What, exactly, was the "Unexplained removal of content" associated with this revert? Beyond the removal of the nag-tags which were no longer pertinent given the work Pawłowska had done on the article, I'm not seeing ANY content removed. New deal for page patrollers

Hi CAPTAIN RAJU,

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

New Page Review needs your help

Hi CAPTAIN RAJU,

As an AfC reviewer you're probably aware that a new user right has been created for patrolling new pages (you might even have been granted the right already, and admins have it automatically).

Since July there has been a very serious backlog at Special:NewPagesFeed of over 14,000 pages, by far the worst since 2011, and we need an all out drive to get this back down to just a few hundred that can be easily maintained in the future. Unlike AfC, these pages are already in mainspace, and the thought of what might be there is quite scary. There are also many good faith article creators who need a simple, gentle push to the Tea House or their pages converted to Draft rather than being deleted.

Although New Page Reviewing can occasionally be somewhat more challenging than AfC, the criteria for obtaining the right are roughly the same. The Page Curation tool is even easier to use than the Helper Script, so it's likely that most AfC reviewers already have more than enough knowledge for the task of New Page Review.

It is hoped that AfC reviewers will apply for this right at WP:PERM and lend a hand. You'll need to have read the page at WP:NPR and the new tutorial.

Information icon Hello CAPTAIN RAJU. Thanks for patrolling new pages – it's a very important task! I'm just letting you know, however, that there is consensus that we shouldn't tag pages as lacking context (CSD A1) and/or content (CSD A3) moments after they are created, as you did at Ashraf P. Ibrahim. It is also suggested that pages that might meet CSD A7 criteria not be tagged for deletion immediately after they are created. It's usually best to wait at least 10–15 minutes for more content to be added if the page is very short, and the articles should not be marked as patrolled. Tagging such pages in a very short space of time may drive away well-meaning contributors, which is not good for Wikipedia. Attack pages (G10), blatant nonsense (G1), copyright violations (G12) and pure vandalism/blatant hoaxes (G3) should of course be tagged and deleted immediately. User group: New Page Reviewr

Hello CAPTAIN RAJU.

Based on the patrols you made of new pages during a qualifying period in 2016, your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group, allowing you to review new pages and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or in some cases, tag them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed.

New page reviewing is a vital function for policing the quality of the encylopedia, if you have not already done so, you must read the new tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the various deletion criteria. If you need more help or wish to discuss the process, please join or start a thread at page reviewer talk.
  • Be nice to new users - they are often not aware of doing anything wrong.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted - be formal and polite in your approach to them too, even if they are not.
  • Don't review a page if you are not sure what to do. Just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Remember that quality is quintessential to good patrolling. Take your time to patrol each article, there is no rush. Use the message feature and offer basic advice.
The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In case of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, the right can be revoked at any time by an administrator. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:34, 19 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

New Challenge for Oceania and Australia

Hi, Wikipedia:WikiProject Oceania/The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Australia/The 5000 Challenge are up and running based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge which has currently produced over 2300 article improvements and creations. The Australia challenge would feed into the wider region one and potentially New Zealand could have a smaller challenge too. The main goal is content improvement, tackling stale old stubs and important content and improving sourcing/making more consistent but new articles are also welcome if sourced. I understand that this is a big goal for regular editors, especially being summertime where you are, but if you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Oceania and Australia like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1700 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. The idea will be an ongoing national editathon/challenge for the region but fuelled by a series of contests to really get articles on every province and subject mass improved. The Africa contest scaled worldwide would naturally provide great benefits to Oceania countries, particularly Australia and attract new editors. I would like some support from existing editors here to get the Challenges off to a start with some articles to make doing a Destubathon worthwhile and potentially bring about hundreds of improvements in a few weeks through a contest! Cheers.♦ --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 02:12, 24 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

New Page Review - newsletter

Hello CAPTAIN RAJU,
Breaking the back of the backlog
We now have 799 New Page Reviewers! Most of you requested the user right to be able to do something about the huge backlog. Now it's time for action.
Mid July to 01 Oct 2016

If each reviewer does only 10 reviews a day over five days, the backlog will be down to zero and the daily input can then be processed by each reviewer doing only 2 or 3 reviews a day - that's about 5 minutes work!
Let's get that over and done with in time to relax for the holidays.

