Thank You / 4 Martyrs of El Salvador
Thank you for the work you put in on Ita Ford, Maura Clarke, Jean Donovan, and Dorothy Kazel in December 2007. I keep meaning to go back to those and add more documented details... Never enough time! -- LisaSmall T/C 23:42, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

Perry County narrow gauges
I probably don't have the time to do major expansion on these railroads anytime soon, but if you'd like me to do some lookups for you, I have copies of Taber's "Railroad Encyclopedia and Atlas of Pennsylvania", Hilton's "American Narrow Gauges", Rainey & Kyper's "East Broad Top", Pierson's "Tommy Varner's Red Rooster", and Kohler & Weinschenker's "Narrow Gauge in the Sherman's Valley". Choess (talk) 20:45, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
- I'll try to work on the cluster when I get a chance. (BTW, I moved your comment to my talk page proper.) Have you met Peterkingiron (talk · contribs)? He's an academic who specializes in ironmaking in medieval England. I'm just a biochemist who dabbles in Pennsylvania industrial history, I hope somewhat successfully. (Which reminds me, I also have a Rails Northeast on the Pittsburgh Southern I have to work on sometime.) Choess (talk) 21:42, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
- I'm working on the Pittsburgh Southern, but it's going to take a while (plus work starts again Monday); I have about five different secondary sources, all of which seem to be slightly at variance with one another. Thanks for finding the HAER source, that's very useful. Choess (talk) 04:11, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
Coal inclines
The original linens for the P&LE Mon Branch (the McKeesport and Belle Vernon) show a number of coal inclines. They aren't online yet. I saw copies, grabbed snaps with my iPhone, and can share if you wish. Dbrashear (talk) 17:45, 25 July 2009 (UTC)
The coal "gravity plane" that ran in the gorge north and east off s. 18th street was built before 1844. Pustelnik (talk) 13:42, 11 April 2011 (UTC)

You are now a Reviewer
![](http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/c/c7/Redaktor_Wikipedia_600px.png/130px-Redaktor_Wikipedia_600px.png)
Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 23:19, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
Inclines and Street Railways Revisited
I added Pittsburgh, Knoxville & St. Clair Electric Railroad today. It was erroneously credited as the original access to Knoxville, but that was the Mt Oliver incline of 1870; This road was completed in 1888, and lasted under 3 years before it was in receivership. The rack railway section which climbed from the South Side to Brosville must have been an operational nightmare not to mention hugely expensive.
Dbrashear (talk) 00:49, 1 August 2010 (UTC)
The J&L incline after it fell into disuse was investigated for conversion into a passenger incline, in 1886. Haven't found the primary source, it was covered in '00 years ago'

Wikipedia:WikiProject Pittsburgh activity
Wikipedia:WikiProject Pittsburgh is rolling out some new features (see our discussions at WT:PITTSBURGH). We are also trying to determine how many members are active, and interested in contributing to Pittsburgh content or coming to our real life meetups to discuss Wikipedia in general. If you could go to Wikipedia:WikiProject Pittsburgh/Members and move your name from inactive to the active or semi-active group (depending on your interest in Pittsburgh issue and overall activity) groups, this would be great. Hopefully in a near future you'll also receive our first newsletter with various information on what we have been doing, and what useful tools are available. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 20:02, 26 June 2011 (UTC)

The Wikipedia Library now offering accounts from Cochrane Collaboration (sign up!)
![]() |
The Wikipedia Library gets Wikipedia editors free access to reliable sources that are behind paywalls. Because you are signed on as a medical editor, I thought you'd want to know about our most recent donation from Cochrane Collaboration.
- Cochrane Collaboration is an independent medical nonprofit organization that conducts systematic reviews of randomized controlled trials of health-care interventions, which it then publishes in the Cochrane Library.
- Cochrane has generously agreed to give free, full-access accounts to 100 medical editors. Individual access would otherwise cost between $300 and $800 per account.
- If you are still active as a medical editor, come and sign up :)

Need a musical person's input
Hi Pustelnik, I got your name from the Wikiproject page on trad music, can you help me? I've written an article on a stage song called 'Villikins and his Dinah', which as you probably know became very popular in 1853-4 and the tune of which gave rise eventually to other songs e.g. Sweet Betsy From Pike (actually the only version I've heard). I can largely understand the debate about the evolution of the lyrics; but I don't read/understand music, and so the section I've written about the tune is weak. Can you help me improve it?RLamb (talk) 14:03, 9 August 2013 (UTC)

WikiProject Poland Newsletter • January 2014 • Issue II
For our freedom and yours Welcome to the second issue of WikiProject Poland newsletter, the Monitor (named after the first Polish newspaper). Our Project has been operational since 1 June, 2005, and also serves as the Poland-related Wikipedia notice board. I highly recommend watchlisting the Wikipedia:WikiProject Poland page, so you can be aware of the ongoing discussions. We hope you will join us in them, if you haven't done so already! Unlike many other WikiProjects, we are quite active; we get close to a hundred discussion threads each year and we do a pretty good job at answering all issues raised. Last year we were featured in the Signpost, and our interviewer was amazed at our activity. In the end, however, even as active as we are, we are just a tiny group - you can easily become one of our core members! In addition to a lively encyclopedic, Poland-related, English-language discussion forum, we have numerous useful tools that can be of use to you - and that you could help us maintain and develop:
This is not all; on our page you can find a list of useful templates (including userboxes), awards and other tools!
It took me three years to finish this issue. Feel free to help out getting the next one before 2017 by being more active in WikiProject management :) You have received this newsletter because you are listed as a member at WikiProject Poland. |
The Pulse (WP:MED newsletter) June 2014
The first edition of The Pulse has been released. The Pulse will be a regular newsletter documenting the goings-on at WPMED, including ongoing collaborations, discussions, articles, and each edition will have a special focus. That newsletter is here.
The newsletter has been sent to the talk pages of WP:MED members bearing the {{User WPMed}} template. To opt-out, please leave a message here or simply remove your name from the mailing list. Because this is the first issue, we are still finding out feet. Things like the layout and content may change in subsequent editions. Please let us know what you think, and if you have any ideas for the future, by leaving a message here.

Mazbānītis is a narrow gauge steam powered heritage railway in Ventspils, Latvia. It was originally built as a 1 km loop in 1963, as part of the Ventspils Seaside Museum. The route was expanded to 1.3 km in 1996, and an additional 2 km was added in 2010. At present, it runs from the Seaside Park to the Ventspils Adventure Park.
HISTORY The train re-creates a typical 600 mm narrow gauge line, as built in Latvia during the First World War. From 1916 until the early 1960s, there was a regular service from Ventspils along the coast to Mazirbe and further down to Talsi and Stende. A replica of the original Mazirbe station on the modern line contains a display of local narrow gauge railway history.
