of the article you are referring to? -- Ed (Edgar181) 13:54, 7 May 2013 (UTC)
Sean Wrona. --Avoided (talk) 14:40, 7 May 2013 (UTC)
That article was started by User:Smtchahal in March and then he requested deletion by adding the {{db-g7}} template a few days ago. Since Smtchahal was the only significant contributor to the article, it met criteria for speedy deletion, and I deleted it. -- Ed (Edgar181) 16:10, 7 May 2013 (UTC)

    A cookie for you!

Thanks for the deletion of those appropriate articles flagged by me. :) Ghorpaapi (talk) 14:48, 7 May 2013 (UTC)
Thank you. I'm glad to help out. -- Ed (Edgar181) 16:11, 7 May 2013 (UTC)

    Housekeeping?

I'm not sure how this qualified as non-controversial cleanup, considering it hadjust been mentioned on ANI. --SarekOfVulcan (talk) 20:54, 7 May 2013 (UTC)

As an image talk page containing only an off-topic comment with no content specifically related to the image, it was a typical G6 deletion. At the time I deleted it, the page hadn't yet been mentioned at ANI (timestamps show that the ANI comment and my deletion occurred within one minute). If anyone thinks there's value in undeleting the comment, I can do so. -- Ed (Edgar181) 21:03, 7 May 2013 (UTC)

Rev Del request on my User Page

There's an offensive edit summary on my User Page that I'm really sick of looking at. Would you mind getting rid of it? Mdw0 (talk) 08:30, 9 May 2013 (UTC)

    No problem. It's hidden now. -- Ed (Edgar181) 10:34, 9 May 2013 (UTC)

    Lagon Bleu

Good Morning Edgar181, Please could you explain why the Lagon Bleu page that i submitted was deleted? I need to make a wikipedia page for our NGO and i am struggling. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Lagon_Bleu&action=edit&redlink=1 — Preceding unsigned comment added by LagonBlue (talkcontribs) 06:33, 10 May 2013 (UTC)

I deleted Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Lagon Bleu because it was empty. It contained no content whatsoever and appeared to simply be a mistake. If you wish to write an article about Lagon Bleu for the Articles for Creation process, please feel free to do so. If you are having trouble with the process, please let me know and I'll try to help. Regards, -- Ed (Edgar181) 11:38, 10 May 2013 (UTC)

Deletion of team season NBA template

What possible reason could you have for deleting this template? Do you not check for the damage you do to other pages before you do such a thing? What in the world could this template possibly hurt??? This deletion is going to cause a major revamping of the NBA Post season drought page. Please let me know why in the world you did such a deletion. If there is not a technical reason, it was not appreciated, and it is causing damage to pages. Spparky (talk) 01:45, 11 May 2013 (UTC)

It was a simple mistake. It was marked for speedy deletion by another user, and I don't recall what led me to think it was not in use. I've restored it now. Thanks for catching the error and letting me know. -- Ed (Edgar181) 02:35, 11 May 2013 (UTC)

Thank you very much - saved a lot of rework. Spparky (talk) 03:41, 12 May 2013 (UTC)

    Problem with blocked editor

As you were the blocking admin of the last editor that was vandalizing articles I created, I'm wondering of you would know how I should handle this. Mobility99 was indef blocked for vandalism and edit warring. Several account have popped up with identical edits, attacks on articles I created. I filed a sockpuppet report as it's obvious it's the same person. However, with the frequency of new accounts appearing, all doing the same thing, what can be done? I can't imagine the whole list of articles I created being protected. This is a nuisance (obviously this editor's plan). Where can I go from here? freshacconci talktalk 00:30, 12 May 2013 (UTC)

Filing the SPI is the right place to start. I've blocked all the accounts listed there that are currently active. If others appear, report them there or let me know and I'll block. Some of the targeted articles have already been protected, and you can request protection of any others that get targeted. This kind of situation happens on occasion, but the good news is that most people like this realize the futility of what they are trying to do fairly quickly. -- Ed (Edgar181) 14:16, 12 May 2013 (UTC)

    Azapropazone

I think there should be propyl chain instead of propenyl in the structure of azapropazone. [1]

    Yes, you're right. I have now fixed it. Thanks. -- Ed (Edgar181) 12:07, 13 May 2013 (UTC)

    Thank you

I would just like to thank you for blocking the IP address (208.66.198.76) that was vandalizing severly. --MGray98 (talk) 14:50, 14 May 2013 (UTC)

    I'm glad to help. -- Ed (Edgar181) 15:19, 14 May 2013 (UTC)

    Atom AMPD

    Hello Ed.

An article I submitted (Atom AMPD) has been deleted (May 8) due to copyright infringement. Assuming I can find the copyright infringement in the article I will delete and would like to resubmit the article. How should I proceed??