Second set of eyes

Not only are New Page Reviewers the guardians of quality of new articles, they are also in a position to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged for deletion and maintenance and that new authors are not being bitten. This is an important feature of your work. Read about it at the new Monitoring the system section in the tutorial.

Getting the tools we need - 2016 WMF Wishlist Survey: Please vote

With some tweaks to their look, and some additional features, Page Curation and New Pages Feed could easily be the best tools for patrollers and reviewers. We've listed most of what what we need at the 2016 WMF Wishlist Survey. Voting starts on 28 November - please turn out to make our bid the Foundation's top priority. Please help also by improving or commenting on our Wishlist entry at the Community Wishlist Survey. Many other important user suggestions are listed at at Page Curation.

Tarpenning

Dear Captain Raju,

Very simply. This person was doping. This person received a 2 year ban for doping, which ended his career. This person has been posting fake citations and reasoning on this Wiki page for years, which are simply UNTRUE. There are literally hundreds of citations all over the net speaking about his ban, they are easily findable and clickable, there is nothing published anywhere that says, "such a ban could not happen today" or whatever fictional line this person repeatedly throws into the page, along with a fake link that leads nowhere (and there is nowhere on the USTF or any other athletics website that says anything like this). Furthermore if one looks at the commentary, it is obvious that this person is editing his own wiki page, with comments such as, "come and see me and I'll show you", which could even be construed as threatening. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.242.59.74 (talk) 00:41, 28 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Reflecting Party and Play --- Real Defintions / Real Science / Real Neutrality

I am not sure why there is such a resistance to modifcation of the Party and Play page as it should be. AS IT STANDS -- IT IS HOMOPHOBIC IN IT'S CREATION AND OVER-EMPASIS ON GAY M4M and Meth Usage.

Do you agree?

I will as I have with JamesBWatson who deleted my talk discussion --- then I placed this below to him -- then he restored my debate.

CARE TO DEBATE THESE ISSUES?

Following The Rules : Neutrality

Dear Mr. Watson. I accept your explication, but I would like to place this back into a debate and a correction of this article. I am not sure how best to do this. My name is James M Driskill. There is substantial evidence that the article that is presently on the Wikipedia presented for many years is in fact bias to the truth. That bias places certain misunderstandings of this term into the memeplex of the society which is highly questionable to the motives and cause to effects of how the usage of this misunderstanding is used and can be used and/or abused upon users of the information society. I am not attempting to self-promote myself -- except that what I have to express is the truth. Before you delete me [ censor ] would you please open and read in full both the plato.standford.edu article and Computing and Moral Responsibility as well as the legal law brief of Kang on Information Privacy also at .ntia.doc.gov-PDF Both these position papers reflects what is necessary and in the correction of information online. That is in fact my only mission here. Thank you. BTW: If you look at the domain registration of realuphuman.net --- you will find that the Corp Name I hold this under is "In The Mindway" -- Would you please conduct your own google.books search for this phrase and realize that I am indeed a contributing source to this wikipedia's book title : Information Theory : Last Chapter Meme Information Warfare Also for clarity, you may delete my comments outright -- but they were substainally archived at this location : realuphuman.net/WebDomains/en.wikipedia.org/Party and Play I think maybe the tag was added because of all the homophobic subtext? A completely naive reader only reading this article might be led to think sex on meth was a purely gay phenomenon. PNP might be gay slang, but I highly doubt gay men are the only people who have sex while high. Quodfui (talk) 00:05, 3 February 2016 (UTC)

Too fast

You applied this tag too quickly. Clearly, the editor was in the process of building the article, but you tagged it for "no content" within two minutes of its creation. In general, I like to give a user some time to develop their article before tagging (except for egregious cases of spam, attack pages or copyright violations). My general rule of thumb is to allow at least 15 minutes after creation. Anything faster is too bitey and discourages new editors. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 17:48, 30 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Overhasty CSD tagging

