About Wikipedia

@Tanisha priyadarshini:, Sandbox is used for test edits. If you wish to write any good article on Wikipedia, you should try editing it in the sandbox first. Moreover, how to contribute to existing articles; you should be aware of WP:Layout and WP:Tone. Hi. I see you are new to wikipedia, and did some typical newbie mistakes. Dont worry, a lot of peeople do these mistakes in the early days of their wikipedia editing :) But the important thing is to avoid the mistakes again in the future.

I will tell you a lot of things in short. The primary goal of wikipedia is to build an online encyclopaedia. Every page belongs to wikipedia, even if it is our userpage. User pages are the pages where user can put information about themselves. A little personal information is okay, but usually it is mostly about the user's wikipedia activity. Like what a user edits most on wikipedia, what are their topics of interest, what are their expertise on wikipedia and similar stuff. User pages begin with prefix "User:" My userpage is located at User:Usernamekiran. Userpages should not be edited by others except in few exceptional cases like blatant vandalism, or similar. User talk pages are for communication. But they are for communication regarding editing wikipedia, and not for personal stuff They have the prefix "User talk:" My talkpage is located at User talk:Usernamekiran. I have guided her a number to times to leave a message on my talk page if she wants to learn anything of Wikipedia. also, kindly be mindful of WP:NOTHERE, especially of the last bolded section there. Currently, you have a total of 257 edits; out of which 8 edits are deleted. Out of 249 live edits, only one is to an article (which was reverted for being inappropriate). Rest of the edits are in either your userpages (and some other user's userpage as well), and talk-pages. We are here to build the encyclopaedia. Other things, including userpages, wikiprojects (and their memberships) are secondary. They are here to aid in the process of building the encyclopaedia. I strongly suggest you to take The Wikipedia Adventure, and if you cant do that; then I recommend you to ask for help at Teahouse to ask for help/guidance regarding editing the encyclopaedia/articles. Teahouse is a place where experienced users help each-other. I think you shouldn't edit your userpage for a while, and also you shouldnt exchange messages with other users if they are not explicitly concerned with editing the articles. Our primary, and only goal here is to improve the articles, not our userpages, nor to exchange greetings with others.
