Personal life

I removed the following from personal life, since it is very out of date. (Wade filed for divorce a while ago.) I'll keep the paragraph here for now, since it still contains some useful information and sources. Zagalejo^^^ 22:39, 29 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wade is married to his high school sweetheart Siohvaughn Funches who was his first and only serious girlfriend. Wade and his wife also have two sons: Zaire Blessing Dwyane Wade (February 4, 2002) and Zion Malachi Airamis Wade (May 29 2007).[1][2] The pair were able to maintain their relationship despite Funches, who is a year older than Wade, leaving to enroll at Eastern Illinois University during Wade's senior year of high school.[1] In February 2002, the couple were married, and at the beginning of Wade's final year of college (Fall 2002), Funches transferred to Marquette.[1] In September 2007, it was rumored that Wade had split with Funches after five years of marriage.[3] On May 1, 2008, during an appearance on Inside the NBA, TNT analysts Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith asked Wade about his rumored involvement with Star Jones. Wade responded, stating, "We're good friends...that's all, just friends."[4] Wade has also been linked with actress Gabrielle Union.[5]
This information should be updated and readded as soon as possible.--Jackyd101 (talk) 23:06, 5 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Philanthropy

I was wondering about the section that talks about his son TJ White. Why is this under philanthropy? The writing seems like something someone added in erroneously. There is no link to verify it and I'd never heard about TJ White. Does anyone know about this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.117.246.185 (talk) 19:57, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

He is mentioned on the new song by Jay-Z - i guess I'm the first person to notice that. But his name is pronounced D-Wayne or D'Wayne - perhaps update the pronunciation section to reflect this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.153.104.50 (talk) 14:22, 5 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dwyane Wade was not drafted in 22nd overall in 1985. He was drafted 5th overall in 2003. Consider changing that please. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.94.107.211 (talk) 22:22, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request from Roheed96, 7 July 2010

{{editsemiprotected}} In the 2003-2004 Rookie year it says that He defeated the New Orleans Hornets 4-3 in the first round series. It should say the Charlotte Hornets(New Orleans Hornets) It would make people confused

Roheed96 (talk) 01:30, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

According to New Orleans Hornets, that name has been used since 2002 - so wouldn't it confuse, rather than clarify? The wikilink offers further info if required. I'll leave this request here, see what others think.  Chzz  ►  02:03, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wade is still a free agent

Please stop changing it. Yes, Wade is going to re-sign with Miami, but it's not official until he signs, which hopefully will happen tomorrow. July 8 is the earliest date. We're dealing with the same thing at the LeBron James article. Enigmamsg 23:34, 7 July 2010 (UTC) Wade's statement on Miami Heat website states that he joined the team. It is prudent to include this information. Kc27 (talk) 03:49, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Edit requested

{{editsemiprotected}} I think it might be worth mentioning his recent comments about the world trade center, and his comparing it to the heat losing a couple games in a row...maybe it's not noteworthy but I thought I'd get a second opinion. http://espn.go.com/blog/sportscenter/post/_/id/67677/steve-levy-dwyane-wade-has-it-wrong he has since apologized

You need to say specifically what you want to add (from the template This template may only be used when followed by a specific description of the request, that is, specific text that should be removed and a verbatim copy of the text that should replace it. "Please change X" is not acceptable and will be rejected; the request must be of the form "please change X to Y".). Cheers! Mauler90 talk 01:02, 22 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
@Mauler90 I'm sorry I completely misunderstood.

{{editsemiprotected}} I think that the sentence "Wade created controversy when he said that the media would equate the Miami Heat losing 2 or 3 games in a row to the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001. Wade has since apologized." Should be added in to the section about the Miami Heat post Lebron and Bosh signings. http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/nba/news/story?id=5391960

I'm very uneasy about this. Yes, it caused a stir in the media, but we don't need to document every profound comment a high-profile athlete makes. Dabomb87 (talk) 04:05, 22 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation of Name

Someone should add a pronunciation of his first name. Anyone who looks at the spelling of his first name will think it's pronounced DWI-ANE, when it's really pronounced DWANE. Perhaps also mention that the spelling may be due to the possibility of his parents being illiterate, but perhaps not, since that is speculation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.254.60.211 (talk) 09:23, 25 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This. Whatever the reason for the bizarre spelling, it's unique enough that it deserves to be mentioned—ideally with a reference stating why his parents either chose to spell his name like that, or failed to spell it another way. 72.21.131.202 (talk) 20:36, 13 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Done, if not ideally. I have no idea why his name is spelled that way, but I located a video where the announcer introduces him at 0:29. Sentence added to end of first paragraph, with reference. --Thnidu (talk) 01:10, 20 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

CBA Negotiation Feud

A section needs to be added addressing Dwayne Wade's disagreement with the commissioner during the CBA Negotiations this october. They had a heated exchange which resulted in Dwayne Wade challenging Sterns authority. [1]

A whole section? I'm not really sure if this is of long-term significance. The reports are so vague, anyway. Zagalejo^^^ 04:29, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request on 10 October 2012

On October 10, 2012, Dwyane Wade entered into an unrivaled partnership with Li-Ning, a leading sports footwear and apparel company based out of Beijing, China. It began the creation of the WADE brand with Dwyane Wade serving as chief brand officer and thus being heavily involved in the design and style decisions of the brand. The deal is rumored to be in the multimillions and last a few years into his retirement. Wade also received equity in Li-Ning in the deal. The first WADE shoe is expected to be released in Q1 2013 both in China and the United States.

On espn.com in 2016, Wade was ranked the 4th greatest shooting guard all time and the 27th greatest player of all time. Please add the quoted paragraph below, or some variation of it, to the introduction section for Dwyane Wade's page after the 3rd paragraph. (New paragraph after "...but lost in five games to the San Antonio Spurs.")

"Wade is considered by many to be one of the greatest shooting guards of all time. In 2016, ESPN ranked Wade as the 4th greatest shooting guard, as well as the 27th greatest player in NBA history."

The final edit should look like this:

"After LeBron James and Chris Bosh joined the Heat, Wade was part of Miami's second championship win in the 2012 NBA Finals, when Miami defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder. He won his third NBA championship in 2013, when the Heat defeated the San Antonio Spurs in the 2013 NBA Finals. In 2014, the Heat reached the Finals for the fourth consecutive year, but lost in five games to the San Antonio Spurs.

Wade is considered by many to be one of the greatest shooting guards of all time. In 2016, ESPN ranked Wade as the 4th greatest shooting guard, as well as the 27th greatest player of all time."

Add the news that Dwyane Wade will retire after the next NBA season, after signing a one year 2.4 million dollar contract with the Miami Heat. Beware98 (talk) 01:35, 19 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I wanted to know if you would be kind enough to let me make a small edit to Dwyane Wade's page. What I wanted to do was put that "Dwyane Wade is often considered to be one of the greatest shooting guards of all time.". He is my favorite player of all time and I and many others agree with the statement. I was going to put it at the end of the paragraph before "Early Life". In the part where dwyane wade left the miami heat for the chicago bulls, change "The Heat had a two-year, $40 million offer on the table for him,[98] which Wade felt was unacceptable." to "The Heat initially offered Wade a two-year, $20 million offer before increasing it to two years, 40$ million when negotiations started to go south; but by then, the damage was already done."

I believe it's only fair that this part is mentioned to really portray how things went downhill in the relationship so quickly. Leaving it out only makes Wade look unreasonable jumping teams for 7 million.