Heyo CAPTAIN RAJU. I wanted to let you know that I reverted your A3 tagging of a new article, two minutes after its creation. It is stated on the policy page that at least a few minutes should be spared before using A1 or A3 to give the author some time to come up with content. I usually wait for 10-15 minutes before using either of them and some admins recommend even more. It is only to give a fair chance to the newcomers who aren't exactly aware as to how Wikipedia functions. Best, Yash! 17:53, 30 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

CAPTAIN RAJU, you've got multiple editors letting you know that your Newpage Patrolling quality needs to improve. You are patrolling pages too soon after their creation, you are hastily adding CSD A1 and A3 tags to brand new articles, and you are not showing any responsiveness to feedback on your talk page. The next step is a topic ban, but everyone would much prefer if you can fix your behavior instead. VQuakr (talk) 01:25, 1 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You appear to have reverted an edit I made in the above article, asking "in what way is this (cited) article erroneous?" I would be grateful if you would read this explanation and engage in some dialogue if you disagree with any of it, rather than reverting my edit so high-handedly. I made an edit to the top of the Square Inc. Page listing my experience with the company and attempting to contact customer support directly. I believe the information is very helpful as many users are lead to believe they have access to customer support between 6am and 6pm pst, when in fact this is a bold faced lie. The turn around time for customer questions is 1-2 business days. I have a question that needed to be resolved within 30 min and was more or less told to sit and spin. I would like my edit to be kept on the page. but please feel free to move to any area you see fit. I believe the people researching customer service for their merchant service should know there is no direct customer support offered. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:647:CB03:9960:4442:263D:D2C6:A952 (talk) 19:20, 1 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The sentence in Latin I had corrected was incomplete as can be seen from the citation of the same text in article Nerthus. Please correct the citation yourself. Best regards, Joachim Schnitter (talk) 21:59, 1 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You seem to revert constructive edits by flagging them as vandalism. If you have no clue about the validity please consult Nerthus which contains the same Latin text or consult Tacitus' Germania. The Latin text is incomplete. Try to find the Latin words for river (flumen) and forest (silva) to understand what is missing. Joachim Schnitter (talk) 07:46, 2 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

December 2016

Information icon Hello CAPTAIN RAJU. Thanks for patrolling new pages – it's a very important task! I'm just letting you know, however, that there is consensus that we shouldn't tag pages as lacking context (CSD A1) and/or content (CSD A3) moments after they are created, as you did at MHPS DONGFANG BOILER CO.,LTD. Thanks.Template:Z149 Adam9007 (talk) 00:34, 2 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Melba Patillo Beals

Well, I was trying to add a picture of her in the info box. I added a link where it asked, but when I saved it, it didn't appear. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kerry424 (talkcontribs) 00:47, 2 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

December 2, 2016 Ceremony of Carols

I am a member of a group of university students editing the Benjamin Britten's Ceremony of Carols article as part of a class project. We're currently working from multiple computers to add a large amount of information to the page. We have everything drafted up, it's a simple matter of putting it all in the editor and formatting it, which will take a bit of time. I'm posting this message at 13:27 EST, and we should be finished no later than 15:00 EST. If you could hold off on flagging or editing that particular article until then, it would be very much appreciated. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by JHughen1 (talkcontribs) 18:28, 2 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Lucki Starr Page

Hi! The page I made about Lucki Starr is a page I created because she's a solo artist and is important, having the credits to prove so. I'm not sure why the page was deleted because it is " about myself" when I am nothing but a huge supporter of Lucki Starr. Can you please shed some light on how I can fix the page and get it back as I did work really hard on it. Thanks Luckistarrfanpage (talk) 2 December 2016 (UTC)

Mangifera indica edit

Hi Captain Raju,

If you read the revision, and open the reference it refers to (which was already existing before the revision), it mentions it in the source. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by 161.69.22.122 (talk) 23:39, 2 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