    Thanks,

Tom — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tom Bergmann2 (talkcontribs) 17:31, 14 May 2013 (UTC)

Some of the text is taken directly from atomampd.com. At second look, there isn't all that much, so it's probably in the gray area between what would generally be considered (by Wikipedia's standards, which may err on the side of caution) a copyright violation and what would not. So for now, I have restored Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Atom AMPD temporarily to give you a chance to work on it. However, I suspect that the article will be turned down for other reasons. As written, it does not appear to meet Wikipedia's inclusion guidelines for notability (see WP:CORP for details) and it is clearly promotional in tone. Also, as an executive in the company you're writing about, you should probably have a look at Wikipedia's conflict of interest guidelines as well. I hope this helps. Block

You blocked 24.163.18.9 for 31 hours. Did you see the offensive edit to the BLP? Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 17:23, 15 May 2013 (UTC)

I hate to say it, but that kind of childish vandalism is common around here and is tame compared to a lot of what I see every day. A 31 hour block is standard practice for a dynamic IP that has only a few edits and has never been blocked before. -- Ed (Edgar181) 17:31, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
OK, but if they do it again in 31 hours it is not my fault. It was up there for more than 2 hours before I happened to see it. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 17:59, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for removing the vandalism from the article (I'm surprised the vandalism wasn't something that the bots would catch and automatically revert). And, yes, I agree that if they do it again it is certainly not your fault. -- Ed (Edgar181) 18:06, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
Yes, with that wording, a bot usually gets it within a minute. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 18:19, 15 May 2013 (UTC)

    Angelina Ballerina Next Step false

Someone in putting false info article I made back in 2009 or 2010 Saying that Justin Beider and Hirlay Duff are the voice actors saying that they're teenager when they're really 8m and not citing the source. I edit it and cite the source, but that person edit it again with the false info, i don't know who the person is mich (talk) 13:34, 16 May 2013 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but I don't know enough about Angelina Ballerina: The Next Steps to know what information is correct and what is false. I would recommend that you request assistance from a WikiProject where members will be more familiar with this topic than me. Perhaps you can ask at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Television or at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Animation. -- Ed (Edgar181) 14:04, 16 May 2013 (UTC)

Who do you work for Edgar? Psychiatry or Pharma Corp?

You're insistent removal of Side Effects from the Lurasidone talk page suggests you work for the Corporation itself or in the psychiatric profession in someway and are clearly trying to hide the bad effects of this drug for some self interest. 2602:306:C518:6C40:F02A:330C:11CC:ACDB (talk) 12:11, 20 May 2013 (UTC)

Please read and understand the talk page guidelines linked on your user talk pages. Making silly unfounded accusations is not helpful. I have no connection whatsoever with anyone that makes, sells, or prescribes lurasidone. If you continue to make such personal attacks or continue to disregard Wikipedia policies in other ways, you may be blocked from editing. -- Ed (Edgar181) 12:17, 20 May 2013 (UTC)

Invitation to take a short survey about communication and efficiency of WikiProjects for my research

Hi Ed, I'm working on a project to study the running of WikiProject and possible performance measures for it. I learn from WikiProject Chemicals talk page that you are an active member of the project. I would like to invite you to take a short survey for my study. If you are available to take our survey, could you please reply an email to me? I'm new to Wikipedia, I can't send too many emails to other editors due to anti-spam measure. Thank you very much for your time. Xiangju (talk) 17:30, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

I wish you well on your project, but choose not to participate. Regards, -- Ed (Edgar181) 17:41, 22 May 2013 (UTC)
Hi, Ed, it's OK. Also wish everything goes well with you. Xiangju (talk) 10:50, 23 May 2013 (UTC)

You sure this is real? Not my field of expertise, but I can't find anything on it, even with the source. No patent found, no news, no web hits. Dennis Brown - - © - @ - Join WER 15:41, 23 May 2013 (UTC)

This is very typical of the many articles we have on designer drugs. It doesn't appear notable to me. Here's what I have found with a brief literature search. The chemical structure doesn't appear in any chemical database (Chemical Abstracts, Reaxys, PubChem, ChemSpider, etc.) and therefore is unlikely to have ever appeared in the scientific literature. The cited patent describes a genus of chemical compounds which encompasses the structure given in the article, but I haven't looked closely enough to say that 5-EAPB is specifically described - at best 5-EAPB is simply just one of many related chemicals described in the patent. I've tried to nominate such articles for deletion in the past on grounds of WP:GNG and WP:V without much success because there are too many editors here that are interested in cataloging all designer drugs no matter how unimportant they are. If you would like send this one to AFD, I would support deletion. -- Ed (Edgar181) 16:14, 23 May 2013 (UTC)
I don't feel knowledgeable to defend it at AFD, although I would support a delete based on my findings. I ran across it quite accidentally while patrolling new articles and wasn't even able to verify it wasn't a hoax. I was tempted to tag it as such, but again, it is so far out of my expertise it is best left to someone like you that is familiar. Dennis Brown - - © - @ - Join WER 16:16, 23 May 2013 (UTC)

Dear Ed, Who and where can I talk to someone about de/revulcanizing rubber, or at least being able to attach two vulcanized pieces together? This would be useful for example in recycling inner tubes into garden hoses. Perhaps it would be better to talk over email?
